Hi people - HTC Salsa

I'm still around barely, family issues have evolved badly so I will be away longer than expected. I haven't even had a chance to pop in and see any new work lately.
Peace out peeps.

Wish all the best for you. Hope it gets better soon.

Well, I'm off to Kuwait.

I'm quite sure many of you have no idea who I am, but that's alright. I wouldn't expect you to.
Just wanted to give my appreciation to the MANY MANY devs here, in thanks for making my old devices much more than the manufacturers intended them to be.
I'll be serving one year of Active Army Duty (Deployment) in the Middle-East & Surrounding areas, hopefully still enjoying my HTC HD7, until around July of 2012.
I'll miss xda, as it's been one of my other homes for a little over two years now.
Love you guys, see you soon!

Take care! Thank you for serving!
Good luck and be safe. I had the luxury of serving during peacetime, and I tip my hat to guys who are really putting it on the line.
It is a shame that troops are deployed without an imminent reason anyways..
have a great trip

Where would we be without XDA

Unable to think logically yesterday...
so phone is now fixed...
XDA = Awesome you guys are the best.....
However if i had never of found you i doubt i would be trying out so much new stuff...hhmmmm interesting circle of events.
XDA helped break it ...(with showing me how to make my phone better)
Yet XDA helped fix it ...(with all the people who give up their time and resources to help and make your problem go away)
So without you XDA this would never of happened!!
In the words of +Azrienoch Jeff Smith
That's the moral of the news this week...
Without XDA you would be stuck with a great phone and little to no understanding of how it works or its full potential.
So learn to read and always start at the beginning when it goes wrong. Which it will. More than once.
So thank you.
I love my phone

Haha. But so very true.
For me, without XDA, I wouldn't own the phone I do. It has a locked bootloader. But not even that was an obstacle for the people here. So, seeing all the custom roms, I decided to buy the device despite the locked bootloader. And what I got was a very nice device for a very nice price. Thanks to XDA.
without XDA I wouldn't have all the great apps I have now.
<3 XDA.
without this forum and more importantly, all the great contributions by the amazing members here, I'd be totally lost.

Baa, XDA doesnt help brick phones, people brick phone, more specifically people who dont read what they are doing an jump in the deep end with both feet before bothering to check how deep it was and if it infact had any water in it to begin with..... its like cars, cars dont kill people, people kill people
actually, thinking about it, a better question would be, where would XDA be without android
My answer to that? there'd be a lot less flamed **** fighting fanboy oneup man ship, cant we all just get along!
Let's see... I would had gotten a kindle instead of a nook touch during black friday . I discover XDA and i instantly brought the nook touch! and next day I brought another!
Now I have a HD2 I'm trying figure out ><! So much fun

To the person who said cloud backup and warranty, my warranty expired over a year ago and I have to share 100GB of data between a family of 6. One cloud backup of my important data wouldve put us over the limit. (F**k you northwestel and Bell)

Being sympathetic does not necessarily mean crying. That poor chap lost his phone and is short of money to buy a new one. May you share the same sorrow. May be then you would come to terms with the feeling of loss and the grief associated with it. Might be a petty thing for many of us, but for me, I could just say, don't worry mate, God has better things in store for you.

Another good reason to start crying like that on a forum like this...apparently.
Man, that sucks big time OP. I know how you feel... way back in high school I was in a similar situation twice. I had a feature phone with a colour screen and no camera or other fancy stuff, but at the time it felt so cool to just talk and text from a little handheld gadget. Then one day at the library, I stupidly left it on the table I was sitting at before going to the washroom - of course it was never seen again when I got back. Plus my parents bought it for me which made me feel really angry at myself.
I immediately received a hand-me-down from my dad (this one was a little fancier, Nokia with a VGA camera) and within a few months, it ended up in the washing machine! From that point on I became super careful.
Hope you manage to acquire another phone sometime, ideally a non-LG And let this be a lesson to always keep your phone in your pocket at all times! And if the situation doesn't permit it, lock the phone securely in a locker or car glove compartment or something, or just ask a trustworthy friend to hold it for you.

Getting to Know You - Share a Pic of Yourself!

Since there will be a lot of new faces in the N5 section, and of course a lot of love and hate affairs will be taking place in the next year I find that when we put a face to a name there seems to be more friendly communication. I have done this in another device section on XDA and it turned out to be really successful and extremely fun as well.
If you guys are interested and the admin are okay with it then let's get it started and start posting up some pics of yourself, family etc.
If everyone prefers to be incognito here then we can just close this thread.....
I am 37, married with one kid and live in the US, North Carolina. Grew up in NY though.
My smart phone journey started years back with a Windows Pocket PC phone PPC-6600 if anyone remembers that. Started out at Sprintusers.com and then moved to PPCGEEKS.com for all my needs. I used to be scared of XDA. It was the place where the big boys hung out. Man, it was intimidating. Then I slowly built up the courage to check out XDA for myself and slowly worked my way in here.
Now we have so many different levels of users and while some might think that is a bad thing I think it's great. We all have to start somewhere and seeing people transition from noobs with not a clue to the ones helping others and some guys even taking on development themselves, it is a great community we have here!

Coming from am N4 I am mostly looking forward to the 5" 1080p screen. A 4.7" screen is nice if there weren't soft keys on the screen so a 5" should be just the right amount of real estate with the soft keys.
I know you can remove them and use other options but I like my keys usable without any other actions.

Yeah, the reason I wanted to have this thread here is for everyone to see the wide range of people there are on XDA from teenage kids to parents to grandparents.
It will also help when communicating in the other threads as you might think twice on how you react to people when they ask certain things. They are not just a punk teen hiding behind a nickname...They are an old guy, acting like a punk teen hiding behind a nickname. Lol
