wow you seriously get that backup???
do you have mobile data on all time or just when you need???
Me too. Never thought i would get battery backup like this. I got only a day and a half of battery backup max on my old Galaxy Nexus.
Mobile data always ON now, but also have STAMINA mode activated which cuts off mobile data while screen is off. Also Wifi is automatically deactivated when i leave home and turns on when am back!
Here's my battery backup. Heavy day and I was on the road from morning to evening.

Standby Loss?
My experience with the battery has been mixed.
The standby time is great. But sometimes i experience abrupt drop in battery level (about 4%) while idling and no background apps, data, bluetooth, wifi all off.
Also, can someone please tell the standard battery loss for following scenarios (in % loss per hour or other time intervals)
1. While using Mobile Data (not WiFi) and browsing on Chrome ( I lose 17-20% battery per hour)
2. Sleeping with STAMINA MODE on. (i lose 3-4% in 6-8 hours overnight)
Any replies or help is appreciated.
What kind of sorcery is this??!! :silly:
GREAT!! :good:
Thought I should update once more.. This time I have more voice calls than screen on time.
Using Opera instead of Chrome, I have seen far less battery usage and also memory usage.
It's better battery life than GNexus for sure. but playing game really drain up the juice
Usually using Calls, SMS, Internet (Jasmine, Twitter, YouTube, Opera) via 3G and Wi-Fi, listening music via BT PowerAmp -
Gaming RealRacing 3 from 96% to 28% -
Good Battery i think.

Ciao
I just bought the xperia ZR. I haad sgs2 and I was very please with that phone. Recived OTA 4.2.2 as I turned on the phone. Updated.
Screen, design and UI responsivness is just top of the notch.
Camera in low light envirioments is poor, pics are full of noise... You have to play a lot with the settings to get a decent pics. I heard that is a software problem... Well... I hope they fix it soon cause is worst than sgs2 pics which has less MPixl.
Question about stamina mode. I turned on but I do not see it working... Please spare me lessons on how it supposed to work. I do know that. When I turn on the display the H o 3G icon is there as the networks never been shutted. I still receving FB whatssapp notification, and i didn't put any app in the allowed list.
I read that many other guys experienced this sort of problem after updating to 4.2.2
Any suggestions? Is yours working well? So u have always the network logo?
By the way yesterday was first day without stamina the battery hit 13 hrs with 1hrs call and 3hrs screen on. Not bad I might say. But I cant get 1 or 2 days as guys with stamina did....
has anyone tried the mugen power batteries yet? I watched the video showcasing the 4600mah battery and it kinda looks like they doubled the thickness with the new case? I don't think i would want my phone to be that thick so can anyone who has it post comparison pictures, or at least testimonials about the 4600mah and 2500mah ones.
Glitches in Battery Status
After 10.3.1.A.2.67 Update (jellybean 4.2.2), there's been glitch in battery status, sudden drops in battery level. Anybody else experiencing the same?
And Take Screenshot option removed from power option menu? I don't see it after update.
so far didnt experience any battery problem. but screenshot option is no more there. liking this update

I haven't updated to 4.2.2 yet, but I have sudden battery drops (4-8%) with 4.1 JB on C5502. It usually happens when battery is below 40%.
These drops have happened more than 20 times in last 2 months.
I was hoping that this issue will be fixed in 4.2 update?

You have updated to 4.2.2
Could you please tell me the size of the update by PC companion? Is it like the FTF( 700MB) or OTA update (200MB).
I have limited data for my connection.

Does the screenshot shortcut i.e. pressing power button and volume down together, work on the 4.2.2 update?

2.) I didn't received any OTA updates. So updated using PC companion(700+ MB)

Hello there!
I want to ask you to write -how many time does your battery work until the phone asks to charge it?? And can you add, do you keep your wifi, gps, bluetooth, auto rotation,3g,background data,auto-sync on? What programs do have running in the background?:}
You see, the problem is that i have my mini for about a week now, and i'm a bit dizzy about the fact, that my battery stands for ~9 to 14 hours, AND WHAT IS IMPORTANT, i have everything what i have mentioned above TURNED OFF. I use only wifi for about ~30 minutes a day and listen to music while i'm traveling somewhere..
My mini has android v2.2.1 Maybe newer versions can extend the battery life?
Cheers!)
Hi letmepass,
I understand your problems with battery life as I'm sure a lot of others here can sympathize. I am running android 2.3.7 and my experience is that even from 2.3.4 onwards the battery life is significantly improved.
Currently I run wifi constantly and sometimes gps when I'm outside. Gps doesn't seem to pose a huge threat running in the background although WILL drain your battery if in constant heavy use (maps/navigational applications etc). I suggest upgrading your firmware version of android to at least 2.3.4.
Also theres a quick check to see whats hogging all your resources which I always find to come in handy. Go into settings, then application settings and choose running services. Press your info button on the mini and touch show cached processes (press again to switch back to running processes) From there you can get a pretty good idea of what is using your system resources and you can pretty much guarantee thats a huge drain on battery also.
Hope that helps.
Thanks a lot Fraser1978 ! I'm thinking about upgrading my android, the only thing stops me is warranty, i don't want to loose it yet. And of course the risk to brake my phone.. Am. Can you tell me please how often do you charge your mini?
I sometimes only charge once a day but it depends on how heavily I use the phone. In general my phone is charged twice a day. How often do you have to charge your mini?

Once or twice a day.. Uh, I thought.. I've read somewhere, that mini can stay alive up to 2-3 days.. You know, it's my first smartphone, so didn't know the battery behaves this way ;D before i had Samsung s5230, and it worked for 3-4days, so it's a big difference
One day i downloaded avg antivirus for mini and ran it. Can you imagine, it discharged the full battery in about 3-4hours ;D ...
Thank you anyway!
Did not use rooted 2.2.1 for long.
2.3.3 and 2.3.4 (stock rom), rooted, with CPU tuner installed helped getting 40+ hours of battery life - no wifi; GPRS on full time, 1hr + talk time. 15 to 45 minutes browsing. This meant charging alternate days.
With CM 7.1, it charge alternate days, but if first charge is today morning, next charge is tomorrow evening.
Edit:- This also a bit operator / location dependent. If you travel a lot, phone will obvious discharge fast. Try using a different operator (if possible), or using in a different location.
Changing operator selection to "manual" might help.
I really feel your pain! It's the main drawback for me with this phone. Its my third smartphone and second touch smart phone. My last 2 were both symbian. It's a great phone but the battery life is really disappointing!
Mine can survive up to 2 days...I'm running CM7.1 with governor interactive x and scheduler sio(using no frills).
I use my phone in two ways: one as a simple phone, with just 15 minutes of 3g, about an hour of call, and a lot of SMS...and it stands up two days...the other way is about an hour of 3g and a bit of gaming, over the phone using...and I can get a whole day
I keep everything disabled when not using, and (the most important thing) I use "battery calibration" every time I flash a new ROM
Try my suggestions and let me know ;-)
Inviato dal mio GT-S5570 usando Tapatalk
Thank you guys for your replies!!)
For me it survives in a normal day (with travel, in Froyo 2.2.1 with 3G and tweeting every 30 mins) from 7AM to 8/9PM, If I stay at home with the wifi always on and a few calls 1 day and 12 hours...
I wish they had thought about the battery life before finishing the product!

OK I have one more question, is it ok to leave mini charging over night? I mean, doesn't it have bad effect on the battery life?
Hello friends!
I have good news:} I think I've found the solution for my situation:} In my case, the "Use packet data" was on, which means that phone was always using/reconnecting to the EDGE:} I turned it off and battery works just fine!!:} Now there is only one thing to look for is for how many time will my battery survive!;D
Just in case anyone find it useful;}
Cheers!
hmmm , im using wifi up to 8 hours but only sms my phone up to 48hours !
Somehow, my xperia V battery kinda drains pretty fast..while in idle(left phone at room)..aftr 30 minutes, around 4% being down..i dont know why..seems like android system eat my battery..

Don't forget, it's a new install. Everything has been changed, all caches are gone. Your phone needs to rebuild all. This can take a few days up to a week, depending on how much data you have.
Let it settle some time and you will notice that it will get better.
Did I help? Please press the thanks button

Try the turning the the extended standby mode in settings and tell me is it working as I am not sure it working on mind.
Can you tell me when your mobile data and/or wifi is turned on when your display is off for a few minutes, unlock to see if it did turn off mobile data/or wifi then it turn on again automatically please.
I have exactly the same problem on my T. Sometimes with Android System, sometimes with Dialer. Don't know why is this happening as many users don't have any problems at all...
well, u can see at the screen shot the logo up there that i use the extended standby mode..and currently, i dont have any mobile data, and it set off all the time, i only using wifi...but turn off when not using..thats all..

32gb c10...but since i just buy the sd card recently, it just been song and picture, no games for the time being, i expect more battery drain if im playing games...so got a little worried..
If you have many pictures and music (just like me - 32GB class 4 SD) there may be issues with media scanner which is trying to scan (possibly) corrupted files or something like that. It's a known issue with JellyBean where the system tries to scan the SD card and hangs in one place which produces unstoppable wakelock. Try to google that and you will see many users reporting similar issues
Besides mediaserver states for music player. If you turn the music on and turn off the screen there will ALWAYS be a mediaserver wakelock. When you turn the music off, close the music player and turn screen off, mediaserver wakelock will stop.
Is there anyone on this thread can show how the extended standby mode works I lost how it actually works.
I went down to shop and played around with a sony xperia T which has the extended standby mode. Same thing happen when wifi/mobile data turned on waited for a a 1/2/3 minutes and unlocked but same thing happen it was still on so I at how it works plus I looked at and stop few services running in settings/apps.

I read how the extended standby mode works. I now know I would have wait 15 minutes for it to turn off wifi/mobile data. I thought I only need to wait a minute or two.
Here is the website http://developer.sonymobile.com/2012/10/05/learn-about-extended-standby-mode-sonys-new-power-save-feature-video/
I think I might stick to JuiceDefender Ulimate app as it turned them off automatically.

The story of my short life battery!
I got my Xperia T 3 days ago, and today i put Jelly bean, but right from the beginning, with wifi turned off, data turned off, overnight the battery drains by 30%.
It does not even stay for half a day! I searched around in net, and in Sony forums they say, since the phone is new, it would take time to settle?? Frankly , this is the first phone i am experiencing this issue with, none of the phones i used , ever drained battery with possibly nothing being used within a day!
I was excited of this phone, but now i feel depressed because of this battery issue it has taken me down since i bought it.
I am thinking of replacing the battery, but guys any suggestions from your side, any Apps which can help me tell who is eating away all the battery?BTW it says "Android System" 70% usage!! Is this normal??
Please help.

So did you find any solution? its either we are unlucky to get bad battery units, as others are not facing this issue, or it is really that the battery would take time. Only time will tell for the second one!

It charges very slow.. I used to charge using my laptop USB.. I kept around 2 hours and charge increased only around 20%.. It was fast in Kitkat.

I tried with Both USA and TW Firmware.. Even tried after full reset.. Still same issue.. I think we have to wait for bug fix or any work around solution ..
I am using the US version, not rooted everything stock. When I installed I faced very heavy drain, even with a charger the battery was going down. After a few reboots everything is back to normal. Battery life is nearly identical to kitkat.

Hey guys,
I think I might have a problem here, I did OTA update over 10.5.1.A.0.283, got 10.6.A.0.454. Everything seems to be working fine, the system is quite smooth, yet battery life is worse than it was!
Cell standby and the OS seem to be consuming way to much battery, my reception isn't perfect, yet I checked in Cell standby and signal loss is at 0%.
I do have STAMINA on, yet according to CPU Spy the phone never goes into Deep Sleep. Isn't that suspicious?
You'll find a few screenshots attached to this post to give you an idea what I'm talking about. I'll try to flash the full rom today and see if it helps, while I'm typing this message FlashTool is creating an FTF file so that I can flash it later. I'll keep you posted.
Also, if anybody needs the FTF file, here's the torrent file link:

From my point of view, it totally depends whether you did an OTA update or flash the new ROM. In my case, I have the Deep Sleep state active for a lot of time, and here's the screenshot:
Did you make a factory reset before/after flashing? Most time this helps.
Think the scan location when wifi is off option (in wifi setting) has effect on the google play service.
Also I am testing what exactly that stamina clock option within stamnia setting does. It seems it affects the battery in a not necessarily good way.
This is annoying. Sony includes all these features that are basically rubbish...

Hi,
I installed lollipop onto my ZR via the PC Companion a week ago, and I used a clean install (repair). My battery life is very bad compared to kitkat. I don't use my phone often, mostly it is in standby mode with mobile data enabled and stamina mode enabled (I added a few applications to stamina mode white list: gmail, facebook messanger, etc.). With kit-kat I had to charge my phone every 3 day, but now I have to charge it every day!!! this is 3 times worse than kitkat. If I check under power management - battery usage, I see a few apps have several hours of 'mobile radio active' (mostly gmail, chrome).
I have searched for this on internet, it looks like it is an lollipop related issue and not a sony related issue. Lollipop has this issue since 6 months now , and they didn't do anything to fix this (there are tons of forums posts about this on reddit, and on other places). I have the feeling Android is getting worse in every new version, and Google hire the most ****tiest developers of all time. They don't even answer to the thousands of user complaints of this issue. I will never touch an android phone in the future.

So hi all
I received my first Nexus 6 yesterday, got it charged, didn't even set it up properly (no sim card installed yet). Screen pops up to say ther's an update available to 5.1. So I did that update. Mid-update an android shows up, laying on his back and "Error". Rebooted phone... Bootloop on "optimizing apps".
Got new phone from store today, everything works. But I don't want to update again and have the same issue. Anyone knows something about bricking the Nexus 6 with factory updates? Wasn't planning on rooting or anything else. Is there any major reason to update to 5.1?
Secondly, I was reading that the Nexus 6 has a very good battery life. That's the main reason I switched from my iPhone 5 (before I had android phones) to the Nexus 6. I fully charged it today, spent 20 minutes on the phone and already 5% off, only WiFi enabled & bluetooth. Three apps installed: Facebook, Messenger & Instagram. Does the phone still have to break in or could it be that the 5.1 update fixes any battery drain issues?
Many thanks in advance!

Any tips to prevent it from bricking again? It's a brand new phone in a brand new package... Don't want to go to the shop again tomorrow saying it's broken again. And I could fix it by adb & fastboot stuff but I don't want to void my warranty yet.
the battery drain is mostly related to how you personally use the phone, how you set it up, what apps you install and use, and your phone/data signal quality. keep your phones brightness down for better battery.

well, it wasnt "bricked", you just didnt know how to fix it. but no, thetes nothing you can do from that randomly happening again. but it was a random event, as the far majority of nexus 6 updated ota fine.

So hi all
I received my first Nexus 6 yesterday, got it charged, didn't even set it up properly (no sim card installed yet).

Regarding battery life, Facebook app is a huge battery killer. I suggest using the mobile site. Battery life is dependent on many things, including signal quality, apps installed, location settings, screen brightness, etc. I regularly see 5-6 hours of SOT. I keep location set to battery saving. Ambient display is turned off, because I use a custom ROM that enables the LED notification by default. My brightness is kept between 30-35% with adaptive brightness enabled. Also, I'm either on WiFi or a strong LTE signal.
Regarding your misfortune with the OTA soft brick, it is not uncommon but I doubt it will occur again on your new device. If it should, return it again. It is of no fault of yours. You should always update, as important security and system features are updated.

Thanks! Facebook wasn't even between the battery usage yet. Because I wasn't logged in yet. Messenger and Facebook (& data signal) were the apps that drained my iPhone the most, sadly enough.
Currently I was on WiFi with data disabled. To how much days does 5-6 hours SOT time translate in days? 1 or 1.5 days .. 2 days? (for you). I was having high hopes with Android again but my newly aquired Moto 360 drained in 3 hours from 80% to 6%... with almost all features turned off. Hoping to get this stuff fixed.
So I should just try to update it again?

I'm in the "extreme" category as far as usage goes. So, my 5-6 hours of Screen On Time translates to about 15-18 hours of use/standby. For less frequent use, you should easily see 1-1.5 days on a charge, if not more.
Yes, update. There's nothing you can do to prevent it from happening. Well, maybe not nothing...
You could unlock your bootloader, and never worry about updates again.

a little story about facebook.. the last time i had facebook on any of my devices was in 2011. i had it on bith my nexus phones and tablet at the time. as far as i could remember, it always drained my battery. i had it on my nexus 7 for 2 months. one day i noticed it drained 25%. the funny thing was that i never ever logged into my account on the tablet, ever. i started niticing that it drained anywhere from 8-30% battery, without me ever using. after a week or so of this, i uninstalled the facebook app from all of my devices, and have been using the site since. btw, facebook is one of the top 5 apps that will drain your battery, even if you dont ever use.

my phone uses about 5.5-6.5 hours sot. for me, thats about a day, but im a very heavy user. we all use our phones differently, so 5h sot will mean different things to different people.

Oh okay. Maybe I should remove the Facebook app. I only use it when I'm bored. Will leave messenger installed for now.
In meantime I successfully installed 5.1. Now on to 5.1.1 or does it have the same battery drain issue as the android wear one?

Hi all.
I buy the Galaxy S9 Plus, received two days ago.
Currently i have the January Firmware, no update here in Italy, that seems unstable right now.
Compared to my Oneplus 5t, sorry to say, but it is a bit laggier.
In those days, 2 times / 10 some application (Google maps - Twitter) have crashes or made the phone unusable (i have to force close Google maps three times yesterday).
Also, the battery is draining really fast, battery today drops with a medium usage to 10% after 2h of screen.
Hoping that the situation will be better with the new firmware.
2 days for testing battery life not enough the device still learning how u use it
for crashing and unstable for sure updates will solve that
The device isn't even officially released yet. Give them time to release the update that we already know is being released (already has been in Germany).
Allow more time for battery. A new phone has to learn your usage patterns before the battery is properly optimised.
If you're getting a lot of app crashes there's something wrong. Try a factory reset. If that doesn't work, return it as its faulty.
battery indeed drain very fast. I own a regular UK dual sim s9. compared to S8 which I previously own, sot is up to 1.5 hours shorter. basic operation heats up phone fast too.
I have none of such problems. No crashes so far. Battery life is great. Maybe faulty unit?
These are my battery figures so far.
I have had no crashes just yet. I managed about 4 hours SoT over an 18 hour day yesterday. Not amazing but better than my old 6P.
The device is lightning fast and keeps quite a bit in memory too!
Got the plus and had an ota yesterday. 1 fc of something I can't quite remember prior to update.
Been rock stable and battery excellent since then

I can tell you one thing when users report 5-7hrs sot and you just get 2, you can't blame the phone something is wrong with the apps you have or with some syncing issue

I will post in those days, some screenshot about my battery usage, so you can understand.
However, i will reset the phone tonight, so we can check if it's something wrong with my apps.
It is the usage pattern that counts as well as the apps, theme and so on. Some might not use Facebook for ex that is known to heavily drain battery. Others might have dark/black themes that helps, or medium batery saving mode...there are hundreds of scenarios. One user that has his phone set on FHD+ resolution wil have the battery lasts longer than one that has it at WQHD. Some might have smartwatches and devices that require permanent BT on or high location settings. All these consume battery so just saying mine has that much SOT or it lasts that much time, means nothing.
For ex, in the print screens above mix197 had 13 hrs of standby with 2 hrs SOT...2 hrs of doing what? Cause there is no voice call (and he has VoLTE active that sucks battery), no navigation, no nothing. Read the Bible for 9 mins and browsed the internet for 20...and having 13 hrs of IDLE. That's a graphic showing night usage...probably lasted like this since he was sleeping and the phone too.
What I want to say is that don't bother to compare your new devices with others....eventualy compare it with your old devices since those had the same apps and usage pattern (mostly). And read how to improve on battery: use a dark theme, disable un-needed packages/bloatware...including but not limited to Gear VR, Gear S, Facebook, Bixby if you don;t use, ANT+ and so on...deactivate BT, or set the mobile data to turn off when on WiFi (is in dev settings as I recall and it's on by default to switch quicker from wifi to mobile data). All these will help you get some more battery

The only reason people try to compare is to know if theres a problem with their device. For the s9+ it is the case as some are reporting 6-7Hrs sot while others are reporting 2-3hrs
I still believe that usage pattern and applications makes the difference. Such comparison should reflect something if same person was doing the tests. As this is not the case, results may vary by a large margin as I said. Besides that, the difference in hardware might be the binning (as it was the case with Note 8 or S8/S8+ devices). Could be that devices with higher SOT have higher values for nAsv too so that would mean they're much more power efficient and have higher performance too.

That's why i started a thread called chip bin and benchmarks
Ok, i think that maybe there are some serious problem.
Only 1h and 30 of screen on, and already at 57% of battery.
Something goes wrong.
See screenshot attached

My screen is usually on top then it's Android System. How do I figure out what's causing my bad battery life?

Now you leave your phone for an hour or 2 untouched and see how it behaves. Look for partial wakelocks and alarms
