I tried asking in this in the thread for the GE Rom I downloaded but got no answer so I'm trying my luck here. Basically what happens is when I finish my call wifi just doesn't turn back on unless I go into settings and manually re-scan even when I leave the range of my AP and return home I don't have this problem. It's a minor annoyance to an otherwise perfect ROM does anyone have a suggestion on what I could do?

Hello guys, it all started with not being able to connect anymore to my wifi and so (among other reasons like clearing the memory, the cache and just startin' over clean) i decided to factory reset it.
Since then if i try to turn on the wifi it just keeps on switching on and off. I can;t really turn it off permanently either cuz it's gonna turn on again but not stay on.
And doing so (turning on wifi) really slows down my phone it's like going in slow motion and the only way to fix it is a factory reset (after which, of course, the Wifi is set to default to Off and stays like that if i don;t try to turn it on again )
If i don't turn it on the phone works perfectly, no bugs no nothing. Actually it does have a 'glitch', it doesn't let me install the Androzip app...for some reason, no idea if that's helpful but that's what it is.
I really hope it's not hardware cuz i don't have warranty, what ever idea or advice u might have will be much appreciated.
Thank you
Common guys, really no idea? If u guys don't have a clue about what could be wrong it says pretty much about my chances of getting it fixed..
I would like to try to flash it with...some software...i don't follow up on the existing mods out there.
I would like to know what is the latest known with no bugs, or at least no bugs with wifi and/or mobile data connectivity cuz that's what i want to test.
And, also, i' d appreciate some pointers on step by step instructions, how to flash it...if i need any drivers installed, what programs to use, how to use. I'm sure there has to be something like this around but i don't know where to look.
Thank you very much...
I know this is in the wrong forum but you never get an answer in general, so im asking for help here please.
basically im after a way to force GPS to turn off, through terminal with root permissions or somthing to that effect as i cannot for the life of me get GPS to turn off!! i untick gps in settings menu, it unticks, i back out that screen and go back in and its still ticked for gps on. and the power widget doesnt even do anything when i press to turn off gps.
i know that a factory reset will probably sort it but ill do that as a last resort, i just wondered if there is a way to force it to turn off.
but linux commands i have no idea about as i imagine it could be done through terminal??
any answers are greatly appreciated, as you can imagine my battery is dying pretty rapidly now with minimal use

have you tryed leaving the gps checked off and then rebooting the phone and see if its better after the reboot
yeah i have tried all them type of scenarios with no joy. its like it needs to be forced off with su. thats the only thing i can think of, just i dont know the commands necessary
I know it's been a while since this thread has been opened but did you ever find any solution for this? I have exactly the same problem and even factory reset didn't help. I'm on stock rom and not rooted, but I think somehow I'll be able to root this device.
I'm not gonna BS anyone. I'm clueless!!
I lent my phone to a friend for a few days and he installed one of the ICS roms on it. A few days later I realized that it would no longer keep wifi active. Anytime I'd attempt to turn wifi on it would say error and time out.
I figured no biggie I'll just Odin back. So I Odin'd back to Eclair and still no wifi. Even worse... when I boot the phone it takes exactly 33 minutes to get past the "Galaxy S" screen. It isn't frozen as I can see the S throbbing.
Another symptom of my problems is that the haptic feedback is gone.
In recap, No wifi, no haptic and a loooong boot.
As I said earlier, the problems persist in stock form as well as CM7.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
OK, The weirdness continues. I decided to try roms I've used in the past to see if anything changed. I started off with Andromeda 1.0. The boot time is now back to normal and I've regained haptic feedback.
Unfortunately I still don't have wifi. It'll now allow me to enable wifi and it'll attempt a scan but comes back with "unable to scan networks". I attempted to manually add multiple networks and get the error "unable to save the network" then wifi gets disabled.
I'm at a loss at this point so I'm hopeful someone can come through.

When you Odin'd back to Stock, did you Master Clear too?
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I did do a master clear. Internal SD has been wiped but the problems continue.
The haptic feedback and boot time return to normal when I flashed Andromeda 1.0 but go bad again when I go back to stock.
Just went back to stock and am waiting the 30 minutes for the phone to boot so I can do another master clear. Can't see the second finding any residual files that the first didn't get but you never know I guess.
I just noticed that my Bluetooth isn't working either.
Data and cell work just fine though.
so... latest recap...
Currently running Andromeda3. The phone boots just fine in a nice fast timeframe. Haptic feedback is working fine.
Wifi and Bluetooth are no go's. Just don't get it
I'm still in my return period but want to know if there is a way to fix my issue. Sometimes when my phone is set to vibrate mode and the icon is displayed my phone still rings when someone calls. I'm not rooted still stock but wonder if it's a software issue or a hardware problem. Tmobile said it can be resolved in settings but I don't think so. Any help please.

The phone should not do that as I'm sure you know. First thing you need to do reset the phone. Make sure to backup anything you want off the phone first. After that go to settings and then backup & restore. Feel free to use HTC backup it works well but doesn't do pictures unless you have it set to sync with dropbox. So then go to reset the phone. After this test it again. If it does this after the reset then it's defective. There is no special setting you use the volume rocker and can go to vibrate or silent. If the problem continues make sure you have told them there is no other settings and that you have factory reset the phone and the problems still persists.
PS That is freaking weird!!!
I received the latest update to 4.4.4 this past Wednesday. This is the update that included the HTC Eye Experience. The update went smooth and everything was all good until I was driving home from work. The phone randomly rebooted itself and ever since, I cannot get Wi-Fi to turn off. It stays off for approximately one minute and then turns right back on. I have searched this forum and others all day with no solution seeming to help. I also hard reset the phone earlier today but the problem persists. Anyone had this issue or have any solutions? Thank you in advance!

Do you Sprint Connection Optimizer running? That'll keep Wi-Fi on. See this http://support.sprint.com/support/t..._Optimizer_on_or_off_HTC_Onereg_M8/51761-1469

Thanks for responding! Its not Connections Optimizer. It has been turned off from day 1 but I did recheck and it is still off. My M8 is not rooted and completely stock. It worked great up until this update. I tried soft reset and hard reset to no avail. There is a message that pops up in the notification bar sometimes (Wi-Fi notification with a red triangle) that says setup has not been complete but nothing happens when I click on it and it goes away. Sprint is, of coarse, no help at all. They want to send me a new phone but I really don't think this is a hardware issue. Maybe a bad download?
