[Q] Install untrusted package when booting into cwm - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I boot into Clockworkmod Recovery, it wants to install a package. Clicking on Yes, No or Go back tells me 'install aborted' and reboots the phone making it inpossible to backup, install new roms ect. It also happens with ROM Manager.
The only way I can get around this is with CM Updater, which lets me update the phone no problem.
My Phone is running Cm10.1-20130725-NIGHTLY with Stock Kernel
Is there a way to fix this without having to go to Odin and reflash my phone from the beginning?
(sorry if its in the wrong section)
Edit: Fixed, ROM Manager was the reason it happened and I was using the wrong button conbination. I should have done more research

What combination do you use? the download-mod???

[HELP] Can't open recovery menu

Hii all!
I've made a new post to explain thing better. My main problem is that I can't get into my recovery menu.
A few weeks ago I've successfully rooted my Milestone (bootloader 90.78 > vulnerable recovery From this post > Copied OpenRecory + update.zip (G.O.T. OpenRecovery) to my SD card) But then i wanted to install a custom ROM. So I thought it was good to start over with a clean phone, I followed the "[HOW-TO] Get your Milestone back to stock" guide. I downloaded the following .sbf "SHOLS_U2_02.36.0_UCASHLSMR2EMEAB1B806D.0R_PDS003_USASHLS00RTGB_P026_A019_HWp2a_1FF.sbf", flashed my phone with this .sbf, all went fine. Then the vulnerable recovery needed to be installed, I've tried several vulnerables. But after completed the install I cant get into the recovery, I'm stuck at the /!\ screen. Can someone help me?
Thanks
OLD POST:
[old]Hii all!
I have a really nasty problem here. I can't open the recovery menu, I'm stuck at the /!\ image, tried the two key combinations, but no one works.
I already rooted my phone and I wanted to install a custom ROM. But before this I wanted a clean/stock phone, so I flashed him to stock .sbf. Then I installed vulnerable to get into recovery menu >> doesn't work. OK. Lets install the bootloader again + vulnerable >> doesn't work. Can someone help me with this, I really want a custom ROM and root (again)
Thanks, eXtink[/old]
Flas G.O.T. ) cause it already has vulnerable recovery injected then install open recovery 3.3 and play

Pressing <volume up> + <camera> at the /!\ screen does nothing?
Hi, I also have this problem.
there is openrecovery 3.3? where can i get this.
The dev website only shows 2.1? is their site outdated?
Hi!
I'm suffering the same problem:
I tried with the phone as I got it (no flash nor anything) - Could enter recovery mode (Power + CAM) but no menu display with VOLUP + CAM at the same time nor first VOLUP and then CAM.
I tried installing openrecovery and also androidiani, but after flashing vulnerable recoveri 90.78 and starting in recovery mode the same problem, no menu.
I flashed G.O.T telus 2.2.1 and still the same problem
Any ideas?

A few points:
You should ALWAYS be able to get to the default recovery. The default
recovery is not useful for flashing ROMs, but if you can't get to it, you have serious issues.
The default recovery can be accessed by powering on the phone with camera pressed down until you see the exclamation/triangle icon/cell phone icon.
RELEASE all buttons. Then press VOLUME UP (leaving it pressed down) and hit the camera button again (once). It should INSTANTLY give you a recovery menu.
You should now be in the RECOVERY (not OpenRecovery). You should a small number of options : reboot, apply update.zip,etc.
If you have not correctly installed the Vulnerable Recovery, you won't be able to use the apply update.zip option to run Open Recovery, Androidiani, etc.
The following thread is the best guide to get a recovery installed. Follow it exactly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196
The best recovery for Milestone is Androidiani. GOT recovery is OLD. OpenRecovery works fine, but Androidiani has more options for Milestone.
The general steps are:
1) Flash a GOT sbf using RSD lite. This installs vulnerable recovery
2) Download Androidiani. Put its update.zip in the ROOT of you SDCARD and put the OpenRecovery FOLDER (unzipped) also in the ROOT of the SDcard
3) Enter Recovery (as described above)
4) Choose Apply update.zip to get into Androidiani
5) Follow instructions for the ROM you want to use...
I hope this helps! It has worked on thousands of milestones. I see no reason for it to fail on yours.

Post the video and we can see if you have a problem.
Did you try starting from scratch using the appropriate GOT sbf?
The recovery gets overwritten by that sbf, so if this is succesful, any corrupted recovery problem should go away.

Try plugging your usb cable between your pc and phone, and then enter recovery

I flashed GOT Telus 2.2.1 full, at least I've got froyo now, but still no recovery menu. I also tried without SD and SIM to check if something could be wrong with them but no luck.
I'll make the video in some minutes (no sound, I'm at work. I tried to make it yesterday but my daughter thought it was better to play with the computer instead)

I find my newly purchased tab 8.9 very laggy with the stock TouchWiz
Before returning it I wanted ti try the Overcome rom to see if it can get any smoother.
I carefully followed there instructions but I am unable to go past the downloading droid. once I validate with the right button volume, the tablet simply reboots.
Does anyone else have this issue?

I see. The Overcome thread also has the CWM Recovery as a .zip file which is flashable through Stock Recovery (same procedure as flashing Root). You just put the file in your internal SDcard and flash away. If you still have doubts, read a little bit here, as I'm sure that will clear any doubts you might have.

Don't expect perfection from a port, ever (port = a ROM that's not native to the device). The motley kernel, along with UV can help you in the battery department.

My system right now is a stock ROM us retail P7310UEKHA flashed with CWM and CWM and I want to install a 3.2 stock ROM using ODIN.
The way I try to access the download menu is
1. Turn off the tab
2. wait 30 sec
3. restart with the down volume pressed
4. when the reaching the menu between recovery and dowloading. Select dowloading with the down volume button and validate with the up volume button.
Result: a black screen for 3 seconds and then the tab reboots

Thanks lupu666ro. I've tried installing stock Rom with CMW but nothing works. I have found very sparse info about nvflash. It looks like the solution but I'm a bit wary about tring this without a instructions. Could give me more info or point me to a tutorial
Thanks!
Still no luck...
So I have tried reflashing the stock US retail ROM and ran the EULA3 OTA update over it. I can't seem to figure this out.
The OTA update entered the download mode for a few seconds during the update so I am wondering if I don't simply have a locked bootloader.
I have made a video to show the problem: http://youtu.be/b09-x31ldbs

corrupted recovery

First thank you for all the wonderful work there to help us make the best out of this phone.
Yesterday, I tried to install the CM10 ROM (cm-10-20121126-UNOFFICIAL-ancora_tmo) but encountered a serious problem. Since I flashed a custom ROM last time in Aug., I haven't updated the recovery (CWM-base Recovery v5.5.0.4b). When I booted into the recovery, I found it lost all its functionality. To be specific, any selection on menu options (reboot system now, ROMwipe, wipe cache, etc.) yielded no result but a screen with a circling arrow covered by a hat. After that only the power button worked and it would simply bring you back to the main menu. I tried to communicate with the phone in ADB mode and it worked (by that I mean I can reboot it from windows command shell: adb reboot recovery). Now I have no way to update the recovery and install new ROM from there.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
If you can communicate via windows then install Odin and flash from it. Full instructions is on the wiki page

I'd followed the instruction and found the Odin rebooted to the exact recovery! There it showed a few lines like:
Galaxy Exhibit CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4b
Finding update package ...
Opening update package ...
Verifying update package ...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Now the phone can not boot into the original ROM.
When booted into recovery use volume keys to navigate in cwm. Also retry to download the ROM and try cwm before Odin.
Odin is on computer and phone is hooked via USB cable. It cannot boot into cwm if followed Odin. You ha e to download Odin and drivers for cell to be recognized.
Do a YouTube search for Odin and watch the vid it will show you. Be it noted that cell will need to be set into download mode and USB enabled.

Yes, I used the home capacitive to select those options on the main menu. No matter what I choose, however, the power button can get me the circling arrow with a hat. Another push on the button, you are back on the main menu.
You are deffeinitly booted into cwm so I suspect from the install error that the signature verification is what's failing. Try another ROM or redownload and try again

I've redownloaded the uvlg3.odin.zip package and checked its MD5. Everything is OK. Then followed the instruction on the Wiki page, but ended on the same CWM recovery screen with the same error message.
The problem is: it seems like the phone boots successfully into the recovery, but it only shows the main menu with no option functioning (like I described before).
Has anyone read about similar problem anywhere before?

[Q] HTC One M7 stuck in boot loop

Hi,
I used Hasoon's all in one tool to successfully unlock the bootloader on my One, and flashed a recovery (TWRP).
When I went to install a kernel (Bulletproof) I messed up and installed the boot.img file from bulletproof instead of loading it through recovery (dumb i know).
Now my phone just constantly reboots itself, it gets to the HTC splash screen for less than a second, and then reboots again. Holding down power + volume down does nothing either.
Can anyone help or suggest anything please?

Try holding just volume down. Do you know how to use ADB? if you time it right a fastboot reboot-bootloader will get you to bootloader or you can do it through the all in one toolkit you will have to close the first window at the right time and it will send the command for you.

Well looks like it's time to learn.
First thing that just might make this easy. In the all in one under commands there is Erase Cache. Click on that hit the ok button and then close the first window. Next windows will say waiting for device now with a little luck upon one of the reboots it will catch the device and wipe the cache. That should then allow you to hold volume down and get into the bootloader. If not let me know and we will proceed to option 2
Read through those threads and the first one was the closest to my problem.
Tried the Boot into Bootloader and Erase Cache commands from the All in One tool and both just give me "device not detected" errors. Tried them multiple times during the phone booting up, but its not even being detected by my PC.
I can't even turn the bloody thing off it just sits there on my desk buzzing every time to restarts itself.

Sorry watching the google IO man some cool new things are coming :good:
Ok now down to business. I am guessing your computer is all set up and you have drivers as you already installed a recovery. So do to the all in one toolkit then go into the data folder once there hold down Ctrl and shift and right click on empty space. You will get a option to Open Command Windows Here do that. A black dos command box will pop up. type
fastboot reboot-bootloader
it should say waiting for device
Nevermind that's not going to work. Try this when your phone is starting up hold the power button until screen goes black then immediately hold down volume down and don't let go. Try with the phone plugged in to computer and without

I would reflash custom recovery do it a couple times and after that wipe the cache. Power down the device and then turn it back on and go to recovery.
Make sure it has a decent charge on it like 30%, 50 would be best.

Use CWM because at this point you are going to have to sideload the ROM. So find the ROM you want and download it. Then rename it to rom.zip then from the all in one go to side load a rom and in clockwork mod go to the same thing might be under advanced.

Installing a custom kernel on top of an unmodified stock ROM is a very bad idea. You don't have to go full custom like TrickDroid or ARHD, but there are rooted/somewhat modified stock ROMs available to use.

Ok cool, will try that when I get home this afternoon. At this stage I just wanted to put the Bulletproof kernel on for the improved battery life and sweep functions, or do I need to install a custom ROM as well? I've got the Bulletproof zip file on my PC so am I renaming that?

If that's what you originally did then that's what caused this to happen. You can not install a custom kernel on a stock Rom. Unremarked is 100% correct. Also check the Rom to make sure it supports a custom kernel. Trick droid is nice coupled with a custom kernel you can use the HTC logo for a menu button

That is, stupidly, what I did. Wasn't aware I couldn't install a kernel on stock ROM.
So....
From here install a custom ROM via sideload through the all in one tool?
Then install the new kernel?
Been doing some more reading and I think I'll go with the Renovate ROM, so I should just need to install a recovery again and then sideload the ROM?

Yes sir. Make sure to flash the rom and then boot the phone up. Then restart again to recovery and then flash kernel.

Thank you nullkill, looks like the latest build of the ROM doesn't support Bulletproof kernel anymore (or its unstable if used) so I'll just flash the ROM I think, or do I need to install the stock kernel after flashing the ROM too?
Sorry for all the questions :cyclops:

No problem. You should be able to flash the rom and be good. If you have any issues make sure to wipe the cache.
Flashed Renovate and all back up and running now, thanks for the help and suggestions.

Problem with my s3 mini GT-I8190 reboot every 20 or 30 seconds

I write here to help me solve a problem with the mini s3 after turning not spend 30 seconds when powered down or rebooted ...
I did full wipes and reset from recovery and nothing .. I did the * 2767 * 3588 # either .. by odin I did a wipeI8190.md5 and nothing .. the cel turns back on as your last finished reboot .. in fact if I make a modification before they shut down or restart the phone back and not assumes the change .. and the USB debugging is not activated
I wonder if anyone happened to this and can help me.. the warranty is lost
thanks
First thing is to see if stock firmware in odin can help.

if you see in the last part of the second video i did the factory reset and the phone restart without nothing happend
i think you should flash TWRP or clockworkmod, make a backup of your files also the present rom,
After that, flash with a new rom like Cyanogenmod 10.2 from Maclaw and revert with the difference, maybe the problem will be fixed..

you can do it with your android recovery, mount you internal or external sdcard with android recovery, download TWRP with zip format. and flash it within your android recovery with install.zip.
You can search on Youtube for tutorials.

thanks for trying to help.. :good:
Hey Brother,
Very Welcome, yes i've seen the videos, try to mount the internal sdcard with android recovery and copy the twrp recovery, or use another phone and copy the twrp file onto external SD Card, there's an option on recovery called update.zip flash with it,
if there's no change at all, try to flash it with ODIN.. if it don't recognize due to absence of USB Debugging, there's a tool called Samsung GS3 Mini ToolKit. maybe can help you. if not try with samsung KIES .. if also nothing helped you at this point, search around the internet for your problem, maybe you can find some useful help..
Cordially, I.R.

actually its really simple to solve this problem...
1 - download and install the samsung drivers from here (http://get.maclaw.pl/?id=61)
2 - download odin here and install it.
3 - reboot your pc (this is the easy way to kill all kies processes and unwanted things) and make shure that kies dont start with windows.(if you have it installed)
4 - download this http://get.maclaw.pl/?id=301 (its the maclaw cm 4.4.2 for odin with the recovery twrp)
5 - flash the phone with odin(FOR THIS YOU NEED TO BOOT THE PHONE IN DOWNLOAD MODE, just boot the phone pressing POWER+VOLUME DOWN AND THE HOME BUTTON until a triangle and a warning appears follow maclaws guide -> http://maclaw.pl/installation-guide-golden/)... as soon as the flash finishes you'll be trapped in a boot loop (missing GAPPS)
just try to boot it the system should crash dont worry you're on the good way.
5.2 - remove the battery and put it back in (now you phone should be off)
6 - reboot on the new recovery that comes with the maclaw Rom you've just flashed for that you need to press POWER + VOLUME UP AND HOME BUTTON and mount you SD CARD.(you phone sould appear on you pc as a storage device or something like that)
7 - download this GAPPS here(http://get.maclaw.pl/?id=164)
8 - copy the downloaded GAPPS to you phone.
9 - go back to the 1st menu of the TWRP (a.k.a recovery) and you should see a thing saying install zip or flash zip (something like that)
9.2 - select the Gapps you've downloaded and flash it.
9.3 - after the flash finish select reboot system
9.4 - phone should start installing updates after the reboot
10 - wait until it finishes and the problem should be solved. now you can go back to the stock rom or stay with this rom.
the problem here is there's an app causing that problem. i had the same problem a few months ago.
the phone whould just crash or not function at all, rebooting all the time or from time to time...(it was one of the games i've installed from market)
after the phone is working dont install apps from unknow developers. even if it is from the market (believe wen i say you can get apps from the market that makes you're phone to malfunction).
