So I guess I just don't know what I'm doing anymore, and I need some help getting S-OFF on my One. I installed a 4.3 ROM and wanted to upgrade my firmware to 3.06.1700.10. To do this though, I saw I needed to have S-OFF.
I attempted S-OFF with both methods posted in the sticky. The revone method gave me "error code = 1", and the moonshine method fails to connect to ADB.
So I figured maybe I needed to revert to a compatible ROM to be able to get S-OFF. So I tried running the appropriate AT&T RUU utility, and it tells me the update failed and freezes on the HTC logo.
So both S-OFF methods failed, and the RUU failed. What do I need to do in order to get S-OFF so I can upgrade my firmware?
Forget it.

ok so I tried to follow regraw's s-off guide;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759955
when I try to flash unrevoked I get errors, so I tried to run the RUU he provided but I get errors with that too what now? or what am I doing wrong? I have the right version hboot & I'm currently running 2.3 if that matters in any way!!
figured it out
I'm trying to go back to stock ROM to do the OTA update. I have a bootloader that says the following ***TAMPERED***, ***UNLOCKED***, HBOOT- 1.44.000, RADIO04A.17.3250.20. Firmware is 1.27.531.11. I know that it also says S-ON even though I was S-OFF Before. I tried using moonshine to S-Off since I'm on 1.44 hboot. It did its process but still shows S-ON. Anytime I try to flash a firmware package it tells me FAILED (remote: 99 unknown fail). So I'm stuck. When I try to do a software update it will allow me to download, but I'm afraid to install as it may brick the phone. Any help?
Thanks
I'm on Tmobile US. CID says T-MO010
I have an AT&T HTC One that I have successfully bootloader unlocked and rooted.
I cannot get it to S-OFF
I have hboot 1.44 so I have tried both revone and Moonshine.
I have tried with the stock ROM (don't know what version): ./revone -P would give me error ID 2 and Moonshine would try 10 times with a failure of Don't drink and Shine!
I have tried with Android Revolution based on 4.4: ./revone -P would give me error ID 1 and Moonshine was unable to pass the 2nd ADB test (phone would freeze after rebooting)
I have tried with stock roms based on 4.2 and even on 4.1: ./revone -P would give me error ID -6 and Moonshine would try 10 times with a failure of Don't drink and Shine! I read that -6 was a matter of persistence, but I tried a hundred time on two different roms and had no success.
I read something somewhere that past a certain firmware, the exploit that allowed both revone and Moonshine to function was already patched. Is it impossible to S-OFF my phone now? I'm not 100% sure where to check my software version, but I am on the 4.1.2 Stock-based rom now and under About -> Software Information the Software number shows as 1.26.502.15
Anyone help?

Of course I ran across rumrunner in my searches here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2488772
But according to this post, the hboot must be version 1.54 or 1.55. It specifically says I must use revone or Moonshine if I am running 1.44. So I haven't tried it yet but I guess it can't hurt ...

Check date of bootloader, if it's before June 2013 then use the following ROM to get S-Off, using revone:
Android_Revolution_HD-One_9.4.zip 970.8 MB
https://mega.co.nz/#!aZkF2IIC!UIL4ww1y-bhTq4sQOEVjsi89pmI2GkwCPLMRDlNrrjM
MD5: 06c863ce41b0d5001290737a31e198a1
if the date of bootloader is June 2013 or later then it's a patched version, there's a downgrade method linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2431515

Thanks so much nkk. Looks like that is exactly my problem. My hboot shows July 5, 2013, so off to follow that guide and I'll let you know what happens.

I tried this but I kept getting error 155 when running the RUU program. I think that is because I had to relock my bootloader first and I didn't know that. Anyway, I got it working with hboot 1.44 now so I think that is better.

Well with persistence I finally got this to work.
There is another link farther down in your link which I think has easier to understand instructions:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45487258&postcount=55
However, the real key comes in step 3.
I got stuck on step 3 for a while because your link shows three different options for downloading. I assumed that all three were the same. Actually option A and C are the same (http://d-h.st/qEY). They seem to be a TWRP backup. I checked the md5 of my download and unzipped this file to the TWRP backup directory on my phone. But no matter what I tried it always failed to restore.
I finally figured out that option B is a different download (https://mega.co.nz/#!vwJGhYjb!A6D3TjhtSxhPOQwYJZR373gH418YeN3hTfC6uSgJSZA) and it is actually a ClockworkMod backup even though it is labeled as TWRP. So I flashed ClockworkMod to my recovery and unzipped this download to the ClockworkMod backup directory on my phone. I was then able to successfully restore this backup and downgrade my phone to 1.26.502.10.
After that I just had to relock my bootloader, and use the RUU file to get to 1.26.502.12.
I then unlocked the bootloader again, flashed TWRP to my recovery again, and used that to root the 1.26.502.12 install.
I was then able to finally use revone successfully to S-OFF the phone, remove the tampered tag from the bootloader, and set my SUPERCID.
Finally, I installed Android Revolution 41 mod running Android 4.4 and everything is working great!
Thanks!
Hi all,
When I first got my M7, I unlocked it and installed TWRP to make backups. I had experience doing this with my sensation and followed the guides posted here. When the Sense 6 update came out, I wanted to update, so I was tried using REVONE to remove the TAMPERED and UNLOCKED but it set it to RELOCKED. Apparently, it wasn't compatible with the android version 4.4.2, which I realized too late.
Now, I'm trying to get S-OFF and unlock the bootloader so I can flash an 4.2 rom, then use REVONE and go back to stock. I've tried using nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock, but neither Firewater nor Rumrunner will work with my device (HBOOT 1.56) - they both finish early and tell me I'm out of luck.
What's the next possibility? I'm in Asia with the TW stock rom. I can probably bring it to the store and let them handle it, but it'll take up to 7 days to get it completely back to stock. Is there anything else I can try before doing that?
tl;dr: Phone is Stock ASIA TW rom & recovery, HBOOT 1.56, *TAMPERED*, *RELOCKED*, and *S-ON*. Can't flash OTA or get S-OFF with Firewater.
EDIT: Nevermind. Seem to have soft-bricked my phone while attempting to install ARHD. Now no OS and can't load anything except TWRP. ADB Sideload doesn't work, ADB push doesn't work. Guess I'll bring it to the store and see if they can fix it.

If it's not too late, I have been in this situation before. I bought an OTG cable and downloaded a stock ROM guru reset. From there, I successfully S-OFFed my device with HBOOT 1.56 using the firewater method.
Hope this helps
Hello,
I recently rooted my M8 and have run into difficulties trying to run the GPE 5.0.1 ROM. I have TWRP installed and have no issues installing the GPE Rom itself, however, when I try to use WIFI the radio doesnt turn on and is unresponsive. Doing a little research I found it was due to my old firmware. So I tried to install the newest Firmware from the thread on M8 Android Dev, but when I try to use the RUU and the FUU, my phone is not recognized by the software. I tried to flash via HBOOT and it just asks me to reset my phone and doesn't do anything. Since I was S-ON I made sure I was using the full firmware for all of the methods, but it wouldn't work. So I tried to S-OFF my phone to see if that would help, but Firewater has been discontinued and I can't get Sunshine to run on my rom, so I am unable to S-OFF. I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to how I could get my phone S-OFF as well as to the new firmware.
Thank you.
You have to be running a stock rom when you use Sunshine
