[Q] Pushed update to 4.3 while on custom GP rom - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
Im on bigxie's Stock Android 4.2.2 Google Play Ed rom and I got the notification this morning for System Update Downloaded for 4.3.
I assume this will not work anyway but would this run the risk of bricking my phone? Also is there any way to get rid of the notification so I dont accidentally pocket install it or something?
Cheers

Are you running the odexed version? Using the stock kernel? Stock recovery?
If you have these things you will be good to go.

Buying used N7000 with CM - returning to stock ROM

Can anyone recommend a stock ROM and whatever other files needed (firmware/recovery, etc.) to return a used N7000 to stock?
I'm on my way to buying one from someone and probably will test out the CM10 installed on it, but in case it isn't very stable I want to return to the stock ROM.
I'm not a complete noob, but I know there are particularities to each device, and trying to figure out if it's as simple as finding the latest stock ROM posted here on the forum and flashing that with ODIN or whatever...
Thanks.
You can give a try to gingerbread.and then can flash cm10.and can return back also to stock.
I wouldnt Recommend you ics.

It's got CM10 installed already and I will test that out first. Why wouldn't you recommend stock ICS? I mainly want it because I want Touchwiz and also because I want the phone to be ready for the Jelly Bean OTA update when it comes out and don't want to keep flashing ROM-s all the time and losing my stuff or having to back sh!t up

What about the root and recovery? Do I need to be stock completely to prepare for the OTA?
yes for OTA you need to have stock ROM.
You can directly flash latest ROM, so at least you need not to go for OTA soon.

You can get the ota update even if you are rooted but you cant install it
You need to be on stock kernel and unrooted to get the ota installed
After you get an ota update, you can unroot your phone, then download and install the ota update

Not true.. You indeed have to have stock kernel/rom/recovery but superuser/supersu are just apks.. So you can update being rooted and pray the process doesn't unroot your device.. But it won't prevent the ota upgrade

So, if I flash the stock ROM will that also unroot it and install the stock recovery? Or are these separate steps?

Flashing stock ROM will return it fully to stock. Cwm and root will be removed.

Battery Percentage mod on stock root?

Hey bros, been out of the android game for a year so I just got back in with the One yesterday. I'm rooted but haven't installed a custom rom yet. Is there a way to flash a battery percent mod without having to flash a custom rom and set everything back up again? Thanks for your help.

Before I flash this... will this for sure work with my Stock rooted rom? I'm not sure if it's deodexed or not.

It will not work, stock rooted is not deodex. I'm assuming that all you did was unlocked bootloader, flashed recovery, and flashed super su correct? Your other option might be to try modaco mod which runs on xposed app settings. I would recommend to just use a custom rom or flash the stock deodex rom though since most future mods will require you to be on a deodex rom.

That's what I'm ending up doing. OMJ's rom offers too many benefits that makes setting up again worth it.

[Request] Flashable Rooted 4.3 for Locked Bootloader

So here's my request
If it's not much of a trouble, whoever managed to root their locked bootloader 4.3 and with experiences in making flashable zip can you guys like make a rooted 4.3 and make it available to flash it from 4.1.2? Later after flashing if needed, flash the 266 kernel through flashtool
Pure stock 4.3 from CE region would be nice (and deodexed as a bonus)
I don't know if this is possible tho
If it's not then tell me. I'll remove this thread immediately as it can cause annoyance :silly:
Patience guys the update has just rolled out. Let the developers work and give them some time!

If you look for it, there is a 4.3 de-odexed available. you can flash it and then flash SuperSU zip... then flash 4.3 kernel ftf
I am on locked rooted 4.3.

You mean PuReStOcKdEoDeXeD 4.3 v2 rom? I've seen it but I just wanted a pure stock rom from CE. Nothing changed. Just rooted with an updated SU and deodexed. Nothing more. He changed the build number to 'PuReStOcKdEoDeXeD'. Not that it's wrong and dipesh1502 had done a great job. It's just me. It just that doesn't feel right
Or do you mean other rom I didn't notice?
Oh and not to mention jancsessz method didn't work for me. Think I did something wrong :silly: the SU ask me to re-root it and pretty busy so I don't have time to do it all over again. If someone just make one that'll be great :good:

[Q] Is it possible to downgrade this device from 4.3 to 4.2?

:crying:
It would be my only way to get rooted..
Why??? Flash a custom recovery and use it to root. Or - even better - flash sbdags modified and rooted stock rom, or - still better - flash CROMi-X 6.0.1

Er... no... wait... what?
You can currently only root on an unlocked device. You can root on 4.2 or 4.3 it makes no difference. I made a flashable zip in the dev section But if you are going to do that go for CROMi-X 6.0.1 as berndblb says....
You can downgrade if you want btw but why?

reflash your rom or push a 6.o kernel to your phone and flash it.
before you make anymore mods to your phone, you want to make a backup within twrp recovery, in case you end up like this. then you can always restore it.

Its important to first flash the kernel and then the latest superSU.zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/wip-android-6-0-marshmellow-t3219344.

you do realize that when flashing kernels, that you dont have to reflash supersu(if you already have root)? :silly:

I was (am) under the impression that after every kernel flash superSU had to be flashed too At least with 6.0.1.

well, im not on 6.0.1, im on 6.0, and i flashed a kernel yesterday without flashing supersu, and i still have root. in theory, on 6.0.1, it should still be the same, as your supersu doesnt get removed when you flash another kernel. but, im not perfect, so i guess i could be wrong when it comes to 6.0.1
