I just rooted my gfs hero after asking her if I could for over a month
She is noticing that when she plugs her phone into the wall to charge it that it seems to be taking a lot longer...
We are both running cm6, I have decs #14 kernel and setcpu running, she has the cm6 kernel and no setcpu
Any ideas why hers is charging so slow? Starting to think I never should have rooted hers haha
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Try putting the kernel on hers and c how it works out also wen charging I always turn wifi off auto sync off and mobile data off my phone charges way faster vs on good luck
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
Honestly it could be the battery... but a slow charge is good fore the battery.. every once in a while ill run my battery all the down and usb charge it over night its good for it
So if it continually gets worse is not the rom its the battery.

do you think that - even if it didnt do this before i rooted her phone ?
Well if it didn't do it before then y not try the kernel and c how it works out

Your probably just thinking that its started after the root. Its like when you notice a new type of car on a commercial and then you start seeing them everywhere on the streets even though you think you never saw them before the commercial, but you really did you just didnt notice them.
Like I said leave it alone monitor it and if its really charging slower. I dont really see how a rom or kernel would affect charging rates, battery drain yes but not how fast it charges.
Well if the battery is draining at a faster rate will it not take a longer time to charge unless you have your phone off there are processes running in the background at all times not to mention the programs any one individual might have running on there phone hence forth if you have a better kernel to mange power consumption and CPU processes would this not make a difference in charge time correct me if I'm wrong

HEllo Im new here ,, this is a stupid question but I just wanna ask the optimal temp of smartphone because my s advance temp looks kinda hot specially the upper part of the phone ranging from 37 to 41 degrees celcious when opening aps and games,, this is definitely hotter than the first time i bought it,,
Its normal I think..
I mean its normal and OK until the phone actually stops responding and/or behaves abnormally.... And you will get a message/notification that it is overheated and will automatically turn off (or reboot) - I'm just guessing because I never saw it on my phone but I once saw it "partially" on my friend's S3 once...
One more thing... The phone usually heats up a bit while its charging.... The same thing applies when you are playing games or browsing the internet for a long time...
Sent from my SGSA... If my post(s) helped you in any way then please wish me Good Luck for my exams!

mmm.. yeah my phone does not exp. force shutdown or reboot yet so I think its fine for now ..
I google a little and i found out that overheating is one of the sign of battery problem..
Im a heavy user like Im using it almost everyday(playing games etc.) so Im suspecting it might be a hardware problem or maybe BAttery problem, and I hope it just a battery probem but my phone is just 7 months old, and phone battery should last a year or two, but considering my heavy use it might be.,, so Im gonna try to replace my battery Thank you anyway for your reply and good luck

Hmm.. its upto you, whether you want to change your battery or not... and yes too high temperature will reduce its overall "life".. but I still think both your phone and your current battery is ok because smartphones (usually the ones with more than one CPU) usually heat up a bit when it is used for a long time

YEs it maybe still on good condition, but in a 1 hour palytime at the temp. of 41 °C is very uncomfortable to me. this is like holding a child with a super high grade fever with your hands,, and it applys to all games i played.,
By the way may I ask what is your phone highest temp. during playing games??

Im using the app Du Battery Saver it has a notification that contains a battery temperature I think this is pretty much the phone temp itself. I used diiferent "thermo app thing" the result is pretty much the same so I think its accurate,,

Ok Thanks...
My current phone temperature is 32 degrees... I just used it to talk with my Dad..
So yeah I'm pretty sure if I play GTA VC now that temp will rise to +40 degrees...
On my P model the temerature never (i mean NEVER) rised beyond the level that it would feel uncomftable... I think your phone !might! be faulty but I'm not sure about it
Install a software to monitor the life and temp of the battery
Well, this is weird, I bought recently a i9000b guys, my old Galaxy Ace rusts in peace now... well, flashed it (took some long hours) and now i'm using CyanogenMod 10, but here's the probelm
It has been charging the entire night, then this morning I took it and went to take a breakfast, I've been chatting and stuff but it got laggy, so I decided to restart it (apparently with 72% of battery aprox), when i checked it again after the restart I saw 4% of battery. What? Is that possible? I must say that I haven't calibrated the battery, I tried to check if charging it with the phone off and had a very low battery level. What could it be? Battery Calibration? Rom? Kernel?
ROM: [ROM][LINARO][JDQ39E][22/05] **C-RoM Mix v22 *&* C-RoM v3** [ Stable & Fast... ] [
Kernel: Semaphore 2.9.0 (for i9000b)
Thanks
PS: I turned on again the phone and there was a 80%~ of battery
Do one thing might solve:
Switch off your phone
Rwmove battery
Press power button for 15-30 sec
Insert battery back and reboot
Let me know if it solves your issue

Done, let's see if doesn't happen again. Anyway, should I wipe the battery stats? I haven't yet...
I will be doing tests because it happened to me yesterday, I got a random shutdown and the battery was empty, so I'll be looking for that.
Any another solution is welcome, thanks anyway :good:

Happened again after 3h 25min of usage, battery fell from 46% to 0%
Can't it be the kernel?
(CM10.1)

Battery drain problems are usually kernel related, yeah. When I tried CM10.1 I noticed a hell of a lot of battery drain as well (then again, 3 year old 1500mAh battery, 3 year old SGS, can't expect miracles).
Try using any of the 4.2 kernels in the forums (Semaphore, Mackay, Devil, CyanCore). I've tried most of them (usually Semaphore) and they're all pretty good for getting that extra bit out.
Aonther option would be to switch rom. Some devs have made roms with pretty good battery life considering the extra ram consumption on JB.

Thanks, i'm on it, will change my rom to Mackay rom and kernel, sadly this kernels aren't usually updated, because I have a i9000b and there are not much kernels for this model. I'm going to install a Mackay kernel compiled for i9000b

No. Just wait some time, I think that battery needs to calibrate itself with charging. I tried CM11, in first it was awfull, after 2-3 charges it is becoming usable. But still CM10.2 and CM11 based ROMs are battery eaters. Try CM10.1.
Thanks very much for y quick answers ...i hope that it can to remedy the battery okey but i try too cm 10.1 ...thanks again :good:
Next time when you flash rom or even update to official firmware make sure your battery is always 100%, not 80, not 90 but 100%... I had problem with discalibrated battery cause i update from Ginger Bread to official Samsung Jelly Bean firmware and my battery gone crazy... Try charge-discharge couple of times as shut-down says... This problem could be a swollen battery too cause you say that your phone turns off when you are at 25-28%... To be sure that your battery isn't swollen, turn your phone off and make this steps:
step 1: Take the battery out of the phone.
step 2: Put it on a level (flat) surface.
step 3: Try spining the battery, if it spins freely than it's swollen, if it doesn't spin it's good and try this on the bouth sides of the battery.

Battery caliberation problem. caliberate using battery caliberation app or delete batterystats file
Discharge to 0%, full charge to 100%. And leave it some time (don't plug off your charger), maybe hour and more.
Type this in Terminal editor: cat /sys/kernel/abb-chargalg/eoc_status
And wait untill it says the real EOC reached.

if I help you, simpe just hit the thanks button.
i was having the same issue with Carbon 4.4.2 build 3, i did this:
*Uncharged the phone until 12-15%
*Rebooted phone 7% battery (every time i rebooted i losted 5% no matter what)
*Charged phone good 4 hours and then ran Battery Calibration APK (battery Calibration was showing 4120mha)
*Rebooted left phone alone 15 minutes ran Battery Calibration APK again (battery now was showing 4245mha)
*Ran greenify, hibernated almost all apps except whatsapp (bug with that was launching Player pro instead)
*Disconnected phone went to settings/performance changed:
Cpu Governor to :Abyssplug
Minimum CPU freq: 200mhz, Max: 800, set on boot.
I/O Scheduler: Deadline,set on boot.
Memory Managment: Zram to 10%, Allow purging of assets and KSM, also 16bit transparency.
i had 100% battery from 1am to 5am (whatsapp, fast for facebook, player pro, traffic racer, heavy wifi, screen never went off) at 4:35-40 i had 57% battery, to 5am i was having 55%, slept til 11am from that on i haven't used my cellphone too much but i have 35% current battery...for me its okay since i alway have a backup battery.
Pdt: i owe you the picture im in my office and don't have an usb cable with me.

Install this program and see what is causing the wakelock...
Also is always good to use greenify to hibernate applications.
PS: Both applications require root.
Best Regards.
thanks but that got me no where it still does the same thing
my charger makes a strange noise like a buzz
maybe its the charger or the battery it self
The charger always make scary sounds ...
The same cautious if phone is off?
still no solution for the problem, its strange the battery that he consumes over night
Well, probably depends also how old your mobile is... I mean, after 4 years the battery can have lost capacity. Mine also needs around that over night, with Wifi and all Syncs and pushes activated. But theres nothing to do in my case i reinstalled firmware several times, its just gets old. Dunno but i could imagine you have the same "problem"...
What rom are you using?
You should try to flash stock rom.
Find them here lg-phone-firmware.com
we need battery logs..
