Nandroid first! I am not responsible for nuclear war, the price of housing or your phone.
Please Read the whole of this post before asking a question, it may have already been answered
This started as a personal project to get my phone looking like the latest version of Google's OS as I knew it was a slim chace we would get the real thing, and because I wanted to learn a little more about how Android works. There was quite a lot of people showing interest in it, so I decided to post my work for everyone to use on thier Hero's. It has now transformed into somthing alot bigger than I ever expected. There is a lot of community work included in this theme, and I want to say thanks to a few people for thier contributions in either content or testing:
krispijn_s, Studjuice, Kullt, Calico5, LTourist, nmeuret, ximmox
Massive thanks to you all!
Screenshot Gallery
Screenshots are available at the gallery below:
http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/7794007/3/Android/Screenshots/Gingerbread Theme?h=ee6807
Installation steps:
Step 1: Download all four zip files, and put 'GingerFroyo-v2.2-signed' and your choice of keyboard on the root of your SDCard.
Step 2: Reboot to recovery and flash both updates (order doesn't matter)
Step 3: Boot up your phone and apply the XML file via "Settings > Cyanogen / Villain Settings > User Interface > Tweaks Extras > Select a theme > Gingerbread"
Step 4: Extract the files from 'GingerFroyo-Additional-Files' for dock icons and wallpaper to complete the look!
Confirmed working on the following Devices / ROMs
HTC Hero: CM6.1.0, FroydVillain 1.7.0 - 1.7.2, Elinux 2.2.1 Final Android Stock, Floyo 1.2.0 (you will need to flash his 'CM Untouched Theme' first!!)
HTC Magic: CM6.1.0
Droid Eris: Tazz Vanilla, FroShedYo.V8
Droid Incredible: CM6.1.0
Motorola Droid: CM6.1.0

Hey dude, I just made a metamorph for the Hero with these things resized (I used the HDPI versions in the SDK as source).
Here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9658192
Feel free to use em.
Ps. I haven't figured out the whole menu text colour thing either (prolly one of the xmls in drawable), so I kept the original menu_background.
Exactly what i was gonna do tomorrow! Looks like you beat md to it. If i work out how to change the text in the menu and the pulldown notification i'll let you know as your metamorph is alot.more flexible then my method. Feel free to us the bits for LP and keyboard in your post, if yours works on Froyd i will close my post and point it to yours, no sense in maintaing two versions!

I bought it yesterday and I'm very happy with it! Nice work, I hope you continue doing it better in newer versions. I have a question for you: It seems that during the process of installation it takes about 200 MB of space on SD card. Is it possible to erase it after installation? Or is it done automatically? In case of affirmative answer to first question...where can i found these files? You know, space on SD is a very valuable resource...
Thanks and keep doing it as well!
I bought it, too and I'm also quite happy very it.
I just have one little problem: the K9 Mail display of the number of unread mails is just white (on white? – see image) and not readable anymore. This was already the case in 1.0.

That "Tap on time/battery on status bar to see toggles!" looks brilliant.

Can anyone confirm if calling works with the fix?
I might try it out if it does
i wanna try also but without calls i cannot use it?
anyone tried patch?
Yes. With the fix posted, the calls indeed work. I have tried it and can confirm it.

Okay, I can also confirm that calling works.
This ROM is nice.
Quite fast.
Just one question.
Is there a way to replace the "usually" and "normal" settings tab, since I can imagine that the regular settings are more important than some settings then don't even work.

I can't get it to work. (But the default gray color is very nice )

r_i_x removed the fonts on rxtreme, you can download the defaultapps.zip at OP of rxtreme then flash by recovery inside aroma select fonts and the fonts will be installed. another way is to download font from play store.

Hi my xda'ler.
I just thought i share my carefully Holo.Light themed Applications from my daily Rom ---> OmniRom.
Why i did that?
Because having this ugly dark stock Settings.apk and this Dark DeskClock.apk offended my eyes and taste.
I tried just change some parts. So there shouldnt be Textcolorbugs. Atleast, i could not find some yet.
I tried to use color codes who fit the rest of the already light themed Android System (for example, Downloads, Contacts, Quickoffice)
The result will be a more harmonious Android KitKat / OmiRom experience
Code:
framework-res.apk
- no gradient Holo/Holo.Light background
- Holo.Dark background: #ff5d5d5d
- Holo.Light background: #ffededed
- changed ic_print.png & ic_print_error.png (necessary, because Settings.apk takes this .png for Settings menu
Settings.apk
- Holo.Light (this includes also Holo.Light Actionbar!!)
- dark photoshoped Settings Icons
DSPManager.apk
- Holo.Light (Holo.Light Actionbar included)
DeskClock.apk
- Light themed Clock (#ffededed)
- fitted icons (dark)
Code:
i also added [U]new notification sounds[/U] in the flashable.zip
- system/media
- [B][I]delete fromn the flashable.zip, if you not wanne have that!!!![/I][/B]
flashable.zip for recovery
if you wanne try out, do it at your own risk. i assume you know what you do!!! (having backups is good, whatever you do)
As we not yet have a theme engine, this is my way to have a more harmonious KitKat System.
I recommend using tintedstatusbar module/Xposed.
You also can grab a single app from the flashable.zip and replace on the right position in your system, whatever, do what you want....have fun!!!
you can think about light themes what you want, but without a doubt....its better readable under the sun

Code:

sorry, i dont know what happen there, or what you did.
i flashed that zip on different nightlies of omnirom, and it works very well for me. if you use official omnirom 4.4.2 nightilies...whatever day, 18.05. or 20.05, it should work.maybe you use different custom rom?
alternetavely you can move apps manually to the right direction.
edit:
- tried it with newest nightly from 21.05.
- dirty flashed nightly, gapps, flashable.zip
- everything fine after reboot
