I've been using CM 10.1 since april and since then I only had problems with my phone. First there's the battery drain, charge couldn't hold up even 8 hours with light texting and some phone calls. Also, listening to music drained the battery faster than ever. Then there's the problem when I couldn't make phone calls or receive text messages and it wasn't network related. I'll try the latest build and give it a chance for the next few days, and if I still have problems I'll have to go back to stock cause I'm going on a trip and I don't want my phone to ignore phone calls and messages.
So basically, I'm interested in:
What's the latest stock rom for europe? Best kernel with voodoo lagfix and voodoo sound for that rom?
How to go back to stock rom from CM 10.1?
Thanks.
try jvu stock for europe, n juz use stock if necessary.

You can try Semaphore Kernel 2.5sc for JVU.
It's semaphore kernel but with stock colors. So you'll have stock colors, but Voodoo Sound and BLN Notifications (plus OC, etc)
Stock Rom for Europe you find here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Last Stock should be 2.3.6

As I'm experiencing major battery drainage even after calibrating the battery on my i9000 using Darky 10.1 Extreme Edition (DarkCore 2.4, JVO baseband), I decided to go with MIUI 3.0.
I'm kinda a noob when it comes to flashing, so I have one question.
Is there any difference between flashing MIUI from the stock ROM and flashing from Darky 10.1EE.
I don't want to brick my device (yet ) so any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I surf about 45mins on HSDPA, play games for 45mins, surf 45mins on WiFi, auto brightness. I expect the battery to last at least 20 hours.
If you want to flash Galnet MIUI V3 you have to follow the steps from this manual: http://www.galnet.co.uk/miui/MIUI-MANUAL.pdf
Yeah, I know, but does it matter that I'm flashing from Darky?
It doesen't matter because you will downgrade your rom via odin when you flash froyo from the manual. Just follow the exact steps and you will not encounter any problems.
Ok, thanks.

miui galnet v2.2 also have the problem of battery drain , and i don't kno if this problem solved in v3 or not ,
this bug is the most thing annoy me since i changed to GB and i tried many many roms but no hope
only JVP 2.3.4 seems fixed this problem
but Galnet is awesome , fast , look , attractive
If you want a high battery life yoh shozldn't choose MIUI or CM7.
But try Juwe's 5.0.

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S GT-I9000
flashed with DarkyROM JVH v10.1 RE
Gingerbread 2.3.3
Baseband I9000XXJVO
And I have the Android OS bug... the battery draining problem...
I have really tried every solution but whenever I say it is finally solved, the bug shows up again a few days later...
So now, I'm looking for any solution to get rid of this annoying bug
I don't care what ROM (stock or custom), kernels etc... I'll have to flash as long as it is Gingerbread 2.3.3 or 2.3.4
so please give me some solutions
thanks
Buy and install titanium backup (full) and go into backup/freeze and look for Samsung Account, then long press, wipe data, then more, make a backup, then freeze, then look for Software Updater, and do the same bud
Sent from my CM7 modded I9000. Kernel is one mean son of a Glitch!
Hey Guys,
First off, I love XDA and everything you all have done to improve my phones! Long time reader (from the WinMo 5 days!), but unfortunately I never have much to contribute. Hopefully this post will change things.
I have a Captivate which was running great... until I decided to EXT4 the whole thing. Then in the past 18 hours I had a bootloop (installed Voodoo then Glitch Kernel on Stock Eclair, bad move) and built a jig as the 3- or 2- button combo's were not working . My phone is fine now, I have Stock Sammy TW 2.3.3 from AT&T running (even though this is a Rogers phone.)
What I Want From My Captivate:
- Root
- CWM 4x
- exfat4 on EVERYTHING (Voodoo/Supercurio's fix only fixed either /data or /system. I can't remember which, though the Quadrant score was 1770 on Stock Sammy Froyo)
- Running Glitch Kernel v11 Low Leakage (I found my phone to be the fastest and most stable on Glitch. Bali switched my volume buttons and SpeedMod was ok...)
- MIUI 1.8.19 or CM7. I'd prefer MIUI, the messaging popup is awesome, though I prefer the settings menu in CM7.
- Voodoo Sound/Color
- Launcher Pro (sidenote: too bad I can't create folders in the App Drawer )
- Battery life of more than 5-6 hours!!
Questions / How To:
1) I cannot root my GB with Super One Click. I'm thinking of Odin'ing to Froyo, Rooting.
2) How do I install CWM 3 or 4x on stock and just root? Odin? I found this but in which place do I put the package (PDA, Boot, etc.)
3) Do I install Voodoo, convert to exfat4, then Glitch? Or should I update Voodoo, install MIUI, then Glitch Kernel??
4) After installing exfat4, Can I just do Nandroid backup of my data, which will be installed as exfat?
5) Is Voodoo Sound installable is a kernel even when I have Glitch installed?
6) My battery life does not last past 5-6 hours!!! Terrible! I got this phone instead of my BB9700 as a straight-up trade and the Cappy has 10 months warranty left. Should I send it to Sammy?
Thanks in advance!

First off you can find ALL of this information on xda. Search and read. Ginger bread does not have a 1 click root, you can how ever use this thread for the rooting method on KF1, just for rooting. As for CWM its a kernel usually just stick it in pda. On the Voodoo your out of luck on native gingerbread roms since KF1 kernel has not drooped, however, you can have ext4 format with Cognition 5 and Atomic fusion if you know what you are doing. MIUI and Cyanogen have their own instructions on wich kernel and what not, BUT if your poor battery life is on these roms then they are the culprit since its a bug they have. I average anywhere from 12-30 hours of battery life dependent on usage on KF1 gingerbread roms, Ive been averaging about 16-45 hours with my current clock/voltage settings.
I would recommend you do research on KF1 Gb roms or I9000's ported ones and stay away of Miui or Cyanogen till they fix their battery, if having a long day without a charge is part of your life. Again search and read my friend =)
Haha his search button is broken, thts his excuse!

I was running miui and could not make a whole schoolday wich includes 2 hours music listening and some surf. I got 2.2.1 stock again now and its pretty decent. What rom and kernel is running low on battery??
im new to XDA!
I think u should go with Blockbuster 5.0 with galaxian EE kernel....i have same problem of battery but this rom fix this....u should try
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i think Galaxian is the best kernel
u should definitely go for galnet miui twoeey III or the latest chameleon RC3
just look in my signature below
I dont really know what i should go on but ill figure out tomorrow and probably flash tomorrow too.
ive flashed 2.3.4 and tornado rc2 with the tornado kernel, Every one says its verry smooth but when im scrolling in like market or surfing its pretty laggy ?? Isnt to fast when surfing at 3g either?
Beleive me stock rom with any custom kernel is the best.
Modify it by your self.Remove unnecesery apps with nitrality or sgs tool and you good to go.
Stock JVR+Semaphore kernel by Stratosk
I had Juwes Smart Edition 5.2 with talondev 4.2.22-1000/340MB, under clocked with voltage control, got easily 2 days +.
Blockbuster (with Galaxian) up to 12+ hrs with rather heavy use apps. (navigation and internet)
Good day everyone. I just want to ask you guys, especially those who are using stock roms, which do you prefer, stock ics or stock gb? I'm coming from PA by Utacka and I pretty much used custom roms from the start so i never actually used stock.
Please provide a reason as to why. I just want to have a stable rom while waiting for the official jelly bean update.
Thank you everyone.

there is no as such reasons to be on a particular ROM.. its each and everyones taste that keep them stuck to a particular rom,
as far as stock is concerned stock ICS rooted with a hydracore kernel works best for me
I would compare GB to windows XP. Sure it was good back in the day, but it's had it's run now and time to stay current. ICS has been released for a good while now and should have had all the bugs ironed out. Little things like the improved task switching (previews over icons), and swipe to dismiss notifications, while small differences make for a better experience over all.
A better kernal like hydracore to improve battery life and a stock ICS (or maybe back to rocketrom) would be what i would go back to if i was so inclined (i'm on utacka's PA at the moment too)

Thank you for the answer. My only intention is to have a pretty reliable phone so I can use my phone when it really counts. I hate that when I have to do something really important, I will encounter freezes or out of memory error that prevents me to actually multitask.
I haven't tried rocketrom but I am willing to try that. My only fear is if it will lag after few days of use. My boss' phone which is sgs2 would go for days or months without a reboot and he is on stock gb. He doesn't know anything about smartphones in general so he thinks he is using a regular phone, and he is pretty happy about the phone's performance. I just want the same experience.
Thank you.

ICS 4.0.4 without hesitation especially with interducing of safe kernel
Flash stock ICS 4.0.4 via PC Odin (the new one like xxlrt or ddlr9) then flash safe stock kernel like PhilZ kernel for your new rom from (also via odin or cwm): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
And thats it!! Full stock, very smooth (compared with older 4.0.4), and most important it is perfectly stable, and everything works.
I only aded a call recording mode beacause I realy need it.
Hope that help!

Okay I'll look into that. Someone suggested about Rocketrom, do you think that Rocketrom could perhaps be more stable and faster than fully stock ( except kernel maybe) xxlrt or ddlr9, and do everything work on that? Files are too large for touchwiz roms so i want to know more about different types of rom before doing some flashing. I won't have so much time this coming months so I really want a reliable phone. Thanks a lot.

I dont want complaining on certain rom, but if you ask i will say my opinion on rocketrom. It is a good and stable rom, i have used it with hydracore kernel and dont find any problems with in about 2-3 weeks of use. But it is based on xxlrq which i found a bit laggy for me (the same story is for completly stock xxlrq). I dont know which is a difernce in xxlrq compared to xxlrt (some says the diference is only in kernel but i dont know).
So i was tired of flashing and stuff and decided to go on completly stock, picked up a latest xxlrt and whoaa, great. The reason why i am on lrt because my note is from german, i think that same story is for indian lr6 and lr9.
Then the story begins:
-Flashed stock GB xxlc1 via pc odin
-full wipe
-flash stock ics 4.0.4. xxlrt via pc odin
-root (dr.ketans guide) - only because of callrecord mod
-first flashed hydracore 4.3std kernel (also great kernel) and then philZ realesed his stock, emmc bug free kernel, so i flashed it.
Now used only a PhilZ kernel because it is completly stock with removed emmc brick bug. And for stock xxlrt rom it is perfect combination for me (just choose right kernel for your rom)
-Added only call recording mode
-settings > application > unninstalling aplications which i dont use ; > ALL > disabling (readers, music, social hub, etc...)
-And thats it!
Perfectly stable, smooth with great battery life, without any problem, FC or else. Without reboot for about 3 days (reason flashed Philz kernel 23.09)
Finally happy with my note :victory:
Hope that helped
