Hi,
I know there are questions around how to identify whether my device is rooted, unfortunately have still been unable to determine, mainly because the language of the phone is Taiwanese. I want to install stock HTC One version (English) and have tried various steps to do it.
Have tried the following using help from Google, would appreciate if someone can help me.
1. I bought the phone second hand, the person told me it is a Chinese version however when i searched through forums - it says the chinese version has dual sim. The one i am holding is single sim (micro) , so don't think it is Chinese. The closest i thought would be Taiwanese model.
2. The phone does not have blinkfeed or any of the other features offered by HTC Sense. I tried to go to settings, saw what the original screens look like from web, and i think i don't have the stock HTC One Android version (Just a hunch)
The About phone section shows the following:
Model Number:
HTC_One
Android Version
4.2.1
Kernel Version 3.4.5
[email protected]
3. On searching forums, i found that i can unboot by downloading the correct ROM.
To download it, i needed CID and Model Number. The model number HTC_One did not have any match. For CID, i booted the phone in bootloader mode (power + Volume down). Now, that started the phone in different language (Taiwanese / Chinese - Not sure).
I was not able to understand anything, just scrolled to the last option and pressed the power off button. Next time, it did boot with normal mode so that helped.
Now, i am still clueless as to what to do. I just want either HTC One original factory ROM or Google Play ROM in English on my phone.
Can anyone help me? Probably the best way is to first be sure whether my phone is actually rooted or am i just overanalyzing.
Im sorry to say but thats a fake. you have the same kernel version as the one posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257077

Hi all, im new to android and i recently purchased a samsung galaxy S. i come from htc windows mobile and i need help understanding the different components of ROM in the galaxy S/android.
right now i have
PDA: I9000XXJF3
Phone: I9000XXJF3
CSC: I9000XAJF3
basically, i dont really understand what are those things. Im assuming phone=modem/radio, and pda=ROM revision.
1.what is CSC?
when i downloaded a new ROM from samsung-firmware, there is only one file in it, which is PDA.
2.do i need all 3 components to ensure the phone is usable after flash?
3.can i mix and match any phone and csc file from different ROMs?
4.im trying to get my phone to work in china, is there any region specific PHONE or CSC file that i should use, or can i just use any Europian files and they will work automatically in china?
5.is there some kind of HSPL thing in android phones i need to take care of before flashing so i wont brick my phone?
i find them really complicated, in htc windows mobile phones, there are only 2 things to consider and they are straight forward. Radio ROM is what it is, Radio. and there is the ROM version, which is straight forward as well. and they can be mixed and matched as long as the phone model is the same. no region problems. can someone help me to understand this from a windows mobile user perspective please? thank you.
Hi
I'm newbee too - and it seems that we are on our own, since nobody here answers Q unless the Q is top dollar relevant :-(
I've f/w updated my Galaxy S Gt-i9000 twice.
I did it PRECISELY as described in the "how-to-doc" that U-ll find on Samsung-firmware. And YES; they say use PDA if there's only one file.
What I did, was looking carefully at the printed screens in the how-to-guide.
CSC: Language-something.
PDA: ...?
After fW update I "reset-to-factory". Don't know if thats needed. Maybe it resets original fw? Does it load settings/fw from ROOT.... Don't know; but would like to know if somebody would be so kind.
Kindly (but...)
I think the reason for no answers is that they have already been answered in the forum.
Frezore is right. Questions like that stay unanswered because they have been asked 100 times before. I'll make an faq thread tomorrow morning.
Basically:
CSC is country specific code. It's some app as well as settings for 3G network providers and things like that. However, as of now only russian and region independent CSCs are available with the newer ROMs. In order to get internet on your phone in china you'll have to enter the APN manually. Info like that varies per provider and its easily found using google.
The phone file is what you would call the radio rom.
The PDA is the ROM. The software/firmware. It include android and all the apps that get installed along with it like samsungs touchwiz and swype.
It is preferable to update all three at the same time, however, not always necessary. An outdated modem (phone) firmware might result in compatibility issues (although very unlikely) and old CSCs can cause problems if the apps are outdated or apn settings are wrong.
However, CSCs, phone and pda files ate always distributed in complete packages so there really isn't abig deal.
There is no such thing as HSPL. Firmwares on samsung phones are installed using Odin (samsung-firmwares.com).
If you factory reset (just like on the wimo phones) you'll revert to the original settings of the rom/firmware you currently have installed. To get your phone completely back to factory settings you'll have to flash the factory rom that came with your device.
FAQ thread tomorrow.

Terminal mode? It's a kind of Linux. Just download and install terminal software, there are plenty of them on Market.
Dear all
I write this post as I hope to get some input and some expert suggestions on the course of action I should take with my phone.
For many years I have been supplied with a phone through my company but it seems to be always the crappy old Nokia. Good for making telephone calls but worthless for anything else.
So recently I bought a Galaxy S on a business trip to China. I love the phone, it works and by now I have almost no Chinese letters and applications left anymore. This is really something else; I'll never go back to the company Nokia. Never!
I think most of the applications are working and I have access to the Android Marked. However, Youtube is not installed or working and I think that the GPS is a little off.
Now I read a lot about Froyo and I bet I would want to get that on my phone, I am also pretty sure that I want to get the phone totally de-Chinese and preferably into something Danish or at least English.
What do I do next?
I have been reading so much on this site that I am getting dizzy. Flashing, rooting, updating, kies(hey, I actually got it working now (again) ) Odin, JM1, JPK etc.
Now my phone has the following;
ProductCode: I9000HKDVD2
PDA: I9000XXXXX
Phone: I9000BUJG1
CSC: I9000GVD2JG1
SalesCode: VD2
Reading through posts on this forum I never saw anyone with the same codes as mine.
Model number: GT-I9000
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number: ECLAIR
As mentioned, I bought the phone in China and I have no idea if it is branded (with Google printed on the back cover) has been unlocked, but I suspect it has. It has been rooted (I have a little black ninja guy giving Superuser Permission) and there is a folder-like icon named "root(and some Chinese letters)"
Well, as I said I have Kies running again. First it was running fine then it stopped connecting to the phone and now after unmounting the external SDcard I can again access the phone from my PC.
Through Kies I can do a firmware update. But should I?
Will it be re-locked?
Will it get all the Chinese stuff back?
Will it somehow be converted into a European phone?
Should I wait for the official Froyo or just go ahead and update?
I can update again when the Froyo finally arrive?
Do I need to make backup of any of my "system" files before doing anything?
Any help suggestions and/or warnings will be appreciated.
If you can do an upgrade through Kies it will aslo tell you what the update is (JG2 for example) since you have what I gues is a chine salescode, you will probably get a chinese update .. What you can do, is goint to the devlopers section and read the topic about spoofing your productcode in the registry so Kies thinks you have phone from another provider / country than that what you have now
I am almost certain that if you can enter an old danish firmware in the registry and a danish productcode you will get offeren a new new danish firmware through kies ..This will not relock your phone ( if it was locked before) as far as I know only the froyo builds will do that.
I have been reading some more on the forum and found that the phone is actually branded.
Model [Country of Origin](Branded Phone Carrier) = Code
I9000 [Germany](Vodafone) = GT-I9000HKDVD2
I have also checked out the 3-button combo which seems to be disabled on my phone. I'll get this fixed before doing anything.
So I want to update to the froyo release and will probably be uding the Kies hack to do this. I'll use the XEE code which I believe will give me the danish language as an option.
Do I need to make backup of some of the system files before doing this?
In some poste there is talk about backing up some system files before upgrading as there is some information which is needed to unlock the phone again.
Well. I am still investigation this issue.
Now I am looking into using odin and firmware from samfirmware . com. Probably to JPA or JPO? Then I have been reading about the DocRambone ROM and will probably try that.
However they suggest to "- Check Simlock and Network lock is OFF *#7465625#". When I do this I am promted with a "Rejected" message.
Can anybody please tell me what this means?
I do not want to start messing with it before I know that the phone will not be locked after flashing to new firmware?
If it will be locked then what is the procedure of unlocking anagin. I have already made backup of the "nv_data.bin.md5" and the "nv_data.bin". Having these files is the same as having backup of the /efs? Reason for asking is that I cannot find /efs on the root of my phone.
Please help!
i have just bought last week a SGS GT-I9000T, i have searched the whole of the galaxy range of forums on here and only found two with links to I9000T, the rest of the details for this phone is : Model Name: GT-I9000T
Current Version: PDA-JJ1/phone:JI1/CSC:JI1
and the info from About phone Firmware Version 2.1-update!
Basebandversion I4000tdoJ1!
Kernal Version 2.6.9 [email protected] #2
Build Number Eclair.Dojj!
does the above mean that my phone is rooted ?? i know it shows root in the kernal, but i do no have superuser and im still locked in with NZtelecom, any info or help would be really appreciated many thanks and regards to all..
No, root in the kernel version doesnt mean its rooted.
What is it exactly that you want root for?
A bit more info and we can point you in the right direction
For rooting try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754
Just make sure your 3 button recovery mode works. If you do than its a matter of trial and error for trying custom roms etc because arent you on 850htz band?
Surely he can update to Froyo on Kies
Froyo not in nz or aus yet so its either kies hack or european froyo.
awsome guys many thanks and the very best of regards...

Hi All and many thanks for your input with this, as stated froyo is not available in NZ yet, but my problem is that the phone is tied to Telecom XT and we have four main carriers is NZ them being Telecom XT, Vodafone, 2Degress and Telstra. the first I9000T that i got was tied to Vodafone and i took it back to the shop as i wanted a phone that would work with 2Degrees, and preferably on all frequencies so i had the option to change sims if i wished, so the second phone that i was given was tied to Telecom XT, then i am told that the phone will not work with 2 degrees and they were not willing to order a phone in for me, so we reached a compromise on the phone, they took $200 off of the cost and threw in a 8GB sd card. ok so back to my question i need to root the phone so that it will work with 2Degrees and get rid of the bloatware at the same time. and to update to froyo would be a bonus for me.
the three button recovery does work and i have just now managed to root the phone, after reading lots of pages of info on the subject, what i was doing wrong is not using the volume key and starting the update with the power button, a pretty simple mistake but it was really frustrating and i don't really remember reading about it in all of the info that i found on how to do this.
so thanks to all i am now rooted and just have to update to froyo, so more reading to get there.
just one thing that i have noticed between the two phones i was given and i might be wrong here, but after taking the back off of the phone and where the sim card goes there looks like another sim slot between the usable sim slot and the edge of the phone, but the first phone and i am pretty sure on this did not have in the back as it was covered by black plastic without any holes in it, i will try and post a pic of the back that is in this phone, so we can compare and see if there is anything in this.
so once again many thanks for all of the help, and with the very best of regards to all
dave
Froyo ?
while i now have super user status kies tells me that my device is unable to be updated ? any one have an idea or any info on this, once again many thanks to all and the very best of regards
welcome to the joys of kies... i think most people here use odin to flash there roms maybe thats a option you could use quick easy and plenty of custom roms on this site to try.
Hi,
I am new to this forum.
I bought a new Samsung SGS from Orange network UK which is locked.
I unlocked it in India and am using it.
I wanted to wipe off the memory as there are unnecessary apps installed.
If I do the wipe off will my mobile get locked or will it remain unlocked.
I also want to know how to wipe off the memory without getting my mobile locked..... Plzz do help me guys.............
One more thing ..........
My mobile firmware version is 2.1-update1
Baseband version is I9000BVJF3
Build number is ECLAIR.BVJG2
Can any one suggest me the themes that I can install in it and waht are they???
Hello,
Before you start flashing themes, Have a cruise around the forum and do some research regarding firmwares and flashing.
The first thing you need to do before any themes, is download a nice solid 2.2.1 firmware for your phone.
There is also a 2.3.3 that was just leaked, but is still in a late beta stage.
There's a ton of information on this forum. Take some time and do a bit of reading. You'll be flashing in no time.
ThankYou for your suggestion.
Sure I will go through the forum.
But just let me know one thing if I upgrade my SGS will it remain unlocked or will it be locked as I mentioned earlier that I unlocked it earlier.
It will stay unlocked.
After you unlocked it, check can you enter download mode press and hold volume down, menu, and lock-power button for 10-15 sec.
If you can't than you need to enter download mode on the phone from PC:
-Install Kies from official Samsung site(it has drivers).
-Download adbDownload attached to this post.
-Download Latest Firmware (with bootloader files).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901
-Odin and pit (512).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901
-Archive for enabling Google Earth and Maps rotation and tilt attached ...multitouch...zip.
-Kernel, recommended:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011146
and you good to go for the best user experience at the moment.
p.s. All instructions and how to are provided on the liks.
I got this unit, relatively cheaply, in china. I realised it was rooted on two items: superuser was installed, and when keeping the start button depressed it came up with some chinese menu for shutdown, even though the os language was set to english.
I could set up my google account without problems, but i couldnt access the market. It was as if they used a short cut with an android market icon. Having said that, when i went to the market website online, i couldnt sign in on that. My non rooted htc phone has no problems accessing the market.
Interestingly, when i connected to wifi it popped up a softwarenudate notification, which it couldnt download due to absence of a SIM card (i didnt put my sim card in it yet)
Any thoughts/comments/suggestions?
What is your usage location?
what version of ROm you have? (setting - about phone)
you have to see there
baseband version ?
Build version?
Kernel version ?
Right, i managed to get the market working by performing a factory reset.
Baseband version=N7000XXKJ6
Kernel=2.6.35.7-N7000ZSKK1-CL706440
Build=GINGERBREAD.ZSKK1
Right now i found that the problems i ave with this build, is that any firmware updates cannot be installed (i get a registration error message, and yes, i did register the unit with samsung).
It also contains several chinese apps that i cannot uninstall and are a nuisance.
One is called 360-something (its in chinese which i dont read), another one is called Gexin. Both apps actually report new messages.
There is also a QQ security app running (i know QQ is very popular in asia).
Ideally id like to have a UK or US original firmware, so i can update to ICS when it comes out in the next month or so. But a modified US orUK rom would probably do as well if necessary.
You can get all available ROM here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
download my guide from signature (last link), if any assistance need to update ROM
