Description
Forget all the slow, ugly and unresponsive EPUB readers, and enjoy your e-book library in SlickPub!
Features and stuff:
- Simple user interface - no need for over-complicated settings and configurations. Just read and enjoy.
- Pure Android Holo Design with fast responses and slick animations.
- Support of images and styles.
- Fulltext search within your e-books.
- Simple file browser.
- Custom bookmarks.
- Full tablet support.
This app might not have as many features as Aldiko, Moon+, FBReader and such, but I was not satisfied with any of those, so I had to do my own. And I consider SlickPub having much better user experience.
Let's keep it simple. Just read.

I thank you! I'm actually pretty proud of it, and it's nice to hear it from other people for a change .
Really nice epub reader, looking forward to future updates. Do you plan to implement cloud sync someday soon?

Cloud sync is #1 on my to-do list, so expect it in the very next update. There are also plans for online libraries, as well as copy & share, some basic font settings and few more features. There is plenty to do, but I will still keep it as simple on the outside as it is .
I am not ready yet to release new features, but there is one small update:

Attention Android Themers! Project Theme Manager is a Go!
We are opening our newest project to the public in Beta form. Now is your chance if you want to be a part of this exciting new project!
The public website is at http://n3xgenapps.com and registration is free and open.
To Android Themers:
We need your assistance in getting this project off the ground. Without your themes in the public listing, this project is completely useless. For that reason, we are not releasing the Android App just yet. I'm sure you know the public would tear it apart in the market with bad reviews for lack of theme choice and 1 stars, etc.
Feel free to join us on Freenode IRC (#N3xGenApps) at any time for more information or to give some feedback, or even just to chat.
To the rest of the public:
The android app is in the market and FREE to everyone! Go grab your copy and get your theme on! https://market.android.com/details?id=com.n3xgenapps.theme.manager
Thanks, and as always, enjoy!
N3xGen Theme Manager has just been updated!
We've added the ability for developers to include their themes in multiple types and categories now, which means its now even easier to find the themes you're looking for.
New App Features
★ New icon and theme! - Thanks Kovdev!
★ You can now view an image in full screen.
★ Bug fixed (Hopefully, let me know if otherwise via email).
★ Added an all apps tab inside each theme section.
New Site Features
★ Added a donate button.
★ Developers can now have multiple categories per theme.
★ A new advanced edit screen to edit your existing themes.
More changes are in the near future as well.

Nice app - telling all my friends to add their themes in
Presumably once non-market themes can be uploaded MIUI themes could be added too.

Right now it only downloads themes from the market like ADW, LP, GOLauncher, and ThemeChooser. But we are working on adding in developer uploads (and/or outside linking to files), which will allow for rooted theming to take place (update.zip and metamorph, etc).
very nice, very fast. More theme and this is the best app for themes XD i love it
http://n3xgenapps.com/blog/Compatibility-fixes-with-Theme-Manager-app-now-in-market!
We've fixed some compatibility issues and now support down to 2.1 Eclair API (update is in the market). This should make the app more widely available among devices.
We also have an apk for 1.6 Donut API, but we're still testing it at the moment. Expect to see this pushed to market later tonight or early tomorrow.
Question regarding the themes - let's say I'm a themer from a google-checkout-unsupported-country (thank you, google...) and I have a LP theme I've put on sale through paypal, for a buck - and I'd like to expand the audience.
Shortly - does this hypothetical (ekhm, http://blazingdroid.blogspot.com/2011/08/dark-metro-solid-black.html ) theme has to be already available in the android market as a paid app if I'd like to submit it to you (which means you don't handle the accounting), or somehow you've just discovered a savior-solution for a lot of people who are in a situation like mine?
Because, you know, that would be simply awesome. Paypal mobile payments library perhaps? Simple concept - theme preview in Theme Manager, user taps buy button > webView opens within the app (users don't like the browser popping up), user inputs his paypal credentials (or the browser, if it already had them rembered)> user taps buy button > theme apk automatically downloads to a folder on sd card, Theme Manager applies it. Done. Snappy.
EDIT
feature request - fullscreen preview screenshots. The existing ones, well, they're available, but my guess is users want bigger ones. More details.

I wish there was a way to do that, but unfortunately we are requiring all paid themes submitted to our app to be directed through the official android market (for legal reasons).

EDIT: Actually, this is already been updated and is in the market.
Yup, just been reading your site, the update notice.
Screenshots yeah
Fast responsive developer - tick.
Great idea for an app - tick.
Neat, jazzy execution - tick.
Ease of use - tick.
Large theme database - pending.
You know where it goes? To a sccessfull business model.
Lots of normal, xda-unaware users would gladly see a tool for better theme management. This is it. With time, it will get more publicity. Become more popular. Spread as the preferred way, easy, hassle-free way to apply themes - at least for the standard users.
Cause installing a custom rom and theming it top to bottom requires root, and root requires lose of warranty, and 95% of people like their warranties more.. Plain simple.
____
Edit: Just added my theme.
Feature request - clickable hyperlinks in the theme description. They're kinda vital for the ease user experience You know, quick setup guide [here], some hints [there], a resource pack of icons, walls [there], contact dev [my site].
small bug - '&' turns into '&'
Updated the app and the site.
Details in O.P.
Enjoy!
Hi,
I published a BETA of my new ebook reader, Bookviser. If you want to test it, please email me your Live ID associated with your Windows Phone 7 device, I will add you to the beta testers list and send you the Marketplace download link. My email is [email protected]
Bookviser can read EPUB, FB2 and TXT files. You can download books using incorporated Feedbook search or upload books from your computer.
Thank you.
Alex
Ebook readers without OPDS support are nonsense today. Also, you don't support hyphenation (especially for Russian), don't you?
New ebook reader app may have some sense, if you (at least!) implement all functionality of Jim Chapman's "Freda" ebook reader...

Thank you for your comment . Honestly I did not think about OPDS support, but will add it for sure.
As to hyphenation, it was planned and will be added in new versions as well. This is only the beginning. I just decided to publish a version with basic features first and then add new one by one.
If there is dropbox support, that's enough for me.
UI looks way better than freda.
Also, single book pinning to start screen is a must.
Just used the app for some time. UI is smooth and beautiful. Page transition is smooth too.

What about navigation and font sizes ?
help
I am trying to use bookviser and even downloaded the sync tool, there is no confirmation it is uploaded, can't view online library. And it appears to be available to download on my device but then it errors out am I doing something wrong, epub is about 170mb

The font sizes are going from 25 to 40, but I will add smaller sizes by the time of release.
What do you mean by navigation?
Loving this app, just what I needed.
The "goto page" is great, nice interface, smooth page flip. Once you get the skydrive support working (or do folders/management of Bookviser account storage) this thing will be top shelf!
Looking good! Serious alternative to Freda and Raccoon. But please add DropBox support! All my books are there.
I think there's a bug somewhere. When I try to open a book in epub, downloaded from net, 1.74 mb of space, the app crashes. And also, a dropbox support would be great. In rest, if dropbox will be added, I will uninstall FREDA and never even try other ebook reader. Cross my heart. Cheers and great work

Everybody who couldn't install yet, try this:
1. copy the zune-link i sent you.
2. write a mail to yourself.
3. open it on your phone.
for the 12 folks that are already in i sent a mail to their live-inbox.
hope that solves the installation issue.
Installing got no problem.Try google you tube it's quite fast and manage toplay video without any problem. The only thing I must get used to the tab.Well so far there's not any bug yet .
When I make a new tab it seems I can't search when I type xda developers it says ERROR Invalid url.I think every tab that we make if possible make to the home page.

BETA tester
My response from BETA-testing. (Note: Even if you have posted some bugs I'll still fill my list with what I experience)
Phone: LG Optimus 7
Status: Works perfectly!
My current status: Stopped BETA testing.
Positive:
100% fullscreen
Customization!
Live tile with information about current session!!
Slide up the URL tab on fullscreen to get to normal view without fullscreen.
Fast web browser
Share page function (lovely!!)
It's now my official MAIN browser!

Things to maybe improve & suggestions:
First startpage is google.de, could have been google.com (but nothing special actually)
Maybe you could make your own videoplayer to play eg. youtube videos on, instead of using the phone's player (not required since the videoplayer of the phone is also good)
Also have the abillity to press the favorites url instead of only the visit button at the bottom. But keep it.
Maybe slide with 2 or 3 fingers down on the screen for entering/exiting fullscreen mode?
-
-
Negative and or Currently found bugs:
When entering fullscreen mode, it's hard to get back to regular. I had to tap like 5 times on the black button at the bottom left. (hard to use the button)
If the application opens without internet connection it will say ERROR, no network available. But it does say it when I change to other menus such as settings (keep spamming ERROR everywhere)
Theres no suggestion of websites when entering a url for eg. if you enter www.fa it could show up some suggestions like facebook or failblog.
-
I'll edit this post with more when I find
thanks for that wonderful feedback, so much inspiration
some response to the bugs:
- i'm currently working on the suggestionlist, shouldn't be that difficult.
- for the fullscreen-button i got a new solution, what should make it much
easier.
- the Network-check must be fixxed, thanks for your discovery.
@Ttblondey: search function is now included
I have given my review here and video review here.
Overall I found the app to be very nice and smooth. A good alternative for sure but there are few things you can look into except the bugs which is already reported.
1) One is integration with skydrive for syncing bookmarks etc.
2) More Gestures
3 ) Open up option for both Google and Bing as search engine.
4 ) cookie turn on and off.
Rest is all good, keep us rolled in beta.

Please read the first post carefully
I would like a "Search for text" function in the functions menu Would be awesome to be able to search for words on a page
And else I can say that I'm really happy with the browser, works well, and hopefully soon releasing? Because then you could like update with small minor updates incase something is needed
Happy New Year roqstr!
there's a search for text function ;O it's just not my own at the moment, a provisional solution,if you will
Yea, but i always find features that shouldn't be missing in the release-version, to make it working right
next week i'll be busy with school, shouldn't fail my exams
afterwards, i'd be able to release an open beta, just for some extra feedback
next step is fixing last issues and then i'll release ;P
if somebody do have experience with apphub, pubcenter & co, he can pm me to help me understanding
thanks, hope you all enjoyed New Year's Eve, i did ;P
Still waiting to test this thing
it looks nice, can't wait for release :O
I wrote a browser, based on IE its in my signature.
I'll be happy to test your browser and get better result to my and your app.
Biggest issue at the moment is the picture-viewer, but I hope I can handle this soon.
@sma6871: I'll test it and message you when I have questions or suggestions.
Unfortunately I forget to set trial mode, but now I send a trial mode enable update, and it will be up to date soon.
open beta out now. read 1st post!
Here is my feedback :
1.Dropdown to switch between search engines
2 Where did Advance Main Colour Gone ?
3. When I try yo change Main Colour Accent Colour it gives me sorry message "You Should not Overwrite the accent style"
4. Find Text Crashes the app
5. You can think of ignoring pics which are of very small size in the Picture view.
6. Picture viewer also picks up YouTube thumbnail as picture but does not display anything.
Hi guys,
Being an avid news/Rss reader, I was annoyed by the limitations setup by popular apps(Feedly, Flipboard, etc). So, I started developing this app for myself initially and it came out really good. So, thinking of sharing it with you guys
Pure Rss Reader is a simple RSS Reader with following features:
- Offline reading : Save feeds to the device to be able to access them when you are not connected to the network.
- Periodic sync intervals : Specify how frequently the app should refresh all the feeds.
- Download full articles from website along with the feeds. Currently, only the HTML content is displayed.
- layouts optimized for phone(Card, List) and Tablet(FlipView, ViewPager)
- Variable Image quality(offline) : You can specify the image quality that sshould be saved to the SdCard. This helps reduce the space taken by the app
- Sharing articles to your favorite app
- Multiple fonts
- Clean up : You can specify how frequently a cleanup should be performed to clear the offline articles. Use this feature to optimize the content on your SdCard
- Save feed images to SD card
Future releases
- Opml import/export
- Optimized layouts
- dark theme
- Feedly sync(tentative)
Screenshots are available on the play store.
Go to play store to download
The app is currently in beta stage and it contains ads. If you want to test the app, please join the beta program at this url https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.udn4hc.purerss
You can search for the app in play store with the term - udn4hc . This app has in-app purchasing to remove ads, which can be overcome by becoming a License tester(I need to add your email addresses manually. So, please PM me your gmail ID).
After you become a License tester, open the left drawer and click "Purchase Premium". On the payment page, you should see a message stating that you won't be charged for the transaction. It generally takes a couple hours for google to process the tester status.
Known Issues
- A couple of default feeds provided need to be updated
I look forward to the feedback guys
Reserved!
Thanks for sharing. Does it sync with Feedly? To me that is a must have, I use gReader on my phone and Feedly on the desktop, cross-platform sync is essential.

Feedly sync is a work in progress. Am having trouble getting a production key for my app from them at the moment. I plan to release the app once I have it.
Being an avid news reader, I really missed the good old Google reader when it shut down. After that, a couple of services like Feedly, FlipBoard popped up...but I didn't like the curation done by them. Feedly is an awesome service...but its UI has become really old and no longer interesting.
I prefer my news only from a couple of websites and don't want any curation. In my opinion, an Rss reader should be lite and offer a complete offline support -- I hate turning my phone to a brick when the network goes off.
So I started off on this project initially for my personal use, but decided to release it for public use. It is adfree and I don't hold any backend servers to serve the feeds. This app grabs the feeds directly from the websites you subscribe to and save them on your device. I have provided a couple of default feeds, but you can add your own feeds as well. OPML import available too.
This app has come out really well so far and now, I can use some feedback from the XDA community to perfect it Please let me know how I can improve the app further.
Note on Feedly Support Feedly support is done, but the developers at feedly have closed down support for new apps. I will enable that as soon as I get a response from them here https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/feedly-cloud/6OHPVevlnRM. If you have a developer token and would like to use that feature, let me know and I will push an update with limited feedly functionality(250 api calls per day, manually refresh your token every 30 days).
I am currently working on having support for NewsBlur service here.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.udn4hc.purerss
To list out a few features in the app -
- Complete offline support
- flip scrollng - similar to flipboard
- pager scrolling - similar to feedly
- standard Android scrolling with lists and cards
- Custom sync/cleanup
- Alternate Themes - 11 currently, including a dark theme
- Material Design
- OPML Import
- Add Custom feeds
- 6 fonts available
- Readability mode - Save full articles from websites(this is in beta and hence, the option is slightly hidden)
