I have the phone on Vodafone Romania (CNX). It is available 4.1.2 for this region but I can't get ota update. I can't use a computer for the next 2 months. So help me guys please.

try to delete the data of samsung service framework..then reboot and try to get updates.
I red somewhere that sammy blocks ota updates...should be this the prob!

i have limited bandwidth and i downloaded the file mentioned in Samsung updates site
it only has a md5 file
is it possible to install this though odin
the site i refer has other fields in odin

You have to put the md5 in pda section of odin

if i installed this, and after wards when Samsung officially released jelly bean for my country , would i be able to use it
can i installed android 2.3 in same way by downloading from Samsung-updates .com if i encounter box problem or i didn't like it

you need to reflash back the official JB if there were any for your country again just like what you did now

Well go to manage apps and in the all section look for software update and clear the data and cache.
Reboot your device. Then try again
If anything it will update through kies unless you have it rooted or with a custom recovery

My phone is rooted, but i also tried with temporary unroot and I always get the same result, the phone stays in searching

Yes it says status modified (as it is rooted).
I am not surprised that I would never really get a fw update this way. But I guess that software update should give me some error message... whilst it does not give any result.
I would like to see what's the behaviour of this feature for somebody else who has a rooted stock fw... just to see if some message pops up or if it keeps on searching an infinite time...

I would not worry about it since you will not get any updates period as long as you have modified status.
Since your modified now, and the only way to go back is to factory restore and make sure your counter is at 0
Go and try a cool ROM like pandoriam

Never had that problem.. Try plugging into Kies and see if you can update like that.. Isn't BLL5 the most up to date firmware?

No way to update with official way. . You have to update with odin

I have the following issue, it's super annoying as the phone is 'blocking' a number from calling it to, even though the number is NOT on the blacklist

The other problem is that I also can NOT unlock the phone. I called AT&T and they gave me an unlock code, but the unlock code does NOT work on the phone.
For the unlock, I am not sure if it's cyanogen mod problem, or the unlock code is not the right code, but it's frustrating not being able to bring the phone to overseas.

It's not easy to explain in few words...
You can search in the development forum or at sammobile site for full instructions.
You basically need a software on your PC (Odin) and a ROM for your country (you'll find it on XDA or sammobile, FW section).

Xperiment 2.5 and a stock kernel. I had modifications but then I've tried to reinstall xperiment and kernel but still same issue
I think I'll try to do repair via pc

I already did and that didn't work, maybe it went bad. However I've flashed ICS through PC to force reformat of everything, no reboots yet but haven't tested extensively. Don't want to go back to JB if this fixes it.

I may try to unlock my bootloader and use doomkernel, if it doesn't work I'll relock bootloader and send back to Sony. The weird thing is that I never had this issue in past 5 months, it started like a week ago

did you notice that manipulating thermal throttling and that sys.cfg file didn't solve the problem of 'unstable performance"?!!!
it solved it for a day or two, but then it came back again
any other suggestion?

If you want higher clocks than this you need to add GPU perflevel, there's a thread in general discussing this, or you can use hybrid ROM which has this included.
