4.3 JSS15J - Nexus 4 General

Hey all ..
Latest version of AOSP 4.3 (JSS15J = new n7 codebase) compiles but for me its a bit flakey ... gfx has tearing .. interested if anyone else has compiled it for N4 and sees similar results .. not looked at it at all why there is tearing, that will come later if i cba .. but .. hey that will do for me for a day one release ..
Pull 4.3 -- check
Pull latest vendor binaries -- check
Compile 4.3 JSS15J -- check
Root 4.3 -- check
Install Gapps -- check
Boot JSS15J on N4 -- check
Take screenshot natively -- fail == this 4.3 build no like it, does nothing .. other apps FC
Anyway.. fun few hours and found out what a recent vm on recent hardware could do ..

The code im using is released only at this time for the new Nexus 7 hardware, Nexus 4 cutoff was earlier version, figured it would be fun to see what occured with latest .. so .. to answer the question .. no .. ive not checked battery, ive had it running for approx 30 mins and until i figure why there is gfx glitch .. ill not be running it for long.. sorry pal ..not able to give the answer you need ..

come on man your first post and you ask for battery life... Battery life is different for each person and you will have to test that on your own for accuracy....

Best ROM for PDroid? With close-to-stock experience?

Hi folks,
what's currently the best ROM to use PDroid on the Nexus 7?
I'd prefer an experience as close to a stock ROM as possible. It seems that 4.2.1 ROMs are out (not supported by the AutoPatcher), and I've tried to patch a few of the 4.2 ROMs floating around and haven't had much success either. Who is currently running PDroid and what ROM did you use as a base?

AFAIK opensensation2 has pdroid installed
You haven't had much success because development was dropped a long time ago. It only supports gingerbread.... sorry bud. I loved pdroid too

I should have clarified that I'm using PDroid 2.0, which is under active development for Jelly Bean.
Thanks for the tip regarding OpenSensation. For the time being I now patched a vanilla 4.1.2 AOSP build (4.2.1 is being worked on). Will look at OpenSensation these days.

Well I don't have a Sensation... and OpenSensation for the Nexus seems to be pretty much in beta... not to mention that the OpenSensation developer has been warning people that his server is compromised and that they shouldn't download anything (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35428325&postcount=9591), so I'll be taking my time with this.

Anyone tried CM 10.2 (Android 4.3) yet?

So it looks like Cyanogenmod 10.2 was released early this morning as a nightly. It's based on Android 4.3, which was released for the Nexus devices a few weeks ago I think.
I've been pretty happy with the nightly version of 10.1 I've had on my phone for a couple of weeks now, but I think I might backup my phone and see whether the latest version is worth keeping.
Anyone tried it already and have any comments?
Edit: Tried it, can't use it yet. Keyboard problems, freezing. Oh well.
Been running for about 4 hours at this point, all apps restored.
Had one blue screen reboot on screen wake.
First impression is that it is very smooth. Focal force closes so can't try that.
Camera works but is not stable.
Definitely a beta but off to a good start for the first 10.2. But I can't live with random reboots so back to 10.1-M3 for now.
10.2 has different vold configs
In the 10.1.2 nightlies I was able to manually edit /syste/etc/vold.fstab to swap internal and external sd-card.
This has changed under JB 4.3 and CM 10.2.x. Details are provided here:
http://source.android.com/devices/tech/storage/index.html
[ UPDATE ] Root also works differntly in JB 4.3, so that needs to be sorted as well.

I never restore apps when testing these cause it can cause problems. Did you use Titanium to restore the apps?
No. Just letting the restore function do it from the market.
I installed the nightlies of 8-16-13 and so far (no jinx) hasn't gave me any problems...ofcourse instagram video n pics don't work but other then that its good..so 10.2 cm is based on 4.3? I didn't see it in the tmo cm page...can u share a link if possible?

Yes, it is 4.3.
The test is to see if you can run for several days with no unexpected restarts. If you are able to do that , then be sure and post and tell others about it because that has been the problem for many months now.
All CyanogenMod downloads are always available at http://get.cm
Just scroll down to quincytmo on the left, then choose nightly on top left.
Cool...found it...now there's a newer nightly for 10.1 can I just flash the zip without restarting anythin? Thnx...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T879 using xda premium
If you are running a 10.1 you can just run your cm updater and chosen the new 10.1 nightly.
If you go from 10.1 to 10.2, you should do a typical new ROM procedure. A backup, then factory reset, then flash the new ROM, then the 2013-8-13 gapps, then wipe dalvik and cache, then finally reboot.
I put the boot from the quincytmo 10.2 into the Pacman 4.3 alpha zip. Also using PA 4.3 gapps. Will let you know how it goes.
Been using it for almost 3days. Works great and smooth. At first, youtube seems to crash always, gps doesn't work and i can't download and even update my apps in playstore. (what i did is that reinstall youtube, and sign out my google acct. and then sign in it again to fix playstore and dunno how GPS was fixed . Wiping cache & dalvic cache and rebooting ma phone helped. And now everything's going and works so smooth! N i love it.
Btw focal doesn't work at all. Dunno how to fix it. Always crashes.
Other than that.. Still the best )

You'll have to use TWRP for ATT. Also, flash the T-Mobile radio too. This isn't supported for T-Mobile so backup and flash at your own risk.

No reboots or anything, just a bit slow out of sleep mode. I went back to Padawan 9 for now as I'm going out tonight and don't want any surprises when I go to take a photo.
hahahaha true that...ok ima give it a shot! u are always helpful fraught! u should be a developer with all that knowledge you have and ure in LA i'm in Pomona so u ain't too far bro! well have fun n i'll post my experience of 4.3 pacman....oh have you injected anything on any other ATT roms? like pimpdroid rom? I think that's what its called...and I heard rootbox is good too...what about injected the bootimage to an official ATT JB rom? have you tried that?

Honestly, all I'm doing is swapping files around with winrar. There has to be a compatible boot image though. Unfortunately, without a T-Mobile official JellyBean update, I don't think we can use ATT touchwiz JB roms. A shame as I installed Padawan JB on my friend's i717 and it was killer.
Really though, there are already enough 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 roms to keep me occupied for the time being. I've sort of shyed away from the 4.2 roms as of late and have been just playing with the very stable 4.1 setups as I don't want my phone rebooting on me while I'm at a party or want to have my camera instantly available.
Well to know how to swap files id be lost! I used to have a quincyatt and yeah padawan was really good but 4g speeds on tmobile network were horrible...yeah there are lots of roms but the more we get the more excited we get...

What radio are you using with Padawan? I've just been using UVLG3 modem and it's been good enough for streaming youtube.
Ive been using that one and yes its really good but here I meant was I used to use blaze modem with att phone and it was horrible speeds...thats why I switched to tmo note...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T879 using xda premium
Some of you may read the ATT Note forum. Over there the member ~SoulTaker~ has been compiling Cyanogenmod 10.2 on his own for those users. Because Cyanogenmod has not been creating 10.2 nightlies for the Note.
I have a compile and upload routine setup to produce UNOFFICIAL 10.2 nightlies for the Tmobile note if you want to try them. all are working OK so far, they are the same as what we would be getting from the Cyanogenmod build servers if they were building nightlies for us. All the standard warnings apply.
Here is the link to my google drive folder with the files. Click on the file you want, you will get an error because it can't preview, then look for the download arrow on the bottom right of the screen, click that.
Changelog is the regular 10.2 changelog (when it is up) and look between the date of the last file and the newest. http://10.2.cmxlog.com/?device=quincytmo
NOTE** I am just generating the zip file from Cyanogenmods github, not creating anything. So can't help you if you want a feature or fix or something.

I think that this ROM broke 4g. I had 4g before I flashed this ROM. I restored my stock ROM backup after my test and 4g still doesn't work.
I will try ODIN'ing back to stock and re-load the modem and try again.

Honestly 4.2 TO 4.3 is more of a performance thing from Samsung. This thing flies considering its only a leak and the guys with the i9505 doing benchmarks are saying there's much improvement in optimizing TW. Some are reporting crazy antutu numbers with TW 4.3 almost close to its counter-part the octa core on 4.2 I noticed a nice peformance gain with the camera speed and load times on certain things and the new camera firmware and software they pushed out the camera looks sharper and pictures look way better. They also optimize the color reproduction and sharpness of text and images. I really think with TW 4.3 Samsung is just giving us what the GS4 should have been like when it was released
Edit: I am uploading a new version in a little so you guys don't have to download 3 things anymore it will just be one file :good:

WHich nexus 4 kitkat rom are you currently on?

SO guys ,as we know 4.4 official custom roms of paranoid android ,cm11,omnirom(feature complete),Aokp etc are still not out.. So i thought lets make a thread as to which rom is everyone currently using till the official roms come out
SO i would want to know which rom are you currently using?? Is it worth flashing a custom rom??
I am currently on psx rom with psk and i am loving it .. faced no bugs as yet and i definitely find it better than the stock rom because of its various customizations etc .. ..sadly this may be the last public release of the pure speed x rom .. so go check it out ..

These type of threads, including the existing one, aren't really allowed. They're too close to "what's the best".. the only reason we allowed that other one was because of the large amount of threads we were closing with similar topics.. Please continue to use that one.

Hey can i install this rom with cwm and how?
Verstuurd vanaf mijn GT-I9300 met Tapatalk
I quickly tried this one, but keep getting fc's when trying to use dialler. Keeps say telling me contacts has had an error.
Did a full clean install before trying, wiped everything, cache, system, preload and even formatted internal sd card.
Will try again tonight and see if it still happens.

I have no dialer / contact problems. Try Wiping your internal storage, might be some lingering data.
Anyway, more feedback after using the ROM for a half day.
The battery doesnt seem to be as good as the Reviva ROM (however, I used Googy Max kernel with Reviva, ill reflash Googy Max and report back)
As for the performance, its not that good (don't get me wrong, its one of the best among the 4.3 ROMS) I just think that 4.3 is a real screw up. The transitions do lag quiet often, or maybe i just got used to running AOSP kitkat.
In all Honesty, the best ROM i ever used was Reviva based off the Samsung 4.2.2 Leak. That gave me a day and a half usage (4.3 and 4.4 currently give me just under a full day, 4.3 beating 4.4 by a slight margin) and the performance was amazing
I honestly hope we get a 4.4 update and then a SlimROM KitKat .
I know this sounds weird but you wouldnt have to have a backup of your ICS ROM would you? I was never a fan of jellybean, trying to force the system to render at 60fps is a flawed approach, im sure jellybean was Google's temporary solution while they worked on KitKat. In fact, KitKat is still beta, I'm sure they have been planning Kitkat memory rewrite + dalvik removal for some time.

The performance isnt bad. Like I said. Among 4.3 its good. It has what I call "Samsung lag" like when u pull down the notification bar or unlock the phone.
Just the battery life isnt as good as reviva. Like I said ill flash Googy Max and test it tomorrow.
thanks for the ROM.
tried to flash it using Philz recovery and CWM , downloaded the rom twice "so it is not bad/damaged downloaded file" .
