What else do you expect?
Reply almost says it all

Perhaps a more "complete" answer.
Generic widgets (the stock Android widgets and most of the ones available through the play store) will run on any launcher.
Vendor specific widgets (HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG, Sony) will only run on the vendor's stock launcher (almost always).
Aftermarket launchers (Nova, Apex, ADW, etc.) will only run their own built-in widgets.
Hopefully this clears things up for you.

ADW Launcher

I would love use ADW launcher but I can't access the factory widgets on my Samsung Galaxy S (Sprint Epic 4G). Does anyone know how to access them through ADW launcher? A couple of examples are, Buddies Now and Feed and Updates. Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no way (as of yet, possibly never). Samsung has tied the widgets to their launcher only.

It's not just Samsung. Can't use HTC widgets with third party launchers either.

HTc does the same with the Sense widgets and I'm 60% sure Moto does the same with the Blur widgets. It's not uncommon unfortunate
i was able to install the LG widgets without the need of the launcher....do you think someone can rip the widgets off the samsung or htc phones and install it without the launcher?
Lg made standard android widgets, good guys.
Motorola made "almost standard" widgets, almost good guys.
Samsung/htc/launcher pro made "non widgets", but little pieces of code that you can add to their respective home apps. If they doesn't appear inside the pick widget list (that's generated by android system) they are not "android widgets". No more discussion

[Q] Launcher With No App Drawer?

I love the simplicity of having no app drawer and integrated folders with the MIUI rom, but now that we have more gingerbread (thanks developers), I wanna try some other roms. I always lose apps in the app drawer and I know it bloats up my phone. If possible, is there any way to install the MIUI launcher in another rom (or just remove the app drawer from another launcher)? Or is it too deeply integrated to simply install the same way as something like launcher pro? I don't care about the ability to theme or whatever, I just want an app-drawer-free launcher.
Bump!
Isn't there any good launcher for CM7 without an app drawer? I find it annoying to the extreme like the MIUI launcher or ifone *blasphemy*

Here's a dark horse - "Simple Home" from LG!
I couldn't believe it myself...
After months of loving MIUI, and hating the drawer again after upgrading to Evervolv 4.1.2, I found Simple Home, a iOS-like drawer-less app launcher developed by LG, with an install footprint of only 2-3 Mb (versus MIHome's 20Mb payload).
LG? Really?!?!?

[Q] any way to change the number of 'home' screens??

I just got my new, customized Moto X in the mail and so far I love it with a few exceptions. Most notable of these is the fact that I appear to be stuck with the stock 5 screens. I prefer a very streamlined UI with my phone and so in my past Android phones I've only had a home screen and one extra.
Is there any possible way to change the number of screens in the stock operating system? I have flashed different roms in the past with other phones but I think I am going to avoid that with this phone at all costs because I have almost all of the features I would want in a custom ROM already.
any help would be appreciated! And yes, I have already tried searching for this issue and I can't seem to find any solutions. I feel like this is a pretty standard feature that I have seen in almost all other newer Android phones.
Do yourself a favor and use Nova launcher or Apex launcher.

I guess I'll have to check one of these out. I had GOlauncher ex and then ADW launcher on my previous phone but it was android 2.Xxx (or rather, a custom ROM based on android 2.4something) so I assume there are much cleaner, more advanced launchers out by now. I just wanted to make sure the stock UI couldn't be modified in any way by a setting that was hiding from me before I ventured out into launchers and/or ROMs.
Thanks!

[Q] OEM Launcher on Nexus 6?

Simply wondering if anyone can get the Touchwiz or LG Launcher on their Nexus 6. Specifically looking for one from the Note 4 or G3, seeing that they're both 1440 launchers.
That, or a simple launcher that gives you the ability to change grids in the drawers and add folders in the drawers. Thank you! (hopefully no one has posted about this, I couldn't find anything close.)
BTW: Simply installing the TouchWiz does not work. Have not tried with the G3 launcher.

Nova launcher has all those features.

Better Launcher for Z3C?

I am getting tired of annoying features of the Sony launcher, like "suggested apps" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/how-to-remove-search-bar-xperia-home-t3355603).
I'd love to get some opinions about alternative launchers with the following attributes:
* simple, uncluttered, minimalist appearance
* customizable, to make it even simpler
* esthetically clean and elegant (no graphic or color overload)
You get the idea!
Thanks,
JM
I have installed Nova launcher from October 1, 2014 in the Z3C.

+1 on nova launcher, been using it for years now.
Another vote for Nova.
Nova is nice, but Apex launcher has nearly identical features without requiring upgrades to the paid app. Plus, I think it's just a hair lighter on system resources.

Thank you all for chiming in! I installed Nova, but will try Apex as well and report back.

the launcher itself is great, only a few things, which are editable ( Disappear for example ) are needed. Tried the google now launcher and apex and were disappointed so i decided to mod the stock launcher to my wish
Nova launcher :3

And how did you "mod" the stock launcher? And what feature(s) did you mod?

Actually, when you dont know how to edit apks its the easiest way to use serjars xposed module ( Dont got the link right know, have to look it up and edit it in ) Requires root and a working recovery
Makes the whole appearence editable ( Icon Numbers in the Home Dock, Grid sizes and dont know what else.
Even the app suggestions are stuck in the past.
As Promised : http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xposed-serajr-xperia-home-x-mm-v1-0-0-t3360895
