Hello,
I accidentally broke my Xperia SP glass. Does the Glass of the phone is separate or it comes with the display? I am asking because in my area its not available in the market yet.

It comes along with the digitizer and illumination bar. I already broke it once and replaced it for a costly 100$
Thanks for the information.

The Xperia Z has many features, this is one of them:
The Xperia Z features tempered glass and anti-shatter film on the front and back, and high levels of dust and water resistance.

Your son scratched a plastic surface.
Take it off, buy a screen protector, and replace.
The xperia z has a glued on anti shatter film that you can remove and replace with any screen protector of your choice. The only downside is that you lose the Sony logo
Press thanks if I have helped

Yeah it's only the anti shatter film. But if you do remove it you will loose the Sony logo. Some people find that a plus. Also some reporting more responsive screen.

Why the Sony logo does not come pressed on the screen but in the film?
Screen Technology?

No one knows, we can only speculate...
Most people think that it's because it's cheaper this way.

DoCoMo for example put their logo in that position maybe it's a way to allow personalizations

This. This is my guess. Sony doesn't have a history of cheating so I doubt that's the reason now.

In another forum, a guy said he was part of screen technology, which because it is thin, it would be impossible to press the Sony logo.
He had posted a picture explaining!
Yeah really hate the fact the Sony logo is pressed on the film. It's the only reason why I haven't removed mine. I have a hard enough time already telling which way is the right way up. Just hope we don't see another omnibalace design from Sony. The bottom bezel looks much bigger than it should be.
I prefer on screen buttons but I thought that was meant to help reduce the chassis. Maybe Sony was absent at that meeting because the Z is certainly taller than it needs to be.

If you look closer, you'll notice it has symmetrical proportions, so i guess sony guys had that on their minds... ZL is living prof that extra dimensions are here just cause pure esthetics. My only complain... they could have put larger battery also then...

I cant find anywhere on the net if the xperia logo on the back is pressed into the glass or the 'shatter-proof film'...the reason I ask is that I have protected my screen, but the back has small scratches. Ide hate to loose the xperia logo in an effort to renew its original luster with a new film...anyone know?
The Xperia logo in thw back doesn't come out while removing the film.

Check with your country's sony store if removing asf does void warranty before removing it.
Since Sony doesn't want people to remove the screen protector is there any type of anti fingerprint coding on it? I mean If I remove the screen protector will the screen be nice to use or will it just get all smudged in fingerprints that are impossible to remove?

No coating, just straight glass...but I'd recommend getting a matt finish (anti smudge) screen protector if u are going to remove.. Or unless ur screen is already scratched, simply apply it over the top of the factory one. Couldnt personally tell a difference in responsiveness by doing so.

hi guys, sorry for the question not related to android development, but I would like to but the xperia T and wanted to know if inside the phone box I will find one screen protector already, or I have to buy it separately..
I remember I bought a sony for my girlfriend time ago (xperia mini pro) and it did include one protector, so maybe sony always put one screen protector inside the box?
thanks in advance bye and sorry for stupid question
The T has a screenprotector applied out of the box, so you don't have to apply one yourself. Afaik all xperia devices have this.

wow that's great thanks a lot for the answer my friend!!
The only problem is , some people dont know it , song claims it is a scratch proof glass ,yes it is, but most people still see Scratch's because the shatter proof sheet is of plastic, and that does scratch. So just to be clear ,its not really a screen protector, it's a shatter proof sheet I've a screen protector on it , with anti oil coat , so the finger prints won't stay and it always looks clean just a hint

How you remove the stock protector?
Like the guy from the video with scalpel or another way?
I'm afraid not to damage the screen while I removing it
I don. t get why would anyone remove Sony shatter proof screen protector...
I just don't, there won't be any real difference in screen quality. Only difference is that you will loose some protection. And if you are worried about fingerprints, oh please. Just put another screen protector on top of it..

I took it off both my Z and Z1. The sony ASF has an adhesive on it which I think affects screen quality I mean how can't it. I find I have better contrast without them. Plus the phone looks more monolithic without the sony logo. But there have been discussion about loss of warranty once you remove it.

I'm really close to removing mine. It scratches so easily! Never had a phone that got this many scratches in a week and it's not like i'm doing anything out of the ordinary with it.
Why put super tough glass on the phone and then cover it with a film that scratches?

you are not alone, many of us have wondered why they do this. Every other manufacturer seems to have this anti shatter built into their screens. I'm not sure if its because sony doesn't use gorilla glass or some thing. The only this to remember that after you remove it the glass doesnt have an oleophobic coating. The ASF also leave a kind of stick residue. I use nail polish remover to get it all off. Then put a glass screen protector over top of it to give the that coating.

Also my Xperia ZL when I took it off still had the sony logo etched on so same question why sony why
Do you know if the back anti shatter film also has Sony logo on it?

I'm interested too. I do not think will void the warranty unless you destroy your screen.
My question is, once you remove it what will you apply on your screen? I tried every good film screen protectors and no one is really oleophobic and without reducing the screen quality. Also seems on the market there aren't films or tempered glass without holes for the camera and sensors which I think is very annoying since they'll become dust magnets. Suggestions?

I removed Sony SP from my Xperia S and I didn't get anything...
No better contrast, not even better or precise touch.
But XS don't have Sony logo on SP it's on the glass... I just applied invisible screen protector from eBay (applying with water) and I still use that phone...
But I won't peel SP from Z1 - I just applied same protector (Invisible SP) front and will soon apply one to back and it's awesome...
For me, there's no reason for peeling original SP down...

If anything goes wrong in the future and you have to send back your device to customer service they'll say that warranty is lost... or they'll charge you extra money.
Personaly I bought Muvit Matt screen protection and I have no more fingerprint, the feeling is different from, for example, the Spigen Crystal Clear one which has a good feeling when touching the screen but with its fingerprint counterpart!

If you say that because of BL unlock then it is not sure warranty is 100% lost Sony' s unlock BL website says :
Please note that you may void the warranty of your device and/or any warranty from your operator if you unlock the boot loader

I know it's sounds weird that removing a plastic layer (which is a kind of physical protection) will void warranty and not totally for a bootloader unlock but that's their position for now...

This is untrue
I have returned my xperia T phone for a cracked screen after taking off the factory fitted screen protector and I got replacement with no questions asked
This is in the UK
I have also never seen it written on a sony website or contract that this will void warrenty

We asked a Sony rep (or a community manager) in french forum and that's what he told us.
Now I guess it depend on the service center or the country.
Also I don't know if it is the same policy for T and the Z line (waterproof, all glass etc) ?
Anyway maybe I'm wrong but I still won't take the risk.

yes, it may be country specific but I have the same contract on my Z1 as I did with my T
Plus unlocking the bootloader definitely voids warranty so if you have done that you may as well take it off
I asked on sony xperia twitter account, we'll see if they reply.
For the BL I just report what's on their site, the use of "may void" is different of just "void", I guess they have a tons of advocates who carefully pays attention to each word used on their site.
I remember a while back reading something about Arc S (here on XDA) where they said that if the repair has nothing to do with the BL unlock then the warranty still works.
If your T was unlocked and they repaired the screen for free that means warranty worked even if the screen has nothing to do with BL unlock...?

If you want it in percentage, then I'd say it will be around 0.25%
0.00001% will the screen crack without a reason.
Just make sure you have a screen protector and/or a case. I've got a case which protects 90% of the phone (only the sides are open and i've got a glass screen protector. So I'm not afraid AT ALL! when my phone falls.
I'll get screen protectors and cases, but, Google: Xperia Z screen Crack

Hi,
I got my Xperia Z1 Compact yesterday. I even left the original screen protector on the device (untill I get the clear screen protector). And I put a Case-Mate Tough Case on the phone. So its safe I would say.
Within 24 hrs (10 of which were sleeping hours) I noticed a crack in the screen. The phone just lies on the table getting charged.
I contacted the retailer, and as I'm writing this message, I'm waiting for their answer. Anything less then new phone will statisfy me.
The phone hasn't actually been used, exept for a few whatsapps, and 3 calls.....
So, they say it is a great phone.....it is, but with cracking screens i don't know. As a matter of fact, I searched for Z1 Compact problems, but didn't find the self cracking screen issue's.....
Mine cracked from being carried in my pocket with case and screen protector. I think Sony is just inconsistent with build quality I would get something from another manufacturer even though I really liked the Z.

Hi
I recently saw this white patch on the camera glass and I don't think it is from the outside because when I rub it it doesn't go. I have attached a image of how it looks. Only shows when looking from different angles aswell. It wasn't there when I got the phone and been using the phone for 3months. Also I haven't put the phone into water but I did wipe with wet cloth that came with screen protector and noticed this after that. It doesn't affect the camera I think. What do you think I should do? Any help appreciated.
Thanks
I have that problem too!!
