Ok, so my television is an Emerson. It does not have CEC that I know of. In the settings I don't see an option to disable CEC or anything like it. However, chromecast seems to change the input just fine, although it does not turn the TV on. The problem I'm having is, as long as the chromecast is plugged in, it changes my input. If I decide I'm done casting and change the channel to a regular tv channel, chromecast just changes it right back. Even if its just on the "Ready to Cast" screen. Is there a way of disabling chromecast that I'm not aware of? Or do i actually have to reach behind my tv and unplug it whenever I don't want to cast?
Also, is it good to just leave this thing plugged in and powered up indefinitely? I hear it gets hot after a while.
I got the device when it was released and it hasn't been unplugged for long. Their engineers design for the heat. Min has been on for a few hours and is at 110F. My phone gets hotter during a call. The back of the t If Google thought it was going to catch on fire they would have taped a unplug warning on the device.

Does anyone else have a problem with the car dock randomly disabling and playing on regular speaker mode? Almost every time I dock it the phone will stop and using the navigation on it I need the loud dock speaker not the regular phones speaker. The phone still shows the orange light so it seems to still be connected to the power. I thought bumps may cause the plug to get lose and disconnect but since the orange light is on I don't think its that plus reconnecting it sometimes doesn't help. Any ideas? I'm going to use it for a 8 hour drive so I hope someone helps!!

Mine seems to goof up if I leave wifi on. Try turning off wifi. That seems to work for me. Sometimes if I drive past a house or whatever that has wifi my phone picks it up and it seems to goon up my car dock connection. Hope this helps

my wifi automatic turns off when i leave my remembered locations so i know its not on. its so annoying to worry about the gps/phone/navigation when getting turn by turn directions. this is because even though the phone has been connected and the light stays on when returning from the long drive the and undocked the phone i found the phone very low on battery. i dont understand why if i always checked the light to make sure its not being disconnected since i thought that would mean its not using the battery to power it. this time i am going to try like 4 apps that say they will keep it in dock mode bluetooth on so we will see. i wish i didnt have to load all these apps and just knew which works but i cant risk this happening in a big busy city.

This happens to me too, every once in a while. What I do is unplug the dock from the power, plug it back in, insert my N1 into the dock, go into settings and repair the dock. Works after that.

will keep this in mind. i noticed another problem. i lowered the audio when playing pandora internet radio but i cannot put it back to loud! ive tried audiomanager and nothing. used navigation to turn it up but it says its maxed already yet both are very low. its so odd that i can lower the audio but not make it louder. ive now lowered it to like 1 bar and cant hear nothing unless totally silent in the car. ive even downloaded some apps to max the dock audio but i dont think they worked. time to reinstall cm i guess.

Did you try the volume buttons on the dock?

Oops, just noticed a typo. My sentence should read like this: "This happens to me too, every once in a while. What I do is unplug the dock from the power, plug it back in, insert my N1 into the dock, go into settings and re-pair the dock (via Bluetooth). Works after that.

yea thahts the problem i cant make the volume higher just lower and no way i can get to the phones buttons without undocking the phone. hmmm i wonder if the volume is in the actual dock and a unplug will restore it.
Have had this problem (random bluetooth disconnects) with the car dock since, I think, 2.2.1 came along. Reseting the car dock (power off and on) sometimes resolves the issue. Prior to 2.2.1 I don't think this problem existed. Anyone confirm that ?
*Update* Nexus One died totally today and is being collected by HTC UK tomorrow. That might explain some of the more bizarre behaviour I have been seeing.
ive had the problem on 2.1 but it wasnt a big deal for around town. found it a pain in unknown cities especially noisy highways using the stock speaker on the phone. i got home today from the trip i must take every 6 months and stayed parked trying to figure it out. 1st thing i had to do was up the volume. i found a nice app called a2dp volume that helped restore max volume on the actual car dock. at that exact moment it was docked but switched back to speaker kicking off all car dock apps like navigation and car mode. i just left it in the dock trying not to tiggle anything to reactate it and checked the settings-wireless and bluetooth. under bluetooth settings way at the bottom in paired devices i saw the car dock nexus one. it said it was paired but not connected. i held down the item and clicked connect (also if clicking the item gives you like 3 checkmarks 2 checked but 1st box is unchecked named Connect) and that is how i fix it now. really annoying to navigate through all that just to reconnect the bluetooth to the device. looking for a app that will help with this. if anyone finds it please reply!
When you say your wifi turns off, does it turn itself back on when you go back to you remembered networks? If so disable wifi completely.

i have a app called y5 that completely turns off the wifi when away from the remembered area. with that app, i cannot turn on/off the wifi because the app will not allow changes unless i turn off that app.
So this is my problem, every time I switch from the chromecast to another HDMI port and then I go back to chromecast it takes like a minute to show after all the display flashing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9GYcIZz7gQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I had a similar issue with my chromecast, and for me it turned out that my little HDMI cable extender thing it came with was broken. When I connected my chromecast without it, the display feedback went away.
I'm not using the extender, but if I power the chromecast off and on it will show instantly.

It could be that your TV is just having trouble with the HDCP negotiations needed to get the HDMI connection working. My DVD player always takes 10+ seconds to register with my TV over HDMI.
But a faulty cable could be part of it too - a bad HDMI cable may sabotage the HDCP negotiations, resulting in multiple failed attempts.
I've had this issue a couple of times. Turned on Chromcast and it booted ok. The TV shows the wallpaper and then turns to snow, back to the wallpaper then snow again in about the same rate as your video.
Rebooting the chromecast fixes it. While annoying it only happens once every 20+ boots for me.
I use the little HDMI extender, but I don't replug it, just reboot the device itself to get rid of it.

Snow is a symptom of failure of the HDCP decryption - the devices will need to renegotiate the handshake. Rebooting either/both devices should fix it, as will unplug/re-plugging the HDMI connection.
If your Chromecast and TV are both on wall power (ie, Chromecast doesn't get powered down) it should stay synced.
For me it started happening when I switch the image Zoom options to Automatic.
I'm planning to buy a AppRadio 3 headunit for my Jeep, and use the ARLiberator app to unlock it so it mirrors my Z1 on the in-dash screen (I'll provide a link to a YouTube video below for clarification). It mirrors it using an HDMI cable into the back of the headunit (full size HDMI).
This Sony HDMI Cable is what I plan to buy, and do what was stated above, however I've seen mixed reviews on something. The Phone is cradled directly beside the headunit. Does HDMI Mirroring (the basic function, not the ARLibereator app) keep the screen on at all times? Or if I hit the power button on my phone, will it keep mirroring to the "TV"?
The ARLiberator app downscales everything, and transfers touchscreen actions and what not via Bluetooth, and then uses the HDMI Mirroring to show me the screen, as well as charge the phone.
AppRadio 2 Demo (AppRadio 3 released after, more features, etc.)
@Wiltron That's a cool idea man.
From my experience if you turn the screen off than you will see a black screen on your receiving device.
Note that this is my experience with miracast but I'm sure that hdmi will work the same way.
Hi,
With my experience with Nexus 10 and Xoom HDMI, the screen will be on until the screen timeout reaches, if you turn off the screen, HDMI will be black too. But there are some apps that can turn the screen black, but still on, like Screen Standby . That's a good idea man.

You can "turn off" yoir display using this app: Screen Standby ♯ Root (sorry I can't link it I'm newbie). Root permissions required
I'm having a problem and am hoping someone else might have seen this or have some ideas how to solve it.
When Glass connects (or re-connects), it deletes my watch, even if the watch has an active connection.
If I reset and reconnect the watch, it is Ok until Glass disconnects. When Glass reconnects, it again deletes the watch settings.
When I say "delete" I mean the Android Wear has no knowledge of the watch, and the watch shows disconnected. The watch still shows in the Bluetooth setting as paired, but not connected. And I can't connect through the Bluetooth settings.
If Glass is close enough to the phone to be connected, the watch is not found. I have to either move far enough away from Glass for it to disconnect, or turn it off. As soon as I either get in range of Glass or turn it back on, the watch disconnects and it's settings disappear and I have to start over.
This is repeatable. Believe me, it is repeated every time I get near Glass if its turned on. I've turn off Glass indefinitely because I find the watch more useful on a daily basis.
Some details:
The watch is a Moto360 with everything up to date: software version 5.0.2 and build number LWX49L. The only extra app is Google Fit. No faces, no other apps.
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge on AT&T, running stock Lollipop 5.0.1 with all updates. It has a bunch of apps, all up to date, but nothing exotic or side loaded.
Android Wear is up to date, 1.1.1.1956917
Glass is up to date, XE22 with WiFi enabled.
The I've seen one other thing out of the ordinary:
I have about 5-6 other Bluetooth devices paired and they all seem to be OK, at least most of the time. Occasionally, My Glass seems to "take over" the Bluetooth connection and won't let other devices connect, most commonly my car (phone and media). When this happens, if I go to Bluetooth settings, tap the paired connection, it doesn't say "connecting to blah-device" it says "connecting to Glass" even though I tapped something else. The connection will fail and the only way out of this is to un-pair Glass and re-pair it when I get home. This happens when Glass is not connected.
I've tried everything I can think of other than a factory reset of the phone. I'm hoping someone else has seen this, or has an idea before I have to go through that pain and still have the problem.

On all my devices, Note 9, Sony Android TV, Roku stick, etc, captions keep turning on in multiple apps. I know how to turn them off. But every time one starts watching a video again, they turn themselves back on. It getting really frustrating. What do I do?

accessibility options maybe?
probably something you or someone else enabled because this ain't default behavior foe sure.
I've tried the settings in all the apps that captions show up in, the accessibility settings on my phone, tvs and roku sticks. Some initially say they are off, but captions show anyway. Some are set to on, but when I turn them off, they go right back on when I exit the menu and try to play a video/movie.
