Hi Guys, need some help/ advice if possible.
Finally got around to setting up the phone. Came with android version 4.04 (ICS).
When I downloaded iplayer it wants BBC media player to be installed.
Once that downloads says "error, package file is invalid".
Iplayer therefore doesn't work.
Read somewhere on xda that should work on Jelly bean? Mod apk listed for download on the site.
Has anyone got iplayer it to work on ICS?
Is there any disadvantage of upgrading to JB? Read on previous remarks, poorer battery life? Cannot move files to SD via app2sd ?
PS: Storage says 5.26 GB. Thought it had 8GB storage? Sos, might be a dumb quest but wheres the rest of it gone? Is it for the system? Does JB take more int memory?
Cheers for any advice/ help. Most appreciated.

Hi,
I'm comletley new to all the Android stuff (I was using iOS till the last week ).
I'm trying to figure out a few things and hope you don't mind a few newbie questions.
I got an LG GT540 (SIMFREE), it comes with 1.6 firmware. My questions are:
1. Does upgrading to 2.1 or 2.2 affecting the performence? (since the hardware isn't such as strong.)
2. The device came with a few applications bundled on the system which I don't need them, is there a way to remove them? how?
3. How do I install an application on the memory card rather the internal memory?
Thank you in advance,
David

1. There is no 2.2 for the gt540. 2.1 improves performance.
2. Its hard to remove stock apps, so i would leave them for now.
3. You will need to look for a tutorial for App2SD for gt540
Hope this helps!
And welcome to XDA!
I just saw on another post you wrote that
There is the carphone warehouse 2.1 update out.

Please see teh first thread in this forum it has links to many relevant articles that you might want to read...
I couldn't get all what you mean but here goes it...
To keep your phone memory empty you can move apps to sd-card...Learn more at http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/09/how-to-install-applications-to-sd-card.html
If you are looking for Samsung Firmwares latest is 2.3.5 (not Official for all regions). There are many custom roms (not by sasmung) available to install and most of them are based on GB 2.3.4 (so they are also like latest). Please find more info in their threads in Development section of Galaxy Mini forum.
Updating will remove all your apps, settings, data, etc. and install a new firmware. So, it is a most to do a backup of your apps, contacts and other data first. You data on sd-card will be safe.

man
i upgraded my phone using 1 file method
i sucessfully updated it
now theres a problem
im unable to root my phone by superoneclick
plz help me
Nothing offensive but that's why noobs shouldn't root their phones.
What android version do you have btw?
If it's 2.3.4 you could try yagya's tutorial on his site: yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-popmini.html
If it's lower, you should consider flashing 2.3.4.

Hi all
Apologies for the noob style question, I'm sure the answer to my quesiton is on here somewhere however being a noob to the forum and rooted/flashed handsets combined I'm really struggling to get my head around it all.
I very recently bought a Note pre-owned on a certain well known AV forum and the seller had installed Jellybean on it. At first i thought that would be awesome but it's quite buggy and I would like to be able to get some of the stock software/hardware usability back like S-pen apps and the ability to connect to the phone as an external HDD for file transfer etc.
For ref. its running CyanogenMod version 10-20120820-unofficial-n7000, I simply want to revert the phone back to stock, straight-out-the-box software with all the usual S pen apps etc etc assumedly running ICS...how on Earth do I do this?
Flash any gingerbread rom stock i mean.use pc odin to flash.download d file and put it in pda tab.den flash it buddy.
Hit thanks button please

Hi All,
Ive dug out my old tab in the hope of turning it into a remote music player. I cannot use the play store anymore to install apps etc.
I would really like to go back to the stock ROM - but all the older links in here are either dead, or are a download site that wants me to install spyware apps to help me download the ROM.
If someone can link me to the original stock rom that actually works, i would be much appreciated.
Eric,
If i dont answer till the morning, im sorry
