No 10.2 is for testing purposes. Development just started and official releases won't happen for a while.

CM7 to stock GRI40

I've been reading a lot of posts lately of people wanting to go from CM7 to stock 2.3.3. Why would someone do such a thing? Am I missing something??

They don't want to use or don't know about the Dewonkificator and because of the wonks are willing to go stock. They think battery life sucks on CM7 and want better battery life with stock. They want the latest Android version. They use only RC or Stable versions of CM and therefore don't know about the improvements in the nightlies after RC1.
I would like to try stock for few days just for comparison and most likely go back to CM7 after that.
I have never heard of call wonks. What are they?

Gremlins that inhabit the CM7 ROM. They often run amok when you make or receive calls.
I think it only affects the stock dialer though. I use CM7 for daily use and have for a while now, and have seen a wonk once. It was ugly.
Dialer One didn't have any issues to my knowledge.
I've been using the stock dialer more on CM7 then I have in the past with little to no issues, although I don't call that often.
Cyanogen is the best
Hmm when i flash an other ROM then Cyanogen it feels wrong for me.
Imo Cyanogen is for me the way how Android must looks like.
I've been thinking about buying myself a new device but then i thought: "There will be no Cyanogen on it and maybe they wouldn't support it". So i wait for the next Googlephone.
My N1 will survive another year.
Great thanks to the Cyanogen team for this great job no one make a better one!!!
where's the tutorial of CM7 to stock 2.3.3..
i want to try it.. anyone please copy the link..
Backup followed by flashing the GRI40 zip from the development forum.

AOSP/CM10.1

Hey, I know this has been asked before, but no one seems to be answereing clearly, when can we expect AOSP roms on the HTC One, like, are we waiting for something? Or is it just that no ones tried yet?

lol nice
but I'm wondering why you'd go AOSP on this... the allure of this phone is the Zoe camera, the sense 5.0, and then software features... otherwise it's just a nice phone with a good design
I love AOSP and all, but stock experience is something I'd rather have on a phone with crappy UI (like the RAZR HD).
I love sense tbh, and ideally I'd like a de-sensed Rom, so I can keep the camera and such, but I think aosp looks soo much nicer, it's soo clean and smooth, and you can also get the newest features without having to wait months for HTC

Technically, but only if we get S-OFF so that the kernel doesn't have to be locked to whatever version of ROM that HTC has released.

Not for me. The allure of this device is it's hardware (CPU/GPU, metal unibody design, etc). I could care less about the camera since I rarely take pictures. And you can get cutting edge software enhancements that the OEMs can't/won't supply you with CM10.1.
If they come out with a VZW version, that's the first thing I'm going to do, is try and get CM10.1 on it (maybe at CM11 by this time).

★ [ROM][M7] CyanogenMod 10.1 DISCUSSION, Q&A THREAD ★

there are a lot off topic conversations going on the official Cyanogenmod ROM thread that have nothing to do with CM development and it'd be better for the community if we keep all those conversations..questions about CM in this thread..

Nice. Can't believe no one thought of this earlier.
Maybe a stupid question but I can't find it online.
What's the difference between Expirimental, nightlies, etc?
And what's the order of al these?

I mentioned it days ago in the Development thread.
I didn't start one because I can't keep the Original post updated.
Glad someone else who can started a thread.

Experimental is usually a build started by a dev to test changes made
Nightlies are builds scheduled every night regardless if changes have been made
Milestones have all the big bugs ironed out and signify overcoming big developmental hurdles
RC (release candidate) is what it sounds like. It's a build that has the potential to be stable if no further bugs appear
Stable has all the bugs worked out.
Do we still have the Black screen during calls? I swore it worked this morning then all my calls went black. Didn't realize how important buttons were on calls to me until it happened. I'm on the latest nightly

No idea. I'd say no since someone would have to reverse engineer the HTC software. I don't see that happening, but it's just a guess.

Too bad... Hopefully someone will create some kind of AOSP-Stock-Hybrid-ROM.
I will ask in Q&A if somebody is already at it, if not i will see if i can spare some time to get involved into Android developing and try to create one...
Issues
Apologies if I have missed anything where this has been covered before. I have read pretty much every page of the dev thread. I have been an xda user for years but only just opened an account to ask a couple of questions.
I can report the proximity/ blank screen during calls still exists with 18052013 nightly. Not that I saw anything about this in the change log.
Can I ask if this is any issue for everybody with the HTC One or just some? (I have the international version)
Is there a fix in the works for this?
It looks like the notification LED colour cannot be changed right now. I have tried a couple of colours but green is the only one that works.
I noticed something else small. The facebook app from the Sense 5.0 original ROM had the option to "sync only existing contacts" but with this ROM we have only "sync" which syncs all contacts. Not sure if this is an easy fix but it would be nice to have back. I do understand none of the "sense" apps or tools are available in AOSP.
Thanks for the hard work and helps everybody
Probably kind of random, but anyone have any luck with the One/CM 10.1 syncing with a Jawbone Up (a fitness monitor bracelet)? It worked fine on stock, but refuses to sync since moving to CM. I'm on the latest nightly. Any info appreciated!

Battery life is great.
ARHD is close to stock but enhanced whereas Viper is heavily themed.... it all depends what you prefer.
Why do people ask for opinions on ROMs and battery life, it's so subjective and what one user experiences, the next person won't as it's all based on what you do on your device.
It surprised me aswell lately how many new users don't even hit the thanks button when people take the time to help (the posts by redbull and rider for example) ... Just common courtesy imo.
Sorry

[Q] Android Revolution HD Question

Hey XDA people,
I got a HTC One just a couple days ago and I wanted to root my phone because I feel that the battery is draining pretty quickly.
So, should I flash Android Revolution HD 31.6 or 40.3(/41.0)? Is one better than the other? I know that 40.3(/41.0) runs Android 4.4 KitKat, but is it stable enough to run daily? Or is 31.6 more stable than 40.3(/41.0)?
Thanks!

Hey! It is always tough to say which rom is better than the other. I've tried numerous versions of Revolution HD. I would and will go for the latest, 41.0 since there were a few bugs in 40.3.

Thanks dude. However, I don't know if 41.0 is going to be as stable compared to 31.6, because of the fact that it just came out today. But I guess the dev wouldn't even release it if he knew it wasn't almost 100% stable, right?
Mike is pretty sharp, it's probably fine.
VPN doesn't work on KitKat, if that's important for you.
Well kitkat for HTC one now is the dev version. Generally 4.3 is more stable ( but i do not feel much difference between 4.4 and 4.3). So if you really want a stable version, i think 4.3 is better in theory

Any info on how to setup VPN on pre-kitkat? There is the KeyVPN app plus the integrated Android VPN client, none of which seem to support certificate-based authentication.
I would appreciate any help on this topic.
Thanks.
Edit:
Nobody replied to my question about KeyVPN, so I had to find an alternative way. Happily using OpenVPN now. The configuration on both Router and Phone proved to be a hassle using certificate-based authentication, however once configured it works like a charm.
Cheers.
