Anybody wanting the double tap wake screen feature. It is cool! Not to use a button.
But will it make a big power lost with this function?
Hoping some dev to port it to AOSP
There's an app called touch control that unlocks with double tap but doesn't lock it. As for battery it doesn't really do much to battery m.

I would love this function as an app. Genius! Would make owning a giant phone easier.
Double tap to wake has been around since the galaxy nexus with touch control. LG probably stole the idea from that dev.

Yes i see this first on nokia n9
What the G2 has is a limited version of touch control by bponury, an app that is pure awesome.

I just started using the touch control app, good for waking up the phone, I would like to have the gesture, where you swipe up from the bottom of the screen, where it wakes up and unlocks like the BB Z10

I'm just amazed on how long the phone keeps apps in memory and how the multitasking is just amazing. Coming from the note 2 where you have to hold the home button to multitask ( or the back button for multi window ), here the software on screen buttons makes the multitasking even more seamless. What do you guys think?

Big improvement over my s2! I love the onscreen buttons

SO FAST.
But seriously, I was completely blown away by how fast the recent menu came up and how fast it was to load an app.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
No matter how much I try to bog it down I just can't this thing is amazingly fast!!!! Didn't have one single hiccup since pursuing it. Love it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I've to agree.
Really really big leap forward compared to the Galaxy S3.
Yeah its awesome I don't have to worry about Waze constantly closing on me when its in the background
Sent from my forth generation Nexus phone
Another great thing which is a 4.2 feature I believe, is that when u press the multitasking icon, the app that you're in comes out so you can exit it when you're done. Before it would only show the other apps but not the one you're currently using. Simply awesome!

Agree, super fast tasking!

I agree, it's amazing how fast the multi-tasking is. I'm coming from the G2X so I thought it was just because I hadn't upgraded my phone for a while, but I guess others feel the same way.
I start up games and apps, and try to trick the phone into stuttering. I cant. is any other stock android close to this?
I agree. Big tip for everyone to make it even more amazing, get GMD gesture and set top right and left corner, for example, long hold as alt tab. Unbelievably convenient for copy pasting between apps.

Agreed. And I was very skeptical when I bought the Gnex... But loved them ever since then and missed them on the One X.

Good to see some people shining some light on one of the many great things the nexus does extremely well among all these negative threads. I agree it is a night and day difference from my galaxy nexus, love it.

Does having all these apps in the background drain battery ?
Can anyone comment on how much faster the S4 Pro feel in everyday usage in comparison to the S4 dual?

They aren't necessarily running, just stored in memory, so it shouldn't do.

Hi, I have noticed that when I have blocked my Nexus and I put it reflecting the sun light, I can see a grid of points, I don't know how to explain, but I have recorded my smartphone to show you what I'm talking about.

Thats normal its your touchpanel sensors i believe ive seen it on every touch phone i have had.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Didn't see it on my 2 Samsung Super AMOLED screens but it was also visible on my old Xperia X10. Probably depends on the screen technology.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I've also noticed that. It's not bothering though as it can be seen only when the screen is off. I know that Galaxy Nexus didn't had it. But I think it's kinda nice looking.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
As it has already been said, it's the touch panel. Whether you can see it or not depends on the used touch panel. On some phones you can see it, on some you can't.
It's nothing to worry about.
Same here!

Just came from a note 3 . I had a nexus 4 before that . The nexus 5 is the smoothest phone I've ever used . it's as smooth as windows phones . I'm just so happy I have it . Google really did a great job . the only thing I really miss about my note is the camera .

Yes in terms of smoothness the nexus 5 is the best when it comes to android phone. My only downside with this phone is the speaker, its volume is just too low.

I must be the only one that likes the camera. Sure things can always be better, but it's way better than the N4 i was used to before. Only complaint is the slow shutter speed. My pics come out great. /Shrug

First full day with mine after messing with it for 6 hours last night. After modding the hell out of it last night I can say I'm really happy with it, I might change my DPI up a little more, at 320 and the icon's are a little too small. Overall though one of the better pieces of hardware I've seen in a while, love the soft touch back.

Well not for me, it depends on your preference.
LG G2 design and quality is better than S4 I came from S4 to G2 before owning Z1. I really like the way LG designed G2, from buttons, bezel, screen size and curve sides, the only downside for me is the lack of sd slot.

I have owned a Galaxy nexus and a nexus 4, the Z1 is very nice, the only thing I really hate is the bloatware, and the slow OS updates (still in 4.2.2), but the Z1 looks great, other than that I really like the phone. The nexus 5, well is a nexus.

Does anyone know if that would be a possible feature to port or imitate on our z1? Gotta say that is one feature that doesn't sound like a gimmick. Perhaps there is already an app that I couldn't find that already does this?

This. People keep saying it's a hardware thing. No...nothing samsung does is a hardware thing. Heart rate monitor? Apps did the same thing for years. The fingerprint sensor and IR blaster is the only "hardware" thing that can't be replicated on other phones. (or have already been replicated)
Thanks!

How does an app that pretends to scan your finger but just detects your touch come even remotely close to a real fingerprint scanner?
