I am not responsible for anything that happens to you and/or your device. There is no serious risk involved with installing these keyboards but I have to say it.
DO NOT Post the links or keyboards from this page on ANY other site or thread without my permission!! You can post a link to this thread but DO NOT repost my links!
Please don't use any of my keyboards in your ROM, theme, Xposed Mod, ect. without my permission. Just PM me if you want to use one. I haven't said no to anyone yet.
Introduction
Welcome to ShaftamleKeyboards! This thread was created on August 1 ,2013, initially with 7 keyboards. Since then, Shaftamle Keyboards has been featured on The XDA-Portal, The Android Soul, Techtricks and many others! The total number of keyboards has grown to over 140 different options! In less than one year the thread reached a quarter of a million views with total downloads well over 5,000!! This is possible thanks to all you amazing supporters and contributors!
You use your Google Keyboard every day, so why not make it Shaftamle!!
About
Shaftamle Keyboards is a very different type of thread. Keyboards are being added all the time. Users can submit their work to share with the rest of the Android world. User request sessions are held occasionally to give you all the chance to throw your idea out there! But the 3 things in my eyes that are most important are as follows:
Root or no root, it makes no difference. Just install the app as normal.
All phones and tablets using mdpi, hdpi, xhdpi, xxhdpi and xxxhdpi are supported! Which means anything relatively new will work!!
This is an EXTREMLY begginer(noob) friendly thread. If you have a problem/question, ask away. I try to answer any and all questions.
It's because of all these reasons and more that this is the biggest and best place on the internet for Themed Google Keyboards!!

Installation Requirements
There are a few things you need to know before installing these keyboards. Please read the following before installing:
You must be on Android 4.0 or higher. It is a requirment of Google Keyboard.
Your device must be either mdpi, hdpi, xhdpi, xxhdpi or xxxhdpi. ldpi is not supported.
You must UNINSTALL any exsisting Google, Android or AOSP keyboard first.
If your phone comes with Google Keyboard pre-installed(IE: Nexus, Moto X, Droid Ultra ect.) you must completely uninstall it for Shaftamle Keyboards to work. These types of phones have the Google keyboard installed as a system app. So without root you can't uninstall them. Unfortunately this means, these keyboards may not work on these types of non-rooted devices, sorry! If your not sure if this applies to you, go ahead and try, the worst that will happen is the install will fail.
Installation Instructions
Download APK(app) to your phone. Your browser may warn you about the download, that is a default warning that occurs anytime you download an app file from another source other than the play store.
Uninstall any existing Google/Android/AOSP keyboard using the Application manager(non-root) or Titanium Backup(root).
[*]Reboot your device.
Click on the downloaded APK(app) and follow the prompts to install.
When installation is complete, click the "open" button on the bottom right of the completion screen. This starts the 3 step setup wizard for enabling the keyboard, making it the default and setting up any additional languages.
Go to Keyboard Settings > Apearence & Layouts >Theme. Select Holo White unless otherwise noted in download section.
DONE! Enjoy your Shaftamle Google Keyboard!!

Make Your Own Zip
Maintaining all of these keyboards has become a pretty big task. It is this reason that I have discontinued the Zip format. Making zip files for each release requires twice the work that just doing apk's does. Since our non- recovery users are only able to use apk's, that is my file format of choice. However, since this is XDA and my primary goal is to give back as much as possible, I have come up with a solution. If you are a die hard flasher and really want Shaftamle zips, follow this extremely easy 5 step tutorial on how to make your own!! Knowledge is Power!!
This tutorial is for Windows Users
1) Download and install 7zip. (Win RAR and others similar are fine as well)
2) Download the Shaftamle Zip Template from below.
3) Take whatever Shaftamle keyboard you would like and rename it exactly as follows: com.google.android.inputmethod.latin-1
4) Right click on the downloaded Shaftamle template zip and select: 7zip -> Open Archive. DO NOT UNZIP OR EXTRACT!!
5) In the open 7zip window, double click the "data" folder, then double click the "app" folder. Now, drag the renamed Shaftamle keyboard into that folder and click "ok" on the popup message, overwriting the stock keyboard thats already in there.
Congratulations! You have built your own Shaftamle Zip file! Now go flash that bad boy!!

Known Bugs
Shaftamle Keyboards will force close if the "Personalized Suggestions" option is enabled in the keyboard settings. This is a limitation caused by a June 2016 Goggle Play Service update. There is nothing I can do to fix it, sorry.
Troubleshooting
Unthemed/Distorted Keyboards: Occasionally, keyboards may seem unthemed or distorted when using other apps or mods that further theme your phone. Things like CM theme changer, exposed or flashable themes sometimes incorporate keyboard themes which can affect Shaftamle Keyboards. (see posts #9 and #10).
Swype not working/Buttons sticking after install: Simply reinstall the keyboard.
Advanced Trouble Shooting
If you are experiencing extensive lag, force closes or the app fails to install, don't panic!! Sometimes this happens. Why? Nobody is really sure. However, the steps below fix the issue 99.9% of the time. So, if you ALREADY tried to UNINSTALL as the instalation directions state, then click the button below for further troubleshooting instructions.
You MUST be rooted to perform these steps. You also must have a Root File Browser. ES File Manager is free and works great.
1) UNINSTALL ALL Google, Android, AOSP and Shaftamle keyboards. Titanium Backup or ROM Toolbox works great for this.
2) Open your root browser. Search through the following folders:
/data/app/
/system/app/
look for the following files and delete them: com.google.android.inputmethod.latin-1 OR
LatinIME.
Now, search through these folders:
/data/app-lib/
/system/lib/
For anything named:
com.android.inputmethod.latin-1
OR
libjni_unbundled_latinimegoogle.so
And delete them as well.
3) Reboot your device.
4) Now that you have deleted any leftover duplicates you should not have any problems installing Shaftamle Keyboards, so give it a shot!

User Requests​Round #1 is over. Accepted requests are posted below.​Please keep in mind, this IS NOT my job. Please be respectful and understand that this is a hobby. Regretfully, it will not be possible for me to fulfill all requests. Please be understanding of that. If this gets out of hand, I will simply stop doing requests all together.

If you would like to submit a request, please feel free AFTER reading the following rules:
1)Do Not make a request more than once.
2)Do Not PM me a request.
3)Do Not ask me to rebuild or copy anyone else's work.
4)Do Not ask for ETA's.
5)Do Not ask for physical changes to the keyboard such as moving the punctuation, making the keys bigger/smaller, adding symbols or anything that is outside the scope of theme modification.
6)Please show some effort in your request. Details are always good. If you would like a specific color, post the hex color code. Dont be the person who says, "Hi, can you do a teal one. Thanks." You WILL be ignored.

8/10/2014:After an overwhelming amount of requests. I present to you, the first Shafta-L Series keyboard, Shafta-L-SlateNavy! Based on the official Android L keyboard from the Developer Preview. This is number 1 of a few that i will be creating in the coming days. I really wanted to keep this thread to Playstore versions only. But "L" is "in" and green is ugly, so here I am! And yes, NUMBER ROW INCLUDED!

Available in AppleSauceStandard(Grey shift keys) and AppleSauseLight(White shift keys)!
Black, ICS and Red are your color choices, and yes, all are available in 123 series format as well!!
They are not exactly like BlahBlah but its the closest this thread will get. Not cause I can't, cause I WON'T!
On the bright side, AT LEAST YOU CAN SWYPE TYPE ON YOURS!!
Attention: If you are having trouble seeing the non-bold font on the keyboard, have no fear!
If your using "English(United States)" as your language Go to:
KeyboardSetting->AdvancedOptions->FontOptions
There you can select Normal or Bold!!
If you're using other languages, it will still show up as "color scheme." That was a mistake on my part.
HOWEVER, even if your phone shows color scheme instead of font options, the feature WILL STILL WORK.
White=Normal Font
Blue=Bold Font
Please keep in mind that using non-system font may prevent this from working. Some fonts are not available in bold.

2/24/2014: Introducing Shaftamle Keyboards 5.1!! All keyboards now have themed setup wizards! All keyboards now have matching themed Emoji layouts!! All Red keyboard popup shadows have been fixed. Most notably, ShaftaStoneSquared has been redesigned and is looking pretty good! It comes with its counterpart, ShaftaStoneSquaredLight, which has a slightly brighter backround! 5.1 WILL install right over top of 5.0. However I recomend doing a clean install on the first one. (Only because the setup wizard is themed! Nice! ) And as always, NEVER buy an iPhone, ALWAYS hit the "Thanks" button and most importantly, Enjoy!!

User Submits
User Submits​Over the course of the last couple months, I've had few users ask if I would post their work on my thread. I figured, why not? I have a lot of keyboards up already, why not help others show their skills without having to create their own thread. With that, Shaftamle User Submits is born!
Please note, these keyboards will work the same as my 6.0 version. They will install right over any other 6.0 version of mine. I have tested them to ensure they work with no issues. Also, that they will also work on the same resolution phones that mine support, which is almost all of them(no ldpi, ICS and up). I did not make these keyboards nor will I include them in my updates on the main thread. They are the creations of fellow users(Please thank them), I am simply hosting them on my thread. Hopefully to give the keyboards more exposure and you faithful, Amazing users, a couple more Shaftamle options!
If you would like to submit a keyboard that you have made, please follow the following Rules and Guidelines:
Google Keyboards ONLY!
Themeing ONLY! No moving of buttons, symbols, adding features, ect.
Your keyboard MUST be optimize for mdpi, hdpi, xdpi and xxhdpi.
It must work and function properly. If it does not, I will let you know. Its up to you to fix it and resubmit it. Otherwise it will not be posted. Sorry!
If you meet those requirements, feel free to PM me a link to the apk. Also, include the name of your design. After I test it, I will gladly add it to the thread! I reserve the right to post or reject any submitted keyboard at my discretion. Lastly, if you like one of the user submitted keyboards, please make sure to thank the xda-member who did the work!
Please keep in mind, these are 6.0 based keyboards. You must uninstall any 7.0 keyboard before you install these. They have not been updated yet. Enjoy!​

Thanks. Still on stock rooted odex and have been trying to black out as much as possible. Onyx looks great! You have to uninstall the market version first or it fails, just as stated.

Never saw that before... Did you have the Google keyboard installed prior to installing the apk? Are you using any other theme item that had previously themed your original keyboard? Sometimes if you have a themed ROM, theme engine theme or anything similar they take pressedence over a themed app. It looks like there is some conflict because your return key is orange, which is normally gray.

Yeah I have a custom theme currently. I'll change it and see what happens. And no I didn't have the keyboard installed prior.

Is there a way to remove these keyboards? I got some weird Japanese IME now on mine.. I just wanna remove this all together... Thanks! BTW. I I tried installing the BlackOnyx.zip version with no luck.

Uninstall like any other app. You can change the ime through the keyboard settings, First option. What happened when you flashed the zip? Did it fail or just not show up? If it didn't show up, try enabling it in the language and input settings.

so im new to the whole developing thing but i did make a tweaked version of frost using various parts of other themes that works with the aosp magic rom. if anyone wants to try it out let me know. i will be sure to give credit where its due once i compile a list of all the people involved in making the orginals.i will also add that the only actual editing of any sort that i did was of the services.jar to make the foont on the notifications bar white instead of black.

Don't include setCPU. The developer has asked for it not to be distributed in roms and/or themes.

I downloaded the theme and like it alot. A couple of suggestions to make it better though:
-When downloading apps the font is black on gray and is really hard to read, if it was white it would be much better
-I'd love to see the stock lockscreen thrown in the ROM if possible
-The green font is kind of neat in the menus but, having the green text entry box limits your theming options

I will take a look at these things and see if I can make those changes. Probably won't be until tomorrows though. Kinda busy...

This makes the AOSP look fantastic!
Three issues:
- The bold seems to be forced to non-bold, as an app I have which normally lists unread in bold and read in non-bold, which now lists ALL entries in non-bold, now.
- The green subtext in settings is tough to read and detracts from the larger white titles, as they are now non-bold. A grey would be better served instead of green, and re-bold the text.
- The download notification text is black and is nearly hidden. Making it white or light grey is best, here.
Thanks for making the AOSP ROM look less like a 1994 era HTML page and more like a modern UI

This is especially annoying in Gmail since new emails are shown in bold. Also the stock lockscreen can be found over in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793479&highlight=deodex. It works fine since ASOP magic is already deodexed.

it is more than likely the font that i have installed im going to start taking a look at all these other things right now. probably have an update and/or another zip for the stock font tonight. thanks for all the input btw. considering this is my first attempt at anything im glad to see that for the most part it is liked.

I have a flashable zip i made for someone a while back with just the stock font if you want to use it in the meantime. It will give you back bold.

Frost with bold and no extra apps
I love this Frost theme, but hated losing bold and had no use for the added apps included, so I made a stripped down version with bold support.
Contains:
FONT: Zegoe (Light and normal) font -- so bold is less bold and normal is really light, taking up less pixel space per character
No extra apps
Original Frost theming changes
Simply flash through recovery as always

The rom were updated 1/3/2010.
*This rom will be a combination of Speed, Beauty, and Stability. This rom is based around the idea of enjoy a custom sense user interface based on Carbon Espresso and other themes in the rom.

Issues:
When in a call the dialer touch pad does not work. (Such as if you are calling 611) and needing to enter your telephone number.
Fix: Go into Settings/Sound/ and set audible touch sounds to long. (Thanks to Nils for this.)
Internal Storage does not mount.

Work out some more theming in general, and work out the problem with internal storage.
Change Log for Version 4.0:
1. Now using Ziggy's latest kernal again. (WiFi Confirmed Working)
2. Optimized the rom a bit more over all other rom versions removed many unneeded png files. The rom is still loaded but quite a bit lighter in 4.0.
3. Added Quick Office along with the many other apps from 3.1.

How to Apply Other Themes: Download any theme from the link below then put the APK into the data/apps folder with root explorer. To get the the theme to apply though the skins app in the menu. It will relaunch rosie and will appear with a themed clock, widgets, rosie, lockscreen, and other things.

These icons are for use with a program like folder organizer. You can read tutorials online somewhere as to how they need to be applied. I made the very basic for this so far I will take requests as well. There will eventually be a MM for all of the icons. They will only change the ones on your desktop but not in the menu. So enjoy. First impression is "Wow" Very smooth. Trying to get used to the Z Roms. I miss the power control in the pull down, but I like the skin option, and especially the carbon skin.,
I do like the recent apps in the pull down, but when using the power control widget, it of course isn't themed to match the carbon rosie. Just a small pet peeve of mine, but I am not smart enough to fix it!
I wish someone could figure out how to mod the Rosie for these Z Roms.

Well mate I did not mean it that way at all. Correction I am working with Wes. LOL!

Now with fixes I will work on that and look into that. I will get those things rolling as soon as possible but they do take time. Therefore enjoy the rom in the mean time. I think most would agree not only is the Z rom serious eye candy but it is optimized for speed. IncDoes did an amazing job with the port. With the cooked in kernal from Chad you can get quadrant speeds of 1700-1775 or so from our tests. So you be the judge.

Read all the post and had to try out. So for so good. Was sluggish on first start-up but after restart is nice and fast. Nice job.

I am glad you are enjoying the rom mate. They will only continue to get better from this point on. I am sorry it was sluggish at first. I tested a few times flashing and did not experience that at all. I will monitor the thread and see if that continues to be an issue for other users.

I think it was that I was setting up all my accounts and updating programs. I really like your Rom and it will be on my inc for awhile.

Are you tired of that ugly gray swype? Ugh, so was I. Wish you could add a pop of color to it? Well look no further. I present to you my Sweet! Swypes. Featuring every color of the rainbow with some in varying shades. Sure to be a favorite amongst guys and gals. I will start producing different styles of keyboards of and then updating with my selected shades. All other shades will be by request. I made these for personal use but there's no harm in sharing ;-)
*As of right now, noone has been able to theme the swype trace for the beta version. Once it is possible, every package will be updated with its respective trail color.
Requirements for Themes
*You Must be Perm-rooted.
*You must have Swype Beta installed and the included Swype Installer. (swype.com)
*Have Metamorph installed (https://market.android.com/details?id=stericson.xda.metamorph)
*Have ZipSigner2 installed (https://market.android.com/details?id=kellinwood.zipsigner2)
*Es File Explorer installed (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop) or Root Explorer (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer)

Directions To Apply
*Open up your chosen file explorer. Navigate to \data\app\ and locate the com.swype.android.inputmethod-1.apk ( If you choose to use Es you will have to go into Settings>Tick Root Explorer Box)
*Copy the Swype apk to the root of your sdcard. (The theme will only take if the apk is in the root.)
*Go to Metamorph and select "Unzip/Extract New Theme"
*Navigate to wherever you downloaded your chosen theme to. (If you downloaded from the Xda App, it will be located in /sdcard/tapatalk_download/ I have Xda Premium and this is where mine is located)
*You will be presented with a preview and you may now choose "Apply All". Congrats! You have themed your Swype. Now onto signing and install!
*You Must sign the zip or else you will get constant force closes. Thats where ZipSigner2 helps. So let's open that up.
*Push the "Choose In/Out" button at the top and find the com.swype.android.inputmethod-1.apk in the root of your sd card.
*Your output should now read /sdcard/com.swype.android.inputmethod-1-signed.apk
*Leave the key mode on "auto-testkey" and Sign The File.
*Before going further, you should make a backup of your data with Titanium Backup or your preserver program of choice. This will collect your personal dictionary for late use. Now uninstall Swype (not the Installer, This step is not mandatory but is recommended to prevent any errors so just do it : ) )
*Using your file explorer, now install the signed swype. (There will be two on your sdcard. The themed one and the themed signed one. Make sure you install the one with "-signed.apk" at the end. If you choose the other one, you WILL get force closes)
*Go to the "Swype Installer" program and activate and choose swype.
*The final and most CRUCIALLLLLLLL step of them all.......ENJOY!
Requests & FormatsI would like to help other people get a swype that they feel is custom to their wants. I am by NO MEANS a graphic deisgner. I just edit existing images. I dont use Photoshop or Corel therefore I do not promise a "professional looking" result. I will however try my best. I can theme swype multicolor as well. Refer to the following rough draft image to see the different aspects that may be themed. (I know its a bit jarringly bright but i was working on a girly theme when i uploaded it). If you do submit a request, please list the five colors and their corresponding titles. All requests are not guaranteed to be completed but I do promise to try. Until then, enjoy the unicolor ones above.

I did earlier. Kept fcing from the second I installed it. My phone kept lagging and responding stupid. Disabled it and deleted it. I like the regular input keyboard tho. So oh well. These look good tho.

Obviously I can read that this is posted on the bionic forums but that shouldn't change altering the app. I am on inc 2 but have tried this step by step several times but it does not theme it, goes thru all the steps tho. Any thoughts?

I have at the moment no time, so there are no updates and the themes are not in the playstor.
And it is not in the playstor because I have at the moment no idear how to do it, but I want to do it, if time and mony I will do it.

I habe maked som themes for GYF Launcher at the moment there is a bug for themes, but I think the developer will fix it quickly. Bug is fixed in the newest verion of GYF launcher
But I want to show you my themes.
At the moment I cant change the color for the headers, but the developer will chang it.
The themes are open source so you can make our selv themes.
I´m open for themes ideas.

Great app. Any chance you would consider making a shortcut activity for showing the sidebar? This would allow users to use the app in conjuction with another tool like lmt or GMT. This would set your app apart from the competition.
