Ive been a member here for a while I usually read a lot of Dev posts(never find it necessary to ask questions as if you read through posts there usually answered) and have rooted and flashed of 6 different phones successfully.
the reason ive come out of the wood work is to ask we have so many awesome one click tools for the One why not a one click converter in stead of have to go to command line.. some thing that auto changes cid and device identifier, flashes boot-loader recovery rom etc?

I don't think that would be a good idea. Just because it is very dangerous to flash the bootloader and changing the MID is not that easy. It should not be 100% noob friendly. The commands are not that hard.

ive read your other thread, aren't you changing the cid and identifiers threw adb command line? what can go wrong with automating the process? also I have read some of the comments that other devs reply with which is no help. so why not solve it with a one click tool?
my opinion i guess. and yes stuff can go wrong that's why its worked out .
Rule:
15. Keep posts/threads on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
General Forums - For news and announcements relating to your device.
Q&A Forums - For all question threads / posts. If there is no Q&A forum use the device General Forum(THIS is where your thread should have gone)
Accessories subforum - For posts related to accessories relevant to the phone model
Development Forums (ones with the word development in the title) - For developers to post release threads e.g. ROMs and Kernels including modifications to Kernels, Bootloaders, ROMs, etc. (I don't think your thread falls into this)
Themes and Apps Forums - For themers to post Themes and App. announcements & discussions including modifications made to Apps and Themes.

because, and I won't answer this again,
This process should only be undertaken by those who know what they are doing.
Personally I like to type in my commands so I can see whats going on (makes me feel like a sir) instead of just clicking a button and hoping that nothing goes wrong.

I emphasized the part where you messed up. Just in case you missed it.
I dont know when XDA became such a brutal place towards noobs, it was the wrong section. GET THE HELL OVER IT AND KEEP IT ON TOPIC!
In response to your question however, changing MID and CID are a bit device specific, and require editing of some files. Basically it would be too hard to do and potentially risky , so it'll have to be a command line job for you. Its not a massively hard process, but be careful, changing your MID and CID can cause issues, and break the possibility of using an RUU if they do not match!

The One is a very popular phone. It has brought many new people to xda. This includes a lot of people who don't understand that the spirit of xda is helping those who help themselves.
Having to answer the same questions over and over again will make almost anyone cranky, especially when these people resist being educated in how xda works.

No.
XDA was never a welcoming place for "noobs" and never will be. The information that the OP wants exists. He wants a quick and easy solution, something we don't believe in at XDA.
Check your attitude. If you aren't a developer on XDA, you are merely tolerated here. Don't make any mistake about it, this is a developer's forum, not an end-user's forum.
The sooner you realize that, the less offended you'll get.

I appreciate that, but it doesn't take 10 people to scream at someone every time they do something wrong, politeness doesn't cost anything, the question asked was a valid question, just placed in the wrong question. 10 people replying wrong section and not even making an effort to answer the question is my issue, the OP made a mistake, get over it and stop hounding people, I've been on XDA a few years and there's definitely a shift towards it being a lot less friendly place to be. I appreciate it gets annoying for people, especially developers, but the attitude of some members is just wrong

Perhaps you don't understand.
No one cares about the OP's question because both the question and the wrong forum placement send a message that goes against the XDA spirit. By answering his question, you are pandering to that attitude and you have become part of the problem.
The only people who need to get over it are the OP and (no offense) you.
I've been on XDA for quite a lot longer than you and I assure you it was always this way. The attitude of the developers is the same. However, the attitude of the new influx of users is incredibly different (clarification: self-entitled do-it-for-me douchebags).
I was on this place back when Windows Mobile 6 was the hot OS and the mods and community were just downright incredible. Nowadays, you have "developers" with build prop editing skills looking for donations and naive self-entitled users who will just eat up the ROMs as though they are amazing and wonderful and then we have all in one tools that take the process of root and unlocking away from a user, and all of this gives end users the idea that all it takes to get what they want is to ask or demand.
The day I sit here and allow XDA to be taken over by people like that is the day that pigs will fly. Maybe I'm being blunt, but it is what it is and if my posts bother you, you know where the ignore command is

Im not looking to start an argument, I respect that this forum was built around people like yourself, developers, to communicate their ideas and come up with new ideas, and for you more than others, constant requests get annoying and simply you'd rather be left alone to get on with more important things. THAT I understand. My problem is not with you or other developers because you are the heart of the forum. Just I think the attitude of some members is very anti noobs.
I guess the ideal solution is post moderation for all non developers, stops annoying threads, and also stops the hate. I dont see the issue with things being made simpler, I use one click methods not because I dont like command line or dont understand it, but for simplicity, maybe I'm just lazy but why do something in 20 minutes that you can do in 5?

When a noob starts a thread instead of searching first, there seems to be 2 schools of thought.
The first thought goes like this: If people answer their question, it just encourages them not to learn to search and to keep posting redundant threads.
The second thought is that we were all noob's once and we should help each other out, since that's what these forums are for.
My thinking is that if we follow the second path, it helps us all in the end. For those of us that do take the time to search, we are often bombarded with these redundant threads. If all of the redundant threads had redundant answers, we would only have to read the first thread to get our answer. But if many of the redundant threads are full of flame, it just takes that much longer to complete our search.
My 2 cents...
Being a noob... it's good to know that there are members out there who can't point me in the right direction.
Good outlook im with you, but some people have no paitence, i personally am planning to join the army so both full mental and physical control are needed. I would much rather try to help people abide by the law intsead of just shooting them and saying WHY DID YOU DO THAT! If you think about thats what youre doing buts its the forum rules and youre shooting with insults instead of bullets.
What a bunch of ****. You guys are retarded. If you read the damn rules and follow them no one will attack you for following the rules. Damn.

I have to agree with JimmyMcGee and would say that most NOOBS have not read the rules..... There has been so many redundant threads started by NOOBS (You can see that there first post is a new thread). There was one member with 7 redundant threads started and only 12 posts!
I lurked around these boards for about a year before I started posting (aside from an occasional one here and there)...I learned a lot and had my phone fully upgraded with WM6, touch cubes, S2U2, the whole enchilada, before I really began asking questions and participating. I even taught myself via these boards how to edit my registry.
There is no excuse for redundant posts by new users other than pure laziness. It's easier to just ask the same question that has been asked a thousand times than to take some time, read, and learn. They want instant gratification with minimal effort on their own behalf.
They can search, they can read, and they can learn. I did it, so can they.

I'm with you on this one, when I got my Kaiser I lurked alot prior to even signing up, just because I felt like I really didn't need to create an account because most of my questions were already answered.

flame is NOT! a real htc device o2 got it from another oem
you n00bs!
p.s. everybody who spend a long time in a forum will see people asking the same question over and over again
and i suppose that can be frustrating after having replyd 10times to the same question but
rather then flame not replying at all or telling the person to search for the question is pref'd
heck one could even write it once in a txt file and just paste it if writing it each time is too much of a bother

The problem I have with "the second path" is that you are giving the questioner your opinion on what the right answer is. At the very least you should give a link to a thread on the subject, because most of the questions don't have one right answer so they need to decide for themselves, by reading the original thread, how they want to proceed. This also applies to anyone who searches and finds this redundant thread later.
But I am in the "teach them to fish" camp. If you see some idiot trying to cross a busy highway, you don't start yelling "GO, GO, GO!" when you can say "Hey, there is a walkway overpass 200 ft up the road." Unless of course I have a video camera with me, then watch out YouTube, here I come.

See you are one of those impatient people who makes others not like you and/or the entire forum. Im not saying we should jus give out answers to any idiot thats asks, but i have seen a few cases where people have legitimate questions about something and some senior member comes in and beats him to death with his own words, not only making that person feel inferior but probably making them dislike the forums alltogether thinking their all assholes there. What im trying to say is that if its the guys first post and hes asking the redundant, at least throw some words his way to search for, dont just be like "ha ha your a dumbass thats already been answered" and leave him to probably post the same question again still looking for help. You could try to help him, then hit the triangle like the mod said and close the thread.
mikechannon said:
To be rude and insulting is never acceptable. However, and it's perhaps best with a little humour, you can point out that the question has been asked before and a search would have been productive. I would also then either answer the question and or give a link. Then you can report the post using the red triangle so it can be closed by the Mods.
Just keep in mind that although you and others may know the question has been posted before, a search is often only productive if you know what words to put in the search. So it is possible that folk are being honest when they say they have searched and found nothing if only because they did not know good words to search on.

I see the forums as a little like a military organization. Newbies are the infantry, then Senior members are higher rank. Then you have ROM Chefs, then The HardSPL/Unlocker Crew. Then Mods, Admins, and the Founder. As you go up in rank you get a little more respect, as hopefully you have contributed in a good way to the Community. That is this forums main objective. The sharing of knowledge, not the hand holding and free technical support.

Thank you, thank you! You said it! I dont think the problem is it's the same question being posted, but the fact that the single posters come here for "free tech support" then you never see their name again. Just had someone, first post, ask about another damn i****e theme, and if it was possible to put on the i760, obviously n00b question. So, I answered and said it would be easy, he then replied in his own thread 6-7 times, where are you, where are you, what do I do, help!!! Shut up !!! Then PM's me and ask if I would design his theme.
For example:
Fred, he loves Ginger
Actually i didnt see the sarcasm tag but all that im saying is some people just dont want to help anyone they wanna get thier apps and go and im fine with that but some people sit around simply post against people left and right. You may try to help but some dont, so first sorry to sound so pissed but, I look at every person on here as rude or ignorant until proven otherwise, wich is probably why I post only when I feel I truly have input on the discussion.
Again dont take it the wrong way, Its not against you or anyone else, but like the OP said redundant post's + redundant answers = easy searching
Its more trying to help the whole community not just the one who you're giving the answer. Oh yea a couple shots at the poster is ok as long as its in good fun and you still try to help in some way.
Once again only an opinion.

I understand what you are saying, but let me share my newbie expeirence.
So I found this site and was excited about Flashing. I read up about it and Flashed a Dutty ROM. But My Hardware Keyboard Symbols were messed up on my Kaiser, common problem with an easy fix. I searched for "Tilt Keyboard issues" on Google. First Page was links to Two Post threads saying, This has been covered, go here. With a Link, if I followed the link it went to another thread with 5 or 6 posts, that had a link to another thread that had 10 post, with a link to another thread. Then finally that thread linked to the thread with Taurus Bulba's Tilt Keyboard Fix. That was my expierance.
That's why I would perfere people tp post in an existing thread. I raises the relavent thread to the Top Result on Google.
i don't think flaming is the route as it dishearts the newcomer, however i think if u r new than searching and reading first helps greatly and will help avoid posting redundant threads.
Frankly speaking I agreed that xda-developers indeed had help a lot of users out there with their apps and knowledge. Which I think many members out there including myself would really appreciate it.
I do agree that there is a search function. But have anyone, thought of that not everyone are as smart as the rest.
For that matter, there might be some members who might not know what keywords to type to get the search result that they desire. Therefore, when they search, most of the times they don't get any result.
There are still members like me who are a slow learner living in a certain part of the world still trying to struggle on what words to use or type to get the result. Especially when you come to such gadgets, there may be terms to use in order to get the desire results.
Not to mention that members here comes from all over the world. There may be a slight problem in the interpretation of English too.
Everyday is a learning experience for all of us. We all learn from each other be it which part of the world you are in.
But seeing those rude remarks flying over, calling other members idiot and etc... Some members even tell others off (Not in a joking manner)....
This had given me a very deep impression that this forum here are not friendly at all. Those words are hurtful (there’s always a better choice of words).
It does make a newbie and a slow learner like me feel very stress when ever I wanted to post a question. Thoughts of "Will I be set on fire instead of getting the help and guidance I need" run through my mind.
It take me more than 20 mins at times to type, read and correct over and over again before I hit the "submit button" so as to ensure not to offense anyone.
Therefore, most of the time I choose to suffer in silent or I just perform a hard reset. Unless big issue such as reverting to stock rom and spl for warranty issue. Thank god, cmonex was kind enough to give me some guidance to my issue.
I do agree that there are some lazy people going around. But with a little bit of tolerance and respect, and choose a better words to give a gentle reminder on how to use search, and not to create redundant posting, then pointing him/her to the right direction isn't it better? Rather than just slam on the poor fella.
Showing respect to each other may make the forum more friendly and gracious.
Don't you guys think so?
Senior Members, Mods - To Flame or Not To Flame?
Junior Members - Gonna get flamed or Ain't gonna get flamed?
Guess thats how the thought process goes when you see / start a thread
Hmmmm...what about just members i wonder???
I like it when someone replies to the answer by saying search 'here' and its the link, or a possible link to their answer. I think its pretty neat. Can anyone teach me how to do that or possibly give me the link. All jokes aside. My first noob question!*so embarrassed*
I like helping out in my capacity and feel that's what all must do. If you are gifted but have a bad attitude, keep it to yourself. Let someone else answer. For your sanity and health.
I have an AT&T Tilt and i wanted to put some stuff on it so if you people have any programs that you would like for me to put on it that would be great. I also have been wondering what an "unlocked" device was. lol thanks.
I also have a 2G Micro SD card FYI

Scratch that.. Start by taking the initiative to open your eyes and read the threads around you. There is a software forum that maybe you need to look into, because it seems that is your interest. Don't come in here and expect to be spoon fed, I'm fresh out of baby food. The big thing is that there are other threads on the main page that are just like this.

Oh can someone make a cool icon of that spoon. You know, one that is a bit smaller that could be added to a sig.
I'm almost thinking we need to create a new forum section called Kaiser > N00bz...since there are so many self professed noobs who have recently been littering general (or worse) with posts like this.
It is one thing to ask a question that has been asked before...I admit sometimes it is very difficult to weed out the relevant information from a search (even if spending 4 hours reading). It is quite another to post something like this which isn't really even a question....more like a request for spoonfeeding.
I think posts like these need to be deleted upon creation.
this is my first time on this site okay? I dont know what to look for. I saw the general discussion about asking questions so i asked a question. should people who dont have knowledge about these things get pushed away because they arent as smart as some of you?
well...u dont need to be smart to know how to search and read the stickies...if u claim to be a noob...which u stated in the title...chances are that other noobs like u have already asked that question that u may have...so a simple search or read around the forum would give u the general basic knowledge u need
thank you mr. nice person i just dont know what exactly to search for and i didnt know that there were other posts like mine so my bad for "littering" your forums.

hapi... I am not wanting to bash you specifically. This is a problem that has been plaguing this site for quite a while.
First, you must realize that the name of this site is XDA-DEVELOPERS. It is meant for people who have an interest, and hopefully some skill in developing software for XDA devices. At the very least it would indicate some tweaking/hacking skills to existing software.
If you are clueless (and i don't mean that negatively) about any of these things it isn't exactly the place to be posting, even in the general forum.
This is like walking into an auto mechanics convention and screaming out "Hey can someone tell me what a car is and where I can get one?"
However, we are always open to new faces and if you took the time to look around on your own you would probably learn a few things and answer many of your own questions. After a short while you would probably be able to post with a more informed outlook.
In general, this is universal forum ettiquite, not specific to this site.
As a new user, perhaps you could tell us how we might better design this site to help this situation not happen?
Were things not clearly listed?
Were they listed but you just didn't read them?
Did you read them but not understand them?
Did you understand them and just not care?
Did you care and were just lazy?
These are honest questions to help the community understand how we can better server newcomers.
well i came here because i showed my friend my phone and he said here go to this site and look around. so i did and i just had a question and i needed help. i have a desire to learn about this stuff so i can get some nice stuff for my phone but right now i am kind of clueless. so all i wanted was maybe some programs that were on this site that i could download and that you super tekys think would be good for a starter. and some of the thread things were unclear... like i dont understand what they do and stuff..
Come on guys give the guy a break!
The attitude on here is very much RTFM etc. which is fair enough but I wouldn't object to a noob forum either. There is no comprehensive noob guides, its a discussion forum with about 50 peoples different opinions on what you need and inevitably going into too much detail... I specialise in seperating the wheat from the chaff and really for the average joe there's no harm in it being more accessible.
But as others have said in the current state of play all you can do is read. To flash your rom:
1. Install hardspl on your kaiser
2. Find a ROM you like in the rom development section (be aware: Roms with windows mobile 6.1 you need to install a 6.1 Radio ROM too, the process is the same as installing a ROM)
They all come with instructions pretty much, make sure to back everything up first. There are a lot of good applications out there but if you find a good ROM chef for example dutty (there are a lot, I only mention him because I use his roms) they will often have a full fat ROM with a lot of nice applications bundled in.
As for this being a 'pros only' forum, well how do you get new members? I spend plenty of time on hexus.net which is a tech enthusiast forum and there are tonnes of noobs who don't know a graphics card from a hard drive, but there's still plenty of helpful advice.
+1 For the newbie question section though.
And I think going to mediawiki would be beneficial too.

The phrase "general discussion " doesn't mean walk in and ask anything. It means after you have done your reading and research if you have a question that doesn't fit into a specific catagory here , then post it in "general"
You have walked into a graduate physics class and said " teach me science people ." That being said , Check out the wiki here and at htcwiki.com go to the TILT Home page. Go over all your download options and information on those pages. Then come back with specific questions or problems.
You will then find that people here can be incredibly friendly and helpful. Well except for a few of you and you know who you are

The thing is the applications tend to be specific to what you want to do, ROMs are brilliant for improved performance but you really do need to read the bundled information first, it's not as hard as it first looks but if you mess up you could brick your phone.
Applications I frequently use:
- Google Maps (You can use your GPS for free effectively, and even if you can't get a satellite lock it's good at guesstimating your location)
- Quickmenu is start menu replacement that is better in a lot of ways
- Total commander is like windows explorer, (or file explorer) but much more robust and better, generally
- Battery status is a nice application that tells you how much battery you've got left and has some powersaving options
- Opera is better than internet explorer but it's still in beta and is not free
I've also got some games:
- kevtris
- ms pacman
That are good for burning time when I'm bored.

Yes I was serious about a noobz forum. The problem is that many people i think get here via google and just get into a section and don't bother to read anything.
We need to realize that the internet is so common now, it shouldn't be different than real life. You need to know where is the proper place to go for something, and how to ask for it.
As for new members, we welcome them, and after some investment in their own knowledge, they will become productive members.
Alas, there will always be people like you (no offense meant) that will spoonfeed baby yelps like these. However I suspect in a couple of months you too will get tired of it. I always try to help a new user when I can, but not when 0 effort has been made.
Again, I don't mean to bash the OP here, thus my genuine questions about what can be done to help make this more accessible without spoonfeeding. I really think the noobz forum might help and I can't see that trying it out would be a big deal.
uu r not new to the web, r u? read the forum stickies they will answer all ur questions
ok thanks for the help but i gotta go so i appreciate the help and ill try not to be a loser and litter your forums anymore.
and no im not new to the web...

Would also give mods the power to move noob questions to the noob forum i.e. keeping the kaiser general forum clean.
I tend to lurk most of the time anyway waiting for new roms so am not always going out of my way to help noobs but certainly whenever someone asks me a question directly I don't mind answering it.
As it turns out when I do a search for a topic the little search bar gives me EVERYTHING I dont need.. and NOTHING about what I do.. I understand that a lot of people just post new threads about the same crud but still, instead of just jumping down their throats take time to listen and tell them and, if you know, where to find the topic they are looking for .. perhaps with a link and a polite comment. Constantly saying "Did you use search?" is not helpful at all. AND answering their question with "This thread will be closed because another member already has a post like this" still doesn't answer the persons question. Imagine going to the airport and trying to find a flight, and when you ask a airport employee where the flight is they just say " someone already asked where that plane was and your question will be ignored thanks and next time use SEARCH" I am sure that would make you quite livid.. I am done ranting and I am sure the moderators will delete this before my head can turn away from the keyboard....
Sigh.... use this to search. I'm not even going to get into the rest...
Please post in the correct forum probably general i'm sure if you used the search you would have found a subject about search
*Sigh* Why do people find it so hard to use these forums properly?
as usual
lol of course someone would just want to tell me to use search. And the FAIL part is .. I DIDNT EVEN NEED ANYONES HELP just needed a few people to see this and agree with me.
just
close the thread already.. Im just frustrated with the lack of helpful community
and whats even funnier is that not ONE of you has asked me if I needed help. Just jumped on the bash train and ran my a** over

That's because this is a completely useless thread in a Development Forum. That's why we respond with disdain and contempt in our hearts.
actually its quite a helpful community but nobody is going to spoonfeed you. This thread should be closed it has little to no value, especially in the ROM thread.
LOL
My point to all this is, the people who use search are usually lost and instead of helping them you would rather just tell them what they already know. Which is why this thread was purposefully placed in the rom development section of XDA developers, so please, by all means, close this thread and be a human being for a change rather than a hate bot. All saying the same hateful and redundant thing....
This is a development community not a "Ooooo Get my phone unlocked for free" or a "make my phone neat and kewl" place. That is why the name is xda-developers. There is plenty of stuff already out there and the search button gives you plenty of info if all of the info at the wiki wasn't enough. It's just called looking a bit with the search button as in reading reading and more reading. Not doing so is just laziness. You don't just look at the first page of your search results. You go through them throughly.
....Where is Dave or kareem?

All well and good if this was the HTC funded 24 hour help line, but it is not, it is a developers forum.
Go to Execu-jet ( charter jet service ) and ask them when the next flight to Paris is . and they will tell you to go to the airport and ask the people whos job it is to help you .

again missing my point. Lost people need help right? and if SEARCH isn't giving the help then who the hell else can they turn to? You developers, hackers, and all around good folks... So stop being so darn cynical and hateful
I bid you good day sir...... I SAID GOOD DAY SIR....
While it's true this was not the proper forum for such a rant, I couldn't agree more with what the OP was saying. The resources on xda-dev are incredible and unparalleled but the attitude of many senior members and mods is arrogant and unhelpful. I try to use the search all the time, but when I find a thread that looks like it could contain the answer I seek, the f----ng thing is closed (without an answer) about a third of the time!
There's a simple solution to this BS, and most of us learned it in kindergarten. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Why waste your time with a "UTFS" (use the f----ng search) post when you could simply IGNORE it? If someone else WANTS to take the time to "spoon feed" the OP, WHAT'S THE HARM IN THAT? "Wasted space!" "Wasted bandwidth!" "Forum clutter!" - Well what do you think all those useless UTFS posts are?!
As for the heavy-handed mods closing threads at the drop of the hat, WHY WASTE YOUR TIME? If it's in the wrong forum (as this one is), MOVE IT. If you think it's redundant, post a link THEN close it - or just ignore it. Closed threads make no sense at all. If it's in violation of forum rules, DELETE it. Otherwise leave it alone and give it the CHANCE to be useful (at least to someone.)
I'll give a pefect example, right here in this particular forum. Try finding a good naked ROM for Kaiser. I mean truly naked - eOS FiRe is definitely NOT, but that's what gets recommended - just before such threads get closed by mods with the BS comment, "Plenty such ROMS out there. Thread closed." Really? Where? Good luck finding one via the search.
Your best search feature on this forum, is on the top bar.
Uses google feature to search XDA.

Ohh mickey, now you have showed him the magic keywords how to search for a naked ROM for Kaiser.
You know that now you have disclosed our trade secrets.
Punative actions will be taken for breeching the non-disclosure act
A search is only as good as the keywords you feed it.
eg. instead of "naked ROM" you could also use "vanilla ROM", or "clean ROM".
This thread is even more ridicules than my comments to Mickey my post, so I'll close it..

Yes those mean ignorant a$$holes here in the forums that never help and hijack threads after a question has been answered, shame on them. How dare we expect handholding and not love this post new thread even though chances are extremely high that the same dumb question as we are asking in a thread or 2 under ours. We think that nobody out of the thousands of other g1 members have ever encontered the same problems or have the same questions as exactly as we have them and when someone tells us to try using the search button as a response we get all uppity and mean and start getting like a 13 year old child.
Now that I said it from an absolute noob preseptive
Now from the other side
The search button is extremely usefull, if you can use google than you can use it, ask your question than add g1 or android also the month to filter down your results. Xda is a very large forum covering a wide range of devices. I have spent numerous hours on here helping answer repeated questions over and over and over again. You get to the point were you get annoyed. All the answers you ask are posted all over the place. If you have a real legiate question than the senior members here are more than likely to hop on it and honestly try to help with a great attidue.

Let´s say for example you have been on the forum for 6 years and you spend big amount of daily hours on XDA, and everyday for more than 6 years you find the same questions, same "I got an idea" to improve the site!, same "what is the best ROM?, same vote for Android or WM or WP7?, and so on...
Heres the question: How would you deal with that avoiding what you mention on your 1st post?
I am really curious about your answer
Thanks,

True is that ppl don´t want to read and search, all they want is to get their stuff solved immediately, they don´t care about the work involved or any of that, they want it easy, and things are not always like that...

Here: I'm gonna take the flame-bait.
1. Read more than you type. 2 eyeballs, going left to right, and repeat.
2. Repeat no.1
3. I can't emphasis more, repeat no. 1, even after you've already done it.
4. Cleanliness might be next to Godliness, but Politeness is the Prince of Getting-people-to-respond-without-getting-flamed
5. Remember no. 4
6. I can't emphasis more, remember no. 4, even after you've already remembered it.
While I cannot guarantee that you'll get an answer, you'll get a better response. Remember the golden rule:

And @orb3000, hell yes!
@sakai and orb:
Those are probably the best responses to that question I've heard in a long time
@DroidFreek:
The truth is, searching will get you an answer in the amount of time it takes you to ask the question ..let alone wait for an answer. And, IMHO, good searching does require some practice.. and from what I've heard practice makes perfect.
I consider myself a pretty helpful person but to be honest, I have no idea what I'm talking about half the time someone asks something, I simply copy and paste it into the search bar, and if needed, I'll modify the text a bit. But it really is that easy
I completely agree tho about some of the negative responses around the forum lately. As you can see in some of the replies in this thread, I don't understand why five people need to tell someone how idiotic they are for posting in the wrong sub-forum. I mean it seems like some members get sick to their stomach when spotting an out of place thread.
A guy walks in.........ok, he did not walk in, he was already there. One guy says, "I slept with my wife before we were married, did you?". The other guy says, "I don't know; what was her maiden name?".
People just want to be dicks, makes them feel better and somehow they think they gain the respect of the other trolls.
Thanks mates

Well, I do that because I have OCD. A moderate/mild case, but an OCD nonetheless. I hate it when I had to crawl through ten pages of carp to hit some modicum of gold, so I stopped looking. Like I did in the Oxygen thread. You get people like this:

This rom sucks. I am a dbag that doesn't know how to explore the settings and/or I don't like the colours in the theme. Good luck.
I'm passive-aggressively changing back to a less revolutionary ROM where less people hear me whine.
When it's more stable I'll switch back to this ROM, but not before the cook bends over and TAKE IT IN THE ___!

^Kinda difficult to agree with any of them, no? I'm very grateful for every single Desire ROM cook and especially AdamG who is nice, polite and COOKS FOR FREE! So, please, post something constructive. That's not too much to ask, is it?
But yeah, this thread helps clear the air
People are glad to help others who are willing to help themselves. Show that you've done your best to find the information you need yourself, tell us what you have already learned and ask the more experienced members to fill in the blanks.
When somebody posts that they need this, or need that without showing that they've made any effort at all, they will largely be ignored. It's far more rewarding to solve an issue yourself using the information available than to be handed it on a plate.

Why am i not surprised that senior members disagree with my statement but i have come to see that they are pretty much one minded/sided kind of like the republicans. In order to get into the real perspective put your self in the opposite persons shoes and see how it feels when you ask someone a simple question but instead you get a parsimonious answer. You probably wont come to light and acknowledge that your wrong sometimes because you are always right.
If you post something please don't post a picture like some kind of child, this is the real world grow up. Were all adults here and I feel I need an adult answer.

Senior members have been in your shoes. You just got your feelings hurt on te internetz....don't take any of it personal, because no one here knows you or is your friend. Plus opening a flame friendly thread such as this makes me have a sneaking suspicion that you may be a llama....
Scent phrum mie fone!
For things that aren't asked too much, people should give an answer other than "google" or "search." But when there are things that fall into one of these categories,
1.If there is a topic that states "READ FIRST FOR INFO", you should probably read it.
2.If it is a common question that is asked a lot. Now you most likely wouldn't know that it is a common question, but the search button is there for a reason.
3.When you're making the topic, it shows you a list of topics that have been made already like your topic.
I'm not saying that people shouldn't help you, but some people expect people to help them instead of researching the issue. For phones like these, you need to do some type of research. And if it is a problem you cannot figure out, you should first use the search button, and if you don't find anything then post a topic.
Yeesh - you know how many multiple posts of OMG MY PHONE IS BRICKED!!!111!!!10101010011111 I find on the Q&A posts and find out if they had just read the other 9 bajillion posts they would've saved themselves a lot of hassle?
Sorry.. but the Search feature is a very much highly under utilized function on forums.
The funny part is when you see two the IDENTICAL posts right on top of each other and you wonder... "Is his phone somehow different then my phone - is it self-aware?"
its the cowards like that who have something very valuable for free in their reach , but demand it getting handed over to them , and then b**ching about getting told to do it urself , nothing is enuff for some of them
u know there are sites that need subscription to access roms ? and they are just copycats ? these lowballers make me sick , being all sassy about something they get for free
@OP
I was a noob too when entered here so I have been in your shoes, have you tried to put on mine as explained on my 1st post on page one?
I am sure you will understand eventually when you become an active regular user
