Has anyone tried to connect and cast multiple chormecast to one device? if u have 2 tvs with 2 chromecast hook up to them, can u use a tablet or a phone and cast a video to 2 tvs at a same time ? Or u need to have a second tablet to cast to the second tv?

wont work or at least wont be synced. I own 3 (will be 4 soon) total. 2 in a single house on the same connection so I know.

It looks like the app will "search for chromecast" on the network and it looks like it has room for more than one on the list, and im assuming (since I dont have mine yet) that you can send it to each one individually but not at the same time.
Let's say with YouTube - when you are casting from the app, if you back out and open a new video by default it does not push that straight to the TV. Instead you can either add it to TV Queue, or cast it instantly to Chromecast, or switch it back to the phone/tablet and play locally without affecting the Chromecast. So I would presume you could open a second video, switch to the second Chromecast, and cast a second video there. The only issue is you may no longer be able to pause the first Chromcast with the same device.

That's a bummer, I was hoping to do multi room audio with this. So, if i had 2 cast devices, one upstairs and one downstairs, you are saying I would be able to see both cast devices on my phone/tablet when I click on the cast button, but would only be able to select one of the 2 devices to play to?
So, in other words, I can only play to 1 cast device at a time and not simultaneously play to both?
Yes

So far, anyway. There could be future innovations. Perhaps the SDK would allow an enterprising dev to create group Chromecasts.
Ok, I've done what the user want's but totally by accident. Here's how it transpired.
- I cast a Netflix video to the TV in the family room.
- Right after that I rebooted my phone. Netflix still running on my Chromecast. Doesn't need the phone to keep streaming Netflix.
- I then went into YouTube and cast a video onto the bedroom Chromecast.
So, it can be done. I don't recommend rebooting the phone every time but force closing appropriate apps should do the trick.

1) You don't even need to do that. You can cast a Netflix video, then go into Youtube and press the cast button to send a video to a different Chromecast.
2) The OP was looking to simultaneously push the same content, synchronized, to two Chromecast units at once. Not possible so far.

Hello,
Ive just got my Chromecast from Zavvi.com and got it all set up and connected to the wifi. I am ready to cast but am having some issues.
I cant get any videos or sound to come out from it
When I try to send a youtube video, it switches to that video, tells me what it is but the video doesnt play, simply displaying a black screen.
When I go to play music, it goes to tell me I am in play music but I cant hear anything.
When I go to play videos, same thing. Says I want to watch transformers - but then just displays a black screen.
I have also tried casting from my chrome tab, which works fine - but as soon as you go to youtube.com within your chrome tab and try to cast it... guess what... chromecast is aware of the film you have chosen to watch, but it doesnt actually play it.
I have it updated, devices are as follows:
Nexus 5
BT homehub 5
Acer laptop running latest chrome browser
Chromecast using latest firmware - it updated itself
The only thing it does flawlessly so far is casting from a chrome tab.

When you tab-cast from Chrome on your desktop, the video stream is being received by your computer and re-transmitted to Chromecast over your local network. But when you send a Youtube video to the Chromecast, it is trying to receive the stream directly, which fails in your case. Answer is obvious: the Chromecast does not have full access to the internet. Something in your router or network configuration is blocking it, but not blocking your computer.

I read on another forum, that UPnP and IGMP multicast is required at the router level for Chromecast to work. And that BT's new homehub 5 doesn't support this?
Is this true, would this be a likely cause?
Why would BT output a new router that didn't have functionality of old routers?
Any other ideas what might be the cause? The chromecast thinks it is online - it doesnt seem to say it isnt.

Can someone help me out. I have plain jane chrome cast it has not been rooted. Whenever im streaming to my TV in the middle of watching a show it just stops. It does not matter if its on my phone, tablet or from my laptop via google chrome. The only way to get it going again is to unplug the chromecast and start all over. I thought the whole point of the chromecast was to stream to tv. I've had it for like 2 months and so far it sucks.

Most important question here is what application are you casting from?
There's a huge difference in required bandwidth casting media compared to casting media from YouTube, Hulu, etc.

Also, check the wireless signal strength at the TV's location. Mine was also stopping mid-stream on our kitchen TV after performing flawlessly on the one in the LV. I was wondering what had gone wrong until I remembered that wireless reception is a bit dicey in the kitchen.

Very good and important point.
I just made a post describing the different bandwidth needs and router quality that might help visualize things better for the picture-oriented.
Hi,
When sending content from Netflix from my phone, my tablet also automatically shows what the Chromecast is playing and if I want to watch Netflix on the tablet, I can't. If I disconnect the Chromecast stops playing.
Is there anyway to stream Netflix from one device and watch regular Netflix on another?
Thanks a lot.

Have you tried logging into a different Netflix profile on the other device (the one not casting)?

No, but thats a good idea. I will try that later. Thanks a lot!!
So I got a Galaxy S2 tab for Christmas and while it's pretty good on thing has been a huge letdown. One of the main things I wanted from it was to be able to connect it to the TV via a cable to watch films and TV shows .However with the tablet it will display the screen on the TV for me but the picture is small in the middle of the TV taking up around only 40% of the screen in total, the rest of it is a black box surrounding the picture.
I've tried messing with the display and aspect ratio on the TV but nothing gets it quite right. I've used a succession of Samsung phones with cables over the years and never have had a single problem, it's usually perfect.
Has anyone any insights into what might help or is this just not the right tablet when it comes to watching on the TV?
Different aspect ratios.
For the price of a chromecast nowadays it's pointless messing around with cables. The picture is not only superior but no need to have the screen on either.

Thank you for replying Ashyx. Is there nothing I can do then as far as the cable goes?
I have a Chromecast but I don't find support for quite a lot of apps I want to use, even on the apps that do support it they won't cast recent screenings, just older episodes . The cast screen option also suffers from the aspect ratio problem so that doesn't help.

Sorry,I wasn't clear. I meant on several of the apps I use only offer chromecast support for older shows and older episodes but not recent ones. They all play fine on the tablet though. I like to use the cable for those. That's why I find the chromecast doesn't rival the cable for me so I'd love to fix the issue if possible.

If you can tell me what sort of media you are trying to watch and which apps I can probably help you play it with chromecast.
There is nothing I haven't been able to play with chromecast. You just need the right software.
I play all sorts of media, from tv shows, to movies, to music.
Infact practically any media online, local or server based is playable.

That's really kind of you, thank you. Sorry for the late reply I was sick.
Mostly I'd like to watch shows from apps that are available in my home country or Ireland like RTE player. It's a tv show player app but doesn't have chromecast support. Also Channel 4 in the UK have an app called All 4 , while they have some content available for casting to chromecast the newer shows can only be watched within the app with no casting. They have hdmi blocked but I found an xposed module for getting around that.
If you've any insights or know anyway around these kind of problems I'd be very grateful. I'm grateful for your help so far too.
Hi guys,
I live in Israel. I Bought Chromecast with Google TV and I have some problem.
Due to bad internet connection on my house and country, I have problems to stream apps like Netflix and PLEX, It doesn't stream smoothly like I watch on my laptop for example.
My main use is to watch movies that I'm downloading in my compute with subtitles I'm adding. Is there another solution to watch movies and Cetra directly throw the streamer and not via PLEX and Cetra?
The second question, I'm assuming that if ill connect the strimmer and the laptop directly to the Internet cable things will improve. The problem is I'm in my room and connecting to the Wi-Fi in the living room. I have the cable company equipment here also but I don’t really know what he does. But I think some of them connect the device to the internet.
I'm adding pics of my equipment. I'll be happy if you could help me.
Thanks.
Cast them to Chromecast from VLC.

Start playing the file in VLC and then right mouse click playback|renderer and you should see your chromecast device listed.
