Mm, i didn't know that, it was just the link i found on the interweb. Anyway, got my send notification, i'll report back when i've installed them.
I ordered mine last week sometime, I kept forgetting to post the link (non-affiliated link iirc).
Thank you for the link! 2.85 dollars for that protection is a very nice price! Bought a Copter Display Shield (same type as StealthGuard) for about 35 bucks in Sweden ...
Thanks a bunch, just got my Milestone protector for €2,22
Thx i get mine too i hope they will delivering me in France !

Just ordered to Denmark, sounds like a great deal. I had an InvisibleShield for my Magic, which I wasn't that pleased with. It fell off rather quick and got black-ish instead of see-through. Lets see how this stuff works on a Legend.
can someone tell me why I would need such a thing? The legend is housed in aluminum already, and I highly doubt it could be scratched. I could understand if someone is using this just for the screen protector, but still, there are ones that cost less on ebay...

Everything scratches, and if you plan on selling your phone after you have upgraded in the future, it will still look brand new if you had a product like this on it.
Scratched it already, happens easier then you'd think!
Ordered one. Heared from people that you have to use a lot of water to install them properly, and that they have a very rubbery feel. But hey they are nearly free...
Sent from my HTC Legend using Tapatalk
I got mine yesterday.
Yes, these really feel rubbery as the plastic is fairly thick.
The really anoying thing is that the side pieces go all the way from the top to the plastic piece on the bottom therefore you can't open it, or, you can cut it like I did
Overall it's a good product for the price (muhahah).
Not worth the postage fee to be honest
Very thick - bends when trying to remove them from the paper they come on, and a nightmare to install - What more do you expect for free? lol
Got mine yesterday and I must say that I'm very happy with them. Installation is like on every protector with liquid...I must say that they are definitely better than the zagg ones witch were I nightmare for me to install on my girlfriends iPhone. All you need is PATIENCE and lot (and I mean a lot) of water! I've put water in a bowl with 2 drops of dish washing liquid, then make your fingers wet and take the protector slowly off it's paper (it's easier with wet fingers), and then put the whole protector in the water, let it drip off(not completely), apply and patiently wait 6 ours or use a hair dryer to get it done quicker (but you will still have to wait after). With the part's that include bending you should do the flat part and wait until it starts to stick, and then bend the other parts.

heh figures...
i guess if you go through all the trouble of getting one of these on, should atleast be a good one.
So I just wanted to start a thread for myself and anyone else who may want to read it
Basically anyone who has an otterbox case for the evo shift or has seen/used it or whatever just leave your opinions/reviews whatever. I am thinking of buying one so just wondering
I don't have one for the Shift but I've used an Otterbox on other devices and would recommend it if you have the slightest fear of damaging your handset.
I believe the last one I used was a Commuter which completely encased the handset and seemed to be able to take a hit. The back was too smooth for me so I had a little trouble re-learning how to hold it and the thickness of the handset increased significantly but overall it felt safe. Worth the extra money.
I am using the otterbox commuter case on my shift right now. I like it a lot. The fit and finish seems like it is completely a part of the phone. Only two complaints are:
1. If I try to move an icon from one hone screen to another, the piece covering the screen makes it difficult to move it to the "edge" - not a big deal, you learn to adjust.
2. When opening the slider, I hear a click sound, sounding like the little tabs holding the upper piece on are catching as it moves. Again, kinda not picky.
All in all, I think it is a great case and makes me worry a lot less about dropping my device. I would definitely recommend it.

Awesome seems like ill want to pick it up. I recently cracked the screen on my shift and made a few scuff marks so that's what seriously turned me to getting the case.

Tip for putting on the included screen protector...patience and a clean work surface! I couldn't get it to work well at first, then I ended up dropping it on the carpet. I was ready to give up on it until my wife took it from me and got it to work. So...if you have the patience of an ADHD kid on meth like I do...lol. It was my first screen protector too so. Anyways have fun!

definitely worth getting. i have the commuter series otterbox and it makes my phone look and feel like a beast. only thing that annoys me sometimes is the dust/lint that gets stuck to the rubber on the case, but i just blow it off.

I haven't had a problem opening the slider at all.
I have one and love it! Top of the line case, looks good feels good and protects good! I would totally recommend it to anyone with a Shift!..
I use it on my shift, and have had them on two other phones. Like everyone else said, its a great case, and really does look like a part of the phone.

I'm now on my second otterbox after a free factory replacement, my only nit pics are the usb port cover doesn't stay closed, and it clicks everytime I open it, feels like one of the clips is catching....

Just got the Commuter series and I'm a fan so far. Makes the phone feel more substantial and gives a better grip. The only issue was with the headphone and USB port covers, which didn't stay down. I just removed them, but DON'T Rip them off, it'll tear the rubber casing. Found that out on the USB port one so I cut the headphone one off. Either way makes the rubber a little loose around the port but not hugely annoying unless you're a perfectionist(which I can be). I'll just apply a little glue and seat it on the plastic frame.

I just hope the back isn't the same when I get mine.

Nope I can confirm that, being really careful you can take the back without any problem..
I Think that the front parts being hard to take off it's a good thing.
Had mine for 2 or 3 months now
Bought it from Amazon for like $25 when they finally came available for the shift and had to wait a month before I got it in hand.
I'm not as impressed as i would be with the protection if it was a defender case. I had the black case with fake carbon fiber and belt clip before. The otterbox commuter is better then that one, by how much I'm not sure.
I dropped my phone about a month ago. I don't know if it just hit the right place of the case, and the back case came flying off the phone, the side clips where busted off, so the back case would not stay on any more.
I decided to call up otterbox and see if it was under warr. and if they would replace it. AMAZINGLY they said YES so they shipped me a new one for free i didn't even have to pay shipping. NICE. It was quick and easy I thought that was soooo cool. Because of that i will continue to buy otterbox, and recommend them to others.
In future i hope to buy defender cases (better protection) which means no more slider phones which i think i am ready for now that touch screens are so much better. All my old phones have been sliders with full keyboards from back in the day with my old HTC t-mobile MDA, which made me find this site.
Thats my 2 cents.
Lasted me just abt six months of light regular use. It's still on this phone as i write and its protective capability is still almost all intact, but the plastic and silicone are both breaking down: Replacement time.
The plastic of both the inner case and the protective belt clip is somewhat brittle. The retaining tab on the belt clip that holds the phone in, snapped off after less than a month rendering the belt clip useless, as it wouldn't hold the phone anymore. The little snaps that clip the inner case halves together are beginning to go; two of them broke in the last couple weeks.
These both look to me like design issues where the characteristics of the material used weren't accounted for as well as they might've been.
The silicone is tearing in a couple places, around the volume button and one of the plastic nubbins that the belt clip tab clicks into. This last tear is progressing out to the edge of the case, another 3mm or so to go.
i liked this case; phone felt really safe with it. i liked the really tall lip around the screen that made the phone super-easy to hold, even as it made typing a bit of a challenge with the "keys" at the edge of the screen. This is a big plus as this isn't the easiest of phones to keep a safe grip on while using it.
The built-in screen protector isn't so hot as it let dirt get in at the top between it and the screen, and also doesn't contact the screen at one bottom corner so one has to press down with disproportionate effort there to get the touch to register. It's where the keypad is so slows down typing.
Overall i'm glad it's on the phone. It's big and heavy and clunky and keeps the device well protected from harm and easy to hold on to. It's also one of the costliest cases and i was hoping it'd last me at least a year: i'm a fairly careful guy too, don't beat mercilessly on my gadgets or anything.
Think i'll try the Ballistics SG case next.

-- This tall lip is a part of the polycarbonate hard inner case and the screen protector is glued to it at the bottom. Makes for a very secure thumb hold and i expect will be one of the features of this case i'll miss.

Note that only some AT&T stores will. It's manager discretion and some will be more agreeable to it than others.
Otterbox breaking clips
I have had the same problem with with my Otterbox box case, the small clipe that hold the plastic case close keeps breaking after i have to open it up to clean my screen on my HTC vivid. Because the top is open, I'm cleaning my screen a lot.
just contact the supplier through their site and tell them what happen, and they will send you a new case for free. I'm on my second case now. it seems that they know there is a problem with those fragile snaps.

Mine lasted over a year, and that's with frequently pulling it apart to pull the battery. Now half of the plastic clips that hold it together are gone, and the rubber flap for the USB port is starting to tear, almost ripping off. If you pay attention when taking it apart, it should last way longer than a year. My only gripe is its a bit bulky, not very pocket friendly.

I'm on my 2nd Replacement case as I have broke 2 belt clips within 2 months. Otterbox has been excellent about sending a replacement in both instances. I also removed the built in screen protector and have purchased a different one from Amazon. Overall the case has been decent. Happy with it for the most part. I still am using the actual case from the original but now a couple of the tabs have broken off the polycarbonate shell. Guess I will have to switch out for one of the replacements they have sent me. Unfortunately the belt clip seems to have been the most fragile part for my experience.
Wow i haven't used my otterbox defender, cause one of the clips, of the inside broke, the screen protector is almost gone (its broking) and the outer layer of silicone doesn't like, glue? Stick to the hard case!! I'm going to contact otterbox and see what they said! Thanks guys!!

No receipt required. The photo with the case and your name and today's date is all the proof of ownership they need. I finally sent my info in last night, got the reply email, emailed the photos and today got the email with the Order Confirmation. The only odd thing is that I put in my PO Box as my address, but the order PDF says it's shipping via FedEx. I wonder how it will work out.

If you do attempt to put it back on, you can glue it. If you really wanted it back on you can glue it. But forcing it out may bend / distort the screen protector. It's no good anyway.

A read in this forum, and actually in Amazon reviews for Defender, people use a hair dryer to soften the glue and remove it easily.
Regarding the whole thing with Otterbox and customer support, I had original Defender for a few days purchased from Verizon store. After quickly realizing the shortfall with that built-in screen protector, I contacted Otterbox directly and was explained that problems get resolved easily by them sending me email with claim number and me providing them back 3 pictures with a problem and/or additional small video clip (to show flex of screen protector). They told me that once you send the claim in, a replacement will be shipped to you and YOU have to send back the original case. My point, if you are not happy with a Defender, just return it back if you can rather than taking screen off and than gluing it back together which going to void warranty. In my case, I went back to Verizon store, tried 3 more Defender in there - all with the same issue, and just returned it back.
Regarding moral issues, so how about that "almost real" thread? I think I mentioned it in there a few times as a disclaimer that these come very handy when you want to modify Defender for extended battery and don't want to butcher your $60 case.

screen protector really does work. when it looks like smudges, air bubbles, or blemishes within a 48 - 72 hours they do all go away.
there was what looked like dust smudges which bummed me out but 2 days later ...completely gone.
CAUTION !!
i used the Spen and it leaves track marks. a few have disappeared but the more pressure you you put on the screen the deeper the marks look ... ill report back to see if they went away

I attempted to repair it by shoving a piece of a toothpick into the part of the ass-end that broke off, and the part that remained inside my phone. This did not work well as, in my attempts to do this, the toothpick snapped in two and now I just have the parts with toothpick pieces stuck in them.
I clipped off the excess toothpick and have been using my stubby stylus as such since, flicking it to insert it into the phone and smacking the bottom of it against my hand as if I were packing a pack of cigarettes in order to remove it.
Point being: I cannot continue to use and abuse my phone in such a manner, even if I do have an OtterBox on the damn thing. I need to repair/replace my stylus, this is obvious, but I don't feel like paying $30 for a brand-new stylus when the only thing wrong with it is the ass-end. Does anybody know of anywhere I can purchase [a] new ass-end(s) so that i can replace just that part of the stylus?

You can just post here. Lol.
If you check on eBay, you can score a new genuine OEM S Pen for $15.
I ordered one from the Samsung website.. Using a 50% off coupon it was only 14.99....

I paid $350 for this phone. The stylus broke for no reason whatsoever after four months.
I WILL BE CHEAP IF I WANT TO
Well in that case, have you tried contacting Samsung for a warranty replacement?
No idea how that works. I lost mine soi that's why I had to replace it.
BTW... the bashing like cigarette case removal method sounds bad. I'd just keep it in a pocket for now!
No sense in breaking the phone over a relatively inexpensive replaceable accessory...

I got one under warranty from aT&T just call them and tell them it quit working. See if that works first.
Free + overnight shipping and I got $25 off my bill.
Honestly your picture does not look like it broke on its own but I'll take your word for it

Well, like I said, I attempted to repair it with a toothpick first. when that didn't work, I shaved some of the plastic off of the exposed broken pieces with a knife to make it flush so that I might Gorilla-Glue it.
You're going round robins barn for no reason. If it broke legitimately (which I don't see how) then you can easily get it replaced under warranty. Why you would even attempt a repair is beyond me, unless you broke it yourself and are feeling guilty.

Yup. +1 if it was defective workmanship my first instinct would be to call aT&t and get a replacement or get really pissed.

I honestly don't understand how or why it broke either. There was no reason for it to have broken. My brother got his Note II at the exact same time as I did, and his is still going strong.

Sheared off, whilst in your hands, using it? Or left on the table/etc, came back and found it sheared off? Or sheared off, whilst you were inserting it back into the S-pen slot?
You weren't playing fruit ninja, were you?
Perhaps, your brother snapped his and simply swapped it with yours?
Because, I'm holding my S-pen right here, and the only way I can see it having broken as your photo depicts, is for it to have been snapped by hand.
Defective workmanship, would more likely result in it not being glued/affixed/assembled properly and it separating from each other, but not snapping/shearing.
If it truly was as you state it, then see if you can get a replacement under warranty. Otherwise purchase another one from ebay/etc or glue it back together and use it ghetto style.

Sounds and looks like S-Pen Ninja.
Again, that is just the two pieces. I have shaved off the extra plastic with a knife. That is not what it looked like when it broke. I pulled the s-pen out and when I held it like a pencil like you are supposed to, with the ass-end resting on the crook between my thumb and forefinger, it just sheared off.

sheared
past tense of shear (Verb)
Verb
Cut the wool off (a sheep or other animal).
Cut off (something such as hair, wool, or grass) with scissors or shears.
So you cut it off? I'm just giving you a hard time. I would def call into the carrier or Samsung. If you came to my store, I could probably get you one at no charge.
Anyone who would just cut up their s-pen is insane. But yeah, I've been attempting to get this resolved for a couple days now. Samsung won't put me on with an actual human, so I think I'm going to contact AT&T about it.
Ohhh big spender.. Try being deployed on the other side of the world and having to spend $869 to get one
