ummm.. SWAP IS NOT SD-EXT MEMORY you know it, right?
So you can format your sd in fat32 format and then you should re-partition it again using the correct kernel/script

boot into recovery wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
do not to factory reset cos you may get a bootloop
in link2 sd clear cache and refresh
also if you use root explorer you can go to system to app and delete unwanted things but do it only if you know what you are doing
you can also delete lib files which you think are unnecessary also be careful here bcos you may get a soft brick if you delete something important in that case if nothing goes right place a custom rom in your sd card and install via cwr
please hit thanks man

Internal memory is "locked"

Dear guys,
I have a very strange problem with my tab. The internal memory seems to be “read only” after restart.
Ai have this problem after I stopped a transfer between my laptop and the tab (a movie). The problem is that o can’t format internal memory, to fix any fat leaks. I try to wipe all, flash with every know firmware from h__p://w w w.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-p1000.htm, format internal memory from CWM. Every format command works (finish format ok),
I can used the space on tab (even accessing from laptop) but when I restart my tablet I have the old content.
My question is what the f__k is happened and who to fix it.
Many thanks in advance!
Any one??!?!?!
Any one??!?!?!
I can't help with the solution but fwiw I have exactly the same problem. Samsung's only suggestion was to send it in for repair but I'm hesitant to do that because all my data is still on the device. I've tried hard resetting it but everything comes back as soon as I reboot. I can remove or install application but they reset as soon as I reboot the Tab. I cannot make any kind of permanent changes to it.
It's very frustrating to say the least. Anyone have any suggestions for what would cause this? Mine is still a stock device with only a few market applications.
I also have some issues with internal "SDCARD" and that is that i cannot move anything onto it using andy SGT filemanagement system or the very bad KIES software. At the moment my external SD is full but the internal SD has like 14GB free and i cannot balance the storage!?!
If I move programs to SD will it me moved to internal or external SD and can I choose the setting?
The only way I managemd to move stuff into internal SD is to download files like films and music via DLNA over WiFi - those files are saved correctly were I want it...
any advise would be appreciated...
So this means that i can't repair my tablet?
I can't find any solution for this problem. and i believe that we are not the only one with this problem.
I send it to service... they replaced main board...
but canceled my warranty reason: unauthorized software intervention - root access
So... watch out for this. factory reset you tablet or mobile (if possible... in my case was not possible)
Thank you for your support.
I have the same
I have the same exact problem ,, anyone can help plz ??
Hi:
I´ve just discovered this forum. Hello...
Just the same problem here and Samsung doesn´t repair my device. Can you give me any help?
Regards
This is exactly the same problem I've encountered. Moments AFTER rooting the thing.
Which leads me to believe any and all warranty question is well out of the window.
Has anyone encountered a solution as yet?
I appreciate the posts above are a few months old so I'm hoping some sort of resolution has been found!
Same problem here too
Internal mem seems fine and you can delete things, but after reboot nothing is remembered.
Gave it to service (non samsung/carrier), They said that the p1000 is known for having bad internal memory problems.
They partitioned my 8GB external sd card and installed a Chinese MIUI rom 4.0.4 that is supposed to support installation and running from external SD mem.
The problem is they didn't remove the internal memory - so all old apps still exist there and can' t be removed (it probably mounts the internal mem and thinks it can write to it - but in practice nothing is written). So when i go to market and try to DL an app it says no memory left on device because it tries to put it on the internal mem and not the external.
Also, after reboot all the account setup wizard screen settings are forgotten and you need to redefine everything again.
I saw a thread on XDA that explains you need to remove the internal SD mem physically (and explains how to do it) but i am a little afraid to do it...
Anyone else try this ?
Also strange you need to change the whole MB for a faulty memory, why can't the internal mem just be replaced ?
Hi, please keep all question/help related threads in the Q&A section only. Thank You.
Thread Moved.

[Q] Problems with my friend's Mini...

Hey everyone in this forum,
I have a friend who has a Galaxy Mini. And its had a few problems.
First off, its had problems with memory. Her phone doesn't recieve texts and emails (although I think emails is a syncing matter) because apparently there's no memory- she's told me it says "Message memory full- incoming message rejected" or along those lines.
Around this point she had ~23MB of internal storage remaining.
Also she kept getting the "Low memory" notification at that point.
Games like Flow force-closed on her often as well, making them unplayable. Which was strange because on my mum's Mini Flow ran fine.
Now she's deleted quite a few apps/cleared data and cache manually through Task Manager and the phone seems to be running fine again, but this (from having a Galaxy Apollo) I know is a recurring problem with low internal memory.
Also, copying files via SD adaptor and USB cable doesn't work either. Transferring files gives a "write-protected" message- is that the phone or are they just the files themselves?
I'm sorry if these have been asked before but its incredibly hard to search an individual forum on mobile.
If it helps:
Firmware: 2.3.6 GINGERBREAD.XXKL3
Model number: GT-S5570I
My friend has next to no idea about Android, and so please avoid suggesting custom roms/kernels and rooting, especially because the phone is still relatively new.
Also, if possible please suggest any solutions to any of the above that does not include factory resetting/wiping data.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Has your friend installed lots of apps then uninstalled them? if so try clearing the dalvik cache as it leaves data in the cache even tho you've uninstalled the app. Use Titanium Backup Pro to clear the delvik cache.

I think she had quite a few apps and went on a mass uninstalling frenzy :L but do you need to be rooted to clear the Dalvik cache by Titanium Backup?

Hey, thanks for your help, but I don't really want to root her phone- its her phone and the warranty is still on it, plus this is her first smartphone so she's still a new user.
Would it be best to move all the apps she can (without root) to her SD card? Would that still solve the problem?

I had the same problems, I did this memory increasing thing, too, and now everything's ok. Well and I heard that warranty is only for software problems, is that right?, and the people here can help you, too, if you have such problems.

Cant factory reset

Hello everyone i been searching and browsing the forums but cant seem to find the solution on this phone, i havent been able to factory reset my phone in years..
I have tried a thousand things factory reset with phone on formatting in CWM and doing a hard reset no matter what i do i can still se folders on my internal card from old apps and stuff..
What can i do ?
I dont care if i have to do something drastic and start over from the beginning because i have lost alot of space this way..
I hope someone can help me..
Find format internal sd card option in cwm, that will completely erase internal sd card content. You can then flash kdz to go back to stock , or flash another rom from external sd card
I will try that and sorry to everyone for posting in the wrong forum like a ******* noob i thought i were in the question forum..
I dont have the format sdcard option but i have a format system option is that the same thing.. ?

[Q] N7000 screen smashed

Okay revisiting my old broken N7000 from several months ago and not quite sure what I managed to do back then but my main aim was to clear personal data before selling it on as a repairable. Something I haven't done yet.
The display screen is completely inoperational so have no idea what I'm looking at when phone is booted up. I know phone still works as soft keys still light up and vibrate when touched. In an attempt to verify I have succeeded clearing my personal data I installed Kies only for the required sammy usb drivers which would allow me to browse the internal storage of the phone.
My question now is what directories should I be looking at to see if personal data has been cleared and is there anything else I need to worry about? Please see my signature to see what my setup was.
Thanks

Well, I'm sure if you formatted with a PIT file it would clear everything out... but that is a bit dangerous.
Do you remember which kernel/recovery you have?
Can't I just delete key files/folders manually?

That's what @XxPixX was talking about. If you know what recovery r u in, then u can predict what to press to go to mount&storage to mount your sdcard to connect to your PC or laptop. From there then you will get access to erase your wanted datas/folders.

When you say sdcard are you talking about built-in internal memory which is where I assume personal data is kept?
When I connect to PC I can already see my internal storage .....

Yes... I suppose formatting it should erase everything.

Our phone (like many others) has several partitions. Your personal files such as photos, films, music, s-note notes etc. are stored on the 11GB partition you can see when you plug your phone into the computer. There is also one more important for us partition (/data) which stores nearly all of the most important data such as sms'es, phone numbers, logins to google and generally all the data generated by your apps.
If you format it with a PIT file then everything will be nicely cleared out (but it is dangerous and you would then have to reflash Jelly bean). That will guarantee that ALL (not exactly true but close enough) data is gone from the phone, it would be like new.
If you know what the recovery/kernel/android version is then we can help you guide yourself to the format options in the recovery from which you can perform a data wipe.
There might also be the possibility that you can use ADB to reformat, however I have never done it that way. This could be the simpleset as all you have to do is boot into recovery and do the rest on the computer.
