[MOD] Change 4G/H+/H/3G icons on your BUTTERFLY S - HTC Butterfly S

So guys ,
i've created this Mod to set Static Operator Icons (like iOS) .
In my opinion, static icons are more beautiful and these icons especially with great design for the graphic design. I don't like the tipical android operator icons with arrows up and down and bad resolution .
4G becomes LTE
H+ become H+(with checkmark)
no preview for now
H becomes H (with checkmark )
3g becomes 3G (restiled)
(all this icons, and others more, are natively contained inside Stock HTC Rom ...)
How to :
1.use the Root Explorer on your phone and navigate to the System/App folder, now COPY your SystemUI.apk to the SDCard folder.
2.Now plug your phone to your computer. I would suggest copying the SystemUI.apk to your Desktop and keep it as a backup, then copy another one to your Desktop for editing purposes.
3.Once you have copied one to your desktop, right click on it, and click on 7-Zip -> Open Archive. Navigate to res -> drawable-xxhdpi. Now Unzip the zip file you just downloaded from here, then drag those files here attached (without their folders) to the 7Zip window that you opened up. Click yes to overwrite, wait for the process to finish, then close the window.
4.Now copy that SystemUI.apk that it's in your desktop (your edited one) and paste it back to your phone's SDCard and overwrite the one that's there.
5.Now, open Root Explorer App, on the top, click where is says Mount R/W. Scroll down and tap on the sdcard folder. Find the SystemUI.apk, long press it then press copy. After that, press back, then go to the System/App folder. Once again, press the Mount R/W button, if it says Mount R/O then don't press that. Then simply paste the SystemUI.apk and hit yes when it asks you to overwrite it.
SystemUI might crash, don't worry about it.
6.After Device respring itself , return to Root Explorer App, Scroll down and find the newly upgraded SystemUI.Apk in the System/App folder, (be sure it says Mount R/O then don't press that) long press it and press Permissions.
Now set your permissions like this
X=Checked
O= Unchecked
X----X-----X
X----O----O
X----O----O
After that just Restart your phone!
That's it!

thx, will try it

thank
thanks for this

How to change icon apps on the app drawer? (rooted)

I'm trying to change the icons on the app drawer with Root Explorer but I can't find the correct PNG to replace that on the system/app/"application.apk"/res/drawable/_____.png
Anyone knows the right name of the icon?
Thanks!
res/drawable-hdpi/file_manager_r.png ypu will have to turn the apk into a zip then put your new file into the hdpi folder and change the zip back to an apk then re install
Can I follow this steps with the Captivate or I need to do this on the computer?
Any easy way?
Thanks for the tip!
hi, i changed an image in drawable-hdpi in "phone.apk" (ic_jog_dial_unlock.png) like aceman said, but if i try to install new phone.apk it says "application not installed" (or something similar, my language phone is not english). how can i install new phone.apk??
I tried to istall it from recovery and there is the same result
thanks
You have to push the phone.apk file into /system/app with a root explorer or adb. Just installing it won't work like most other apks.
i have "root browser", can i use it? can u say to me all the steps i have to do with it or adb? i'm not an android expert user...
up...anyone ca help me?
install a different launcher app that lets you customize it. try launcherpro from the android market.
you wont understand the mod instructions.
screw it here they are...
mod instructions... basic if you need more info. learn to search there are 4000 guides on how to change an app image.
you need winrar on windows. if you arent running windows you should know better.
use root level file manager to go to 'system/app' folder and copy your launcher.apk to sdcard.
copy to PC
right click .apk > open with... > choose program > WinRar
look through folders inside APK and copy all folders with .PNG images to desktop (or work folder)
look through the images in the folders (change veiw to thumbnails) and find the name of the image you want to change and the name of the folder it was in.
Go get, or create your custom image, and name it that name. **Close to original shape size.
Use winRar to open the .APK again and naviage to the place where your image goes and drop the new one into that folder.
A window with options will come up and select Compression Profile : STORE
Click ok
Close winrar.
Copy .apk to SDcard
Use root file manager to rename original /system/app/launcher.apk to launcher.apk.bak (backup)
Then copy your modded .apk to /system/app.
Reboot (pull battery)
DONT MESS WITH ANY IMAGE ENDING IN .9.PNG only regular .pngs
for more on .9.pngs... search google.. what is ....
i*have*to*modify*phone.apk,*no*launcher.apk..*i*just*did*steps*you*sayd,*but*if*i*try*to*rename*phone.apk,*my*nexus*goes*in*full*crash
fist off this is the Captivate forums. not nexus.
and i was giving help to OP question not yours. either way the *stars*and*sp ac*es are friggin annoying. use your computer if your phone is messed up.
if you "tried" to modify the name... DID IT? try doesnt tell me much.
if it wouldnt let you, then nothing changed and your phone is screwed up from something else.
if it DID rename, then CHANGE IT BACK.. duh.
sorry for space and *, i wrote it with the mouse using google translate keybord and i saw them when i cut/past the text
i "tried" to rename phone.apk, so the phone went in a full crash and i had to restore system using an old backup in recovery

Try apktool to extract all replace wteva ocon u want to and rebuild apk using the same tool and u need to sign the apk usin signapk tool so that device can recognise the.apk file for installation. I have done this and everything went fine in galaxy note. But i couldn't locate the file to rename the icon. Icon changing was not a prob.

Get ics animations on any rom...!!!!

i am just copying and pasting capez's work all... credits goes to him
here's the guide...
1) First of all, you need to download and install APK MANAGER:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
2) Extract with WinRAR, from the ROM you want to modify, the file framework-res.apk, that you can find in the directory \System\framework\.
3) Go to the apk manager folder and place the framework-res.apk file in the folder "place-apk-here-for-modding".
4) In the apk manager folder, double click on the file "Script". A cmd window will open.
5) Where it says "Please make your decision", write "22" and enter. Then enter "1" and enter. Then enter "9" and enter.
The script will decompile the framework-res.apk.
6) Now go to your apk manager folder, go to Projects\framework-res.apk\res\anim\.
In this folder there are the animations of your rom. They consist in some .xml files decompiled.
7) Download this:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1qjwtotg1r8umm1
8) Copy the files from the folder "anims" of the zip downloaded into the anim folder and you are asked to replace the files; choose yes. Then copy also the files from the folder "other_files" to the anim folder.
9) Now go to your apk manager folder, go to Projects\framework-res.apk\res\values\. Edit the file integers.xml and put these two lines under the line of "shortAnimTime":
<integer name="config_activityShortDur">150</integer>
<integer name="config_activityDefaultDur">220</integer>
Save.
10) Return to Script. Enter "11" and enter.
The script will rebuild the framework-res.apk.
11) You are asked if this is a system application. Enter "y" and enter. Then a second question appears. Enter newly "y".
12) Then after it processes, Don't press anything & DON'T CLOSE THIS WINDOW!!! A new folder "keep" is created in the apk manager folder. Go inside it and delete the file "resources.arsc". Now go inside keep\res\anim\ and delete every file with the same name as every file of the "anims" folder of the zip downloaded.
Then return to Script and press enter. It processes, then if everything went ok, in the folder "place-apk-here-for-modding" a file "unsignedframework-res.apk" is created. Copy it outside and rename it "framework_res.apk".
13) Now you can create a flashable zip or you can simply push it to your system.
CONGRATRULATIONS!!! YOU ARE DONE!!!
And if you think this tutorial is useful, CLICK THANKS!!!

edit 2 : sorry for the first edit i was mistaken,it works great
Probably better suired in Android themes and apps
good tutorial! But I suggest you to mention that IT NEEDS to resign the apk after the tutorial is finished....we need to take the META-INF from the res apk decompiled, then open the unsigned apk, delete its META-INF and paste the META-INF from the original framework-res.apk...otherwise it won't work!
Interesting, thanks.
Very nice, thanks for details.

How to remove background color from apps

Hey guys,
you might have discovered that on your Mate 7 all app icons (that shouldn't have a background) have a background set by your phone.
However, this does not always look good (in my opinion at least) - so I tried to fix it.
There is basically a simple solution to it which I want to share with you here.
Requirements
7zip or any other similar tool on your computer
A file manager app on your phone that supports accessing the whole file system (for example "FX File Explorer")
My solution will probably work with other apps and programs too but I will only describe it for these exact ones.
Part 1: Copying the theme to an accessible location
Copying a preinstalled theme
Open FX File Explorer on your phone. Locate the System category and open it.
Navigate to /system/themes and copy the file you wish to modify. (long press -> copy). The default theme is "Golden.hwt"
Now go back to the main window in FX.
Go to Main Storage and paste the file there. (click on "CLIPBOARD" in the top right corner and click paste in the sidebar that just opened)
Copying a user-installed theme
For user-installed themes this process is optional and mostly unnecessary. However, I will explain it anyway:
Open FX File Explorer on your phone. Locate the Main Storage category and open it
Navigate to HWThemes and copy the file you wish to modify. This time you might have to copy all the .hwt files because they aren't named the same as the theme.
Step 3 and 4 are the same as for preinstalled themes.
Part 2: Modifying the theme
Connect your phone to your computer. Open it with explorer or the file manager you have installed if you are not using Windows.
In the folder Internal Storage you should now find the themes you copied in part 1. Move them to your computer.
For user-installed themes you have to locate the correct theme first. To do that, you have to open each file with 7zip and look for the name in the file description.xml inside the zip (The name is always the entry "title")
Once you have found the correct theme, open it with 7zip. then doubleclick on icons inside the zip.
Download the universal transparent icon pack from the attachment. Open it in a seperate window of 7zip.
Copy all the files in the downloaded zip to the image folder in the theme.
Now navigate up one directory inside the theme zip. Open the file description.xml again and change the name inside the title tag. (Example: <title>XYZ</title> -> <title>XYZ_modified</title>
Close 7zip and copy the file back to your device. YOU HAVE TO PLACE IT IN THE "HWThemes" FOLDER!
Now you can enable the theme just like you activate any other theme (in the Designs app)
Congratulations, you have removed the icon backgrounds from your theme.
Sorry if my english is not that good... It's not my native language
I tried this on Ascend G6 (EMUI3.0).
Srangly enough, it works for some icons, but some icons (not the stock ones!) still have a coloured added background.

you might have discovered that on your Mate 7 all app icons (that shouldn't have a background) have a background set by your phone.
