Hey XDA.
I'm sitting here with my newly rooted LG phone. And now i want to install a custom kernel. The problem is, i dont know which to choose and what settings after install..
I have looked at iodak kernel because that is whst i found that is compatible with stock rom.
Anybody that can tell pro and cons of different kernels and what settings i should set i to for maximal battery life with 3g always on.
Thank you

Cyanogenmod and werewolf kernel, since the last update of werewolf i think its the best kernel for gaming and has a great performance and battery life, also livecolors are available with ararargis Toolbox

Does werewolf work with mokee rom?

Stock ROM + iodak gives performance similar to initial v10a ICS. Which is blazing fast

i agree aswell :good:
iodak v6 if you have Stock ROM
Optimus Prime is you have a Cyanogen-mod based rom
Either way always do a full nandroid backup before trying any new kernel or ROM.
Good luck!
Why optimus prime over werewolf?

Its all down to preference. Try all if you have too, its very quick to flash a kernel and no factory reset required (usually) I like iodak and werewolf, I would probably like optimus prime too if it supported stock rom

Well im using optimus prime on stockrom and its great good baterry life and no problems at all for me

Both "Werewolf" and "Optimus Prime" are good kernels. But they are a bit different. I'm actually using Optimus Prime v2.7 for 2 reasons: it has WHEATLEY Processor Governor (which is quite fast and it doesn't drain battery really fast) and it uses a sort of Hybernation of the cellphone, when screen is turned off.
Werewolf is good tho, but it drains too much battery.
Anyway, i'm really disappoint about the wifi drivers, which seem to drain a lot of battery, when Wifi is enabled. The wlan_rx_wake wake locks wake up the device too many times, so the battery does not perform really well in any kind of kernel (custom, cm stock and LG stock). I have to disable it and use data traffic only, otherwise smartphone will shut down in few hours.

to continue using the stock like feeling with amazing performance, battery life....and most importantly stability...flash the Django Manouche 1.5 RC3...you can choose, from a lot of Kernels, apps, features with the aroma installer....
See my signature for reference...
i reccomend paranoidandroid jellybean flavoured...
Eagles blood ics with harsh kernel has been very good even though I have to say just Eagles blood ics without any special kernel seems to be better battery life.

I agree! I use it and it's really nice, with very few bugs, I think that stock Gingerbread have more bugs than Paranoid Android
I've installed CM7 and it's been working out nicely for me.

there are no kernels that support overclocking yet. have to wait for someone to release a kernel that supports overclocking.

Recently i switched from my evo 3D to O4X ,ive been using the lg stock rom with various kernels for a while ,yesterday i flashed CM 10.1 it seems nice but lg's soft just kinda seems more personalized and feature rich ,with cm i feel kinda blank ,like its just not that fun to use it ,i know its the stock android but still... I switched from evo 3D too... First i were using stock for a while, then i flashed cm 10.1, but after 1 week i flashed stock rom via KDZ, because i like stock rom more than custom roms on o4x.
Both have Pros and Cons. At the end it's your choice of taste.
I know I could flash CM and give my phone a somewhat boost. But honestly, I do like the LG Stock interface more than the CM one.
Right now I'm running v20A with Idoka kernel, some tweaks trough Trickster app and my battery + performance has improved quite a bit.
I like a device for its long battery,
Im on cm10.1 newest nigthlys
Running rock solid good
Set my cpu to 1000mhz and stock kernel
Battery is very satisfying for me
I do miss the lg stock rom sometimes but i dont like the bloatware and battery life

to be honest i don't see the point getting CM10.x and wanting all the stock stuff....
maby you could try a different kernel like iodak/werewolf on your stock rom. To get a lot of settings done on the cpu/gpu side.
it will improve your batterylife and preformance in my opinion and still having all the "great" options from stock.
just my 2 cents.
Wim
Now that i think, you are totally right, it havnt any point change to aosp like CM, and conserv stock stuff.. What i want to, is to have a better rom, improve the battery, something smother and diferent, Than my Phone go faster that it can, conserving those kind of stuff that i mentioned before. You recomend me to install a diferent kernel? On a OS stock 4.1.2? How can i do that? Or if you know a rom with all The caracteristics that i want to, but whit The versión 4.2.2 o if is 4.1.2 be something that you can say: WOW i love it *-* Jaja.
Thanks

Are their any mods or anything compatible with this device to help speed up performance?
I have seen some but I'm not sure about compatibility because I'm running Carbon ROM and I'm not sure if that affects compatibility.

Create a nandroid backup and try pureperformanceX. I'm using that with Validus 13's KK rom and it is fast with great battery life. I also turn off all animation in Developer Options as well.
I've used PureperformanceX on my LG P930 and it works quite well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360985
Like stated I've turned off animation options and I use Lagfix (had to grab the apk from google) and I run that periodically and also DU Battery Saver has an "optimize" shortcut that ends background processes. I also underclocked my cpu to run at 1ghz instead of 1.5ghz seems to have helped me also.

I'm using the latest Carbon nightly. I'm waiting for the Carbon devs to update the nightlies 4.4.x. I like the stability of Carbon so I hope they can continue it with the kit Kat update
Edit: latest Carbon nightly is 4.3.1 if you're wondering
