T-Mobile HSPA on AT&T Nexus One? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently picked up a T-Mobile prepaid SIM (to take advantage of their $30 unlimited data plan for a vacation) for my AT&T 3G-banded Nexus One. I had previously used the phone with no problems on AT&T 3G and got HSPA speeds around 1-2 mbps down and maybe 0.5-1 mbps up.
At home and on my trip, there is only EDGE coverage available for T-Mobile (according to their coverage map), and I was getting speeds of around 30-200 kbps down and up and pings around 300-400ms; however along the way, I was in the Baltimore area, which has T-Mobile 3G (HSPA and HSPA+), and I was seeing an "H" in my CM9 status bar along with an "HSPA" in Settings > About phone > status. I proceeded to do a speed test, and got 213 kbps down and 292 kbps up, with an 86 ms ping. I know those aren't HSPA speeds, but apparently I was connected to their network.
Can the AT&T 3G-banded Nexus One indeed connect to T-Mobile 3G and get 3G speeds? I find it a bit strange I was on HSPA but still getting EDGE speeds.

Was in another T-Mobile 3G area earlier tonight, and I was picking up HSPA, along with HSPA speeds. Managed to get 600-1000 kbps up and down.

I guess the AT&T Nexus One is indeed capable both AT&T and T-Mobile HSPA.

Radio question for North Florida (AT&T)Tilt users

I have a box stock Tilt (AT&T)that I just got last Monday and I am getting lousy reception. I have lived in the same place for 3 years and this is my 2nd Tilt. I don't remember my first one having this problem. I get the H symbol all the time , but usually only 2-3 bars most of the time. I have a Touch Cruise that gets excellent signal.
I would like to know which radios you guys are using and why. Maybe we can figure out which one works the best.
What side of town are you on? I get full bars on my tilt and have no issues.
In Northeast Florida, the Jacksonville 3G area stretches west to Baldwin, north as far as Yulee in Nassau County, and south to the northern part of St. Johns County. However, St. Augustine doesn't have 3G coverage. Gainesville does.
For WM 6.0 => 1.58.16.27
For WM 6.1 => 1.58.25.17 for great battery life, 1.65.20.29 for great GPS but a little less battery life
All of the above radios give me great reception
Jax phone coverage... dark orange is best

Jax 3G in blue
I'm all over Jax, Orange Park, and Middleburg and I rarely ever have a problem with reception. Just the occasional dropped call or hard to hear call whenever in a big building.
And I'm using the AT&T rom loaded from the factory.

[Q] Signal Issue

Really weird story.. This all started Sunday morning when I left for work.. I noticed that I was only pulling 3g, shrugged it off and went on about my day. It stayed solely on 3G all day Sunday, and hasn't connected to LTE once, with the one exception being while I was in a Sprint store, trying to resolve the issue, but of course they have their own repeaters.. As soon as I had left the store, I dropped back down to 3G. While I was in the store, they mentioned that they had updated the tower nearest my house to 800 mhz, which is supposed to be better for building penetration, on Thursday of last week.. The manager tried telling me that the tower will suffer weaker signal until other area towers are upgraded.. Has anyone else heard of this? I have tried updating PRL, profile, using the ## command, and nothing will give me 4G, and it's really damn frustrating!
sounds like another Sprint excuse; I couldnt take them anymore and dumped them for T-Mo, which works great in Chicago land..
Surprisingly enough, I received 4G about an hour after posting this.. Curiosity got the best of me, and I ran a speed test

I have NEVER pulled speeds like that on Sprint, thought it was kind of awesome actually lol.. There may be hope for us yet!
Decent speeds for Sprint. Speaking of speeds, compare my WiFi to my 4g...

Reception issues with the Unlocked SM920-F on T-Mobile

So, I got the unlocked S6 off of eBay, SM920-F model. I made my research, it should work with the t-mo's LTE and all but so far it has not been playing ball with me.
First of all, even when I am on LTE on this phone, it just shows as 4G which is not a big deal, I can live with that but when I am on LTE, as you can see on the screenshot below, it does not show anything as to how strong my signal is,etc...If I am on H+ though, it does show my signal strength.
And my LTE(4G Signal) is always at about 2 bars at best, no matter where I am, even if I am in the T-Mobile store. I checked my APN settings but I don't think that's the issue.

Anyone has any suggestions?
Thanks
Someone posted in another thread regarding LTE Discovery and the like apps don't work on the international models. I have the SM-G920I which is also International minus a couple of bands from your "F" global. Anyhow, with my Cricket Wireless sim the network status (not the lte discovery app) shows signal reception and movement however with my T-Mobile sim the network status does not move at all. Always shows -113. But if you use *#0011# the RSRP will show the true results of your reception. Oh and someone also mentioned that not all Global/International phones will display the "LTE" icon in the notification section even when you are connected to LTE. I believe it was carrier or tower/band specific.

Unlocked S6 Active not connect to 4G LTE 6.0.1 v14

I just purchased an unlocked S6 active from the online market in Indonesia. everything works well expect 4G LTE network.
it only showed 4G icon behind the signal bar, after I checked the network on sim card status, mobile network type was on UMTS or HSPA, screen shot below

}
then I also check the network status via *#*#4636#*#*, it still the same, network only connected to UMTS/3G and HPSA/3.5G
when I try to change the network type from LTE/GSM auto (PRL) to LTE Only, the signal completely disappeared.
and the network name on the sim card status changed to Unknown
I also change band via *#2263# but nothing.
I'm using Telkomsel, my previous phone (Mi4c) has no problem with LTE network. Telkomsel band was 900mhz/1800+ https://www.frequencycheck.com/carriers/telkomsel-indonesia
the S6 active supported 12 band inlcuding B3 1800+ and B8 900. https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/A3aR9/samsung-sm-g890a-galaxy-s6-active-lte-a
on paper, it should be worked
Is anyone has the same problem? or any solution to solve this?
anyone?
Did you try calling your service provider and asking for the apn settings? Also check that the provider that the phone was originally on doesn't handle LTE differently, and check if your service uses VOLTE, if it doesn't then you'll never get LTE in calls at least.

Network Issue

So I recently bought this Xperia 1 Mark 2 and to be honest it's the best phone I have used apart from the battery life.
When I bought it, it was in Taiwan Firmware region which gave me bad network reception like 3 bars on 4G LTE+ or LTE and no 5G at all.
So after searching online I finally changed to SEA which is much better improvement.
But the issue is now I am getting full bars everywhere which is a good thing but no 5G and still slow speeds with full bars I just don't understand.
If anyone can help me understand that would be great.
The bars are pretty pointless: At best they would indicate your reception. In the worst case they show utter garbage.
You should look instead for ASU, on my LOS it's in settings:

That value is quite meaningful, and if I remember correctly, it is the base for the reception bars (and every dev can freely assign the ASU value to any number of bars).
However, reception can be good but traffic is still very slow. How? For example one provider in Germany (Telefonica) was infamous for such thing: You had 5 bars and even a good ASU but still very spotty traffic due to overcrowded and badly connected cells.
Perhaps that helps you to figure out your bottleneck (or to provide more info here).
PS: Found a nice overview - sry, it's german only but there's always google translate, right?

How has your phone been since flashing SEA firmware?
Also does wifi calling work?
