Hello, I recently got a Fonepad (Yes I know this is the N7 fourms) and its charger came with the HK head. Seeing that the AC adapter is modular, Does a website/somewhere sell the head (Whatever the part you plug in is called) to plug into the AC adapter?
The reason I'm posting here is that both our devices have same, if not very similar AC adapters.

im traveling to europe where they have 220V power outlets, can i use the mt3g's charger to charge the phone (provided i have the adapter for a plug) without frying the phone?
does it come with a built-in power transformer like laptops do?
check your charger. If it reads "Input 120-240V" you can safely use it anywhere in the world as long as you have plug adapter for the wall outlet. Also simple USB cable would work with any computer as well
USB Chargers are nice
I travel to India and Singapore a lot. I first purchased an Amzer USB charger that comes with all the plugs you need for international traveling. It charges all of my stuff like ipod, phone, even my PSP. But there is even one better. Amazon has a 4 port one that will take 4 usb devices at the same time. You just have to remember to take the usb cables. If you think 4 is way overkill, consider what people tend to travel with these days. I'm going for the 4 port one by Kensington next. Check it out at http://tinyurl.com/yjfbq4o .
Hi,
I purchased an official Samsung "Travel" charger from my Tab. I expected to receive a mains adaptor with interchangeable plugs (e.g. Euro, GB, US etc), and another USB cable.
However, when I opened it up, I had a mains adaptor, a GB plug, and a USB cable.
According to all the packaging, this is correct - however, as far as I'm concerned this isn't a "Travel" charger - it's just a spare charger.
I'm ok with it as I've plenty of GB-to-EU and GB-to-UK adaptors, but I thought it worthwhile posting a warning that this isn't really what it is advertised to be.
Regards,
Dave

Pretty much all of the "compact" AC adaptors get referred to as "travel" chargers, it's nothing new, Nokia have been doing it for years, and theirs don't even have interchangeable plugs on them. Not that you can buy the plug part of them separately anyway so I'm not sure why they make them removable other than for their own benefit.
It basically means that it will work across voltage differences without blowing up
So far, the best thing I found is this:
4 port USB AC adapter
It has all standard electric adapters, is very compact, has 4 USB slots (so you can use it for other stuff too) and the price is great.
Also, I checked with the seller - it will charge the Tab normally, but in that case you can't use other USB slots. The charger gives 5V 2A, shared among the 4 ports. If you use just one slot, that one gets all the juice. If you plug in 2 devices, the power is split among them etc.

So does the standard charger, because it is identical!

Do you have a link Dave, I'm looking to purchase a USB Mains plug with a USB to 30 pin cable for the Tab.
I was really disappointed by this too.
However, the section of the adapter with the UK pins should slide off (slide it up). Then you can plug a standard 2 pin AC cable into the adapter - like those which come with printers. The pins adapters are supposedly available to make these a true travel adapter but I have yet to find them anywhere.
Much to my amazement I discovered that the charger for my new Sony RX100 pocket camera also charges the Nexus 7!
I don't know about you, but the assortment of connections, adapters, power cables and chargers can be intimidating to keep straight.
Maybe there are others that would work too, but the accident of plugging in the wrong charger amazed me.
Nexus 7 just uses a standard microUSB cable so any cable from a modern device made by a company that isn't obsessed with proprietary chargers should work.
You're right on, I agree

It's not that simple. While MicroUSB is indeed standard, not all cables will work on all devices. A friend of mine has a Nexus 7, and it is very picky about what cables and power sources it will charge from. I just got a Sony HX20V and am running into the same problem. It will not charge if I use the iGo AC charger that I have been using for my phones for the last 2 years, my retractable USB-MicroUSB cable, or my AT&T-branded car charger. So far, it has only charged with the cables that came with my Captivate and Galaxy Nexus, plugged into a computer or their corresponding AC adaptor.
I have this Griffin Dual USB PowerJolt Car Charger and its been working perfectly on all my devices, Playbook, Blackberry 9900, Samsung Galaxy S3, iPhone 3G, iPad 2 and many others but for some reason, this charger just don't want to work with my Nexus 7. I don't know why its so picky and wondering if you guys could help me identify the problem and preferably with a good working solution.
I tried opening it up and follow the advice from http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-m...m_ciu_pdp_images_0?ie=UTF8&index=0&isremote=0. Both pins are already been soldered together but the Nexus still isn't charging!!
This makes me wonder where's the USB standard? How are some device / chargers so picky? What did the manufacturers do to prevent charging on other devices or charging through a non compatible charger?

You may get flamed for this question because chargers have been discussed a LOT in this particular forum. It seems that none of the discussions show up on the first page at the moment.
Do some searching here for chargers but let me refer you to one of the better threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791717

Thanks a lot. I did read up all the posting regarding the USB charging issue on the N7 but I still can't find the answers. I read about people having the Griffin PowerJolt and not able to charge their device.
After downloading the Battery Monitor Widget and plugging to my Griffin PowerJolt (short D+, D-), the device is charging (estimate: 384mA) but still not showing as charging. It shows Discharging and Unplugged. I don't think its the USB cable since the cable works on my PC.
So what causes this issue?

It doesn't matter why, just that your Griffin does not do a good job of charging. If you want more either buy oem or any charger designed to work with Samsung, those devices should work better.

I guess I still blame on the N7 for being so "picky" since the Griffin USB charger charges ALL devices, including iPad, Playbook, Samsung S3, iPhone and Blackberry but just not N7.

Yep, the Nexus 7 is picky. No question about it. But your chargert *does* charge your Nexus 7, the Nexus just doesn't indicate it's charging.
Personally, I bought two KMASHI chargers from Amazon. It's a 5V 2A charger and it works great. Charges at greater than 1Ah and the N7 indicates it's charging. Won't charge an iPad but it works for me. The one I bought is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XQYH1G but it shows as unavailable now. I suspect the other KMASHI chargers will work the same, though.

It charges it but its slow. Being rated at 1A, its can only charge at 300mA+ so its rather disappointing plus the charging isn't consistent. Sometimes when I plug in, it will charge, sometimes not so its another disappointment. But I guess I quickly adapt it and don't bother too much now.
I can still use my in car Head Unit with a build in USB port. At least I am getting 400mA+ and it shows as charging so I am ok

Ive been recommending this Sprint 2A dual usb charger to everyone. Its a OEM charger so you can expect a high quality product that works as it should and it puts out the required juice to rapidly charge the N7. It also has the added benefit of doubling as a wall charger. Ive had mines for about a week so I can confirm it does indeed work! http://www.ebay.com/itm/130712043019?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1459wt_1399
Hey All.. I looked forever to find a solution. The Targus 2A car charger has a small (3") adapter cable that comes with it purportedly for Galaxy Tab. That little cable with the data wires shorted on the device end allows the N7 to be charged from ANY 2A car charger. I'm using the adapter with a Scosche dual 2.1 Amp Car Charger

Edit: I just built a usb cable with the data wires shorted on the Nexus end (cut, strip, short micro usb end green and white, remake connections red to red and black to black, insulate splices individually, wrap all in electrical tape or heat shrink for strength and beauty) and it works with all chargers. Took about 20 minutes.
Hello guys. I use a standard 5V 2.0A charger at work with the original Samsung micro USB cable, I also have a Xiaomi type-C converter. Most of the times my Nexus 5X says charging rapidly! So my question is, is it safe to use? Can it harm my device? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
It won't hurt it, in fact it'll charge slower. So should create less heat and be better for it. Use ampere to check actual rates. The Nexus 5x c to c charger is rated higher than that. Slower is rarely ever bad, faster can be the issue
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
No it won't but stock charger is more powerful (2.0 A vs 3.0 A)
I use a Samsung charger with a Type A to type C cable for overnight charging as I don't need it to charge rapidly while I'm sleeping. My cable is certified to comply with the standards though. Don't know if that Xiaomi type-C converter is or needs to be.
As said by @ideaman924, if it says Charging Rapidly, there's problem. Phone thinks it's connected to full-fledged USB Type-C cable which can handle more current than your microUSB cable with converter on the end (3A vs 2A).
AFAIK, it means there's bad/missing resistor in converter and thus it is NOT safe to use. And definitely not safe to charge with all night.
Example: For overnight charging I use Samsung's 5V 1A charger with Anker' a USB A to USB Type-C cable and phone says only Charging. However, when connected to stock Type-C to Type-C charger, it says "Charging Rapidly". That's how it should work.
So, head over to Amazon and buy ONLY Benson Leung certified cable. If you don't know him, Google his name -- he tests USB Type-C cables and made spreadsheet.
Where did you get that Samsung charger from? I had that same issue but it was with a 2.0a Samsung charger that came from Amazon that ended up being a fake, as with almost all the "genuine OEM" chargers sold on eBay/amazon. On a regular tablet it would output just under 2a. (I measured it once something like 1.88 or something IIRC) However, once connected to a co-workers 5X though it said charging rapidly and got very hot very quickly. It got binned after that. I don't use cheap chargers anymore.
Dont know if yours is a fake or not, but if you didn't get it with a new phone, I'd be suspect of it.
I prefer using the original one since boot loop issues
if your phone explode don't blame the LG
