Can I install this ROM? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my One today and it comes with 4.1.2 version, I have no updates available and it doesn't seem like I'm gonna get it anytime soon. My question is if I can install Android Revolution HD that's based on 4.2.2 if I have only 4.1.2? Thanks.

Yes. It will change the location of your user data but in one day I doubt you have much. Just do a full wipe when installing.
Here is a little FYI on the user data change (from a different rom, but process is the same)

Htc sense gallery and Zoe features from 4.2.2 in 4.1.2

Is the any way to get only the latest gallery and zoe from 4.2.2 in my 4.1.2 att htc one?
Because whenever i update to custom roms based on 4.2.2 , it creates problem of RANDOM REBOOTS, i have tried ARHD 11 , stock odex 2.17.401.1 , stock odex 2.24.709.1 , stock odex 2.24.401.1 ... And i install it after format and wiping everything.. Only thing that solves my problem is to run Official RUU... And its based on 4.1.2 And i dont have any problem with 4.1.2 because it has everything like 4.2.2 , except GALLERY AND LATEST ZOE FEATURES.. that are awesome and improved in 4.2.2
So please can anyone provide me app , port or something like that?. Please....

As I've understood the Zoe is part of the Sense is not just an app. So I'm not sure is possible what you want.
I've had no problems going from stock rooted AT&T 1.26.502.12 to stock rooted 2.24.401.1 on my AT&T M7. No force closes, no abnormal behaviors, no random reboots.
Make sure the downloads match the md5 before flashing. Backup the sdcard to the computer first, and only have the ROM zip on it.

I always check md5 before flashing.... I dont know why just me... i dont know any else having similar problem...
And if would be a hardware problem , then why there is no problem after restoring back to 4.1.2 via Official RUU...

Hmm that is something i havent tried... But i need to s-off for that.... Right?
And i think 4.1.2 is exactly same as 4.2.2
Those minor things like quick setting toggles ,percent battery .. I already have them via 3rd party apps... I even got photosphere...and able to remove 3 dot menu.... But the main thing missing on 4.1.2 is better zoe management , and video highlights and more themes for zoe... And for that reason only doing advance hacking stuff like s-off and Cid mid change on my first ever android device seems tough job for me
Still i will think over it .. Thanks man

My point was that you're trying to run a 4.2.2 rom on top of 4.1.2 firmware. It shouldn't be a big deal, but on some phones, it might cause problems.
And yes, you need s-off, but the whole process isn't a big deal if you follow the instructions carefully.

Flashing 4.2.2 over 4.3

Hi guys,
I just want to ask if it is possible to flash any 4.2.2 Rom over a 4.3 one without changing the Bootloader or Modem (as far as I know kernel there are no other things updated in 4.3 except some features in stock Rom and kernel). I'm sorry if there is a thread like this one out there but I couldn't find it on my phone app
Thanks in advance for your time and help

It's because I like to have all the possibilities to personalise nz phone, and Roms like MIUI won't get 4.3 support in the next time it's just my opinion

4.3's stock kernel sucks hard. I've experienced "unexpectedly closed" errors with certain apps and the device sometimes reboots itself without apparent reason. Had to flash the latest franco's nightly kernel in order to get this faulty release somewhat stable.
Nice GoinGoogle.
deleted
It is possible with custom recovery, not possible with fastboot without updating the bootloader. You may use any modem. You need 4.3 kernel.
EDIT: my bad, it was other way around. Yes, it is possible.
4.3 stinks like hot garbage. I'm not upgrading, and I'm going to downgrade my new N7 to 4.2.2 if possible. 4.3 is like windows ME.
I still have 4.2.2 on my N4 and have only tried 4.3 on my Kindle Fire. From my experience I have little interest in upgrading my N4 for the time being, since 4.3.x will likely fix all the JSS and JWR issues.

I think your problem is caused by your usage pattern / apps which are not updated for 4.3, combined with unstable root. Don't blame Google unless you experience the same behaviour on unrooted stock.

Wrong.
I experienced those crashes while on stock, even with google applications. that's a faulty release, not faulty device nor usage. for god sake, even "settings" menu has "unexpectedly closed" on me once.

I have had totally different experience with 4.2.2. To be honest I didn't like it at all. I didn't find it as "rock solid" as many other users here. (I came from Galaxy Nexus. Android 4.2 compared to really rock solid jzo54k 4.1.2 was imo buggy as hell. It didn't bring any performance boost but rather did the opposite: BT, WIFI issues, mem leak etc.) Plus I found this low touch sensitivity extremaly irritating. I use rooted stock 4.3 and so far I haven't noticed any bigger issues. Even if I do I really don't see a point to go back to still buggy 4.2.2. I think my device performs much better on 4.3. Maybe it's just a placebo effect, but it feels snappier and smoother. Just my subjective opinion.
Of course I do understand people that miss their favorite custom roms, whose 4.3-versions are still unavailable.
4.2.2 had and has clearly wifi/bt issues (major data stalls, difficulties in re-enabling bt after 20-30 hours of uptime).
These issues were solved. however, I'd expect 4.3 to be as stable as it can be, especially when it took more than 5 months for its release. Unfortunately, that's not the case. not even close, which is rather embarrassing.
I really was expecting for iOS-like smoothness and stability by now.

Maybe that's been your experience but my experience has been the exact opposite. It's made my N4 even more of a pleasure to use. It's smoother, snappier, and battery life is amazing. Mind you, I've never really had any problems with 4.2.2 except maybe GPS locking problems, which 4.3 solved. The only real problem with 4.3 is this whole JWR/JSS nonsense.

Not sure what's going on your end but my phone has been rock solid with no FCs at all since upgrading to 4.3 using the factory image (I never go the OTA route)
In case you're both running a stock 4.3 (unrooted), you're more than welcomed to run "angry gran run - running game" by ace viral and watch it boldly & proudly crash. If not on beginning, after few minutes. Just only one example out of many.

Not sure if this is the right place but here goes.
I am on AOKP milestone 1 might update to milestone 2 soon. But what do I have to keep in mind when making the jump to 4.3? Will I be able to downgrade later without problems? I dont understand the modems and bootloader stuff. Plus if I flash 4.3 I will lose root, so how do I flash 4.3 without loosing root? do I root the phone again after flashing? or is there a shortcut?

You can flash a 4.3 rom in recovery, but its recommended to flash radio and bootloader in recovery.

Android 4.3 ROMs require radio version .84 (or a hybrid 27/84 or 33/84 radio) and bootloader version makoz20i. As Thibaultvw points out radio version .84 and bootloader version makoz20i are both available as flashable zip files and should both be installed before installing a 4.3 based ROM. In addition, Android 4.3 requires SuperSU version 1.51 for working root privileges.
After upgrading the radio and bootloader for Android 4.3, you can restore or install an Android 4.2.2 ROM without changing the bootloader or radio.

[Q] KitKat Update

Hey Guys!
I'm not sure but am I the one who's experiencing the same problem updating my OS to KitKat?
I've seen on google that there are Captivate users, using this most recent version already, but I dont have any success updating to it, do not have a specific error message though.
Thanks!
What ROM you are currently running and how exactly you are trying to update the OS?
Hi! I'm sorry to annoy you with my posts,
but Im updating it to kitkat,
I went to settings> software update> check update> it loaded for a while and then it says No updates. the only option is to hit ok.
Im currently using JB 4.2

Very few custom ROMs offer OTA updates. Read instructions how to install custom KitKat based ROMs.
Ok I will thanks.
Yeah CyanogenMod has a pretty good autoupdate tool but a lot of the ROMs don't. YMMV.

Hi,I tested both Roms but both have bugs.
The Android Revolution HD 61.1 crashes when you close bluetooth, radio does not work, bought apps cannot installed, bluetooth does not give you the abillity to call,sd is invisible,I havent noticed anything else yet ,but it's a fast rom.
The Renovate 2.1.0 is unworkable, you cannot control the touchscreen.
I have found this site from vietnam which gives many options for alternative roms
http://www.tinhte.vn/threads/htc-j-...oc-phat-trien-boi-huukhai-15-04-2014.2261036/
but still !! all the roms have issues with the touchscreen at list for me.
Maybe the vietnam htl22 have different drivers.
I take the roms from this site
http://htcsoku.info/htcsokudev/2013device/m7_wlj/dev/global_edition/beta/
it's japanese, they worked for me but still have various bus which it is announced. The best i tried is the HTC Sense 5.5 με Android 4.3 beta 1 it's very stable and fast, the only issue is the bluetooth calling
Also now I am installing the Viper Ver 6.0.1 from the vietnam site which I dont know if is ok yet but at least the screen works
HTL22 is a very strange phone without much interest from the developers ,sadly.I'm not from Japan.I bought it hoping that it could give the advance from the international version. But the extra sd was a huge exchange about the rom support which we dont enjoy.

Thanks for the reply Kurokeita,I haven't also thought about the ota update that I didn't received.I was on a harry to root it when I received it from the posts and I didn't update it. 9/10 roms that I have tried had the same issue with the screen. My problem now is that I havent the original stock recovery to flash it.I kept the stock kddi backup rom but not the stock recovery. Can I you post it?
Also I have tried the Viperonej 6.0.1 its great rom but a bit slow!My benchmarks droped to (antutu 25600 and quadrant 11650) with other roms I had 28450.The Android Revolution HD 61.1 was very fast but unstable. The rom is a little laggy and the radio don't work!I dont care for the nfc.The great issue for me is that bluetooth calling is working and I'm happy for this cause all the working roms I have tried were buggy with this issue.I am hoping for an update.

That id the stock 4.1.2 from KDDI, just download it and rename to PN07IMG and copy it to your ext-sdcard and then reboot into hboot, it then search for stock rom in the ext-sdcard and will ask if you want to update or not, just press the volume up button and the update process will start, after all is done, update your firmware to the newest version to get the lastest drivers and then once again update the stock 4.1.2 to get back to hboot 1.52 (all roms that have been ported to HTL22 will have touch screen issue on hboot 1.54, still haven't figured out why that happen yet), and flash recovery and flash the rom you want and all work fine\
About ARHD61.1 lagging issue, i'm not sure if that is just your device problem but when i used that rom i didn't notice any issue, try wipe cache and dalvik-cache and see if that solve your issue with lagging, about the radio, i don't used it so i have no idea, will ask others who used ARHD61.1 if they have encountered it or not
And here is the Renovate 2.2.0.2, make sure you full wipe before flash this rom so that Tweak app (it's like venom tweak) work properly
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8smFc9Lui2tZGs5WktTbGduSjA/edit?pli=1 in my opinion this is the best rom that i ever used, flash it and use with kernel ElementalX 13.4 for best performance and battery life
Thanks about your support.I will try you the firmware update.I have the hboot 1.54.0000 and radio 1.23.11.1209 and its S-OFF.
About the ARHD61.1 is very fast ,it has a lot of bug maybe you confused with the viperone 6.0.1 I told, sorry. At ARHD61.1 I noticed varius bugs as:
invisible externalSD,when I open the bluetooth and the disable it the hol phone crashes, bought apps cannot installed.I always make a full wipe before installing from the option which give any rom.
The Viperone6.0.1 is very stable. The only issue is the radio bug and that it's a little laggy with low benchmarks. But it works fine.
I havent tried the ElementalX 13.4 cause I dont care about overclocking but as you say i will try it.
The major thing that I have noticed in evry rom is that the bluetooth works only for transer data or listen music when I tried to call it was dead. The only roms that worked properly was the viper 2.7 and the viper 601.The viper 2.7 is a tweked KDDI version with no error BUT it takes you 200mb ram away!you only see 1.5gb,its slow as the viper6 and contence the 4.2.2 android.
I will try to update the only thing I fear is that due to I live in Greece the update never wont come.I'LL SEE
Unfotunately my friend I rolled back the phone to hboot 1.52 and still I couldnt control the screen to Renovate 2.2.0.2 rom.I had done all the updates.I dont know what is wrong.I will return to the Viperone 6.10 and when a solution will come I will try again.

Βασίλη η Viper 6.0.1 δουλεύει άψογα μόνο το ράδιο δεν δουλεύει
What's the latest firmware version for hboot 1.52 and how do I upgrade it ?

How to upgrade from kitkat?

Recently got one of these phones and I love it, it really stood the test of time and I want to keep it for a while. But, the one I have is running android 4.4 kitkat. I got a custom kitkat rom installed, omni 4.4, and I can't install anything more recent. If I try to flash anything newer than android 5.0 it'll work just fine, but, I'll have no cellular connection. My guess is it's a radio issue. How can I fix this? I have a C6906. It's a Canadian phone, but I'm using it in the US on ATT.
