I keep getting an error when I try to s-off my wife phone after the new official T-Mobile update. Are there any tricks or techniques that would help me gain s-off. My phone had s-off via revone before I updated so I don't have the problem.

i guess your HBoot version is now 1.54 after updating, before it was 1.44. right now we don't have the possibility to get s-off with 1.54, you'll have to wait.

That update apparently closed the exploit revone uses to gain root access. You probably have to unlock via htcdev first.

If they closed the exploit, how will unlocking help? He will be unlocked and can root, but not S-Off.

Im having the same problem. I have a tmobile htc one on 1.44. It has been dev unlock. I have tried 5 different rooms. Did all the s-ff steps manually on a mac and pc and also use the all in one tool kit and i keep getting error codes.
iMac:android gabrielcastro$ ./adb-mac push revone /data/local/tmp
4569 KB/s (648208 bytes in 0.138s)
iMac:android gabrielcastro$ ./adb-mac shell

[email protected]:/data/local/tmp # chmod 755 revone
[email protected]:/data/local/tmp # ./revone -P
revone v0.2.1
revone failed (error code = -6)
How about moonshine... Did anybody try that with update

Just to be clear, I'm sorta in the same boat. My phone badly needs to run the T-Mobile RUU and I don't really care about S-Off. What I do care about is getting root later on. My bootloader is already unlocked via HTC dev. Running the RUU on my phone shouldn't cause any problems in my scenario since I don't care about S-Off, correct?

I made s off before using the revone method. I wanted to turn back to stock(I decided to sell the phone at that time) and again I used the revone to remove tampered sign and get my hboot locked.
I am currently using my phone but no matter how much I tried I am stuck with error code -6 as a result cannot s-off again. Is there a solution for this? I tried on stock, stock rooted, custom roms and different kernels. I also tried the moonshine with stock rom but no luck again. If there is any one could solve this please help.

I may be wrong, but if you've already s off'd, I don't believe you need to do that step. Try skipping on to:
5. Now that revone has successfully prepared your device for S-OFF please open another adb shell (as per step 2) and change to
the /data/local/tmp directory.
6. Instruct revone to grant you S-OFF and unlock status by running the command: ./revone -s 0 -u
6a. Other optional command arguments:-
* -u - Unlock the device
* -l - Lock the device (as if it was never unlocked)
* -r - Relock the device (mark the device as relocked)
* -t - Reset the device's tamper flag.
7. Presuming revone reported success please reboot the device again, this time to the bootloader (adb reboot bootloader)
8. You should now observe your device is S-OFF (and the lock status changed if you invoked that option).
9. (optional) Re-run revone to remove TAMPERED from your HBOOT screen: ./revone -t

I'm also stuck with "error code = -6" following the ./revone -P step, but since buying the phone from new I've never had it s-off. I've followed every step to a T with absolutely no luck... not sure if there's any binary/kernal stuff that's stopping me getting s-off access...I don't know enough about all that yet.
Anyway if anyone has any advice or has found a way round this issue it'd be awesome to hear from you.

If the phone is new, there is no s-off exploit for it. Previous exploits have been patched. There might be hope if you have a US phone as there is a way to revert to earlier firmware provided you're still on hboot 1.44.

Yes it does, and if you took that update, even with hboot 1.44, the exploit has been patched and you have to wait until the revone team finds a new method.

Thanks for the info but that sounds scary to do. I'm still a noob at this i think i'll wait for the rev team to find a workaround.
I currently have a stock rogers htc one on 4.1.2 and hboot 1.44 with stock recovery and s-on.
I've gone through the steps for s-off using revone but it always fails after ./revone -P command. It gets root access successfully and then eventually just reboots the phone. Revone successful is not shown and no error is given.
I have waited 2min or more and restarted the process and it will reboot the phone again after revone -P with no errors.
Weird thing is if I continue with the steps after the reboot and do ./revone -s 0 -u it says successful but it doesn't really do anything as I'm still s-on.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Because people have lives and don't just waste their time going though hundreds of posts. The mistake was not to search for specifics like : can you s-off on 531.11? However, I accepted the OTA before I even thought about S OFF. And I only thought about S OFF when I wanted to covert it to GE. After I played with GE I am back to leaked htc 4.3 with sense 5.
This week sound silly, but just keep repeating it until it works. Revone works on the Rogers stock firmware.

Yes, use revone, on the phone you have to type:
su
./revone -l
Check the first page of the revone thread in the original development section.
I just had a thought, you might need to install an older ROM.
to LOCK your bootloader, enter the following:
adb devices
adb shell
su (if needed to get a # prompt)
echo -ne '\x00\x00\x00\x00' | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=33796
(i would very strongly recomend you copy/paste this)
exit
(exit a second time if you need to to get back to a normal > prompt)
adb reboot bootloader
verify you are now locked

Download revone (above) and push it to your device: adb push revone /data/local/tmp/
2. Open an adb shell and:
cd /data/local/tmp
chmod 755 revone
3. (optional) If your device is unlocked and rooted please switch to root using su.
4. Prepare to gain S-OFF by running the command: ./revone -P
Might you have missed the "revone" after the 755 command? Also try switching to superuser again after the chmod command as the link suggests, since you have root it may help.

I guess to do that Id have to be using the PC to do the reboots after putting in the commands.

I've been doing some research and apparently your software was from an OTA update and prevents the S-OFF exploit. You may need to downgrade your version for the s-off methods to work.
Have a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45487258#post45487258
"The issue is with 1.26.502.15 not HBOOT. Downgrade from 1.26.502.15 to 1.26.502.10 then upgrade to 1.26.502.12. The HBOOT will still be 1.44. (S-OFF using revone works)."
Sounds like a common problem with this software version.

How did you convert your phone to GPe edition without s-off ?
to get s-off on your HBOOT you need to use sunshine: http://theroot.ninja/

no not anymore, sunshine is the only way, im very surprised GPe worked on your phone whilst your s-on, even the requirements say:
Requirements
-GSM HTC One (m7ul/m7tmo/m7att)
-Latest Custom Recovery with 4.4 support (TWRP 2.6.3.3+, CWR 6.0.4.3+)
-S-OFF (SuperSID or GoogleSID)
your lucky you got away with that and your not bricked

if your looking at SD v16 and Maximus HD 50.0 your don't need to upgrade your firmware, its recommended but not required, lots of people are installing it on their old firmware.

my preferred way to do what i am planning is to update it in the GPE mode from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 manually. but for that i need to change the CID which needs s-off.

No its sense, not GPe, see im the other way around, love sense and hate GPe and AOSP, yup for a full conversion to stock GPe you will need s-off and the only way to do that is by Sunshine, if you can pay then you'll have to live with s-on.
