Hello All,
Need to grab peoples thoughts on the cause of my phone draining my battery during the night when I'm sleeping. Evidently from the usage history my phone's been staying awake the whole time? (see attached screenshot) I'm on 4.1.2 so I am waiting for the latest update in Canada (hoping it will come soon). Anyone else having this issue on the HTC one?
If I am right you have anti virus program ?
If yes, then try to dissable it and check the usage again.

Yep I do! I've got the TrustGo Security App. What do you think it's doing?
I'll try uninstalling it and see if that changes anything. Thanks for the tip.

If it is not a big issue for you just uninstall it and check if the things are going better. But for sure to check if the antivirus is the problem do not install or uninstall any other app.

Look into better battery stats and find out which app is causing the wakelock
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Could be any number of things. I wouldn't automatically blame TrustGo (I have it and it doesn't cause wakelocks). You need an app like Better Battery Stats to see what's going on.

This is the correct answer. If you don't have wakelock stats no one can help you.
Get better battery stats export the log and post it here. Until you do that nobody can give any real answers

Thanks Nelson its the default player the causing the wakelocks. im still not sure as to why its doing it but at the least i know better now, thanks to you. taking it from here, i guess its time to find a better audio player...
When I saw these stats from my gsam app I got pretty worried and confused. Can any one help me figure out what is exactly keeping my phone up so much?
I dont have Google now enabled so I'm not sure what the heck "Google services" are waking my device that many darn times. this is a screenshot from yesterday. I downloaded wakelock detector and I'll post screenshots from that too.

Thanks for any help guys really appreciated

Not quite sure. I guess the first step would be to start disabling any google made apps that you dont use..... Do you have any consistent running background programs? When was the last time you rebooted your phone?

I posted screenshots from the wake lock app and it looks like I'm getting high wake locks from the lockscreen. Is this normal? I rebooted my phone and I don't have any consistently running apps that I know of.
If anyone else could give any input

my wakelock for lockscreen says 54s (x163)
IdleScreen:event_15 (29s) (x42)
IdleScreen:command_15 (25s) (x121)
But these should just be swiping up for unlock and putting in my pattern..... so..... yeah. no idea. Do you use Greenify?
My Xperia V was draining much battery while sleeping, so yesterday I flashed cm-10.1.3-RC2 hoping it could get better.
But it's still draining almost 30% in a period of 8 hours, while I'm sleeping.
I can notice a huge drain caused by Google Services and have already greenified some apps.
It can't be normal, right?! Could someone help me?
Despite this problem, now I have a really better smartphone... So, thank FXP and, please, keep supporting Xperia V.

Not sure if this question belongs to be an own thread...but ok. here we go.
from my experience with Cm i can tell you, if you want better battery life, then you maybe should use a stock firmware!
I used CM and AOKP some weeks before, but the battery drain wasnt normal, not to say horrible.
But this is my experience. You should ask in your CM-Rom Thread, or CM Q/A Thread i think.
I'm a new member and I couldn't ask this in CM thread
I understood what you've said, but even using stock rom I was having that percentage of draining at night...
Do you have a Xperia V?
Could you (or someone else) tell me how much draining is considered normal in the period I've mentioned before?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
30% in 8 hours means that on average your battery will last a day.
That is perfectly normal.
Also, if you keep flashing stuff and installing apps then it drains battery quicker. Leave it alone for a week and see if it settles down.
Sorry, i have a Xperia T.
in the xperia T thread of tilals unofficial CM build (development section) someone mentions also such problems:

Seriously though this ROM is great. All that needs to be fixed are the camera bug, music wakelock thing, and heavy battery usage from Android System and Google Services and then it's basically perfect.

So, i guess its normal? But an actual CM User can give you better report. Not using it anymore.
awww, gregbradley?
30% in 8hours sleeping? horrible....but you are right, let it settle, fmlogin
Omg, my Galaxy s3 loses only 2% in the same period while sleeping, it's a BIG difference
I had been facing this problem since I bought this phone (2 months ago), that's why I tried to flash CM yesterday... So, I think that nothing will change if I just wait...
Anyway, thank you guys...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
apologies, I didn't see that it was 8 hours while you were asleep. That is not right. But it may be because its working hard after a flash. Please leave it for a while and it should settle, or install better battery stats app (Free on xda) and see whats keeping the phone awake.
Also check what your cpu is set at and the governor, if its on performance it will be maxing out all the time..
The governor is ondemand and I didn't change the clock of cpu...
I'll install the app and come back with a screenshot, so I think it'll be easier to find some problem

Some screenshots.
The graphs show another problem: it is like the phone just know that lost some battery when I turn on the screen.
For example: if I leave the phone with 95%, it pass the hole night "thinking" it has this value, but when I turn on the screen the battery instantly loses around 15%, this "fast drain" stabilizes when it reaches the "real percentage".
Could it be a hardware problem? The battery itself...
Has already someone noticed something similar?

Hi,
I was so satisfied with how good battery lasts till JB update came. Before that I would rarely charge before night but now I have to do it every night I am sort of light to average user. My main concern brought this stats you can see screen shot where android system uses most of the battery. What is going onhhere? I have a few apps that using but not much changed in my habits. I am with 3UK

Did you do a full wipe after the update?
Yes I did. All from the scratch. I just red that one htc one owner had similar issue and his fast boot option was off he enabled it and things got way better. so was mine off just enabled it.
Why is everyone so surprised at Android System being at the top of the new battery stats?
It makes sense really. If you don't use your phone a lot, and nothing else is running taking up power, the system is going to be at the top...
As far as an actual drop in battery life, I'd download GSM battery monitor or Better Battery Stats and check for wakelocks.

Yeah I agree, especially if you reset your battery monitoring often, it can be highly confusing and misleading to read battery usage stats. I use Du Battery Monitor which I've been happy with.
I have wakelock detector installed. And also noticed android system wakelocks on cpu wakelocks are high on the high. Higher than anything else. And this happend in the first half an hour I am on the phone. First screenshot is cpu wakelock and second is wakelock triggers.
What would you guys advice to monitor for battery usage : over what time period and what to pay attention most. My wake lock detector is on now and I will do more screenshots tonight.

Well at least your phone is going into deep sleep and doesn't look like any rogue app. You may want to Greenify facebook though.
Also look here for a battery "calibration", some say it worked for them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43579577&postcount=36105
And don't forget you need to let your battery "settle" which takes a couple of days.

Are your network location services on or off? If they are on, try turning them all off (as well as any Google Now network location service stuff). I found that sometimes the Google services updated badly and went into a situation where the battery would drain rapidly due to constant wakelocks.

I...don't think 16 hours is terrible considering that you seem to have been doing some Youtube and PDF-reading. The percentage on that PDF viewer seems pretty high but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Facebook is obviously the biggest culprit remaining.
I would try to use Facebook in your browser instead of the app. I'm not a heavy Facebook user and don't need the notifications. It gave me a big battery boost after deinstalling the app. Facebook is constantly syncing and tracking your location, it's very batterie unfriendly

I'm sorry, I couldn't see the screenshots before. You'll need a better BBS log, it would be much more reliable if you would post a log from overnight. Those one hour logs can't always give a clear enough picture. Make sure you don't use your phone, so we have a completely idle log.
Check the BBS thread for AlarmManager, that should already give you quote some pointers to work with.

In the above quoted thread someone said the majority of the alarm manager wakelooks being Google Talk and Facebook. I concur and think these are among the first things to kick from the phone. Do you also have NFC on? Widgets on your screen?
Actually it sounds as if you did already a lot. I am not sure if I would further bother with this ROM,whatever it is.

Some disabled apps still "work" in the background. NFC for example. Or GTalk.
Investigation of these sort of wake-locks can be tedious. Unless you see it as an interesting task Did you consider simply re flashing it?
