[Q] LTE-only Mode - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hi everyone.
I'm having some issues related to the mobile operator signal (CLARO BR).
The I9305-T only have the LTE option associated to the the other type of frequencies (LTE/GSM/HSPA).
Is there anyway in which I can choose a "LTE-ONLY" frequency?
My phone is rooted and the ROM is Samsung original (odexed).

1st of all, no such option yet. 2nd, the option is not practical as there is no place in the earth that have full coverage of lte network now. So if you do have such option to choose only lte network , you will find that you will always be disconnected when you enter some area that don't have lte network

I asked that because I have Lte coverage at work and at home.
Elsewhere in my city, the usual coverage is the H+.
I thought there was an app, a kind of a switcher, which would only work on rooted phones.
Anyway, thanks bro.

Settings, under networks, more, mobile networks, network mode and select wcdma + LTE . Its the closest you'll get for the moment and beware LTE is a battery hog.

Go to the engineering menu (type *#197328640# inside the phone.)
There go to [1] UMTS, [1] DEBUG SCREEN, [8] PHONE CONTROL, [7] NETWORK CONTROL, [2] BAND SELECTION, [4] LTE Band Preference, [5] LTE ALL
Note, that you will lose all non-LTE connection after this, and this option is saved, and not reset during a reboot! You will not be able to call anyone, but you will be able to use LTE speeds properly!
To go back open engineering menu again.
Then [1] UMTS, [1] DEBUG SCREEN, [8] PHONE CONTROL, [7] NETWORK CONTROL, [2] BAND SELECTION, [1] Automatic, [1] Automatic
No root access needed for this, works with all Samsung and Samsung based ROMs. Don't know whether it works with CM.
Use with care! As I've said you will lose access to non-LTE bands after the change until you reset it! A reboot or a firmware upgrade will not reset it! (Reflashing the modem firmware will however)

Thanks for your help!
I found this engineering menu and it worked fine. That's what I wanted!

Try to dial *#*#4636#*#* if it works, you'll see a menu where you can force the network mode

[q] lte, hspa+, edge

I'm looking for a method that will allow me to manually select what sort of mobile internet to use (LTE, HSPA+, EDGE).
This is for two reasons mainly:
1)Better battery life on 3G vs LTE
2)With a data cap I'd rather have lower speeds where I can control data usage better
3)All 4.2 ROMS do not show the mobile signal strength indicator on LTE but does show up for HSPA+ etc
I have tried several methods shown in various forums but to no avail. Also even unselecting 'automatic' and manually registering 3G under 'network operators' does not seem to fix this.
I am using T-Mobile in an LTE area.
Thanks

thanks will try it out.
Also, *#*#4636#*#* works on Mexican Retail (confirmed). And this fixes the problem for network signal indicator (not for LTE though)

Signal on E , 3g, H and H+/LTE

Hi I'm having a problem with signal that have to chance back from the E to 3g/H/H+, where the signal is strong enough to. Even when the umts is stronger, it won't switch back when it's on edge
The switching between these 3 umts types is normal
Is there a bug or is it the radio in the phone
Do I have to sent it back for hardware check

I didnt got ya!
You mean your phone is going from E to 3G/H/H+ or backwards automatically? if this is your problem then go to settings, under wireless and networks section select more, select mobile networks then select network modes. Select WCDMA for 3G/H/H+ or GSM for E.

[Q] No 3G on unlocked Sprint HTC one M8 in Spain

I have a HTC One M8 sprint that i bought on Ebay, i have no problem to make and receive calls after i unlocked it but there is no mobile internet.
My APN Settings is correct, however i only have the option of bearer: LTE or eHRPD or Unspecified
When i search for networks on my normal phone i always get two options:
Movistar 2G
Movistar 3G
Vodafone 2G
Vodafone 3G
and the other networks here.
On the HTC that i sim unlocked i only get:
Movistar
Vodafone
Orange
There is no indication on if it is 2G or 3G.
*#*#4636#*#*
Have set it at GSM Auto PRL and restarted the phone, i have also tried all other network types without success.
Under Phone Info i get Current Network Movistar
GPRS Disconnected (Cant seem to activate that)
GSM: In Service
Network Type: Unknown
I have tried different radios, but no one has worked and they all end up with the phone entering a loop where it restarts and cant recognice the SIM card.
Mobile Network Settings:
Network mode: GSM/UMTS Only
Allow GSM Data: Ticked the box
Is there anyone who has been in the same situation and who has found a solution?
I have seen a number of posts where people say that they cant get data but calls is working, but the only resolution that people has offered is to set the GSM Auto PRL and restart the phone, that has not worked for me.
Very happy for any help that you can give!
Thanks
I am having same issue
Any solutions yet ?
Have you tried setting a GSM band from the top menu of *#*#4636#*#*?

You mean by changing bro wcdma prefered or gsm pro ?
Yes everything
Use QPST tool and allow all 3G networks to work. It unlocks all 3G networks. You are not getting UMTS signal because Sprint by default has unlocked only US 3G band (I think 1800). Hence, you need to unlock all 3G networks

Check in settings if you have 2G-only mode set.
If not, downgrade to 4.1.2 and do *#2236# to reset Automatic band selection mode - it could be set to 2G band preference mode.
Also, check if your SIM can do 3G/4G - if it's an original microSIM (not a miniSIM cut down to fit), chances are it's 3G-ready.

i9305 with USA bands set, any way to change it?
Hi,
I have the same problem, can't connect 3G nor 4G, only 2G/2.5G but my case is weird. I bought a refurbished i9305 and it came with USA baseband instead of European, WTF! the i9305 is the international version... so I deduced they changed the qualcomm chip or configuration to match USA market. I'm using it now in Europe, so the bands don't match.
I saw it dialing *#*#4636#*#* (I'm using cyanogenmod instead of stock rom so the *#2236# doesn't work) and then at Phone information click on settings key (screenshot attached).
The question now is: is there any way to modify the qualcomm basebands settings to match another region? (Europe for instance)
ps. flashing a modem/baseband doesn't work. I already flashed I9305XXBME3 (Spain) and I9305XXUEML5 and it remains the same. I think these baseband settings are configured low level at qualcomm modem chip (the i9305 has an exynos cpu but with a qualcomm modem chip if I'm not wrong).

You NEED to use TW rom for this to work. The setting in *#*#4636#*#* is simply a more detailed veraion of the one in the Settings menu. The one in *#2263# (not *#2236#, that was a typo) is the one that actually writes to NVRAM.
