So sexy! I love the minimalism that this brings, especially with changing the HTC logo in the middle to a home button and adding an extra button. If only...
What are your thoughts?

I guess I'm just digging the minimalism
Yeah but compared to what? Aside from the camera being in the center and the blink feed being white I don't see how it's anymore minimal.

The lock screen looks amazing with no clutter, the notification shade looks clean too with the toggles and notifications really fitting the white theme well. Another thing I dig is just the look of the status bar in comparison to the weird shaded gray one we have right now as well as the battery.
It almost falls in line with the new Google Card UI which I think looks very clean.
Hmmm... I see now. Actually, why isn't there a white theme floating around? Someone should work on that. I'd give it a shot.

The HTC Logos should go bye bye. They're stupid. Not to mention the FCC and beats.
And if we're going for minimalism here, I think the screen should remain edge to edge (hello?), the camera should go back to the top right corner to save space (again, really?) and the capacitive buttons should be replaced with on-screen ones.
The UI looks great. It's pretty much what Apple is doing with iOS 7. Using a fixed palette of colors and using little to no 3D effects.
I would draw up what I wished the One looked like, but I'm no artist.
Again, just a quick sketch. No hard buttons, a slightly translucent Blinkfeed, a washed out clock and Nav bar, fewer speaker holes (?) and the camera where it currently is. EDIT: Just realized that I left out the Notification bar... lol. EDIT: And the dock for apps.
Also, I think the guy has a point. The whole launcher thing has gone too far in my opinion. We really don't need a widget to tell us what an app can do in much greater depth. I'm just hooked onto the feel of launchers, so I can't readily quit. I will try to Use Blinkfeed as a standalone from now on. Let's see how that goes. I also like the idea of dividing blinkfeed. This guy has some really nice ideas.

That would be amazing to have it edge to edge with the nav bar. I've always been a sucker for the navbar, and now im especially wanting it more after I got my Nexus 7 (2013). They just look futuristic. Awesome sketch though, man.
Sorry, but an edge to edge screen is not a good idea at all, that completely sacrifices strength and durability of the phone and can cause very easy cracking and damage to the screen...just look at the S4

I realize it doesn't have a true edge to edge (we're not there yet) but I don't want an actual border around the screen. I like the way the One looks. Also how it feels. It doesn't feel flimsy at all.
Meh...some people prefer form over function...not me.

Where or when has this design made the One less functional? If anything it has done the opposite. Seriously, launchers are a waste of time and space, if you think about it. I've started using only Blink feed and so far I've no complaints. Also, hard buttons are far less functional than Nav bars. Nav bars can easily be reassigned and can recede to reveal extra screen space.

Yeah, I remember reading about that too. I never realized the S4 had a thinner bezel. But that's not what I want/need. It's just that the bezel should be inconspicuous. It should almost disappear when the screen is turned off. It shouldn't just cease to exist.
I don't like it. Center camera looks stupid and feels like a waste of space compared to how the real One is.

We all know about the OEM white battery cover.
Do other white parts for the DINC exist? I've been Googling for half an hour and haven't had any luck, thought someone here may have found something. If not, how hard would it be to order a new body and digitizer then turn them white?

Just thinking here that all the desire to have a white Dinc would be better served to just get an iPhone instead of trying to make a Droid look like it.
Don't put much stock in my thinking on this subject, black in my favorite colour (or lack there of) and white would be my least favorite colour next to brown. Guess I'm lucky it comes stock in black, no custom skins or anything needed to make it look it's best.

I don't think iPhone owns the color white ;P
Most of the iPhones have a metal backing anyhow, I think that white version is a customish sort of iPhone- similar to how HTC gives us an option to have a white backcover.
I'm looking for white parts too but guess I'll be waiting with the rest until (or if) they come out.
So while fixing my screen lift today I realized how easy it was to take the backing off. This got me thinking, do you think we will be able to find the white backing that came on Google I/O edition Nexus 7s? It would take 5 minutes to swap the backs out, and I think the white ones look great. Thoughts?

If they're not UV protected, then yeah, white will yellow pretty easily. I'm a little worried about snapping off the back cover to exchange it for something else. Maybe a skin would be better instead?

+1 on plastidip. i just love it. The white spray also quickly "fixes" white soled shoes. I believe there is also a clear spray but I've never seen it at any stores.

Not sure, I've never disassembled something, plastidipped it, and then put it back together. It does leave some added thickness, but it's not very much at all and I don't even know how I'd measure it. Only one way to find out, right? Worst case scenario you are out less than $10 and you just peel it off if it sucks.
You could just do it with the device assembled, the plastidip isn't going to hurt anything. Just tape off the edges and the speaker.
The back looks great, but why can't the front be white as well? The Nexus 4 would looks so good white all the way through.

The same reason Tv's have Grey bodies and black bezels. Mostly anything you watch that's back lit usually will have a black bezel because it's appealing for long time viewing, reading and less write strain and helps to not notice the bezel. A white bezel becomes a distraction to the eyes. You can actually Google this. It's true.

As I understand it, part of the reason there was such a long wait for one of the white iPhone models (maybe the 4), it was like 6 months before they could get the proximity sensor I believe it was to work correctly with the white face (may have also been the Ambient Light Sensor as well). I say it made it 1000x easier not to have to retest and adjust said sensors for the white model that will be surpassed and replaced in October anyways.

make one with both sides white but the sides black i think that would lookcool
I think it is because of the costs.
Nexus is a low production quantity and low cost project, so you have no chance to distribute those development costs among many millions of units.
While white back is probably a relatively inexpensive affair, a white LCD frame is probably in a whole different price league.
So they needed to decide: either all device fronts in white or all in black. Black won. And I am thankful for that.

A sum of all these IMO.
the white front photoshop looks good because you didnt photoshop the bottom with the navigation keys. the black navigation keys work with black front because it creates the illusion that the keys blend into the bezel of the phone, which would be drastically more difficult with a white front (even if you were to make the soft keys white, there would be disparity with each phone display as its typically much easier to generate true black then pure white white)
2c
personally I think this design looks way better than pure white. I wish more manufacturers would build their phones like this. I think the white GN is one of the best looking devices ever made.

very nice render!
gonna nit pick here just for fun:
looks like the "rubbery" looking outer border is a bit thicker on the left side than the right side. Could just be my eyes though.
that "rubbery" looking material looks super nice though!
another nitpick:
the volume buttons curve inwards on the top and bottom, the power button does not. personally, i prefer the non curved style of the power button as you pictured it.
truly great job though!
if you make it, ill buy it
Same design Almost looks like n4.. nothing new for me .. just so excited to see 4.4

Um. I don't know if you're just trolling and people are going along with it but that's exactly what the N4 looks like.
I don't know why we need a render anyways when we have the actual pictures of the device.
Is that large inlaid square on the far left a much more respectable speaker?
To be honest that looks just like an N4, even the curves at the top and bottom resemble a N4 more than the leaked pictures of the N5. And even the bezel looks like an N4
Conclusion this is a render of an N4

To be honest that looks just like an N4, even the curves at the top and bottom resemble a N4 more than the leaked pictures of the N5. And even the bezel looks like an N4

I can share the entire PSD with all the layers , bezel, gloss and others which I made completely -_-
What's the use in making a phone which doesn't even resemble a bit with its predecessor ?
Just for ur arrogancy, here, compare these 2, the real nexus 4 is the one with my keylimepie concept UCCW setup homescreen -_-

I like your concept.
Yes it looks similar to Nexus 4 but IMO it is a good thing.
I tried some other phones but nothing pleased me more than the Nexus 4, even in the design. So a Nexus with similar design would be great.
What about the back? The front is a screen, thats a given, but the back is the main place which gives the phone its design.

As its rumored that Android KitKat's gonna have a new UI with many visual changes (don't know if its true or not), I didn't had a single idea about how it would look (I lack imagination ..that my dwarback :| )

I think it will be called as Nexus 4 2013 instead of Nexus 5.
as same happens with nexus 7 2013.

That would be logical if they decide to keep the screen size in the 4" range.

And in this case the leaked screen size is 4.95", so it is logical.

4.7 is also rounded to 5...
if its 4.95 inch and its called nexus 5 the numbers are representing the number of nexus phones released, if its nexus 4 2013 (which i highly doubt) its all about the screen sizes...

Please don't turn this into a Nexus 4 vs 5 naming thread. There's already about 1000 threads here discussing that. We will find out in a few weeks.
Well as the title says I got brave with some sharpies and added the one last thing I wish Google would have. Pics below. Idk if it will last or wear away or what but figured I'd chance it. So far seems to be holding the ink pretty well and nothing smears or anything since letting it dry a few minutes.

They each got their added bonuses I think. With the black one ya get the nice feel of that soft touch like the nexus 7, which helps with grip. The white one has a nice contrast look between the black n white, but it's white back is slick and I'm afraid I'll drop it without a case.

I'm pleasantly surprised. That looks awesome.
I'd give it a try on my N5, but I've never been good at coloring inside the lines. I'd end up with a rainbow backed Nexus.
Who else was expecting a previously white earpiece?
Looks nice! Well done
Haha that's awesome! Pretty convincing artwork, looks like it could have been that way all along.

I don't like white phones personally, but with just that little added color, it looks awesome. Google should have definitely done this. Great job and good idea.

I hate the white speaker. Always makes me think I have a notification and why is the notification light on the bottom of the phone? I always pick up my phone upside down since all the other phones have the notification light at the top. So weird. Maybe I'll sharpie the speaker...
That's exactly why I went through the headache of returning my white one and waiting 3 weeks for a black one to arrive. If I had to look at that white speaker one more day, I was going to hurl. LOVE the white back, but after I put a case on, all I had to was the nasty white speaker to look at. It also too drove me insane thinking it was the notification light.

That looks quite neat. Another more durable possibility could be these oil paint based Sharpies
http://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Paint...ffice-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1385141303&sr=1-23
I believe that the Nexus logo is created out of ceramic pieces and those markers are supposed to work on glass, so it should be fine.
Very nice. Will definitely have to give this a try.
And yes I thought thread was a hey look I changed my white ear piece to black. Which I actually like a lot. Don't know why people hate on it.
