UCCW and Notif help - Android Themes

I understand the basics of UCCW and how to create hotspots and such, but I need help with this idea. I'm trying to see if it's possible to access the notes I take by voice using Notif Pro and display them on screen using UCCW, either by actually showing the note or at best showing me how many notes I have in that specific voice folder. Any help would be appreciated, especially clear and understandable instructions

I guess this is not possible or noone knows how to do it?

Noob questions around customization and apps

So I am a Newbie in regards to customizing Anroid - but not regarding Terminal usage, rooting, hacking iphone and WinMo - but i need some easy answers as it seems that answers to my questions are buried too deep; so here goes:
1. Does anyone have any detail or tutorials on alternate launchers? Specifically, what can I do other then change the number of screens? Can I change color schemes (away from Touchwiz)? If so, do these color changes flow into the Touchwiz apps like eMail and Calendar?
2. Email and Calendar seem so customized compared to other Android versions. Touchwiz has some neat features, but Moto has nicer email and calendar. Can the email and calendar apps be replaced? I don't mean adding a widget, I mean different version of the app? One example - I can't click to dial a phone number in the Captivate calendar (either in location, subject or body). Exchange email sync, does sync subfolders, but not option to move emails to other folders. Do I have to wait for new ROMs?
3. Rooting - if I root, what can i do? i know I can change the sideload setting, but what else? Any good links in regards to what root will let me do?
4. How do you delete panels? I see reference to this, i assume this is a benefit to rooting.
5. Custom ROM - when we get this option, how do you back up your old ROM? If you need to return the phone, or reflash to factory, there must be a way, right?
If anyone has links, I like to read as much detail as I can get.
Thanks for any help.
LauncherPro is definitely worth checking out. Lots of customization with home screens and launcher icons and even the app drawer.

1. Download as many free launchers you can find (HelixLauncher, LauncherPro, ADW Launcher, etc)
2. I think you have to wait for new ROMs.
3. Root gives you access to certain applications not available and certain permissions...I'm kinda new at this so I'm probably wrong.
4.Press the left most icon, then press EDIT.
5. I think there is a way to save your ROM states
@li1on - thanks for the replies - especially number 4! something really simple i missed. I guess i have NOT played with every menu yet.
guess this thread is done
Viewing Angles of Different Launchers
Hello my friend I just wanted to clear you up on the launcher area.
My personal favorite launcher is GO Launcher, Zeam and another one called Nemus.. I Really Really LOVE Nemus (search it through the Market) only bad thing is whenever I was.. lets say on Facebook or Google+ and I hit the home button the launcher would take a couple of seconds to re-establish the home image with your short-cuts and folders, for me it just semmed like it was slow and glitching a some points. Although nemus launcher is fairly a new launcher to hit the market the current released version (0.9.7 updated on july 6,2011 Size: 0.90MB) I see great things coming from this developer! This launcher gives you great organization funtions but until the developer fixes his bugs in his software, I am going to stick with GO Launcher, do to Ease and how fast it is and it supports themes and custom widgets. Btw quick tip* Zeam Launcher is the fastest launcher out there. Original source [via Lifehacker]
Below are different description viewing angles of launchers for android. Most of the info is repeated but greatly do i admire the opinions of others feedback.

[APP] Lockscreen Text - [R-2010-12-28] - [V-1.0]

Name: Lockscreen Text
Lockscreen Text is an easy to use application that allows you to write a message on your lockscreen wallpaper. Although this is possible using an image editing application on your computer, you may not have a computer with you at all times. Lockscreen Text allows you to add text to your wallpaper, wherever you are. There are many reasons why you may want text on your phone.
If you have a password on your phone, and you lose it, a person who finds it won’t be able to see what number to call back on. With Lockscreen Text, you could display a contact number to call.
Lockscreen Text can also help in day to day activities. For example, you need to remember to get milk on your way home. You could add this to a ‘To-Do’ list type app, but you have to remember to check that app. What if you forget to run the ‘To-Do’ list app in the first place? With Lockscreen Text, ‘Remember the Milk’ is clearly visible on your lockscreen wallpaper, so you’ll see it everytimeyou pick up your phone. Of course, you can enter your entire shopping list in an app, and simply have “Check Shopping List” on your wallpaper. No more forgetting to do things!
Or, you could also display the contact number to call in case of an emergency. We have listened to customer feedback regarding ICE Alert and decided that Lockscreen Text would be a great way to let people know that if you have the ICE Alert app on your phone and that they can run it to see your medical information and emergency contacts. This way, the first responder will know where to get your important information from.

That looks quite helpful but the way I understand it is that you have to create each time a new "wallpaper" if you want to put in a new text.
If so isn't there any simple way to just fire up the app write something (without much hassle) and let it be displayed directly on the current wallpaper?

Hi,
Unfortunately, developer's don't have access to the lock screen at the moment, so it's not possible to get the current wallpaper. However, I'm keeping a close eye on any SDK updates to see if I can make the process even more efficient.
Good luck with that!
Keep up the good work then.

[Q] What is the path for widgets?

Hey.
I'm not sure how to find the location for widgets, basically I'd like to change it so when you click on the stock 2x3 calender widget, it opens Cal instead of the normal calendar.
I'm assuming you're trying to make a module yourself. If not, then this is the wrong section — please check the stickies for more info.
Anyway, widgets are normal apps so you'd hook their methods the usual way. If that's not what you're asking, please provide more info.

S8 google search widget [Zooper]

I didn't like the offerings for the s8 widget available on the play store. So I pieced this together. It isn't 100% true to the original, but the mic icon works. And the g icon pulls up the Google app. I would like to actually type the search in the search box and then it go to the Google app, but not sure how to do that. I'm welcome to all criticism and suggestions.
This is my first foray into Zooper widgets so please bare with me as I think I may have not uploaded this correctly. With that said, if someone would like to make this into an apk for easier installation, please do, and send it to me so I can upload it, credit will be given. It did all this from my phone and don't have access to a PC.
PS: I'm only uploading the template
Here is the Zooper folder with the resources if it's needed for anyone who would like to mess with it

Tasker and Ring Security System

Curious if someone could help me figure out how to automate my Ring alarm system. I am very familiar with Tasker but so far have been unable to figure it out. The application doesn't include a widget so there's no simple way to change the modes (home, away, disarm). Trying to create a simple task to change the modes. Guessing i need to find the intents for the application and try running them via tasker? Not sure how to locate the info though. Any help would be appreciated.

If SimpleCommands would add Tasker support this could easily be done.
