hope u have already solved ur problem. if u still can't it's because of MS silverlight. disable it in chrome, and let amazon prime play the movie within flash player.

I have been able to do it if I disable silverlight in chrome (from https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2445334?hl=en)
1.Type chromelugins in the address bar.
2.Find Silverlight:
◦Click Disable to stop the plug-in from running.
◦Click Enable to re-enable the plug-in.
I found that I had to reenable silverlight to get Netflix to work.

Any way to stream Netflix as a regular tab?

As a work around for using Netflix outside of the USA.
I can use Netflix USA very easily on my pc but I haven't figured out how to do it with the chromecast.
I don't have a fancy router and standard vpns don't seem to work.
So maybe if one could cast the Netflix tab on the browser as a "regular" tab, instead of rerouting it to the Netflix app on the chromecast.. Anyone thought of a way to do this?

Have you tried casting the chrome tab that you are playing Netflix in instead of hitting the cast button in the Netflix player?

Yeah it doesn't work, it will redirect it to Netflix app.
If you hit learn more, it will show that it doesn't support plug-ins like silverlight or QuickTime.
Maybe once Netflix switches to html 5

I knew I had done this before so I played it with some. I was able to get video to cast but it wouldn't send audio. I guess when I played with it before I saw the video and went along my way. Maybe use google remote desktop and login to another machine and play netflix while casting the remote tab? Its not perfect and its far from pretty but it works.

Hahahahah well I guess it DOES work, but my wifi is far too slow to handle it properly.
Interesting enough, the cast entire screen feature works okay for me (some lags here and there, could be performance issues because of my low end laptop) , but it's watchable.
If only it had freaking sound.
Oh well the remote desktop app didn't have sound at first either.

Works fine for me but I have to bump it down to 480p. From my chromebook.

A router that can support Linux commands is not all that expensive. You might want to look into that again.

Send videos from XBMC to Chromecast?

Has anyone found a way to send videos from XBMC addons such as mash up or 1channel to chromecast? It uses online streams usually just regular mp4 files. I know Google updated the Chromecast and that broke some apps but I also has read sometime else might have found a way to do it using WebRTC some how. Anyways I look forward to the day I can have XBMC on my laptop or tablet and send videos to the Chromecast like I can with Netflix and YouTube. Any info I'm this would be great.

I would like to know more about this too. Allcast has a time bomb.
I don't really understand why there isn't more interest in getting XBMC to work with Chromecast. It would basically let you watch anything you could possibly want to.
Off of a pi there's a good kit on eBay for 80 I believe it was...
I would love to do this!!!
would love it
I don't even use my Chromcast but this feature would change that.
A few problems with this, first SDK is still in preview mode and they haven't opened it up so everyone can add support for their apps willynilly. This means even if someone had a solution that works the way google wants their system to work they couldn't widely release it since it'd work on only devices that have been whitelisted for development.
You could possible treat whatever you want to view as a webpage and make it possible to watch something from XBMC using the tab casting feature, but this isn't as optimal as the just send a link and have the chromecast pull up the content itself. So this method doesn't really work on low powered devices meaning you definitely couldn't do it from the chromecast.
Another issue with running xbmc on a pi and using chromecast for the video feeds is you'd need a either a way to send the main menu to the chromecast so you could see it as you navigate it, or you'd need a second display just to navigate through the menus on the Pi. Not horribly efficient that second option.

I think the pi guy just meant setup a pi for XBMC and connect it to your TV without chrome cast. I want to use XBMC on my laptop or tablet and cast the videos to my chromecast.

Ah well in that case, setting up a pi with xbmc is completely irrelevant to the chromecast, and has already been done http://www.raspbmc.com/
Edit: I realize the pi guy was saying this was possible with a Pi. But if someone is here they've most likely already bought a Chromecast as opposed to a Pi
It would be nice to see XBMC support in some way. Though I have currently switched to plex since you can pull up the interface via web and watch movies that way you can tab cast it rather nicely with a decent enough computer.
We probably won't see official support for plex or xbmc until the sdk comes out of preview release and you're not required to get your device whitelisted for the features to work, unless either group gets the preferential partner treatment like netflix, hulu, and pandora.
Well if everything I have read on this thread is correct I will not be buying a Chromecast soon.
I don't regret getting the chrome cast is totally worth it just for YouTube, Netflix, and Hulu.

XBMC over Chromecast through Avia
Using Smartphone - XMBC can be watched over Chromecast through Avia Player which costs $2.99. YouTube Video shows how.

Good Luck
Chromecast streaming could happen easily. You do not need to physically have a menu on chromecast...look at all the other apps like Netflix hulu. You pick what you want on your phone and throw it to chromecast. They just need to work in a casting button for XBMC and then all will be good since most videos are mp4 anyway

I would love this as I just want a all in one solution that works perfect that dont cost me a arm and a leg and yet to find it.. this is close.. I got netflix hulu. I want amazin instant and xbmc.
(I have a ouya and a rasp pi but I just like how this works a lot better)

Oops, Shouldn't be here

I 've a problem here. So i am posting my query here if any of you experts can help me.
I have successfully setup my chromecast and its running fine with bubbleUnp.
But the problem is i cant cast any video using youtube app on my android device. it always says "Oops shouldn't be here"...
I am starting to hate this phrase now. kindly anyone help me what is the problem and why my chromecast cant cast youtube app?
A few questions...
Does the same video play from YouTube on your phone/tablet or a computer?
Are you using any DNS/region relocation services like Unotelly, Unlocator, etc?
Are you using a VPN?

1. Yes i can play it without any error, as normally played on the Youtube app.
2. No, i am not using any such service.
3. No i am not using VPN.
supporting information:
Youtube is officially blocked in my country (Pakistan), thus youtube cannot be accessed using internet browser. But if i use youtube app in my android using wifi i can access youtube and can play all videos. If i do the same over mobile data, its restricted. I can understand that browser or mobile data doesnt support youtube because it has been blocked by our Government but how is it possible i can use it on android app?
Lets assume authorities have left a loop hole here that it can be played using android youtube app but it can not be played using browser, then why chromecast cant play it? does it work on the pattern or structure of a web browser?

Exactly that. Your phone isn't retrieving the YouTube data and passing it to Chromecast.
Chromecast is a separate autonomous client. It's like if you see something on your phone and read the URL to your friend who puts that into their YouTube client. So whatever loophole exists on your phone, Chromecast doesn't have it.

[Request] Miracast for Nexus 6: Netflix Solution

Please see this thread for reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/nexus-6-miracast-t2952461
Using build.prop, we can enable Miracast on Shamu. I am using Netgear P2TV 3000 with the most up to date firmware. Netflix seems to have an issue or some sort of DRM in the app to block the video stream on Miracast. The audio plays and you get a playback screen, but the video is just a black screen. Other apps work fine and the display/audio is pretty good.
Could someone please find a solution to this issue? Thanks!
the same happened to me but using chromecast ... audio and closed captions but no video image... still figuring out as it was netflix app specific, tried other online streaming directly from chrome and it worked..

Maybe try Netflix for xbmc. If you are unaware of xbmc give it a google. I don't have Netflix so I can't say what does or doesn't work.

You trying something wacky, like "cast screen"? Because the netflix android application *contains* a netflix CHROMECAST application, and installs it as needed. It does not transfer video from the phone to the chromecast, the chromecast logs in and runs netflix directly.
nope, i think it is something related to DRM, i know netflix app do have en embedded chromecast beam however it does not work on my nexus 6, if i use the cast screen option to mirror i can see video with no issues from chrome or any other app, but not form netflix despise using cast from chromecast app or directly from the netflix app, it makes no difference

What build? I am on 5.1 the Netflix app still displays no video when miracasting. Build lmy47e. Also you are using chromecast right, not miracasting to another comparable Miracast receiver?

Netflix + Chromecast?

Netflix (installed from Google Play) works great. But the cast icon doesn't appear in the app, even though it does appear in the YouTube app, for example.
Is there any way to fix this?
Thank you.

it's working for me
I had this problem too. All other casting apps like bubbleupnp and showbox and youtube worked but not netflix. Tried everything to fix it but nothing would work. Now I'm on cm12.1 it works again! So
if you're running stock maybe try cm12.1?
Use the Chromecast app
I have the same issue. I have installed the Chromecast app to solve the problem. I just fire up Chromecast app and then connect to my Chromecast. Now I am connected to the Chromecast through the app and my TV is mirroring my tablet. Then I just fire up Netflix and I'm watching a movie..

That's... a solution, for sure. Not ideal, but it'll have to do. At least until I try CM (will do that soon). It has to be something on the Amazon ROM that tells the Netflix app that it's not Chromecast compatible.
If you've got root through installing a custom ROM, this should work, it worked for me:
