Hey fellas,
i didn't find any quite interesting LED mods / apps.
Tbh, we have this great light on the bottom, but it's quite useless if not for the notifications.
Where are the apps that would let me configure the light like i wish?
So for instance, if i'm unlocking my phone, playing around, writing messages, whatever, i would love to see
the light configurable?
It's just for the music and picture albums at the moment. And like i said, for the notifications in standby.
What i'm saying about "configurable" is, that it should be offer different options like a colorchanging mode, so all of the RGB colours would be changing over time like a rainbow? I don't know what exactly the possibilities are in terms of a smooth transition with this light but i think it would be looking really good.
Quite an eyecatcher. But i couldn't believe that no one has ever done such a thing for android phones. At least for lights compatible for the xperia.
Or did i miss something?
I would do it myself but i've got no real coding skills.
All i can write is plaintext and maybe "hello world"

Hey mate, Light Flow just offers me some options for configuring the already included lights like for messages or missed calls.
I'm looking for more advanced stuff like a smooth color transition (if possible) while the display is on or something like that.
Would be also interesting what the LED is capable of. It's just one LED right? So mixing colors would be hard, but if some possibilities are there, why not using it ?
The device is still very young but maybe there are or will be coming some apps or mods, even if they are integrated on some roms.

there are three led lights in xperia sp .
+1 for full control over LED lights :fingers-crossed:
I dream of the day when we can use the lights as an "Ambilight" while watching videos. It would be ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!

Everyone must know about the "Missed Call" app that allows you to change that top LED light to any color you want. The hardware keyboard lights are LED as well arent they?
So would it be at all possible to say change the colors of the keyboard lights to something other than white? A nice blue would be really sweet at night time, or red too. Is this possible?
Thanks .
I can't be 100% sure because I haven't seen the layout of the insides of the G1. However, I believe that white is the only color. The LED next to the speaker is a multiple color LED was made that way to warn you of Low Battery and such.
I would assume to save space that they are LED lights, heck they are on cheaper phones (like my SE w580i). They also are cheaper on battery power I think...
Just wondering if there are some API's to work with for that, if not oh well it was just curiosity but would be really cool though.
I took apart my G1 awhile back. There's a couple of pictures of the physical keyboard if you want to take a look at.

Hmm thanks for the link
Though from the pictures I cant really tell what the keys are, they look like round covered dots with mini dots in it...maybe LED under those? Maybe not at all?
I guess its impossible, no one has stated either way so I dont know...I really wish I knew where to look [in the code] to see if its possible [myself] buut its pretty close to Japanese to me..heh
Hi, I love my Xperia T but there is one thing that bothers me. I noticed that every xperia T has that automatic screen dimming when viewing darker media on your screen. For example, when i turn on facebook app, before the actual app opens there is dark grey screen. During that sequence screen gets darker, and when white facebook page pops up you can actually see screen adjusting its brightness to higher "normal" level. That really bothers me especially when gaming. On dark sequences screen gets really dark, and than it takes second or two to adjust normal brightness when brighter sequences appear. You can actually see brightness going down when darker images are displayed, and then back up again when brighter images appear.
So I'm not talking about dimming when overheating or flickering (that second is fixed by jellybean update as I noticed), or etc. And before you ask me I if turned on autobrightness in display settings, it has nothing to do with that.
My question is, is there a way to turn this off because it is really annoying?

Can you read my last sentence before question, please? It has apsolutely nothing to do with that. "Adopt to light conditions" means adopt to light conditions in your sourrounding, not in your screen light conditions.

All i thought it differs to auto brightness thats why i ask it sir. Sorry for the question then
You dont have to apologise. So, the problem is that when you watch darker images, or videos, or just any darker screen on your display, contrast and brightness goes down. And when you switch to brighter screen you can actually see, with your naked eye, brightnes going up. I see that Sony intentionally put that feature, but it is very, very stupid one. There is no point in making dark images even darker with even less contrast. I assume they wanted to achieve better black levels that way, or I don't know, but it is very stupid way of doing black levels more black. And, of course, there is no setting in settings menu tu turn this nonsense off, nice one Sony!

This similar annoying ass feature is there in my Spectre laptop. This was supposed to be a battery saving feature and I haven't yet found a way to turn it off. Maybe it's also a way to get higher black levels.
This is the Bravia Engine. Just unselect Settings -> Display -> Mobile Bravia Engine

Dude, this is definitely not a battery saving mode. There is no need for batery saving mode when displaying dark screen, and the problem occurs when displaying dark images or any other dark media, app or non-app. every single time.

OMG... Mobile bravia engine has apsolutely nothing to do with with that, because bravia engine works only in phones stock apps for viewing videos and pictures, and the effect is not even similiar to screen dimming. It brings more saturated colors and that is all.
Same problem is posted here: http://communities.sonyericsson.com/thread/61560?start=0&tstart=0 and Sony replied "I'm sorry that it has taken so long but I have done some testing now using a later software and I'm not able to replicate the issue that you guys report so I assume it's fixed." It is more than obvious that they like to close their eyes on every single problem that occurs. Thank you Sony for your gorgeous support to your beloved customers. I cant be more sarcastic, of course.

It's not my way, it's the way it is. If one understands what mobile bravia engine is, one could never offered it as a solution to a problem that has nothing to do with it. I'm terribly sorry if I ofended you, and I apologize for my attitude. I'm not mad at you, or anybody else here, I just don't see why would one write something just to be written. I know my T-Rex wery well, and I know there is no "normal" way to turn this dimming crap off, so I posted my question here, and expected that someone of the experts would offer some kind of solution to that. And I got things like "turn automatic brightness off", or "turn mobile bravia engine off" even though I previously mentioned that i tried all that stuff. People are "trying" to "help" me here, and they didn't even read what I've written. I'm really not one of guys that would post a question here just to be posted, I searched the crap out of the internet, and I found apsolutely nothing helpfull. That's why I decided to open this thread, to hear what experts have to say.

Thank you very much. I suppose you're talking about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909710&page=16
My phone is rooted and I can't change those values. Can you explain me how to change this? I went to that system location via root explorer, but i can't do much from that point. If I try to open it in text editor it says that this is read only and can't be changed.
Thanx in advance.

Thank you guys very much! Changed values, and rebooting my phone...everything is fine now, no more stupid dimming. However...I noticed that color adjusment is still visible when changing from dark screen to colorfull bright one. So the dimming is now definitely gone, but that color adjusment is still visible, like it changes contrast a bit, from worse to better, it is clearly visible. Any ideas about that?
I'm uploading a video I recorded with my webcam to get you a closer look. I'll post a link once it's uploaded.
Video will be live here in a couple of minutes: http://youtu.be/fHozO8zGZ1Y
After I managed to turn off DLS, that auto-contrast thing still remains. If you look closely, you'll se that the blue facebook stripe (and everything else) slightly changes its color/contrast when returning from the gray screen. But DLS was much bigger pain in the ass and I'm very pleased with the result od turning it off.

Hi guys,
I was thinking about the possibility to make (for example) the home button of the OPO on the bottom blink for notifications in stead of the notification led at the top.
Does someone know an app that can make this happen?
Sorry if this question is already asked elsewhere but I didn't find it up till now.
Grtz
It's more than possible, it's called back-light notifications (BLN) search the playstore and you should see some apps. Though I don't understand why you'd want it, seeing how there's a notification led (that'd consume less battery), but I suppose to each their own?
Edit: Sorry had a brainfart, and forgot to mention you most likely need a kernel which supports BLN and to my knowledge no one has included it, since it's a bit redundant, and taxes the cpu and impacts battery life for no reason. It's extremely useful on phones without a notification led, and more common. But I suppose it can be easily ported to the 1+ if there's an oppo find7a kernel that supports it, if you wanted to tackle it.
Edit 2: Looked around, and apparently an app called 'LightFlow' might not need a custom kernel (?) Worth checking out.

I like the idea. But unless the capacitive buttons are bright enough to actually see... I just can't see this working all that well. Really wish the buttons were brighter so that this would be possible.

Hi guys, I'm just about to buy the P20 Pro, but I have a question.
RGB LED's notification are fundamental for me, I don't want the AOD, but I want to know what kind of notification I have on the phone just by looking at it, like I do now on my G4 (red for gmail, green for whatsapp, blue for messenger, etc.).
I've been playing with the P20 Pro in a couple of occasions, but I couldn't find anything in the setting about changing the led color.
Also, anybody tried using the app Light Manager? It's the one I have on the G4, works perfectly, I sent a email to the developer and he told me that right now it is NOT fully compatible, but I didn't have a chance to actually try.
Thanks a lot!
Will
Mine only seems to show white or green..
Tried the app and seems like every color predefined works perfectly. I use Light Flow to get more options.

Great news then, so now I’m wondering if the P20 Pro is able to use the full Rgb capabilities or if we need something like light flow to unleash them...
Btw, even if if it shows the base colours of LM, it’s good enough for me.
Thanks a lot for your answer.
i can't seem to find a topic like this and it ****ing bothers me, why tf is nobody talking about the frontal led or whatever that is, so if you open the camera app and change let's say from back camera to frontal camera, there's a strip of light beneath the frontal camera that flashes, i've taken a closer look and it doesn't seem as a display thing, it actually looks like a proper led strip, why the **** can't we use that as our notification led? so far i've only seen it being used when you change camera modes, which is pointless, why not give an option to use it as notification led? and the second question, why the **** don't we have an option to change the back led's notification color? unlike some dude who said in another post that the led itself can't display different colors, i have no ****ing idea what phone is he using cuz mine has a lot of colors, like charging is yellow, calls are blue, messenger notifications are green, if you put on that flicker allong the song thingy there's the whole ****ing rainbow, so i know for a fact it CAN display different colors, now what i didn't get is why not having an option to choose what colors to display, like for example, change the calls to green and mess to blue? maybe someone can answer this questions to me cuz atm it seems pretty ****ing dumb to have the possibility yet not have an option to either use the frontal led which ****ing DOES exist but is used only in the camera app from what i can tell or change the back led's color which it CAN ****ing display yet there's no option for it, and thanks, sorry for being a lil butthurt but damn dudes this drives me crazy
That's not LED, it's just onscreen animation. Dunno about your other questions.

The reason could be a lot of phones don't use a led anymore is disappearing like 3.5 jack.
Since my last phones where Motorola I don't have any led about 5 years ago, you can put on always on display the real icons of the app at least for me is better because you can really see what app is showing a notification and choose if you wanna check it or not.
Useless and agressive post. Build your own fu***g phone with all your f***g suggestions.
Could it be the proximity sensor? lol
I'm crazy about that switching-cameras led animation too dunno exactly why nobody is talking since it's goddamn beautiful. It seems that the animation is attached specifically to the front camera, because if you let the stock camera in front camera when leaving the app, when you return to the camera app, it triggers the animation as well (it works when in lockscreen too), if you use face unlock and do what I said before, the animation triggers as well. Perhaps we can see the option for that to become a notification LED as the developing scene for the device becomes better, but maybe u could express your idea in a much more polite and less agressive way lol
