I had really nothing to do in summer and all I did was eat chips and act if I was like a walrus. But deciding I didn't want to be the lazy person I am u decided to start a project. I had a few computer speakers laying around that sounded better than the note 2. So what I did was I went to home depot and bought some wood measured speaker sizes after ripping everything and putting everything back together so that I only needed a a case. So with my wood I just chopped a bit here and there made a box made a handle and after using a zigsaw to cut the headphone holes this is what I have. It was stained and painted too. It's actually nothing really cool but it worth ur time in my opinion. Oh and u also made a mouth for this so I can fit my note 2. Also you can add a blue tooth receiver which soon I will do

I remember making things like this in tech class in high school. I made a small amplifier to increase sound levels for my headphones. Everyone always asked how I got my headphones so loud..haha.. those were the days.
This would be a nice project with burlwood, internal 20 Watt amp and polished dark stained wood...maybe some acoustic engineering for included speakers and maybe a sub woofer....if done nicely it could be a good kick-starter project?, I know we have enough engineering tech and know-how on XDA to do it?

Compared to a 1.6L 4 cylinder engine, it's about twice as loud as an idling one, and maybe 60% as loud when it is revving. It's very hard to visualise for me, but the speaker is reasonably loud. I think the cardboard enclosure is absorbing more vibrations than it should though.

I have never used those on a device and don't see myself using them in the future. I suppose if you work in a dusty and dirty environment they may come in handy. But I myself have no need for them.
I can see how those can be useful. When I had my iphone, the port and headphone jack were full of lint from being inside the pocket.
I won't buy them though only because it would be a nuisance to have to remove them every time to charge the device or to listen to music with headphones. Those little plugs would get lost really quickly.

Exactly! I sometimes look at my phones and see all the tiny little dirt particles in my audio jack and wonder if it's bad for the port? lol It would be awesome to be able to protect the charging and audio ports from dust etc, but there has to be a more pleasant way of doing so without having to keep up with tiny little rubber pieces.

I definitely want to check these out for my devices. (I'm assuming that they made them for other devices, too.) I've damaged two phones in the past because the usb port leads got wet in the rain, near a leak, or whatever. Damn...make that three phones.
I would welcome those to protect my device. Specially the headphone jack when you are using the phone when its raining.
I have been using the Jedi series and love the lightsaber sounds when removing Spen. Even when I flash any rom I have to have my sabers sounds.
So here is my idea someone make me a lightsaber Spen to go with the sound. Little black handle and clear on top with your pick of color. How freaking sweet would that be? Patent pending.....<--1/22/2013 lol

lol with some glow in the dark paint.
Patent pending? Good luck battling disney for that one.
badass Idea! I'd pay for that... even a cheap light guide clear pen with an led in the handle would be sick as fzuck!
Better hurry up on that patent application - we are going to a first to file regime next month - discontinuing the first person to invent!?! Your publication might might trigger a 1 year grace period 1/22/2014... but still.
This seems like more of a design patent though vs. utility.
Those pictures of lightsabre pens attached might make some damn good prior art.
WHILE not a lightsaber pen - check out the yespen-s1 plus ... it's only really marketed in Korea... but it's on ebay sometimes for about $50... stylus, real ink, usb sdhc memory stick, bluetooth headset, handsfree, and a2dp (earpiece, speakerphone loudspeaker, 3.5mm headset plug)... would be sick to pipe out lightsaber sounds to the pen so the pen is actually emitting the e.g. "Swoooshzhhhz" Plus it does have a multicolored LED already in it. No accelerometer but the phone could detect strokes on the screen and responsively a2dp push a particular audio file according to speed, length, direction of pen swipe.

Hi, i've bought the retro phone style to use with my phone. And I got a problem, whenever i try to plug it in, my sgn2 it recognizes it as headphones, and when i try to call with it i only get the speaker sound, but the microphone is dead, does anyone know what to do?
Links would help people understand what you're talking about.

Yeah, need a link for an exact thing. I assume its a connection through headphone jack, just like any headphones with built in mic/remote. In theory it should be the same thing just a fancy replacement of headphone with some analog style retro phone?!? I would suggest to check your 3.5mm connector. Typically those will be partitioned into headphone/mic/control sections. The section for speaker on that connector is working ok, while the one for mic is not. Probably ask for a replacement? Also, if you have stock headphones or any other headphones with mic to pickup calls, test it out with your phone to make sure its not your phone connector problem.

Hi, I was very curious about these headphones, so I ordered a set from EBAY from Korea. They are not that good at all, very poor bass response, feel somewhat cheap and fit poorly. If you are on the fence about getting these, don't bother.
try moving them around in your ear, bit tricky then you can hear the bass. So far they are the best I ever had with a phone (Iphone, Samsung), actually better then all the plugs I had.
The thick wires also untangle like a charm.

They came in the box with my D802.
Tried them, put them back in the box, and ordered some good in-ear set.
The Quadbeats 2 are just horrible! no where close to the quality of the ones that came with the HTC One.

Lol didn't you get the memo? Apple should market their earbuds as "Intelligent Dual-Purpose (earbud + makeshift speaker) Headsets". When you're by yourself in a quiet space, they are painfully loud. When you're in a loud place with lots of other people, they leak sound like oil from the Exxon Valdez. It's basically impossible to listen to anything in class; everyone else can hear what you're listening to.
Anyways, I haven't tried Samsung, but however bad the Quadbeats are they MUST be far superior to those dreaded Apple earphones.

Agreed, though I like the over all sound from the apple head phones over the quadbeats
I just tried mine tonight, compared with my now a few years old Sennheiser cx300 (I think) in ears. Have to say I prefer the sound on the Quadbeat 2's right now. Definitely a bit lighter on bass, but overall a lot more clear. Very impressed for a pair of headphones included for free in the box!
Also, the phone volume for music can go a lot louder with the Quadbeats in for some reason too.
Combined with Viper XHifi I'm damn happy.

I have long been an audiophile for many years and have lived through the advacements from tubed systems through the 7 and 11 transistor radios to what is available today for 10s of thousands of dollars. Everyones hearing is different and what sounds like velvet to me may sound like fingernails being dragged across the chalk board to you. As such, you will either like these or not. I like them, a lot. Worth every penney I paid for them and I use Sennheisers in my home. For the price, these are more than adequate for the task when I am out and about. Of course I listen to Pink Floyd and not to Waka Flocka, and Bach instead of ..... Well, you get the idea.

No, it tells you that that is his preference. The general feeling on the Quadbeats 2 is very positive for bundled earphones.
I talk to a lot people that think in-ear monitors, on the whole, don't have any bass. These same people generally don't know how to fit them properly. There's a reason most IEMs include multiple tips. The wearer must find the right size and style of tip to properly seal in the ear canal. Some folks are lucky and can get good fit from a medium mushroom single flange. Others (myself and my son included) need to customize for best fit and comfort.
Some of the most compelling sound reproduction I've ever heard came out of a set of cheap customized wood (Altec?) IEMs.

I know, I need a smaller sized plug on my right ear than I do my left, looks weird if anyone ever borrows them, but they're my ears dammit. For what they are (free in my box!) or if bought, a cheap pair oh earphones, they are a very decent bit of kit. Anyone expecting world beating results is looking in the wrong place however.

Awfull
I received my LG G2 yesterday with Quadbeats 2 and I must say they are the worst in-ear I've ever tried.
They probably go to the trashcan, nobody would want them.
I've tried with all the plug sizes, and the medium size fits really well, but the sound...:crying:
If I raise the volume to 40%, just when you are expecting to "feel" the bass, the sound will start to break up, just like a couple of busted speakers.
My set must be broken, since I can not see how this would be an improved version of Quadbeats, since they are utterly crap.
Given the general overall opinion on them from other sites as well is positive, then yes, maybe they were faulty. But to suggest yourself that they may be faulty, but then also say they are crap is contradictory.

QuadBeat 2
hey guys, I'm not sure if I'm having problem with my quadbeats 2. I'm having channel imbalance. left side always louder than right. Is this normal or is my quadbeat 2 spoilt?
So, the sales rep at the Sprint store told me that the headphones bundled with the Harman Kardon HTC m8 were great headphones. Since the beats audio headphones that came bundled with the m7 were probably my favorite headphones ever, I decided to give these ones a shot.
Quite frankly, I think they suck. I think they're definitely headed on the right track (ie. +/- volume buttons, pause/end call button & the little sliding piece that can be detached), but these were definitely a miss for me. If I take a single step, these things fall right out of my ears. I've tried every size ear bud that they came with and to no avail; these are pretty much useless to me unless I'm stationary, which is rare. I miss being able to answer my phone with a single button.
What do you guys think of these headphones?
P.S. Anyone want to trade me their m7 headphones for the Harman Kardon ones?

Same here. Maybe we just have...weird ears...lol. The only way they stay in for me is by using the smallest size covers and then jamming them into my ears...which will work for 20 or 30 minutes but they eventually work themselves loose just by the movement of my head. Which is usually a relief since my head has started to hurt from having them jammed in there by then anyway...
Mine are neatly packed up with the rest of my $5- $10 earbud headphones.....

Well... Seeing as I lost my m7 headphones, and am doubtful I'll find another pair that's just as good without spending a pretty penny... I'm just rocking these ones. Even though it's kinda miserable, what is an audiophile to do? Being an audiophile is half the reason I fell in love with the 'one series' in the first place.
But it's nice to know I'm not the only one that feels like they swindled me with some cheap $5 headphones lol...

Honestly, for the past few months I've found that cheap earbuds that I pick up from Best Buy and such just won't fit my ears properly. At least both at the same time. I've got some $15 Sony earbuds that fit perfectly in my right ear, but the left ear just slips right out, and even when it's nestled in my ear as snug as possible, I get absolutely no bass. This was the case with the Harmon Kardon earbuds until like a few days ago, when they just magically started fitting my ears pretty nicely. I always, always have to start with the right ear, placing it in a certain way and then pressing it in until it feels practically stuck, then moving onto the left earbud which fits perfectly. Don't know what kinda black magic was preventing me from wearing them comfortably before (I pretty much had the same experience as the Sony ones I mentioned earlier), but now I use them pretty regularly with the standard size covers. Don't know how much they're worth, but the sound is good enough for listening on the go, which allows me to keep my nice headphones at home.
By the way, I wouldn't say this song is straight up drum n bass, but it's definitely influenced by it, even some familiar sounding breaks in it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeJbLw2mK9o&feature=kp
