Hi I have a faulty Nexus 10 with a cracked screen and battery (randomly failed, not due to same fault as screen), everything else works fine, i was wondering what my best course of action would be? to get it repaired, buy new and keep old as spare, buy new battery (cant get screen for love nor money) or sell the working components and then put the rest towards a new nexus 10. If this is in the wrong section please let me know and i will move it. also if you are interested in buying any components please PM me or reply to this post. It is the 32GB version btw.
Thanks for your advice im really in need of it.
You should put this in question section to get more help

where can i get a replacment screen i dropped mine and its now bust please help thx in advance
Ooops!
Hi, I did the same and the people at O2 replaced it for £70
Not too bad, and I got a new casing as well!
Adam
thanks will give them a try
No they don't!!! already checked with them and be sure to check out the other forums relating to this topic BEFORE you go further - check whether it is just the touchscreen or the whole screen that needs replacing saves you time and money as others have made this mistake!!! I think the £70 price is if you are a U.K O2 contrated owner, cause they told me it was double this price and I was just needing my touchscreen replaced as it was scratched up!!
Hi,
I have a new XDA which basically doesn't work because something in the circuitry is broken and it doesn't make any sound. However eveything else works(what I mean is the phone bit doesn't work, but the PDA side of it does).
What that means is that the screen and other physical external parts are in perfect working order.
So if you are looking for a screen or any other major part,I could be persuaded to part with it at a reasonable price.
DO let me know in this forum and we can arrange things from there.
screen
Hi,
My screen was broken also, did a huge search through the internet and came up with nothing. The only thing that could be replaced was the touch screen, not the lcd screen. I had to sent it back to o2. Cost: 284 Euro!!!!!
It's been 3 weeks now, and I'm still waiting for my phone  .
Succes,
Stefan
The LCD screen and all the physical parts are perfectly ok on my XDA.So someone can make a tidy saving by taking the XDA off me in case their screen is broken.
Any takers please contact me at [email protected]
hm
and how much do you want to have for your broken xda?
I wouldn't like to drive this.Offer me a price and I will let you know if I do accept the price.
But no point asking me to part with it for €50 or something as ridiculous as that as I already have an offer for €75 and am waiting for something better. As I said all the parts are in perfect order and there are no scratches or anything like that.So you get a safety net of all replaceable parts.
I am open to offers on this one.
I was thinking about this and maybe half of what O2 charge to replace the screen is a fair price? On top of the screen, you will get the exterior casing, buttons, stylus the ROM,everything. So I think it is a fair price.Let me know if anyone's interested.

I would be interested in your xda
mail me on [email protected] if you like
Thanks
Martin
Hi Martin,
I have sent you a mail at the mail address you mentioned in your post.
My XDA is no longer available as it has been sold to Martin.
Thanks for the interest guys.
Hi there,
Well I have had my wizard for a while now and the screen has managed to aqiure some scratches over the years and I found out that on ebay you can get a new screen for like £8 with tools and instructions, so this got me thinking, as I really like this phone even though it is old and outdated it still manages to keep up in some areas and thanks to you guys it keeps getting new software and os's so I thought well instead of spending £400 on a new phone why not spend like £50 on a new screen and then possibly fix the biggest problem i have with this phone, the RAM.... its really not enough and i was wondering if it was possible to get a new upgraded RAM chip and just get someone experienced in soldering and stuff to take out the old one and put in a new one. Now I know this really sounds far fetched and even if it is possible it may end up way to expensive, and alot easier to get a new phone but if anyone has any ideas if it is possible id love to know.
PS sorry if this is a seriously dumb question but I like my massive outdated smart phone I just wish it had more ram.
Thanks
Well to all those interested, i have found out that it is possible to get it to 128 MB but it will cost around £70 and i can get a secondhand HTC TYTN II for £100 so I think ill go for that instead.
That's cool
Is it available freely or did you have to do a lot of digging?
And any ideas how to install the new memory?
Well from what i found out in another thread on this site is that a company called retronix will take your phone in and change the ram chips for you. Here is the thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359590
I have sent them an email asking about it but have not recieved a reply.
I hope this will be helpfull for you, I have decided against it as you can buy a second hand tytn II for almost the same price and also as I will start uni in september I will be getting a contract that comes with the Touch Pro 2 cant wait it looks like an awsome phone.
I found a G1 for sale on craigslist and I was curious to see if you think the problem it has is hardware or software related. Follows is the description...(caps was in the original post so please forgive me)
BECAUSE IT WILL BE WORKING FINE AND SOMETIMES WHEN YOU GO TO CLOSE THE PHONE QUICKLY THE SCREEN WILL FADE BLACK AND IT MUST BE TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN TO GET THE SCREEN BACK ON
Does anyone think this is fixable?
They are asking $100 for it.
Thanks everyone!
Personally, I would stay away from it. I have routinely found deals for G1's on ebay for between $120 and $140 that have less wrong with them than some mystery screen problem. My spare G1 I got on ebay for $72 with free shipping and it just has a cracked screen. I am sure you can find a better deal if you are patient and look elsewhere other than CL. Good luck

The problem MAY be software related but im sure that most people who post such ad's are leaving out important details (i.e it started doing that after he dropped in his bathtub )
Hey,
So long story but I lost my phone (the cappy) for a while and I ended up getting a new one (cappy glide) and I then found it. Now I am in the unfortunate position of having to sell this wonderful device because my new phone is using a micro sim and and not a regular one so I have no use for the captivate any longer. Its running the SlimBean Rom 2.5.0, rooted and all that. Everything works fine as far as i can tell (I can't test the sim slot as i only have a micro sim) but nothing is outwardly defective. I have an extended battery on it and it lasts forever. I am trying to find the original back cover and battery. So, my question is does anyone want to purchase this device let me know I'm asking for $100.
Thanks
I'm not sure if you are allowed to sell stuff in this section... I advise that you create a listing under the "Wanting to sell" marketplace forum section.
So I have had a Nexus 6 with a broken LCD sitting in a drawer for a while because screen prices (in addition to Motorola repair options) are much more than I would like, in addition to the phone running a custom ROM with an unlocked bootloader. So today I decided to look on ebay and screen prices are still pretty high, except this one.

Looks like this guy got his hands on one of those prototype LCD assemblies. I'm not sure who would part out and sell one of these but, here it is. I was wondering if this was worth a try or if I should just leave it dead in my drawer. The dude doesn't seem to know what he is selling but, mentions the ribbon cable is a bit short. If anyone can guide me on this, I would appreciate it.
EDIT: Meant to say Prototype rather than Developer, my apologies. If a mod wants to come through and fix the title, that would be great.
Thanks, TriguyRN

Assuming you can do the repair yourself, I would just shell out the extra bit of cash to get a legit LCD. But, if you want to take the risk to save a buck, nothing is holding you back. It did say something about flex cables being different, in which case you would have a bit of trouble. Cheers!
