I am in a dilemma. I bought the Developer Edition of the One, but I use T-Mobile. As we all know, HTC shot themselves in the foot by only making the T-Mobile version of the One pentaband. Not even the Google Edition is pentaband (doh!). Does anyone have advice for what to do with the Developer Edition that I am stuck with? I was thinking of trading it for a T-Mobile version + $50. But I know that websites like Craigslist are shady. And I was actually scammed on eBay after selling another Developer Edition One (buyer claimed the phone wasn't present in the SEALED box, and they believed him).
Does anyone know of a reputable, honest site I can use to trade my One?
Thanks

Craigslist is hardly shady, just don't be stupid. Meet at a coffeeshop and ensure it's a tmobile One before trading. I use it all the time and have never had a problem, while a few friends have had problems I'm pretty sure they're blessed with an extra chromosome
There's also swappa.com. they are only verified users.

I have always done my phone sales and buys at the phone store. Its usually kinda busy so your not going to get murdered and you can have it checked as well...
Swappa is the best online resource though. Sold 3 devices and bought 1 with no issues

Hey,
if I buy the phone at full retail price without contract, is it then locked for sim cards as well? I cant find this information anywhere.
I'm thinking about buying it and take it home to europa. Thats why im asking.
Thanks
It might be, considering it's on Verizon, but I'm not sure if it'd even work in Europe. It is, primarily, on Verizon's CDMA bands and presumably the SIM is only for roaming usage, I'm not really sure if it would work to just buy it in the US and take it back home.
You can buy the overseas equivalent, which is the Milestone 3 and should be available(if not now, then soon). The Milestone, unless I'm mistaken, is GSM primarily.
If I have undesrtood correctly, Motorola Droid 3 works on European WCDMA networks. They advertise phone like "3G works more than 125 countries".
I have same problem. I want Droid 3. I have heard only one comment about Droid 3 Europe edition. It says that Milestone 3 comes to Europe in Q3 or Q4. News also say that it will not arrive to UK.
Only problem on Verizon model is hotspot restrictions and contract needed. I don't want pay 30$ for 2GB, because unlimited data costs 15$, in Finland..

At droidforums.net guys want to take it to the uk, sim already insert.
It is defenetly working, my question is now, do i get it without contract?
The thing about waiting and buying it when it gets released at europa is no point, because when i buy it now for 460$ in the us, it means 340€ (if you now a Stewardess you do not even pay taxes and shipping). When it gets released here it might be around 450€, normally they change it 1:1.

Verizon wants to keep Droid 3. Still, if you buy it with cash, you must take Verizon to Operator.
I'm not sure, will BestBuy require Verizon use, because they are Verizon branded.

u need to unlock it via VZ
A unlock code ebay seller told me they get codes for the droid 3 as well.
He has over 6000 evaluations, i'll see in a few weeks.
I have always watched Droids Google and Verizon marks, and I like them(as stupid as it sounds) and if models come to eBay or somewhere, I'll buy it.

Yes, it is SIM locked even if you buy it at full retail price without a contract. If you're a Verizon customer and meet a handful of qualifications, Verizon will unlock the SIM free of charge. Beyond that, the only way to get it unlocked is to wait until some online vendors get codes for it. Once it's unlocked, it should work on pretty much any GSM network outside of the U.S.
Hi all, a friend is now in SF and i asked him to buy for me a new Htc One.
He only found At&t and Sprint store, but i don't want to risk with the sim unlocking.
Does anybody know a store where he can buy a sim unlocked One with no problems?
Thanks
In the USA your only going to be able to get it from a carrier if you buy at a retail store. All the international versions that people are talking about are purchased from online websites. Where are you going to be using the phone?

In Italy.
I read that Sprint is a bit strange with the sim unlocking, so i don't wanna risk.
Instead At&t is possible to be sim unlocked with a code also using unlocking sites.
Btw, my friends says that At&t won't let him buy the phone until he does 3 months of contract..it sounds strange, maybe my friend don't wanna buy the One for me anymore
Right now with inventory issues, most carriers are unwilling to sell there phone out right. They are having a hard time fulfilling contract orders why would they sell you a phone by itself when throngs of people will buy it on contract. Only people I've seen buying it standalone is T-Mobile and that depends on what stores you go to.

I live in USA but do not have social security number because I am a student, (I am not a U.S. citizen) so I can not sign any contracts with carriers. I really want to buy Moto X and use it with AT&T, do you know if they are planning to sell it for full price?

i literally just got back from the ATT store, they wouldn't sell it to me without an ATT account
The regular price is showing $579.99 on AT&T's web site. That is way too much for the phone considering the Nexus 4 is $350 and can be used on T-mobile without any contracts. If you really want this phone then I would say walk into a AT&T store and see what they can do. Even though you don't have a SSN there may be special exemptions for students.
That's really hard to consider Moto X over SGS4 Google Play edition considering the same price, and people say the camera is really bad
Will have to take a look at Moto X in store today

Look at the review samples or even the "photos" thread here in the X general forum.
You can sign the contracts without SSN, all you need to do is pay a $500 security deposit, they will return it to you within a year if you pay your monthly fee on time.

I went into my local AT&T this morning trying to buy one off contract. They couldn't get the transaction to process though so the manager called support and was told that Motorola/Google are not allowing the Moto X to be sold off contract at launch.

i bought mine sort of off-contract. but, instead a month-to-month "contract". pretty sure it would be pointless to buy this phone outright from AT&T. it's entirely locked down to AT&T. until someone proves otherwise, i'm unsure this "GSM" phone will work off their network.
i could be way off...

Not sure if you can get it without a contract, but I paid full price (I and under contract for another year and not yet eligible for an upgrade). I paid full retail, which in the store rang up as $540. Not sure why, since the web site shows $579.00, but I won't complain about saving $40.
BTW - the store I went to said they wont stock 32GB versions in store, they will need to be ordered online. I bought a black 16GB Moto X.
So if I walked into an AT&T store and buy their Moto X full price, will they let me unlock it to use it on T Mobile?

I've been waiting for the Nexus 6 carrier-free to come to BestBuy. At this time only the Sprint and AT&T Nexus 6 are available in the store. I can't buy a carrier one because I have to take the phone abroad for someone else.
Any idea when the carrier-free Nexus 6 will come to BestBuy? Or any other suggestions of where I could buy the carrier-free Nexus 6?
Motorola.com
I doubt we'll see an unbranded Nexus 6 at Best Buy.

Get it from Google Play Store or Motorola.
If you get it from a carrier such as T-Mobile (you have to look it up yourself) their phone is not locked to T-Mobile. You will however have to pay off remaining EIP balance or pay for the device outright and have at least 1 month of service.
Sprint Nexus 6 should be SIM unlocked and can be used wherever.
Yup, the only variant that is SIM locked is AT&T's. I would have bought the Sprint version from BBuy, but they want $699 for the 32gb. I don't think so.
I recommend giving swappa a serious look. 32gb blue N6's are going for 700 flat all the time (with shipping included). Consider if you got "lucky" enough to buy one from Google Play or Moto. You'd need to pay $649 plus tax and shipping. That will easily put you above $700. And then you'd need to wait weeks in order for the phone to leave the warehouse.
I lucked up and talked a seller down to $710 shipped for a 32gb white. I say I got a great deal.

Would BestBuy match the GPS price? Or even the Sprint.com price which lists it at $648?

Oh well. I would've chosen Google Play or Motorola.com but I haven't been lucky enough to be able to order from them.
Another question, if I buy the unlocked Sprint Nexus 6, will it be exactly the same as the unbranded Nexus 6? Or will there be bloatware or something like a sprint logo on it? And also will it work outside the USA?

No Sprint logo. "Bloatware" would be determined based on the SIM card.
Work outside of USA..... find that yourself with the bands in your country to the Americas model.
So the Sprint Nexus 6 will be almost exactly like the unbranded one but just $50 above the normal price?
And if I get the Sprint one can I just take it abroad or will I have to use Sprint services for a certain period of time?

It will be exactly the same, but yes more expensive. The only one that is any different is one from AT&T, but even that is essentially the same phone (model number-wise). If you are buying it for outside the US, why not look into the International variant? Or has it not released where you want it yet?

Verify that the bands will work in China or have the signals that he wants to utilize.
For sprint I'm not sure, ask their customer service as they'll give you a answer. You'll have to buy the phone outright of course.

I'm having a difficult time finding a new-in-box unlocked XT1103 phone. I've had to send back 2 from Amazon.com because it stated it was new, but clearly it is not.
I'm trying to find the US version so that I can use Project Fi with it...
It seems trying to get a Nexus 6 at this point is a 'buyer beware' experience, as I can't seem to find an honest seller that has a new, unlocked phone or clearly states in their description what it is (ex... description shows XT1103, but picture of box shows XT1100)
Any suggestions? Thanks!
There are ones on eBay that claim to be new for $185 and "sealed box" for $199. I actually got mine on eBay a year ago and it was sealed box and have had no issues.

Thanks... do you have a link to the one you are seeing? I see some as well, but they are XT1100.
Then there are those that state XT1103 in the product title, but then claim in the description that they do NOT work on CDMA carriers (which is not correct in my understanding that XT1103 DOES work with ALL U.S. based cell service carriers).
@exiphone: Go to Swappa, XDA Developers' official marketplace. Nexus 6 devices there won't be new in box but the sellers there are trustworthy. They have to be in order to sell on Swappa, as Swappa's sale requirements are rather strict compared to the caveat emptor environment of Ebay.
P. S. Your understanding is correct. The XT1103 will work on all carriers. However Sprint is extremely reluctant to add phones to its network that were not bought through them.
I don't know about "new" but I got one that was "like new". I paid $180 for a 64GB Nexus 6. Also if you're a Costco member they had some Verizon Branded 32GB Nexus 6s that were brand new online. I thought they were too expensive (can't remember how much) but they were new.

What exactly does 'Verizon' branded mean? Does the back case just have their logo and startup splash screen instead of AT&T logo? or is there some Verizon bloatware that comes on it?
AT&T were the only carrier to brand their Nexus 6 devices on the back. Any bloatware from the carrier is added during device setup if a carrier SIm is inserted and is easily uninstalled.

Good for you. But tell that to the others who tried and had to jump through hoops to get Sprint to do their job. Keep in mind, "reluctant" does not mean "willing".
P. S. I don't have Sprint as their service is crap. You couldn't pay me to use them either, unless we were back in the late 1990s.
