[ROM][JSS15J][Updated: 8/12]OTA-ish JSS15J for Mako - Nexus 4 Android Development

Here is a ROM I pieced together that includes:
GApps from the OTA including Phone.apk with Autocomplete
Build.prop tweaks for Wallet and OTA sound defaults
OTA Ringtones, Alarms, Notifications, etc.
Bluetooth audio improvements based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386032 (328 version)
Removed VoiceDialer.apk, Gallery2.apk, LatinIME.apk (AOSP), Quicksearch.apk, Music.apk, and Calendar.apk. Added OTA Gallery, OTA Play Music, OTA Calendar.apk and Google Keyboard from OTA (also called LatinIME.apk)
Bluetooth works fine on this build in my limited testing (paired headphones and listened to music)
WiFi Tweaks based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2300873. Only changes: gDataInactivityTimeout=200, gEnableApOBSSProt=1, gChannelBondingMode5GHz=1. For WiFi update only: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44315789&postcount=16

BTW, this is just a build I am using personally until MMuzzy comes out with his (hint, hint). I don't plan on improving or fixing anything. Oh, this is not rooted, either. You will need to flash Chainfire's SuperSU.
EDIT: Someone in another thread had a question about the build.prop. Here it is in it's entirety.

Compatible Mods
Here are a couple of mods that are compatible with this ROM:
Quicksettings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44086678&postcount=738
4-Way Multi-Reboot (use the 4.3 Deodexed version for JSS15J): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771307
I use both of these on this ROM with no problems. For the quicksettings mod, you may have to mount System in recovery when flashing.

I've always dreamed to do this: FIRST !
Thanks for your work

Thanks for checking it out; let me know what you think. I've been using the ROM since I've posted it and haven't run into anything.

Thanks, testing in my Nexus 4 , the rom looks interesting
Edit : Phone.apk force closed after a clean install with TWRP 2.6.0.0

Did you try fixing permissions? What ROM are you coming from? I haven't had an FC at all. I wiped cache, Dalvik, data, and system before flashing. I use TWRP 2.6 as well.

Thanks

Did you wipe system? Try wiping system as well and let me know. I'm going to make a NANDroid real quick and try re-flashing from scratch and see what I come up with.
EDIT: I'm using TWRP 2.5 not 2.6. I was having problems with 2.6.
EDIT 2: Using TWRP 2.5, I wiped cache/Dalvik/data/system, flashed the ROM, fixed permissions, rebooted. No FC's. I'll re-upload the ROM to Drive.

I re-uploaded the ROM just in case.

Genius, thanks! I prefer OTA's over straight AOSP as, IMO, there is a lot of "clean-up" work done to prep the build for the device, so that's what I was trying to achieve here. As far as I can tell, there isn't much difference between this ROM and the original OTA.
Thanks again for checking this out. My usage pattern is pretty simple, so I don't personally test every single thing in a ROM whether I compile it myself or tweak an existing build.

See OP for updated ROM with WiFi performance fixes. If you don't want to download and reflash the whole ROM, attached is the updated WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini. Flash in recovery, reboot. Alternatively, grab the file out of the zip, push to system/etc/wifi, fix permissions, reboot.

Let me look into this a bit. I think I read somewhere Voice Dialer was depricated or something and replaced by Now. If that's the case, I'll just remove it from the build. I don't think the OTA has voice dialer.
EDIT: The OTA does not have Voice Dialer. I am going to remove it from the build and reupload.

ROM reuploaded with Voice Dialer removed.

Hey itlnstln, I've been working on this rom you posted and managed to fix quite a few things.
Almost exactly like like google's 4.3 OTA except for these changes:
• Latest kernel JSS15J (deodexed) base with touchboost and backup sync fixed
• AOSP browser included
• Bluetooth bit rate (sound quality) increased
• WiFi Optimizations
• Newest Google apps fresh from the play store (let me know if they need updating)
• Removeable Google apps*:
• Chrome
• Youtube
• Google Earth
• Currents
• Wallet
• Google Plus
• Hangouts
• Play Books
• Play Magazines
• Play Music
• Play Games
• Play Movies/TV
• Hindi, Korean, and Pinyin keyboard
• Talkback (accessibility app)
Download
*Removeable Google apps will not be kept when resetting your phone from the settings menu.
-Updated: Slimmed zip by 50mb (unused libs) and added Google Play Services to /system

cool project but please make 3.x recovery support (upload backup folder or switch to new update script)
Very good ROM, but you should have odexed the ROM then added google apps As far as I am aware, Odexed apps cannot be updated, but hey I could be wrong.

Hi guys. First of all glad to see that someone else trying to do something.
FM radio is not a problem and I can share all that people need to implement it.
But what difference has this ROM from many many others 2.2 for our phone?
Hi Mur4ik. Your help with FM Radio is highly needed
Differences is in 1st post, for example, CM version is updated, added many languages, many SD Cards working, my kernel Work very fast, it's odexed for work speed.
It's a new compilation, not Soft-Mod.
You can post infromation about FM Radio here, or send me PM.
Thanks for your help, Mur4ik
and mpeg4 recording is working ... recovery reboot, 3g fix in kernel, battery life improved, quadrant scores too 1000pkt on 825MHz...
sound gr8, trying now... tnx
With .32 kernel what benefits are there I'm running m6 at the moment but a pre odexed rom built purely for speed sounds pretty cool I'd love to try I'm all about squeezing every drop of performance out of this phone

Edit: I was confused about this version and the one I tried for real (XXKH3). Sorry
I tried it already and went back to uekme, the rom was super fast and snappy but the font smoothing has been changed and fonts look like ****... too bad.
For those who are curious, the fonts are thinner, smaller, and super fuzzy, I thought I needed some new glasses !!!
I'm sure they changed the font smoothing technology because of some lingering patent war between them and apple, forcing them to turn to some other smoothing techno.
Makes me afraid for the upcoming updates which will be coming one day or the other.
Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich will have fuzzy fonts on the Galaxy Tab

I'm sorry guys, I was a bit too quick, I double checked and the one I flashed was from August 28th, namely XXKH3, it is about the same batch, but it is not THIS rom I flashed, so I cannot judge about the fonts on this rom.
Again, sorry.
PS: I'm downloading this one as I type this, so I can see for myself !
Excellent can't wait to get home this is by far the newest

Awesome. I'll be all over it. Will this be your OG ROM or the In Paris ROM? (I assume it can't be the stock ROM, right?)

Could you also post a stock deodexed and rooted version? That would be really appreciated.
Is there a changelog posted anywhere?
Just flashed and it is running smooth. Feels faster than any of the other roms available (previously running Paris v4 with pershot kernel oc'd to 1.3). I did not flash the new bootloader though. Odin'd the latest overcome recovery and flashed the root package in recovery and so far so good.

[ROM] P7510UEKMM [27.10.2011][Android 3.2]

P7510UEKMM:
Android 3.2
Download:

Pass: sampro.pl
It seems that Przekret is faster then me when it comes to up and downloading. I actually found this update by trying different CSC codes and it got automatically published on check fus.
It's the same US Wifi only update that was released today.
Has anyone tested this with pershoot's kernel and will the "regular" root zip still work?
Is a pit file needed when flashing with Odin?
Downloading.....
Tnx...

so can anyone who flashed via odin confirm this?
i wonder if the installer using the 'trasditiona' way is not wiping everything and hence the problems??
I have no WiFi issues after flashing with Odin
I think it's for US WiFi Setup, where I read a lot of WiFi issues

A Few Questions
Is this a completely stock build? System, kernel, recovery?
Is it root-able with the current methods available?

MD5:

Upload failed I'll try again in the AM.
Link is up guys enjoy. Should work. Idk I uploaded with tether so if it was bad again I'll wait till I'm home tonight and use real wifi.
Working well for me. Thank you.
EDIT: Argh... the download kept grinding to a halt after 50Mb or so. I kept restarting it and eventually got it downloaded but there is a MD5 mismatch. Trying again.
EDIT 2: I downloaded again, this time without errors... BUT I got the same MD5 as previously 8008d0db30f377c441630f81edeac21f. Is this actually correct?
I'm going to flash it anyway (Life is nothing without an adventure)
EDIT 3:

I guess I had better have my adventure tomorrow
im going to try and make my first custom rom with this, thanks for your hard work.
Read above you. The file is broken and needs to be re-uploaded.

His not alone i downloaded this 5 times then on the 6th time i used md5 check program that i have it does match your md5 checksum but when i flash it in cwm it gives the status 7 error..
When I try to flash in Recovery it comes up "Starting AROMA INSTALLER version 2.0" then I get a error. My current rom in omega and did wipe data/factory reset and also formatted system, data, cache and rebooted recovery. Also reflashed recovery, same message comes up.

it was the file downloaded from samfirmware that i was flashing with odin not your file. it looks like the original file is corrupt as odin complains about the md5 not matching
Where is the description of the ROM? What's good about this ROM? Reason I ask is I'm looking for a good UK based Rom, are you going to do any tweaking and enhancing ;-)
