Do you really think I'm stupid enough to start a thread over a dead battery?

I'm not sure what the devs could do with this because there is a couple of things missing here and there.

I Doubt it.Platform Specific files would be missing.Anyway,Why not wait a few days for an official release?
I dont mind waiting. I just saw the pist on my google+ and was wondering if anyhing could be done

back at google I/O people got JB either from the nexus or from the N7 and there were flashable ROM's before source dropped...so it is possible i think. but it probably wont be complete or very stable.
Also just to throw in, you can download all the system apps from that link

All odexed.. Yech...
not too helpful. as mentioned mostly device specific. its not source, its a dump off the LG

Is there any way to allow installing from an unknown source without rooting? I'm guessing not, but I thought I would ask just in case.

There is now for the HD+. Go to my CWM thread in the development forum and make a bootable CWM and flash the unknown sources/manual OTA zip. You do not need root.

You can do this for the HD as well now. Go to the Nook HD/HD+ CWM Root Tools thread link in LeapinLars signature above.
Just put this together. Here it is for anybody that wants it.
Got the leak from: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17683783/Mako-4-3.torrent
And here's the download: mako-4.3-rooted-signed.zip
Deodex download: http://goo.im/devs/gmillz/mako-4.3-rooted-deodexed-signed.zip
Root may or may not work. If it doesn't flash this

This is only the leaked rom, isn´t it?
Correct me if i´m wrong, but we need the bootloader and baseband to be sure that it works correctly?

Rom is working great for all that flashed it, gmillz is working on deodexed atm but he's having some issues. You can follow the conversation at http://webchat.freenode.net/# #Android43

If you backup & have experience flashing roms, you should be okay. Be safe, though.

Does anyone know where I could find a stock ROM for my HD+? I can't find one in the dev section. I could live with an unrooted version and then root it again.
