I purchased this phone when it first came out. I use exchange email like high school kids use text messaging. The sense 4 widgets widgets were the best on any device. Can we instal sense 4 widgets on sense 5? I don't like the cheesy go launcher widgets prefer sense.

Can someone suggest a good calender to use, I'm not necessarily all about sense, but they have the best calender, the stock widget blows goats, and not to many alternatives???? Any sugestions
Android agenda widget

For main calendar I really like Jorte.
Since it integrates with my google calendar, I can use any widget I want with it, which is good because I don't like Jorte's calendar widget.
For widgets I like both CalWidget and Android Agenda Widget

Pure Grid Calender, it is very similar to sense, except you cant scroll from month to month. You have to click a button, but whatever. Also it cost money and is not a free app. But it also has more widget sizes than HTC Sense one.
I'm not satisfied with the calendar in Galaxy S (is it Samsung's own or Android stock?). Often I need to login into Google Calendar on the web to be able to customize my appointments as I want.
This I miss:
1. Be able to choose what calendar which is the default one. Now "My calendar" is the default, I want one of my two Google calendars to be default.
2. I want to be able to specify "repeat rules" (not sure what the english term is) better. It's not possible to make an appointment appear every second monday for instance. But it's possible to do through Google calendar on the web.
3. Specify notification tone.
And I want to keep everything that does work, like multiple calendars and syncing to my Google account etc.
Hi. I use jorte, free in the market.
Give it a try

Jorte is the best, which is not to say it's great.
It also has the best widgets.
Others don't come anywhere close as calendars, although they might have nicer looking skins.
Jorte is very good. But for the widgets i like more agenda widgets. Looks much nicer and has better options.
Gemini Calendar is a nice and free (available in the market) app and has useful widgets, although I've not tried any others bar the original SGS app
Non of them are really good. They do have the functions I'm missing in the original calendar app, but the GUIs are just horrible.
Is it possible to switch the Samsung Calendar to original Android calendar? Or maybe HTC Calendar?

you can switch to stock calendar here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735035
note: you will have a big "plus" sign on the top of your screen which i find pretty annoying. i just switched to jorte based on opinions here but honestly i use agenda widget most of the time. it's great and scrollable with launcherpro and syncs to RTM tasks as well. love it.

thanks for pointing this out. really cool app with some great features (love the slider for setting event dates/times).
i only wish it had week view on it. really impressive app though!
I hate Touchwiz apps big time. S Planer is wack as f***, laggy and awfull to utilize. Is there a possibility to get rid of touchwiz apps and replace them by stock gingerbread apps (google calender, text messaging, etc.)?

yes you are absolutely right. Samsung calendar has an issue. It doesnt sync every entry on my google calendar.
+1 on getting back the original calendar
AFAIK, there is no standard AOSP calendar unless you want to tinker with hacked files and such.
I use Pocket Informant and it works very well. Cheap on the Amazon market and sometimes free.
did samsung rip the calendar totaly from the rom or is it makeable to make a shortcut to it?
i want to have something like the htc sense one.
the samsungs is awfull.
one of the reasons i bought a phone with such a big screen was, that i could see the whole week calendar with no scrolling.
first i tried Jorte as a calendar app..
now i found this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.alxb.calendardroid
I am also considering on the pure grid calendar, but could not get the 5x5 widget on without distortion.

So I'm delighted with my new HTC One, and still learning the features and capabilities.
Blinkfeed provides a feed of multiple sources of news, tweets, posts etc., but I'm finding it easy to miss important things, and I'm seriously missing the HTC Mail, News and Friend Stream widgets I had on my Sensation and before that the Desire.
The HTC Calendar widgets have made it onto the One, but there aren't any HTC ones for the other data.
I've searched Google Play, and only come up with Pure Messenger which works pretty well for Twitter & Facebook, but although it support mail feeds, you can't use the stock HTC Mail app having to replace it with "K9 for Pure" - which I'm not keen on.
Am I missing something? What recommendations do people have to replace my former favourite wdgets - or is there a better way to use Blinkfeed?
All and any (constructive) suggestions welcomed.
Thanks for your feedback.
you could try apw widgets on the play store
They are skinnable and have sense skins, not sure if it's paid or not but there is are widgets for facebook+twitter for instance

one of the frustrating things about Sense 5 is that the the productivity lock screen doesn't have a Gmail option.
obviously there is a Gmail lock screen widget in Android 4.2, but i can't use that because of Sense.
. . .any workarounds? (other than setting up the Mail app with my Gmail account)
Move the Gmail icon to your dock?
that would allow quick access to the Gmail app - but is there any way to get a preview of a new Gmail on the lock screen?
The productivity lock screen baffles me..Sometimes it doesn't even show text messages..it kind of does what ever it wants..But if you want emails to show up there you can use the HTC mail app and link it to your gmail..Unless you are gunho on using the official gmail app.

fair enough. thanks for the response!
Yeah, you have to use the official HTC mail app, which I actually prefer. I have all 4 of my email accounts (3 are gmail) linked to it instead of the official app. The folder functionality and color coding between the accounts just makes more sense to me personally.
