Sprint HTC one bricked? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

So I wanted to root my htc one and install a custom rom on it and everything went wrong. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed twrp, installed superuser. I then tried to install android revolution hd 12.1. after installing it from sd card it said that my device was not rooted and it rebooted and now i am stuck on the bootloader screen. I cannot try and install the rom again due to all my data being wiped somehow and I have relocked the bootloader and tried to run the ruu to return to stock but it says I need the correct ruu i updated to 1.31. someone please help!!!
It is loading to the "htc quite brilliant" screen and it wont go no farther, I can still get into bootloader and recovery though

Sprint Htc One issues
I am having a very similar issue! I just want to be able to use my phone whether stock or rooted now. Help!!!!!!

If you can access the boot loader, unlock it again then use TWRP's sideload feature to flash the ROM. Or you can probably find. The correct RUU in the sprint one forum.

Once you guys get your phone's fixed, make sure to flash a sprint compatible Rom. Android revolution hd isn't compatible for our phones yet

Seriously. The number of people who've managed to put themselves in this situation is staggering. We may just want to have a PSA sticky that says not to flash that ROM.
OP, you should at the least put your phone into fastboot because an RUU will not run with the bootloader open, but I'm not sure if there's a new RUU available for the latest OTA.

Fortunately you are not bricked try out this tool it makes your recovery so much easier http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236814 with this you can flash a recovery and sideload a rom, you might have to also click the download HTC drivers as well. Make sure you sideload a SPRINT compatible Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2219. GL!
So find a Sprint Rom you like and download it, then from bootloader you can use this tool and sideload a rom and flash a recovery.

Ive got it to install a rom, i installed viperrom. After i did that and it boots up it says I have no service and the phone will reboot on its own. what do i do now?

You will likely have to RUU back to stock. The non Sprint Rom probable buggered the partitions or the baseband. Look in android development to find the RUU file you need. I don't think you can use the older one if you got the recent OTA.

Thats what I want to do go back to stock. Do you know where the ruu for 1.31 is?

I can't find it. I heard it was out there in a thread recently. Here is the older one though. That may work, I haven't tried though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=
I haven't explored it myself, but I saw anecdotal posts stating that they were able to use the older RUU.

what do you mean?

Might have to wait for the RUU file to drop then. Coming from Samsung devices for a long time, I'm used to being able to use Odin to go back to older factory firmware without issue. It's a bummer. Maybe someone more versed will have better info.

Does the Non-Sprint HTC One threads say "Sprint"? No.
Are the Sprint HTC One forums labeled "Sprint"? Yes.
Do nearly all the ROM threads in the non-Sprint forums say something along the line of "not for Sprint variant" including the revolution HD thread (all US carriers apart from Sprint)? Yes.
Just take a minute to read through the thread before flashing something. I mean, this is an expensive device where messing with system level files CAN ruin it (obviously) So, don't go jumping into stuff if you aren't going to take the time to understand it.

Thank you! I am going to try that now! i appreciate the help, I just want to be up and running again

I thought that fix is just to remove the 4.2.2 multi user sd card issue. I don't think that'll fix your baseband issue. Might be wrong though...

Yes you will lose root and you would also need to relock your bootloader as well.

MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!
Make sure that if you have a custom recovery that is is updated & double check that it is. Write the version numbers down to confirm, both before & after.
There was an early recovery that could not (CANNOT) be overwritten without flashing a modified PH39IMG file first, then flashing stock or new modified recovery.
If you update with your device with that original recovery, you may be very sorry.
Ok so I put the ICS that Pirate put up before he got mad and took it down. Doing what I had to do in order to get that on my ohone, does that, mean I'm already set to use this RUU and get the "official" ICS update if I so choose?

No you need to relock the bootloader in order to use the RUU.
Ok that's what I had thought, just all this talk of different recoveries and stuff started to confuse me lol... Thanks for the help

Stock Vivid and Beyond ICS
After reading some of the posts - I have a few questions.
I have a stock AT&T Vivid. I believe I can just install the following directly - correct?
http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_vivid_att_RUU_3.26.502.56_US.exe
Then after upgrade to ICS -- can some one point me to the correct direction to ROOT and SIM UNLOCK the Vivid after I upgrade to ICS?
Thank you!
Run the ruu...Unsure of which tools exactly are for just rooting youl, have to either call att for a simunlock code or purchase one from online

So, just to confirm, I assume that "YES" I can run the update on stock AT&T (no rooting required) and then after I upgrade to ICS any RUU will root -- nothing special to root ICS?

RUU=ROM Update Utility. These are full builds released from HTC that will NOT have root. A lot of custom ROMs are built from an RUU, but rooted during the cooking process.
thanks works great! a little slow on my virtual machine windows but that's not the ruu's fault, it's my lack of memory. one thing it doesn't tell you is to put it into fastboot mode.
do we know if Rogers Raider can work with this ?
anybody with rogers already flashed this, please confirm.

Hi I just got a Vivid today and was wondering where to start. I am coming from a unlocked Dell streak using streak mod recovery. This uses clockwork I take it. Was wondering what the s on and s off stuff is and which is the best root method. I've seen 3. Btw this is a att locked vivid.
Thanks for any help and nice to meet you all.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
"S-ON" means security on. So that means you can't flash unsigned ROM's. And the best way to start with the rooting and unlocking is with the "[SUPERGUIDE] ICS-Root-Flash-Stock" or the "[TOOL] HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit V2.2 [6-7-2012] [PERM ROOT] [Noob-Proof]" If you're a complete noob. They're both in the development part for the Vivid at the top of the list. Best of luck to you.
S-off is most useful for allowing the recovery to flash the kernel in a new ROM. You can still do this manually via fastboot and a PC. Other than that, you should be able to flash the other parts of the ROM without s-off, but Your Mileage May Vary.
The process for s-off is detailed in the Vivid Android development section as well, but be warned it is marginally difficult and requires a Phillips 000 screwdriver in order to remove one of the backplate on the phone. That being said, it is a worthwhile endeavour and you only need to do it once. Since you're already on AT&T, you don't need to worry about getting the ICS hboot on your phone, so this process is one step easier.

Also in the superguide in the development section where it talks about flashing kernels, there is an app there that lets you flash kernels in android so you do not have to do it in fastboot. Hope you enjoy your phone.

[Q] HTC dev bootloader unlocked via HTC Dev - hwo to install custom ROM though?

Hey, I unlocked my HTC Dream (Rogers, post 911 patched) bootloader from the HTC Dev site: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/
The Dream/G1 bootloader unlock code is now provided by HTC themselves. Everything went smoothly but I don't know what to do next. I know I needed to do this to install custom ROMs (I'm on android 1.5 right now, want to go to gingerbread 2.3) but i have no clue how/where to start.
Any help would be seriously appreciated.

I'm not quite ready for a custom ROM. I've been following the progress of a couple though. It always seems like there is never a final version to custom ROMS and usually a couple useful features are sometimes missing.

Same forum you find the custom ROMS in.
And even with stock ROMs there's never a final version, hence you wanting to update the device. Read, learn, get your feet wet.
Otherwise, just reflash stock recovery and let it update when there's an update.

I browsed through all 9 pages of the htc One android development threads but didn't find it. You're right, I didn't fully answer your question there are a bunch of SafeStrap threads out there and a few of them have the answers you're looking for, but not the one I linked to.
Since we have a locked bootloader we cannot flash things that aren't signed by Samsung. SafeStrap gets around this by redirecting everything to a different data partition. Unfortunately it can only do this after the kernel loads, and since there's no way to flash a different kernel you're stuck with the stock kernel on your phone. This is important.
You can only flash ROMs that work with the stock kernel on your phone. So since you are on MF3, you can only use ROMs that are based on 4.2.2 TouchWiz. If you're on MI2 then you can flash 4.3 TouchWiz-based ROMs. So you are very limited as to what you can flash.
As for not being able to get ROMs to work, you need to make sure you have enough free space when creating a ROM slot, 4-5 GB should be plenty. You cannot share apps or data between different ROM slots so be careful with your space. You should be able to get the GPE ROM to work, I'm using it right now. So completely delete your ROM slot 1 and recreate it. Then follow the steps exactly as they are written in the thread I linked to and make sure you flash the proper module files for your phone.
If you have any other questions, let me know.
Ty for being more in depth in ya answer and that... I have tried the gpe room three times and it never boots it goes to Android stock recovery..

Three questions:
What stock firmware are you on?
What version of SafeStrap are you using?
What modules are you flashing afterwards?
If you could link to everything, including the ROM it would be helpful.

You need to be using SafeStrap 3.65 if you're on MF3. 3.71 is for 4.3 stock ROMs (MI2). One you do that everything should work just fine.

There are two known issues with GPE, read the thread they've been talked about in depth. Also that thread is probably where this question belongs.
As you've reported this is one of the known bugs, there is no fix. The other is that you cannot see your phone's storage from a computer when connected via usb. Again there is no fix.
Please post all ROM-related questions in their respective threads.
