That makes the device to Strimer
In other words, instead of copying to the device HD movies
I can see it directly from the network
you can use smartshare and dlna and stream movies you have on the pc
How I do it?
VLC has an option for this. Try the app VLC Direct and install VLC Media player on your desktop. You got 2 ways of streaming with it, from the PC to your phone, or the other way around. The app itself has a tutorial, so you should be fine!
I have a few questions, hopefully someone can answer me.
1) is there a way to change the media player for google chrome? The default one that is plain black and white and barely any controls.
2) Is there a way to play subtitles for local video files on chrome? It's amazing that I can stream my files to my tv wirelessly through chrome, but I mostly watch anime with english subtitles. Is there any way to play subtitles?
3) I read that Chromecast was supposed to turn my tv on automatically, is there a setting to enable this? Or is it automatic depending if the tv has the ability to perform this action?
I'm trying to play videos off my PC by loading the file in chrome and then using the chromecast plugin to cast or playing videos off dropbox using aircast.
Either way, I haven't yet found 1 video that will play sound. When using chrome on the PC, I hear sound on the PC, then once I cast it, sound stops on the PC and I don't get sound on the TV.
I've tried .mkv and .mp4. If I try to play an .avi within chrome, the video just downloads into chrome, but it doesn't play, so I can't cast it.
I guess only certain sound formats will play on the chromecast?
Does anyone have a sample/reference file that definitely plays from chrome on the PC to the chromecast on the TV with sound? If that works, then I know it's just the file formats I'm trying.
I get sound when casting netflix and youtube.

I even just tried converting an mkv/ac3 to mkv/aac and mkv/mp3 and I still didn't get any audio.
i got the same issues using Chrome. Like you said, netflix and youtube work fine.
as you said avi will just download, MKV with ac3 will have no sound but mp4 works ok for me, just doesnt automatically resize. which doesn't help you much.
Can anyone at all play an .mkv with any type of audio and get both audio and video working on the TV? If so, I'd really like to try that same file.
i've only tested with MP4. i was able to get sound and video to play on TV. not sure what codecs those videos are in tho.

Do you have a small MP4 that you know works that maybe you can upload here or upload to dropbox and share a public link for it?
i don't. what i was testing were episodes and movies i downloaded.

I really like the plex app. Nicely detects and presents all my media collection. I do find it irritating that music casting is still unsupported, although they demand me to pay to cast. If you ask me to pay for casting - allow me to cast my media. If you cant support full media casting - dont ask for my money. That's how I see it.
Anyway, Does anyone knows when will casting music be supported?

No one knows when but yes it will support music and pictures eventually.
It actually requires a more sophisticated player app than required for just movies. A Movie is play one file and done.
Music and pictures to be done correctly requires playlist functionality which means there needs to be a way to put a playlist on the CCast and update it during playback since it is the CCast that makes the request for media. not the other way around.
So they either have to add a Queue to the control protocol that the CCast can use to request the next file or do some trickery on the Server side to build a playlist that the CCast checks at the end of each file to see if there is more to play.

Is there any way to make Chrome remember to always cast?
I find that I constantly have to set up casting for a tab if I quit Chrome and restart it.
..or maybe a way to cast the soundcard directly, so that everything that plays on the computer is casted?
