Wajee De-Sensed Rom How-Tos - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Good Morning,
I installed Wajee DeSensed Rom on my HTC Vivid. It's my first ROM (cherry-popped).
I am S-ON.
I'm trying to find my way around and figure out how/what is different and how I do what I do.
The Wifi isnt working, it just gets stuck in turning on.
I read in the Devs forum that I have to flashboot the boot.img from the Zip.
How do I get to the boot menu on this Rom?
EDIT - I got to boot menu using Hasoon Toolkit but how EXACTLY do I manually flashboot the boot.img? Where does the boot.img need to be? I put in on my c drive, connected my phone to computer and at dos prompt typed 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' and my computer responded "fastboot is not recognized command"
I installed this ROM by using ROM Manager with TWRP backup.
After Roms are installed how do I get back all my apps and data that I backed up? I backed it all up with Titanium Backup. I also have app-backup and restore. Do I have to go back to store and re-download those two apps and then use those same programs to get the rest of my stuff back?
Thanks all
EDIT --
--Figured out that when I hold power button and go to reboot it asks if I want to got bootloader or recovery - Woo_hoo
--Now figured out that I need to have fastboot program installed on my computer. -- Did that but still nothing, Trying to reboot computer as env variables may not be pickud up dynamically in Win?
--flashed the kernel or installed boot.img again via Hasoon kit. Installed the ROM again this time just doing a Davlik cache(WTF is this - I have no idea) and rebooted, still no Wifi

Open a cmd window by right clicking in the folder and hit " open cmd window here". Then type fastboot flash boot boot.img.

Hmmm?
When I right click in a folder I get:
View, Sort By, Group By, Refresh,Customize this Folder...,Paste,Paste Shortcut,Undo Copy, Share With, (Some SVN stuff), New,Properties
but no "open cmd window here"
I'm on Windows 7

It should be there. Try right clicking on boot.img and see if it appears

It appears that we're talking about different places.
When I go to my Windows machine and rightclick on a folder or file I dont get what you get.
It appears that you might be doing it on a Mac or you're doing it right from your phone.
I don't know how to navigate to a directory on my phone without ES File explorer or Astro. Even if I could get there does it mean I need some sort of terminal emulator program installed on my phone too to be able to run the fastboot command.
Thanks for your replies.
EDIT -- Found this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270 about boot.img.
It worked when I put the boot.img into the same directory where fastboot.exe was located. more importantly Wifi now works. Thanks again for your replies -- I get by with a little help from my friends

Now that I got Wifi working I need to understand about getting all my apps/games etc loaded back since I installed a new ROM. I have a Titanium Backup on SD card. Do I need to go back into Play Store and redownload Titanium Backup and/or App Backup and Restore and then get all my stuff back? Is that the easiest way? I cant imagine that after loading a new ROM you have to go get all your ish over and over again.
Thanks all

Have you read through Darch's post on how to flash this recovery? Just click on the link in my sig for this particular thread. This is not directly flashable from the sd card. You need to flash it via adb
edit* You have read the thread, do you know how to flash via adb?
Based on your signature, I'm going to assume you are already rooted.
My first question is do you have the Android SDK installed on your computer? My Next question is have you already placed the recovery image on your SD Card (if you are using apps2sd you will want to place it on the FAT partition, but do not place it in any folders)
If you can answer yes two both question above, then go ahead conncect your phone to your computer with the cable and run the sdk in a command window or terminal window (depends on if you are using Windows or Linux) and type the following:
adb shell
flash_image recovery /sdcard/nameofrecovery.img (changing the "nameofrecovery.img" to the name of the image file on your sdcard)
If you run into any problems or if you don't know how to install the sdk post back and I will give you an alternative method to try.
Yes to everything. I tried typing that from recovery and while in the phone with usb debugging on and charge only. It just kept giving me errors.

Change from charge only to sync and it should work. Make sure ur in the sdk/tools folder and type adb remount before u type in the adb shell command
If you are still having trouble, you may want to just grab from the market a neat little program called Gscript (paid version) or Gscript Lite (adware) and create a script to flash the recovery image.
Once you install it on your phone the steps are:
Start GScript
Click on the phone's Menu Key and select Add Script
Give your script an easily identifiable name
Make sure there is a check mark in the Needs SU? box
then you can type in the command to flash recovery which would be:
flash_image recovery /sdcard/"nameofimagefile" (changing the name to whatever the name of the recovery image you stored on you sd card is)
then click on save.
The script should now appear in the list of availble scripts - just click it to run it. If SuperUser Permissions pops up requesting permission click on allow and you should see message at the bottom that the window will close in 19 seconds.
To verify if this worked for you go ahead and manually reboot into recovery mode - Power off the phone, then press and hold the home key while pressing and releasing the power button.
Let me know how you make out with this.

[Q] how to get the STOCK 2.2.2(v10b) back ???

please help guys,
ri8 now m on CM7,

i've tried NVflash and smartflash as well,

is there any other way to get the stock rom back.
(i do have the stock rom back ups but through CWM is denying the restore comand...shows md5 doesnt match)
Try the modaco roms, those can be flashed from recovery n are based on official roms so they are definitely stable

but the thing is i am not sure weather CWM will be able to flash them...
which modaco would u suggest???
and one more thing, after 20 trials of 'smartflash' 21st has worked...it showed the msg 'download complete' after 3 minutes and has rebooted itself !!!!
but, when i insurt the battery and restart it my CM7 was still there !!!! :-O
I flashed back to the original rom, downloaded the original stock rom from this forum.

The only modaco Rom tt you can get off modaco is the vanilla version. You can also get edited modacos off xda, I'm using 1 now myself but I can't remember which
Also on this Rom I can't run plants vs zombies, I'm considering to go back to cm7 currently

Why are you unable to use nvflash?
(assuming you're using windows vista or windows 7)Instead of just running flash.bat directly, have you tried running it from a command prompt? To open command prompt on the nvflash folder, hold down shift, right click and select open command window here. then run flash.bat and post your error message if you get any.
I also assume you have correct drivers installed (check device manager).
If you are connecting the phone via usb hub, front panel or extension cable, connect it directly to a back panel usb port.
Is this the one you have used?

Revert back to ext3 and flash back You still on ext4

Run cmd and cd into the nvflash directory.
or you can download "Open Command Window Here" powertoy from here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-xp
and you will get an entry on folder right click menu to open a prompt on that folder.
Then run nvflash from cmd and post the results here if you get an error.
The reason why you should run it from cmd and not run the bat directly is that if it's not programmed to halt on error, it will just disappear without any notice. If you run it from cmd you will see any errors it will throw.

cwm touch

So iam running bo 2.0.1 with cwm 5.5.0.4. Tried to update to cwm 6 touch by replacing cwm image in pretty much all the aio's.. it'll either say it pushed and still reboot into old cwm or I'll get permission denied on /data/local/temp/sh and mmcblk14 even after giving them all read write and execute permission. Can someone help me get this on my revo? Maybe a guide to do it with adb? It would be much appreciated..... sorry if this is posted in wrong section... I wasn't sure where it would be seen by the dev 's who can help
All I had to do was use this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630821
After you unzip that file, download the CWM 6.0.0.0 img file and rename it cwmrecovery.img and replace the one in /files. Then run the Run Me.bat and select option 2 - it says Root and CWM 5.5.0.4, but since you replaced the img file it'll push the one you want. Make sure your phone is in Internet Connection more and turn on USB Debugging. I hope that works!

The same exact way I've done it. Numerous times with no success. It said it pushed but reboot back into 5.5.0.4
Anyone else have this problem? How can I achieve this with adb or file explorer... the method posted just isn't pushing the image...
To do it from within the phone... (Insert the usual disclaimers here about messing your phone up here. It's all you from here on out)
You can open up the .bat batch file of one of the rooting tools that have CWM install scripting.
Copy the commands they perform in preparation for the procedure. Remove adb shell and push from the commands as you will be doing this from inside the phone, not via adb. I think you might have to remove some open/close quotation marks too, unnecessary from the terminal prompt.
Rename the new CWM file to match the command prompt change the command to match the new CWM filename.
Move that file to the expected location (/local/tmp if I recall correctly).
Use app Terminal Emulator to create a terminal windows and type su and Press enter. That will get superuser access.
Then, issue the commands you took note of from the batch file.
Reboot to Recovery to test if successful.
I used this basic process to get CWM on after rooting stock ZV9 a few weeks ago. Combing through a couple different batch scripts, I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to bork my phone. The adb remount command doesn't seem to work after rooting for some reason. That seems to be the cause of adb failure to update CWM.
If you get into trouble, I can't help you much there as I'm not that advanced. Good luck.
Anyone else with tips please chime in and help the chap

Didnt work.. iam hoping that resetting back to stock and using that image from the start will work

[Q] No OS - Please help - TWRP - 4.2.2 - Rooted

Hey everyone,
So about 1 hour ago I attempted to install a kernel onto my rooted HTC One through Team Win Recovery Project. I got onto the kernel and loaded it
Once I was finished i went to reboot my phone and it shows the HTC splash screen and does nothing. I waited but with no response.
I got back onto the recovery screen to find out i no longer had an OS.
My computer (Windows 7 64-bit) cannot detect my HTC One. I have a couple of save backups i had done through TWRP available on my computer, but not on my One.
I have attempted to boot into the HTC screen (Power + Volume down) and tried a factory reset, but it just sent my back to the TWRP.
How can i reload my OS? Im not very experienced with android so step by step instructions would be just great.
Thank you very much
Also, i forgot to mention. I was running the stock ROM.

Since you can still access recovery..
1. Find a guide on how to 'adb push' or 'adb sideload' a ROM to your phone.
2. I'd recommend a ROM that doesn't require AROMA installer, it makes it a little easier. For now, CM 10.1 will be fine.
3. Once you can access your phone again, put your backups onto your phone from your computer.
4. Restore your backup in recovery.
Or you could just buy a USB-OTG cable and put the backup on a USB and restore in it TWRP.

Or, instead of redbull's approach, you can boot the phone into recovery, then (after reading about how to install and run ADB), use "adb push" to push the recovery files to the phone:
Code:
adb push /path/to/TWRP /data/media/0/TWRP
If that directory doesn't exist, you can probably push to /data/media/TWRP instead. After this, you should see your backups in TWRP and can recover them.

I have tried both methods now.
For redbull's approach, as i try to put my phone into ADB Sideload mode through TWRP, TWRP simply says Starting ADB Sideload Feature... but does nothing. I have left it for a little while to no avail.
I have noticed when i put in the command "adb devices" it shows my device as a "host" and i checked on another thread and i believe it should show up as "device". Any ideas?
Worst case scenario i will have to wait a few more days for my OTG Cable to arrive from eBay and then hope that it works from there.

Once you start the sideload, that's when you command 'adb sideload name_of_rom.zip'. Make sure the rom zip is in the same folder as your adb and fastboot files. Or 'adb sideload ' then drag your zip into the cmd window.
Also, if you're using a usb 3.0 port - they have been known to cause problems.

Thanks. Finally got my phone running on CyanogenMod, and I was able to get in a factory reset to remove all the data etc from the old rom.
Just a final question though XD
On TWRP I go to the restore option but I don't find anything there. I have put the backup folder in /data/media/0/TWRP but it doesn't appear in the restore option. Any idea of where i should put the files?
Thanks
/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/
There will be another folder inside the above with a random string of alpha numeric characters. The backups are inside there.
If you perform a backup, you will see its location. Then you can place any others in there also.

[Q] Boot loop and ADB push problems. Please help.

Ok there is a lot info about this however I have a few issues that makes it difficult for me to get past.
I unlocked and rooted just fine. No issues.
I flashed the elemental kernel as I wanted the knock on feature. That was when I ran into problems and my backup doesn't work.
I started getting the "com.htc.htcdailer" isn't responding issue. Then the phone reboots. I am not up long enough to load a rom to flash either.
When I try to sideload anything it doesn't work. I did update all the SDK files like I found in some searches. No go.
I am at a loss now what to do. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Boot into TWRP, download this driver:
http://www.koushikdutta.com/post/universal-adb-driver
Connect it to your PC in TWRP mode to your computer and Windows Device Manager, update the driver pointing to the one downloaded.
It should install with out an issue and the device should be detected thru ADB. Now all you need to do is push the rom via ADB. I recommend Cyanogenmod as its very small to push. I cannot quite remember the command to push a file as it can be complicated in the folder parts, but use this to push easily:
http://skipsoft.net/download/toolkit/nexus7toolkit/Google_Nexus_7_ToolKit_v5.0.0.exe
Ignore the fact that it's for the Nexus 7. Once it's installed, navigate to My Computer, click your hard drive and you should see a folder called Nexus 7 toolkit or similar (if not there check in Program Files). Look for an exe called "tkmain" and create a shortcut of it on your desktop. Keep that folder section open for now. Double click it. MAKE SURE YOU CAN SEE YOUR DEVICE SERIAL ON TOP TO ASSURE ITS CONNECTED. Now go to the same folder you saw the tkmain.exe and you should see a folder that says "Put Files to Push here". Drop the rom in there. I recommend naming it something short like "cyanogen.zip" for example. Now back on the toolkit, select the option that says Push file (I think it's option 13), answer Yes to the insecure boot image question, when it says select a file to push you should see the name of the rom zip , type it exactly as its name/you renamed it. When it says select a location, select /sdcard/ and proceed with the rest. It may seem like nothing is going on, and it may say something about "failed: success" beforehand, but trust me it's pushing, once it says complete, your ready to flash the rom.
Remember that if your S-Off, you need to flash the boot.img seperately via fastboot.

The ROM must be in the folder that says "put files to push here" (make sure its that folder as I remember that another one seems similarly worded) from the toolkit program directory. You have to manually place your file there. If anything, close the toolkit and reopen it (remember, tkmain, the other section of the program is all Nexus related) and try again. Remember also to shorten the name so you don't have to type it in completely. Somewhere above where your supposed to type the file name you should see your ROM file. That's when you type it in exactly as you see it, for example, "rom.zip" you will type it in exactly like that.

Do you have an adb/fastboot folder set up? If so, time for some manual method. Grab the ROM zip and put it in the same folder as your ADB and fastboot folder. Start adb thru command prompt then type in:
Code:
adb push ROM.zip /storage/sdcard
Hopefully I remembered it correctly. Should be that way.

I finally got the RUU to work. What a week and seems fine now.
Last piece of advice hopefully. All I want is the tap to wake feature. Stock is fine.
What is the best way to do that? When I tried using other kernals is when I ran into problems.
Thanks for the help.

Lol i misread that disregard the rest. What custom kernel are you trying to use? Remember each device is the same but also different. I had 2 LG G2s that would not double tap to wake, but would double tap to sleep. All the rest of them worked perfectly. Have also came across friends with G2s that wouldnt work

Best way is to flash the kernel in my signature. After you flash it, double tap to wake should be working automatically.
