[Q] Phone won't update profile and PRL - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Starting yesterday morning I don't receive texts from certain contacts. Phone is rooted, stock, and s-off. For some reason the phone will not update the profile or prl. Spent time with advanced tech support and they recommended trying to update will Sprint service and not my Airave - which I tried and no joy. As per tech support I took it the Sprint store and they don't know what to do other than a factory reset. Will a reset lose root and s-off? I have what I need backed up....... I did flash the latest OTA yesterday (used a zip and RUU) with no change.
Thanks.

[Q] AT&T - haven't gotten OTA notification still

Okay, so I see all these threads with everyone saying they have the official 4.4 OTA. My mom's AT&T Moto X still hasn't gotten it…is there something wrong with her phone?
If there's not a fix, can I download the official 4.4 OTA and flash it somehow? Her phone is not rooted or unlocked, and I don't intended to do either to the phone.

4.4? or 4.4.2?
4.4.2 isn't out for the ATT locked Moto X yet.
Either. I am still on 4.2.2.

Go here and download the Motorola Device Manager and you can update it through that. It is a lot safer.
Motorola Device Manager
Instructions for Using Motorola Device Manager to Update Your Moto X
If that doesn't work, you are going to need to back up her phone and do a factory reset.
I'm in the same situation
I retruned my moto x to carrier for a replacement(this one had all ota), and the new one doesn't receive any ota so far(1 week since this), nothing worked, Device Manager, Restoring it, Wipe Data/cache, Deleting cache from Framework google o reset the process, switched to 3g wifi, etc. What should i do?
PS: I phoned motorola and claro, they are tossing the ball beetween them

How did you restore it, factory reset? If so, you could try using RSD Lite to flash the sbf firmware for your carrier. You need the app MotorolaOTA to get the update. Maybe there is a problem with MotorolaOTA. If you froze MotorolaOTA, that is the problem.
If flashing the firmware for your carrier using RSD Lite doesn't work, it sounds like an IMEI problem with Motorola not recognizing your IMEI as being in need of the OTA. Call Motorola back and try to get to Tech Level 3. The first level are not very tech savvy. Next level is better, but not as good as Tech Level 3. You have to wait for a call back to get to Tech Level 3 or at least I did.

You can always ask. I had to go through Tech Level 2 before I got a call back. They are based in Texas so call during M-F 9-5 CST.

Yes you can install RSD Lite and then "flash" ATT_XT1058_4.4-13.11.1Q2.X-69-3_CFC_1FF.xml
google the file name, download it and upzip it

Aha! When you said "freeze MotoOTA" that reminded me that I had disabled the app because it kept FCing when I got the phone. I enabled that…we'll see if it works now.

[Q] Getting LTE in old ROM but not new ROM

Good day everyone! I've had the HTC One for over a year now, and about six months ago I stopped paying the phone bill on the phone because for some reason Sprint said I owed them $500+; I continued to use it as a WIFI-only device though. Recently, a family member allowed me to come on their Sprint plan and they even bought me a Galaxy S4; unfortunately the screen cracked a month ago(stupid samsung). So I placed the LTE sim from the S4 into the HTC One and I was able to receive LTE and 3G; though there were drawback such as having to turn airplane mode on then back off again every hour or two. I recently flashed the new lollipop ROM, and for some reason I don't have LTE/3G; the icons are there but when I try to look up something it performs as if I have no internet. When I flashed back to the previous KitKat ROM and restored my data, I had Internet again. I believe that because I used the same ROM when I had service is the reason I can use LTE/3G; some system app is probably holding my account information. I'll also note I can't activate the phone when I flash the lollipop ROM because I have no service, though after the self-service app gives up and allows me to access the phone, the LTE/3G icons are up there; just no internet. I can't recovery restore my Kitkat data into the lollipop ROM, because I'll enter an inescapable, never-ending boot loop until the phone dies. So I'll have to titanium backup my data, I just don't know where my account information data is located; any help?
It sounds like you didn't update the radios and firmware. If you try to run a lollipop ROM with older ones, you won't get data.

I updated my phone using the firmware that excludes boot and recovery; that's why I can even boot into lollipop.
Edit: I'll update radio only and try my luck.

I think that firmware comes with the updated radios. Just to make sure, I'd update using the full firmware and then reflash recovery. That way you know everything is up to date.

[Q] Just rooted & installed Xposed, can't receive calls or texts but can send them
I rooted yesterday via towelroot:
I was on OA1 4.4.4 update, flashed kernel to ND3, rooted, flashed OA1 kernel back.... everything looked good (thread)
Only did a few style mods via xposed, nothing crazy but it then came to my attention that i wasn't receiving text messages.
I am able to send them but not receive.
I am able to make calls and I just noticed I can't receive them. It goes straight to my voicemail.
I reset my APN settings and cleared my application cache but nothing changed.
I'm not sure what else to try, searching has me going around in circles without getting much good information.

i didn't. i'm not sure how i would disable it other than totally uninstalling the framework. I may try that, but honestly I don't think it is xposed, I think some sort of setting got messed up during the kernel flashing.
i am unable to get google voicemail to work either.
getting mmi error codes
i got one call to go thru earlier today and thought maybe it was fixed but that was the only one.
still can send but not receive.

4.4.4 update was buggy as all get out I had all kinds of problems so I went back to NG3
I have been messing around with god knows what all morning and finally am able to accept calls. so there is some progress.
still can't receive text messages
can't activate google voicemail either
when i try to **004*1(voicemail number) code to activate google voice
i get "call forwarding connection problem or mmi code. conditionally for all basic services"
edit: i was able to get calls for about 5 minutes. now straight to voicemail again.

i might just end up doing that. the fact that virtually everything is working fine besides RECEIVING calls and texts (and now voicemail) makes me think it is just a matter of a network settings tweak and i dont need to factory reset.... but i have been at this for several hours and nothing seems to be working
I uninstalled xposed and the same issues are persisting. can rule that out
considering reflashing the oa1 kernel

Worth a shot...if that doesn't work might be best to reflashing back to stock and start fresh.

is there a thread you can point me to for this process?
is it as simple as flashing a ng3 rom and then running towelroot or do i have to go back to nce first?
edit: i suppose this thread is still relevant.
it sounds like i should go back to nce first then put the ng3 on my sd card and load it thru stock recovery

The threads links are still active and yes that's the correct thread
if a mod sees this, you can close the thread
i spent hours trying to get my phone to receive calls and texts and never found a solution.
i ended up flashing the original stock rom and starting over and i am back rooted on 4.4.2 ng3 and so far all is well

Root 5.1.1 or 6.0.1?

I have a TMobile Note 4 SM-N910T. It's currently on 5.1.1 stock and I just got the OTA Marshmallow update notification. I'd like to try Marshmallow out, but if I allow the OTA update, will I be able to root it later? Or is 6.0.1 unrootable (for now)? If I root it now (before updating to MM) will I still get the OTA update? And will it still be rooted after the update? So many questions!
ota then root
I OTA'ed, now the phone randomly reboots several times a day, and some apps don't work correctly. Great.
factory reset.
*sigh* I was afraid you were going to say that. Now the problem is backing it up. I have a Titanium Backup Pro license, but I only use it on my old rooted GS2. The Note 4 is not rooted so TB won't run on it. All the rooting tutorials say "back up your phone before you root" but you need root to run TB. Chicken or egg? I guess I could try Samsung Kies, don't know if it will back up everything. My photos are backed up to Google Photos, I guess everything else is replaceable, but I would really rather not have to reinstall all my apps one by one after a factory reset.
That brings up another question: when you to go Settings/Backup and Reset, I have "Backup my data" set to On and linked to my Google account, but nowhere can I find documentation of exactly WHAT gets backed up or to WHERE (it says to "Google servers" but what the heck does that mean? I can't find it on my Google Drive or anywhere else on my Google account dashboard.)
I do greatly appreciate your help, by the way.
You could try reinstalling through kies or smart switch. Make sure to clear caches before and after. And see if that works. If it doesnt help, you could flash recovery, root, try to backup as much as you can between reboots and then factory reset. Your apps should automatically download from play store. But without the titbackup files you'll lose settings and data in a lot of apps that Google doesn't backup.
I unlocked your mum's bootloader.

Were you able to downgrade back to 5.1.1? My phone also download the MM ota but I haven't installed it. I rooted 5.1.1 first and am trying to locate where exactly the MM ota downloaded to.
Been hearing too much about problems with MM.

There aren't that many problems with MM. Just superficial stuff like not having mobile data toggle. The problems you are hearing about a factory reset will fix. Like lag, jankyness, apps loading, phone freezing temporarily. You won't be able to do OTA. It will fail because of root. You need to titanium backup or whatever method you prefer of backing up data and flash through kies, odin or smart switch. Probably easier to go that route unless you only did minor things with root like just block ads, then you can probably get away with flashing stock recovery and then OTA. You still might have to factory reset like I had to even though I flashed whole rom through smart switch. If you have xposed or modified something like swapping recent apps and back key like me, then you'll need to flash marshmallow whole and start over after backing up.
Afaik, you can't downgrade to 5.1.1 unless somebody figured out a workaround or you only flashed everything except bootloader.
I unlocked your mum's bootloader.
@Shad0wsabr3, my phone gave me the choice to delay the upgrade for a while, but eventually just did it without my consent. I suppose you could download stock 5.1.1 from sammobile if you really wanted to downgrade. I just wish I could figure out how to back up my (unrooted) phone so I could then do a factory reset and see if it helps the problems I'm having.

Iv never backed up an unrooted device so I wouldn't know. Glad you nrought that up as Iv been meaning to look into that.
Would you happen to know where the downloaded ota file location is? My phone downloaded it and I keep postponing it.
Sorry, idk exactly where in the file system it is. All I can caution you again is, I kept postponing it and postponing it, and then one day the phone just popped up a message saying it was going to reboot and update, whether I liked it or not. Well, it didn't actually SAY whether I liked it or not but it did decide that I had postponed the update long enough and it was going to apply the update, giving me no option to postpone it any longer. That sort of pissed me off.
Please let me know if you come up with a backup solution. I've tried SimpleADB or whatever it is called these days, and another app that claimed to be able to back up an unrooted phone. Neither of them worked as advertised.
Where are the root instructions for completely stock 910T with MM update?

I'm still researching what your dealing with. As for me I found the ota file. For those looking for it this is how and where I found it....
With RomToolbox I went to root browser. Then to data folder and a folder named fota. Within the fota folder is the ota update named update.zip. I erased that and then went into Titanium Backup and chose to freeze both software update files. So far no constant reminders that I have an update ready to be installed.
Hope this may help.

Noob needs help with XT1096 on Verizon network w/ TWRP and keeps getting OTA prompt

Since there are not too many stable ROMs available on the XT1096 that support CDMA (I am using Verizon's network). I decided I would unlock my bootloader, flash TWRP and root the stock firmware. Well, the past few days I guess I did not update my phone all the way before doing this since I just got it not even a week ago and keep getting prompts to install an OTA. This will obviously not work with TWRP and when I flashed TWRP I selected to modify the system so the stock firmware would not rewrite recovery on boot. This has become a complete pain in the ass for me. Accidently I selected to install the OTA since it is always in my notifications and when it happened it would obviously fail in TWRP but then it would boot back into the ROM and then power cycle back into TWRP. The only way to stop it was to do a factory reset which is not what I would like to do every time I accidently select to install this OTA. So my questions to you awesome people who know more about this device are. 1. is there a way I can enable the to option to where I will always have a stock recovery and then I can just fastboot boot into TWRP if needed? Or is there another way where I can just possibly stop this OTA all together even though the prompt already says it's downloaded and waiting for me to hit install. Like can I just go into rootexplorrer and delete or modify a few system files that'll stop the phone for looking for OTAs? I don't reallyl care about the OTA since it's obviously not 6.0 since VZW got boned on that one. Looks like it's just some security patches.
I'm sure this is probably a really stupid and simple question, so I apologize in advance. But thank you SO MUCH to anyone who decides to help me out. I will appreciate it GREATLY!!!

Try using your favorite applications manager for root and freeze MotorolaOTA. This will prevent the update from being downloaded and you won't get messages about installing the OTA update.
