Hello all,

Please Senior members pay attention n help me out. I love android coz it is open source n u guys can make possible almost anything with android.
Any help will be appreciated.

I didnt exactly get wht u said.. I googled this app u suggested "where you at"... unfortunately there is no app like that.. anyone else could help me..plz i want som app for vid/voice call on bluetooth or wifi (without internet)
thanks..

i am not an expert but...
may be if we could create an app which lets us create / join Wifi hotspot n by opening browser we would be able to video/voice chat/call (without internet)..m not an expert but..plz see..
an indoor / short range app.. Bluetooth cant be used as its speed is limited to some 150 kbps..i guess wifi can make it possible, wifi is speedier, mpre stable, more range, lesser disconnection etc than bluetooth..its actually a gud idea, this app can also be used in offices.. colleagues can see each other over a vid / voice call / chat without spending a penny on internet, even more productive at home.. or any short range communication.. in a place like india high speed internet is sooo costly.. cant afford 3g or broadband. only by starting wifi hotspot, it shud be visible for users like near frnds, neighbours, colleagues etc & join & start video/voice..
i dnt knw how it is done technically..
anyways.. bye..
thanks.

i m looking for an application (apk) which will connect with other android device using bluetooth / wifi but without using internet.
n it might be possible as v can use wifi hotspot to connect devices for sharing, seeing etc in native internet browser with wifi file transfer app available in play store (something like 192.168.43.1:1234) n this doesnt require internet, why cant v make an app which would work by switching wifi hotspot on from device A & it will be visible for device B to start video/voice call chat by opening browser n using some ip address..
I am expecting an answer from a decent human being (n not any over smart answer like - u need "blah blah" "purchase some hardware" "LMAO" etc).

[APP][MOD]Skype 2.0 Video Mod to work with Epic4G! (Mobile to Comp)

Skype For Android Gets Video
Widespread 3G and cheap Wi-Fi routers have made video calling popular. This has helped applications such as Fring get millions of users in very little time. To catch up with the competition, Skype has now released its version 2.0, capable of video chat for Android.
Right now, Skype 2.0 will only work on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) devices with front-facing cameras. The list of compatible devices includes the HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro, and the Google Nexus S. The company is also working on a plan to cover devices that have currently been left out. The application will work with Wi-Fi as well as 3G. It reportedly supports PC-to-mobile calls, which gives it an edge over the competition. According to Skype, the app also features a completely revamped UI.
If you happen to have a Gingerbread device, download Skype 2.0 here (see original article for link) . Otherwise, check out the following video.

I have found the Market APK does not allow video then, stumbled upon this thread from the i9000 forum.
Skype 2.0 / video-call patched to work with SGS/SGS2 and many other devices!
Mad Props to theos0o
make sure to give him thanks!
Verified this working from Bonsai B12 based on EF02 leak, called a laptop video was great over 3g.
Nice, cant wait for official gingerbread even more
Sweet - this one lets me log in with 4G, the market one didn't.

Make WiFi Direct Work

hey guys,
first day i got this phone i tried any feature...
what i was missing? the wifi-direct option in settings
what was strange, the app, wifi shoot, which should only install from the market if the phone is wifi direct compatible installed just fine
starting it results in a popup asking me to go to settings to enable wifi direct
strange?
today i was working with nfc, any tag launcher especially...
it has the ability to launch apps (intents) or activitys of the apps
i guess tasker has the same functionality so if you try, there might be a similair way
so i go to one of my saved nfc tags, add a new action and under the "intent" subsection i select start activity
select:
(in German)
Einstellungen
Settings$WifiP2pSettingsAcvtivity
i guess in english you only have to replace Einstellungen with Settings
now when i go to settings and disable wifi, launch this activity and start wifi direct, wifi shoot doesnt show the popup and shows my device name...
till now i wasnt able to test, wether this really works (i dont have a second wifi direct phone here atm :/ )
could anybody test this?
Thanks
//Robert
This would be so interesting if it works this way.
Sadly I cant test this because i also dont have another wifi direct device.
But i just did a quick google search and the Razr M is indeed able to do Wifi-Direct. But having a Intel SoC here will also result in a different Wifi-Chip right!?
PS: Greetings from D-Derendorf, Robert
I tried it with my Nexus 7,
works! Very Nice!
also just tried, works like a charm, stupid moto

can't make it work with s3 from a friend, what device did you use?
I tried but I just can't, please let me know what is the application to use and the instructions. I'm new on this but I'm starting to love this hi-tech device.
Please help, I don't know if I need something else because the app Anytag NFC launcher doesn't let me do anything.
I'm not an expert on this field, but I would like to impress my Nexus4 friends that the Razr i is really good.
Thanks!
The nfc of my RAZR I doesn't wok, I connect to my nexus 10 and it doesnt work but when I connect my s3 to the nexus 10 it works flawless...
Even the RAZR I doesn't work with the s3...

[Q] Wifi-only app that lets S1 and BB communicate?

I have a rooted/rommed wifi-only S1 and my GF has a Blackberry 9780. She is currently overseas for X amount of time and the only way we can talk is by calling each other which is extremely expensive, or using skype which means she has to borrow a friend's laptop or android device. She has service on her phone over there, unsure of what type of plan.
I came up with the idea of using my old BB 8330 and figuring out how to use BBM or something similar on wifi-only, but it turns out that 'ol phone doesn't have wifi on it. It's too bad I sold my last BB some time ago which was an 8530 and had wifi. Oh well.
Anyways, I'm now wondering if there's an app I can use on my S1 that she can also use on her 9780 that would allow us to text and or talk. Something like BBM that doesn't require me to have service or a data plan. I imagine there's at least one app out there that would do this and also be available to BB users.
Thanks.

I read somewhere that it uses your phone number but can't seem to confirm that.
I'm pretty sure we can use KIK but it's text only. I may be getting greedy with wanting text and talk, but having both would be awesome.
Does her phone have a browser? If so, you could use any site like ebuddy to talk. Or even get on something like palringo (dunno if there's a bb version?) but there must be something alike.

She has service and we *think* her data is unlimited. She also has a wireless router at her flat so wifi helps if the data is limited/costly.
We're trying to use apps over our current methods or using something browser based mainly for convenience. Something like whatsapp or KIK would work perfectly from what I understand, but they're text-only. Not a huge problem, but if I can find text+voice that would be great. Skype is normally the answer to that question but her phone, or more specifically her service provider, isn't compatible with skype from what I'm seeing.

I went with Kik for now. It's actually a pretty cool messenger app. Clean and fast.
I haven't yet found anything that covers both messages and voice in app form other than skype which I confirmed is not compatible with her model of phone.

Preferring to stay away from browser since apps are far more convenient and because browsers always run very sluggish on my cappy for some reason.

Looks like the exact app I need and it's compatible with blackberry. Will give it a try. Thanks!
ETA: Looks like Blackberry devices can not use the VoIP feature yet but they say it will be available eventually.
Turns out you need a number for viber and my device is wifi-only. After some research I found that you can use any phone number that can receive SMS because it's for them to send you a registration PIN. I tried both my GV and Heywire numbers and haven't received that text on either one. :\

[Q] How to make Video Calls on Xperia Z.

Hi All,
Im trying to video calls on my xperia z but not found...
Please help me for this thread..
Do you have tried?
Tried Skype?
As far as I know.. The XZ don't have its own video call function. Like on the SG3. But still, I used Skype. Main reason is that it used mobile data, even if I was on WiFi. Also the mobile data did not affect my monthly plan, it just raised my bill.... Go for Skype or other app from googly play

+1 for hangout using the talk app on the xz. its been the most reliable video chat program for me.
Well, does anyone even tried (custom ROM, maybe?) to make video calling function work? Besides third party apps like Skype or Hangouts? I'd just want to call my GF or dad when they aren't available on those IMs.
