[q] [boot animation] 1.31.651.2 - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I'm trying to flash a custom boot. I updated to the new firmware and installed OMJ's rom, and tried to flash my old boot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357926. That didn't work, so I looked to see if the name of the boot animation zip in CID was different, which it was. It's now m7_spcs_startup_animation.zip. Can I just change the name of my zip package and it will replace this? Or does a whole new zip need to be made to flash to that location.?

Correct, a new flashable will need to be made. Butyou can get the non flashable zip and copy paste after changing the name. You just have to rename it to match exactly to the one that is booting currently, and it should boot the new animation. I always just copy paste/overwrite in root explorer. System/customize/resource. That way you can rename the old one in case. Because flashing erases the current ani

The one from system/media. (I think that's where it is ) but wanted to know if there is a different file to change since I'm using a custom boot image already? Thanks a lot
I'm using the stock ROM and have 2.0.1 on the Motorola Droid
What kind of ROM are you using. The Nexus boot animations you just need to push your new one to /system/media if you are on 1.5 or 1.6 ROM then its in /system/framework-res.apk/assets/
am i doing it right?
I'm using the terminal emulator and. Adb push bootanimation.zip. system/media. Is that right? It says file does not exist. Where should I put the file before I push it? SD card root? Thanks for the help

[BOOT] Android Scribble Boot and Shutdown Animations

I've been using Andromeda since it was first released, but I didn't like the Armani branding in the boot and shutdown animations, so I decided to install ones of my choice. My favorite is the Android Scribble animation, the original one with green and gray color. I also used the one with orange color when I ran the themed version of andromeda 2.x for a while. Here they are in one place for easy download.
Boot Animation:
Most custom kernels support custom boot animations using a bootanimation.zip file. This is *NOT* a clockwork mod recovery flashable file, but should be renamed to bootanimation.zip and copied into /data/local/bootanimation.zip (recommended) or /system/media/bootanimation.zip. These boot animations are suitable for most custom roms, as long as the kernel supports it.

Orange Android Scribble boot animation
Shutdown Animation:
The shutdown animation works differently. The png image files must be copied to the /system/media/video/shutdown/ directory. The following files *ARE* flashable from clockwork mod recovery. The current contents of the directory will be overwritten with the new contents. It will not be backed up and will be lost. If you wish to preserve the existing shutdown animation, you should use root explorer or another root file manager to transfer all the current contents of the /system/media/video/shutdown/ directory to a backup location.

I have a question or 2. If I place the bootanimation.zip in the folder you stated, will the kernel go there first or will I also have to delete the original Andromeda bootsamsumg.qmg & bootsamsumgloop.qmg files so there are no problems or boot lock-up? Also you recommended putting zip file in data/local folder. When I go there I have a data folder that is empty. I believe I will have to create the local folder then copy boot.zip into. Is this correct. I'm running Andromeda v3 with Ursa Minor 2 kernel. Thanks

Just place bootanimation.zip in one of the two directories, and then reboot. Nothing else is required. Btw, /data/local/ should be there on andromeda3, I think. I had SpeedMod kernel installed on Andromeda for a while before the new Ursa Minor kernel came out, and it may have created that directory when I installed it. If it's there, it should be an empty directory except for a sub-folder called tmp. If not, you can create it with permissions rwxrwx--x, or just use the /system/media/ directory.
The shutdown animation is a clockwork mod flashable zip file. Copy the file to your sd card, use the power menu, or any method you prefer, to boot into recovery. Ursa Minor kernel (and most custom kernels) contains ClockworkMod Recivery v2.5.1.3. Select "install zip from sdcard" then "choose zip from sdcard" then find the "cwm-scribbleshutdown.zip" file (it's easier to find if you put it in the root of the sdcard), confirm selection and go. It will automatically install the image files into the correct directory. When it's done, go back, go back, and reboot.

[Q] Custom Boot Animations Play Forever!

I'm trying to get custom boot animations working on a stock deodexed ROM. What I've done so far is in /system/bin: deleted "samsungani" and then renamed "bootanimation" to "samsungani". This got rid of the Samsung boot animation in place of the Vanilla Android one and this works fine (although it is rather crap!).
However if I place any custom boot animation at /system/media/bootanimation.zip it works, but it just plays indefinitely and fails to disappear once the Android interface has loaded. I've tried editing the animation settings inside the zip file. I've also tried a boot animation pulled straight out of the Simplicity v2.1 ROM's zip file which doesn't work either, so it is obviously not a problem with the actual bootanimation.zip as that one must be preconfigured to work on an S5830i.
I must need to change something else but I have no idea what? I tried deleting "bootsamsungloop.qmg" "bootsamsung.qmg" from /system/media which done absolutely nothing.
Bump: I think custom ROM developers should know the answer to this or anyone else please?
EDIT: I worked it out. If anyone wants to know, forget about what I said in the first post. It seems that /system/bin/samsungani is modded in ROMs with custom boot animations as there is a difference in file size. So just overwrite your samsungani with the modified version from a ROM's zip file that has a custom boot animation, such as Simplicity v2.1. Then put your bootanimation.zip in /system/media and that's it.
To remove/replace the boot animation sound the file is /system/etc/poweron.ogg, delete it or replace it.

[Q] Changing bootanimation on CM10.1

I always tried to use custom bootanimations on my I9000B running CM10.1, but it never changed, it went straight to that blue android logo.
Yesterday I was exploring the flashable .zip for the ROM and I've found where the bootanimation .zip is stored.
What happens if in the flashable ROM .zip I change the bootanimation to other and flash onmy device? Will the bootanimation change?
Question is answered, it works, changing the bootanimation file in the flashable .zip and then flashing the ROM.
Hi.
Another way is that you peak bootanimation (bootanimation.zip file) from any ROM and file that you want and replace it with root explorer on your ROM and reboot your phone.
It's Work

Help? Unable to change boot animation. Are settings and permissions resetting?

using the .zip from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357926)
I'm trying to change my boot animation. I've place the new animation zip in the /system/customize/resource. I renamed the animation zip to that of "att_bootup_one.zip" since that is the zip file that is called for in the XML file in /system/customize/resource/CID.
I got it to work once. I restarted the phone a second time and all the boot animations were that of a stock HTC one.
The thing I don't understand is; I overwrote the orginal .zip animation and on the second restart (after the first successful restart with new boot animation) the damn original boot screen was back.
I even set the permission on all necessary folders to rwx-rwx-rwx. I am a total rookie and hoping some one can advise me.
Thank you
Also, sorry if this is not the place to post this topic.
EDIT: I found that it will work if I "Power off" then turn the phone on. If I "Restart" boot animation restores to stock.
What ROM and version are you running? I've always placed the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media
Stock kernel has write protection on the system partition, so changed or deleted files return upon reboot. You'll need a custom kernel with the write protection disabled or make the change in custom recovery via an adb shell.

Thanks buddy. This rookie appreciates the advice
This leads me to another question though. I've also tried deleting the orignal boot animation. How does the stock animations come back if I have deleted them?
