OK. So I purchased a Droid3 that was already Unlocked and Rooted. I am not able to use the HDMI feature. I've tried one suggestion that I found in another thread here on XDA (adding line to build.prop) and it did not work for me. Any other suggestions? I need to be able to keep the phone unlocked to use GSM services here in the USofA on NET10/AT&T. If I loose this, the phone will be absolutely useless to me.
Sim unlocking is permanent, no matter which rom you flash. Are you sure it's a stock rom and not a debloated stock. The apks responsible for hdmi mirroring are sometimes removed as bloat. I can't remember what they're called but I believe there was a thread on it. I'll see if I can find it

After you restore HDMI out functionality by restoring DLNA, you might notice it doesn't output to 1080p, only 480p. Only options under HDMI settings is overscan. I had to install Any Cut and make a shortcut to the first HDMI option. (Install Any Cut from the market > Longpress a homescreen > Shortcut > Anycut > Activity > scroll down and select the FIRST HDMI option > hit ok)
After you make the shortcut, tap on it, then select 720p @ 60Hz. Even though the option says 720, your phone should now output at 1080p. You can check this when you plug in the phone via HDMI, in the upper corner (on most TVs, I have a Vizio) it'll show the resolution HDMI is running and should be 1080p. Use the overscan option in Settings > HDMI to increase/decrease the output size to fill the screen. I have to drag the slider all the way up to fit my TV @ 1080p.
Everything runs flawless for me, videos are nice (video only shows on TV), games run fine, audio comes from the TV.
Where do I find apk?

THANK YOU for pointing me in the right direction. As I mentioned in my original post, I purchased this as a rooted phone and don't have any original files saved on my computer. Will the DLNA.apk be stored in a backup file on the phone somewhere, or where might I find it so i can restore?

How do I go about restoring DLNA? Is the stock DLNA.apk stored somewhere on the phone still or where can I find it on the web?

Here is a link that Endoroid linked that tells the required files. You can get them if you download a stock rom, or stock based rom like MavROM. Just unzip them on your PC and look under the system folder, move onto phone with a root browser, and set permissions.

On a new note, my husband has the same phone and it appears to be stuck in boot loop... (Bricked?)
How can I find out if the phone OTA is .906 or .890? Or will the instructions provided here ([xt862] .906 1-click-sbf.exe + tools updated [3/31/2013]) work either way. The first sentence in big bold red letters is what has me curious.

906 will work on either system. 890 SBF will brick (if on 906 already), so to be safe, just use the 906 SBF. If you want to root, use Motofail. I would try a factory reset on it first though, just incase.

Thank you so much for all your help. Before I go any further, I have to ask... (I've read so much about these phones and all of the versions, over the past few weeks. It's a bit to take in for someone just trying to get their phone to a properly working state.) What (if any) are the differences in the XT862 & XT883, aside from original marketed country of use (862 US / 883 China)? Do I need to use something different since I have XT883?

The partitoning is a bit different I think, but hardware is the same, and SBF can be used on an XT862/XT883 interchangeably. I do not know if there is an xt883 sbf, but there is a rom I know of. The only version you should worry about not mixing is the XT860. It is gsm only and has several system differences. The radio could potentially harm your phone.
No luck. Still stuck in boot loop. ("Droid" ogg getting super annoying!)

Ok. Would you (or someone...ANYONE) PLEASE tell me, step by step (with links to files to download/install), what I need to do to get this phone operating (on AT&T) again?
Or am I just at a loss and need to buy a new phone...?
My post Here should contain all instructions and links to files required. After the sbf, flash the radio, use the xt883 one, not xt862 890. I will update when I get the link to proper build.prop required for the xt883 radio (to enable att gsm)
Remember to do a factory reset after you sbf.
Edit: bah, my depositfile link apparently expired... I will have to reupload from home.
Edit2: I had the files on my phone! Uploading the flash pack now (for flashing the radio) and attached the build.prop to this post. Will add link whendone uploading. Unzip the build.prop, push or copy to /system of rooted phone, and set permissions to 655.
Here is the zip containing all files to flash the radio, including moto fastboot, xt883 radio and stock 890 radio.
Here
Should be an easy oneclick with pictures on rooting with motofail.
After you root, download Rom Toolbox Lite from the market and use it to copy the build.prop from the sd card into /system then longpress it and tap permissions, make them match the image I attached.

Looks like custom roms might finally be here for the xt860 (and possibly me863, read Update4 below for more info). Thanks to Hashcode for all the work he's done for all of us building safestrap, porting cm7 and everything, daywalker04 for uploading the Brazil Retail sbf, Endroid for being the first to try it with a normal bootstrap and now I'm confirming it working with Hashcodes newest safestrap(as well as his old ones, I originally tested w/v0.92 and worked my way up to current). I Just booted cm7 off /preinstall.
As usualy, please keep in mind that neither I or anyone else will take any responsibility for anything that happens to your phone through use of these files.
IF/When you enable and disable safestrap remember to format data/cache, causes bootlooping for me if I don't.
Warning, if you do this the way things are now you will not be able to get back to your bell software!! Only do this is you are absolutely sure you know what you're doing!!!!!!!!
You may have to be on the brazillian retail rom for this to work! You can find it in This Thread. You're looking for Fastboot package for UMTS XT860 Retail Brasil. At this point in time you can't get back to bell stock so again, it's at you're own risk!!
UPDATE: Thanks Rick2 for the recovery fix that allows us to swap between safestrap on the fly. Now when I need data I can get it anywhere. Works with Hashcodes newest safestrap (1.06). Go here to thank him and get the patch!
Update2: I've attached a CWM flashable zip that I've used to successfully get 3g working on Liberty and Mavs Rom, it does not work on cm7 but will hopefully work on other verizon based roms. It pushes the stock libmoto_ril.so(from the brazil retail), a new apns-xml.conf and a slightly edited build.prop(just made it en/US). I've had it cause the phone to fc loop if I installed it on an existing rom and didn't factory reset.
Update3: Watching this thread for info about me863 I think but according to that thread a user has flashed the brazil retail to his me863 and is trying to get data working
Update4: I've reworked the data patch to make it more universal. It should work on me863 providing safestrap runs on your phone. The patch will now copy files from /systemorig so you'll be using matching kernel/libs etc rather than using generic xt860 files. It also makes backups of the original files in the same location (just adds a .bak extension). This new patch IS SAFESTRAP ONLY. Huge huge thanks to Adamogle!!! If it weren't for him I'd still be banging my head up against the wall and no one would be using this patch. You may have to format data/cache, I left it out of the patch so everyone can test (if you phone goes into a force-crash loop then reboot and clear data/cache). Once I get confirmation of this working (or not) on the me863 I'll fix the thread again. I've left the old data patch(renamed as fit) as well in case anyone runs into troubles. Still not a cm7/9 patch, if one comes about it will get it's own thread but it works on all other custom roms based on motorola firmware.
if you see this and you're like "yes, finally some progress on the xt860!! Where do I donate???!?!!" You do that on Hashcodes website, it's ALL his hard work, I just basically wrote you a little story and pooled some files together. He really deserves it, he's working around the clock right now on cm9, seriously around the clock. Of course you can feel free to click the "Thank" button on this post if you like using my data patch
1./ Flash Brazil retail sbf from this thread
2./ root with Zerg from this thread. For some reason v3 kept tossing errors, v2 worked first try.
3./ install safestrap or whatever bootstrap (safestrap from Hashcodes site http://hash-of-codes.blogspot.com/
4./ profit (follow the directions to install a safestrap rom
boot recovery
Enable safestrap in options
Factory reset (formats data & cache)
Mounts > format system
Install your rom
Install my 3gfix
Reboot and profit
)
Again, my patch doesn't work on cm7 at the moment. Sorry Hashcode and everyone but I figured we'd be better off shooting for a known working rom. I'll update the post as I and other users test more roms. Thx thing on a spring for providing the patch "template", every time I threw one together and put it on my phone it turned out to be corrupt somehow so I just removed the files from your data fix and shoved in my own.
does it work with me863?
Thanks Willis I'll try that fix tonight. I'll try some of the other custom roms too see if any work. Probably give safestrap a whirl too

I gotta say after months of watching customs roms and dev for the xt862 this is pretty exciting. Does wifi data work on cm7? I would assume if the issue is just with apn. I know its not the intended purpose but I may use safestrap as a dual boot, run custom roms at home in safe mode and switch back to Brazil retail when I need 3g

This is awesome.
Great work guys. As soon as this gets a little more stable I'm going to flash it onto my gf's phone, work around these bugs that came in the stock FW.
Awesome. Been looking forward to this day. Not jumping on the train just yet, but I'm sure that once the 3G bug is ironed out, I'll be flashing.

Yeah, I tried that and the gsm data patch. I'm having trouble adding/editing apns etc, can't join networks because "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" etc. This is with cm7 and liberty. I have liberty on my safestrap now, running. I can get sms, make calls etc, wifi works. I'll firgure the rest out. If I want to go back to stock for data or something I just turn safestrap off and do an advanced restore of my /data partition to my backup from after installing the brazil retail.
I can't seem to make this work willis, i adb pushed those files to /preinstall but i still get constant FC of com.android.phone the only thing that makes it not do that is removing the sim. i'm confused

I was gonna put together a flashable patch earlier but had some things come up and ended up in a hospital waiting room all night(next time I'll bring my laptop >.<). I'll toss it together asap and update the first post as long as I can flash it/it works. I should have mentioned (this is the confusing part) I pushed those files before enabling safestrap so /preinstall was /system if you get what I mean.
For CM7 to work correctly on GSM, I need to edit the init.mapphone_umts.rc file to setup all of the services the right way.
TBH, I never even looked twice at that file because I thought there wasn't anyone using it.

Glad to see the XT860 crowd finally get some fun. )
Thanks Hashcode for putting so much effort into it, it's highly appreciated.
We were feeling a little bit left out.
Well, if you can get a version of CM7 working before I start having to study for exams, would be greatly appreciated.
But, if not, I'm sure I'll just divert time from studying to testing.

Changing your phone's firmware before exams is a bad thing... Trust me, I know Mine are starting next week!
Willis, I wondered if such was the case, I had safe system enabled and tried adb push to both /preinstall and /system as I wasn't sure how adb would recognize them in safe system. I also was pushing while in recovery

After the little bit of testing I've done over the last day or two with different custom roms it looks like we're(xt860 and me863 users I image) going to have to have (or really really want) a patch we can flash against any custom rom to get our data and sometimes maybe phone up(or to keep it from crashing). Haven't been able to get 3g up (though the 1 method I did not try was to crash the phone through the dev tools in cm7 as was mentioned in another thread) on any rom yet. Phone/text works right off the bat w/liberty, mavs etc etc.
Narrowed down why Safestrap Recovery would only boot if a USB cable was connected on the XT860; it had to do with a line in the init.rc file executed when booting into recovery:
Code:
write /dev/usb_device_mode msc_adb
As well as a line in the postbootrecovery.sh script which accomplishes essentially the same thing, except via an echo command.
Obviously, we could just comment those lines out, but then we're left without adb in recovery without messy changes each time we want it. So, I whipped up a little script that checks if there is a USB connection and if so, run the previous necessary commands to enable adb and if not, then leave them out. End result: Safestrap Recovery is working like a charm now. No more need to worry about tinkering with my phone without a computer nearby to get into the recovery...
I attached the modified recovery.zip, just replace the original one located at /system/etc/safestrap/recovery.zip with the attached one and you should be good to go.
My phone has come a long way... from stock Bell to Chinese ME863 stock to Brazilian XT860 stock, to Mexican XT860 stock, to bootstrap, to safestrap, back to bootstrap, and onto Liberty ROM (great rom!)
What bothers me is when "Pay Phone" appears when some people call me (research seems to indicate that these people have a name attached to their phone number, and also if the provider allows you (your plan?) to see these).
Anyway, I don't recall the Chinese stock rom behaving in this way, and I'd like to flash back to it, but I can't (RSD lite and even moto-fastboot methods give up at the first flash... the CDT).
Am I stuck in the world of Brazil/Argentina/Mexico stock roms? That's not a bad thing, of course, as they open up other avenues... but the Pay Phone thing is killing me!
Any help/info would be appreciated. Thank You

Do you need to flash all the partitions to fix that issue? I would think either radio.img or system.img would be responsible for this as caller id is network transmitted. Perhaps try motofastboot flash just one or the other of these
I've also heard that some 3rd party apps can fix this issue. Try poking around the market see what you can find. I have heard that this is a rogers issue with unlocked devices, not just the xt860

Flashing radios and testing sounds more fun
Thanks Endo
To fix "pay phone" just call up rogers and have them remove the name display feature that is packaged with call display.
That's it! Btw why not try using the willis111 bell 2.3.6 deodexed on it? The stock 2.3.6 is pretty awesome, good performance and all.
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
Because I'm stubborn and dont want to call Rogers to remove the feature, I flashed the ME863 radio to my phone (running eclipse rom right now), copied the ME863 libmoto over (thanks dove0rz for dropping that in the forum!) and noticed that i wasnt getting signal.
I then copied dove0rz's ME863 build.prop (but it was made for cm9)... got signal, did the test.. and voila.. no more Pay Phone. Problem is nothing else really works on my phone. LOL.. (i.e. almost all apps FC).
I expected issues, just wanted to see it working.
My question now is... could minor modifications to the original build.prop (of eclipse rom) get my signal up and running? I wish I knew more about the settings in build.prop. I plan on comparing the original build.prop and me863 cm9 build.prop side-by-side to see if there is a magical line or two that needs adjusting. But any input/help by you experts out there would be appreciated.
This issue's been around for a while and is not specific to the XT860, it also exists on other Moto devices, some HTC and LG devices.
I can't test it because I'm not on Rogers... so I don't have the "Pay Phone" issue..
But I know for sure that using a build.prop from a diff device is usually bad.
So try taking the one that comes from whatever ROM you are on, and look for these lines, that's what I need to get CM9 running with signal on my XT860:
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libmoto_ril.so
ro.telephony.disable.globalnwswitch=true
umts.apn_authentication.enable=1
ro.telephony.default_network=3
ro.telephony.ignore.linkiperror=true #note sure if this one is absolutely necessary
Obviously YMMV as I'm on CM9..
But to get signal on anything other than stock, or Brazil or Latam..
I'd start by making sure it's a freshly flashed working ROM then copying the stock libmoto_ril.so and adding/changing the above lines to your build.prop file
And when you say
could minor modifications to the original build.prop (of eclipse rom) get my signal up and running?

Do you mean Voice or 3G or both ?

Thanks PM. I updated/added the lines you suggested to a fresh installed Eclipse ROM's build.prop. Also replaced the libmoto_ril.so (and set 644 permissions to both build.prop and libmoto_ril.so of course). Rebooted and didn't seem to work (No signal at all.) Wifi seems to be working OK.
And yes, what I meant for signal was both voice and 3g.
Thanks for your help. I'm still comparing the original build.prop with the me863 cm9 build.prop to see what got it going by simply dropping the cm9 build.prop in... will update if any progress. Not sure if I'll get far because a lot of this is new to me still.
Upload both the build.props? Or search "web diff tool" in google and paste your files in there, that might help isolate the modified lines
And.. Does it even detect the sim card?
I recall seeing the SIM icon at the top of the screen, if for a few seconds. I can't quite recall if/when it went away. I'm going to try again and keep an eye on that. I was staring at the signal bar and crossing my fingers. Haha
Attached is dove0rz's me863 build.prop for cm9, and the me863 libmoto.
Also attached is the Eclipse 2.0 (for D3) original build.prop.
Thanks
So.. just to recap..
You're on Eclipse ROM.. get no signal.. and when you copy the attached cm9 build.prop, this gets you signal.. but everything FCloses?
Do you only have connection issues in Eclipse after flashing the Chinese radio?
PS: To spot the differences between 2 files, try this: www.aldram.com/Diff.aspx

Yes. Normally (on the Mexican radio - p2b_solana_umts_solana_iusacell_mx-user-2.3.6-5.5.1-112_SLU-57M-111107-release-keys-Latam-01.xml.zip) what I'd do for my Eclipse install (a fresh wipe/install) is push my Bell stock limoto_ril.so to /system/lib and set permission to 644 - which allows me to add my APN's.

Good day, people.
[V1]
I want to present my ROM for GSM users. Based on 215 ics leak.
Some info:
1. As much as I could - removed verizon things.
2. Fixed Mobile hotspot for GSM users. (if it still doesn't work, add dun to your APN type)
3. APNs for GSM users are integrated
4. Added Russian language.
5. Replaced Messaging.apk with SMS/MMS.apk from cm9, because standart messaging app is not sending mms.

It's a piece of spyware that runs on boot. Hashcode posted about it here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...6-16-206-ics-leak-safestrap-2012-06-17-a.html
and oh no on the brick.. what happened?
Your ROM seems to work fine BTW.. I'm no longer getting nagged to update a piece of Motorola crapware, and unlike the AOKP and CM9 ports I can actually make voice calls!
Ah well. Delete QETest.apk and QETest.dex from the /system/app before flashing. Hope it'll help
aye i like this rom, would there be any bad side effects if i was to flash this to my non-safe partition, as i am trying out things on my safe side all the time and want to use this rom as my main one.
this should really be a problem as we have fastboot files now (still little hazy on how these act different form when i had the G2).

this rom was made specially for saving non-safe system untouched. intall safestrap to non-safe system and use this one as safe system. you can anytime make nandroid backup of this system and restore after new leak will come.
Just want to add that this is a good ROM. Data seems to actually work better than in my stock ROM, and having all the APNs pre-installed is always nice. Haven't had anything break on me at all yet. It's nicely de-bloated, but still has everything important working, including webtop and HDMI output. I'm currently using it as my daily.
I just hope olegfusion can get their phone fixed easily as this one is worth keeping an eye on

Thanks. Just my addon is that if you'll see that hotspot is not working, edit apn: add dun to type field after comma.
I had more ideas to continue in next version (this brick thing is so stupid) and I'll start working on it once my second droid 4 will come here. It'll be earlier than I'll fix my bricked droid 4 (need ICS 4.0.4 fastboot files, I don't think they will come here before september). Sad that I needed to waste more money for second phone.
Have you tried the method used to move between ICS leaks, i.e. flash the kernel to the latest ICS but the ROM back to gingerbread, then use the Motorola recovery to install the ICS update script?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1714596
Sorry if i'm telling you stuff you already know, but that seems to be the only way to re-flash stock ICS from fastboot.

Sure. I even tried to flash razr's, droid 3 and made by myself files. Validation failure.
Is there any way to make the APN files available and install on the regular ICS leak. I am travelling to 3 different countries in Europe.

Download my firmware, use winrar or something like this and extract /system/etc/apn-conf.xml file. Replace by same path in regular ICS leak.
But if you're using Verizon wireless, compare files inside - you'll probably need to add verizon apns to my apn-conf.xml

Thanks. How does APN Config work? Is it an automated process that gets initiated once you put in the foreign SIM or is there a program that needs to be run?

Yes, it detects mnc and mcc parametres from SIM card that you insert and choose the right option from apns-conf.xml

I actually found a thread on this but it didn't actually fully address the issue. My problem is I rooted my Droid 3 a few weeks ago without any issue using the Motofail method. I actually kept the stock OS, all I did was use Titanium Backup to freeze some apps and I performed the Radiocomm Hack, all without any issue. Well now it is a few weeks later and I notice I'm having some problems with my phone. The stock battery indicator is acting wonky. I plugged in the phone to charge and when I unplugged it, the indicator continued to stay animated like it was still charging. Also when I plugged in the phone to charge yesterday, it appeared to be charging fine but when I unplugged later that evening it actually hadn't charged at all as the battery indicator was not only in the red, but when I went into About Phone in the system setting it also said the battery was at a low percentage. Another issue I'm having is with the sudden disappearance of my Battery and Data Manger within the systems menu. I no longer have any Data Manager setting like I used to have. Infact all it shows when I go into there is what apps are using the most battery power. I don't even have an option to turn of the Background Data anymore or adjust battery saver settings. I'm not sure why all this is happening as I've kept the custom rom and only frozen a few apps that I confirmed to be safe by checking a safe list on several websites. I even went back and unfroze all the apps to see if maybe one of them was causing the issue. The only other thing I did was perform the Radiocomm Hack. Now I did follow a youtube video that told me that I need to apk a datamanagerservice file and also an oek (?) datamanager service file and also I had to go into Root Explorer and delete a database file of some kind. According to the gentleman who made the video, these were tracking programs that might be able to detect the radiocomm hack or some how detect that the phone was using tether. After everything was done in the video and I performed the hack, it worked perfectly. My phone worked fine and the the tethering was fine. Now a few weeks later and I'm having the problems I mentioned above. To fix this I decided I would unroot my phone and return it to factory setting then reroot again. To do this I decided to go with Overlay's 1-Click SBF.exe method. I did have the same problem as another poster in that the file had some sort of extended name on it (-dl=1). This prevented my computer from being able to read the file or recognize it. So I did what that post suggested and I deleted the "-dl=" part so that it said 1_CLICK_SBF.exe and low and behold it fixed the file. It went from a white paper icon to the green android man icon so I thought everything was ok. Well then I go to run the program and I keep gettin this "some files are corrupted" message "please close and find another download' or something of that nature. I've tried several times to redownload this file and I still keep getting this error. I tried disabling my virus protections and fire walls but still nothing worked. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong and how I can get this working again. I'm not even sure if it's something with root that is causing my phone to act up, it could be the phone is bad which mean I need to contact the person I bought it from and send it back but I can't do that until I unroot the phone, return it to factory settings and see if that takes care of the battery issue and restores my data manager/battery settings to the system menu. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me out with this.

I also just want to add that I did load the phone into App Fast Mode without any problems and everything was ok. It's just when it came time to actually run the 1 Click file, I kept getting the message about parts of the zip being corrupted and to please find another download. Also I should add that I am on the .906 ota, 2.3.4, kernel 2.6.35.7-g5a4155.
There is now a full SBF zip download for 5.7.906 that you can flash with RSD Lite; see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39268610&postcount=241
I used it last week without issue. I unzipped the file first to make sure that it was a good download (a bad download will not unzip properly.)
[edit: here is a good "how-to" for RSD Lite: http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/How_to_flash_with_RSD_lite ]
You may want to make sure that you have a well-charged battery. Amazon sells a Motorola external charger if your phone does not charge the battery properly. http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Battery-Charger-Series-Batteries/dp/B005LFXBJ6

First of all thank you for the reply because I really need help. The only way i've been able to do anything to my phone is mostly by watching youtube videos and following along. In other words I am a complete idiot to all of this and have no idea what i'm doing. With regards to your response about RSD Lite, I did go to the how to link but I still don't understand what to do. Unfortunately I don't have internet at my house so I can't even begin to attempt the rsdlite thing until tonight. I just feel like my nerves are shot. Nothing on this phone is working right. Infact im beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the phone itself. This is the second d3 I've had and all the things i'm doing to this phone I did to the last and i'm having nothing but problems and I've done nothing major to the phone. I just tried tethering so I could access the internet on my laptop so I can try to fix this now and apparently the radiocomm hack didn't work either. It worked fine on my other droid3 that i ended up giving to my mom. Im beginning to think that the seller I purchased this phone from on ebay, lied about this phone not being. Refurbished or ever activated. Heck I knew it wasn't because it came already loaded with the. 906 update. Now if I can figure out how to factory restore I can see if I can get it working properly.

Well a little while earlier my extended battery was in the red. Again I think this is a software issue as im sure the battery is good. Anyway I googled a fix and someone else who had the same issue accessed the Battery Manager app in settings and cleared the cache and the battery started to charge again. I cleared the cache and did a force sto then plugged the phone up and it hasn't died yet but im afraid to unplug the phone so im leaving it charged until I leave tonight to see if the battery charges. I do have the original battery as a bak up which when I placed it in the phone briefly this morning was at 80 or 90% so I think im ok battery wise. Im just freaking out about how to fix this. I know nothing about flashing roms or rsdlite or anything like that. I literally rooted the phone, froze some apps and did the radiocomm hack which doesn't seem to have worked with this phone. I just don't understand why this is happening. This all went perfectly without a hitch on the other droid 3 I had before I gave it to my mom and bought another one. Is there an easier way to unroor and restore to stock besides using rsdlite/ I don't know why Overlay's 1 click. 906.exe file is coming up as corrupted. That seemed like an incredibly easy fix. This rsdlite fix sounds incredibly complicated and as I said im an idiot to this kind of thing. I listen to the real creative geniuses and try to do what you all do.
rsd lite is very simple
download xml file
download rsd lite and install
down load moto drivers and install
open rsd lite
select the '...' button, select the xml file
boot phone to AP Fastboot, connect to pc
wait for windows to find correct drivers
select start on rsd lite, let it install xml file (10-25 min)
when rsd lite is done it will try to reboot phone,
if phone gets stuck in bootloop, wipe data in recovery and reboot
done

Ah, ok. Ill check out your link about the xml filed tonight as well as looking into downloading one of the battery apps you were talking about but the good news is that I do have a spare battery incase the one in the phone now proves not to be charging. Do you have any idea why this would be happening? I did the exact same stuff on another droid 3 and everything was fine. The first phone which I bought from a person who was upgrading did great yet this one that I bought froma verizon dealer on ebay is acting up. This phone came with stock screen cover and all the booklets and sealed battery charger and everything. I know the box wasn't sealed but with the exception of the. 90ynupdate already installed t, the phone appeared to have not been used. Is it possible that I wont be able to restore phone back to original. 890 stock that was shipped originally? I'm just trying to understand what could of happened so I know its not a faulty phone issue. Thank you Shadow for being so helpful, thank both of you that have responded. Please keep them coming lol!

Yes im sorry, I had misunderstood you initially. I did have a chance to view the links so I realized what you meant after my post. Yes, I am also aware of the software possibly being corrupt, I just meant that fortunately I have z spare battery that I can pop in and use during the rsdlite fix but it does appear that my extended battery is charging since I emptied battery manager cache and force stopped. I will take it with me just in case though should I need to switch them out before I make the attempt tonight. Also I aware that the 1 click method would only be a temporary backup to .890 and that I would need to perform an update but I am just eager to see if my phone will revert back to. 890 because it came to me from a verizon authorized dealer with the latest update already installed even though they told me the phone had never been activated. It just makes me wonder if some how the operating system is locked from reverting to. 890 somehow. I just want to be able to return the phone to the condition it was when it arrived to me which was unrooted with the latest update already installed and all software functioning normally.

It's possible that the Droid 3 was never used. When a new update is released, the manufacturers tend to ship phones with updated software, rather than having the user go through an over the air update almost immediately.
A Droid 3 that has had 5.7.906 installed on it cannot revert back fully to an older version - the locked bootloader prevents it. I believe that the 1-click installs the system of the older version, as that can be managed, and then allows you to have the 5.7.906 upgrade installed, which you should do right away.
However, at this point I'd stay away from 1-click. This link has the SBF file that you need: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_solana/list.php
It's the third in that table, under the column "download", on the line with "5.5.1_84_D3G-66_M2-10
Blur_Version.5.7.906.XT862.Verizon.en.US" as the system build number.
You will download a zip file called VRZ_XT862_5.5.1_84_D3G-66_M2-10_1FF_01a.xml.zip. As you can tell by the name of the file, that file is a zip file. When you extract it, it will expand to 17 files, including one called VRZ_XT862_5.5.1_84_D3G-66_M2-10_1FF_01a.xml - this is the file that you will be looking for when you follow sd_shadow's instructions for RSD Lite.
In fact, just to be complete, the files that will be expanded are:
VRZ_XT862_5.5.1_84_D3G-66_M2-10_1FF_01a.xml
allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin

Thank you doogald, I'm about to begin downloading the stuff I need now so that I can begin. I'm hoping everything runs smoothly since I have to have this completed by the end of my shift in the morning. I really don't want to have to stay here all day tomorrow using my employers internet to try and figure this out. Thanks both of you guys for all your help. I'll let you know how it turns out. Geez, I hope it turns out right..
Ok so right now I already feel like screaming in frustration. I can't seem to find an RSD Lite download file. The RSDlite.rar download link that I found here on XDA, doesn't work on my computer, the same as the 1 click method. I did find a download on a sight called Tucows for RSDlite 5.7 but it seems to be stuck in the "installing" phase. I went to the link that Shadows posted, taking me to the how to page for RSD Lite but again, the link there took me to the XDA link, which doesn't work. The Tucows download for RSDLITE 5.7 is showing a Window that says Windows Mobility, and it has a light blue bar that is completely full but all it says is "RSDLITE is being installed" it doesn't appear to be doing anything else. I guess I can close it and try installing it again. Ok I tried downloading the Tucows 5.7 download again but it tells me the file did not install properly the first time and I need to try installing. What is going on? I am trying to reinstall it again. Why is nothing working for me, why is everything being so difficult. I'm trying to not have a melt down but seriously, why can't I find any files that work? They all seemed to be working at some point and are working for other people right now. I need help finding a working file I think.

Why can't I find a file that works?? None of the .rar files work. They all download and then have a paper icon and when I try to open and extract the files I get an error page about windows not being able to identify the files or something and then it asks me what program I want to use to open the download. The only one that unzipped was the Tucows file and that was an RSDLite5.7.msi (whatever that means) and when I extract the files and attempt the download it's a Windows Installer which I run and it looks like it's going to work but then it just stops doing whatever it's doing and does nothing until I close it at which point it asks me if I'm sure I want to close because the installation isn't complete. What is going on?? I can't believe I've been trying to find a working RSDlite file for the last 2 hours. I thought I'd be done by 3:30 and here it is 2:20am and I haven't even gotten to the first step yet because I can't find any working download.

I've done: *228 (doesn't work no service), ## program (didn't work somehow my spc password has changed tried all vzw told me to try), tried factory reset (still didn't work), tried rooting phone cwm boot strapper etc (still no radio) even tried the stock flash from other threads where these phones have had this issue. (Still not working) I even tried cdma workdhop to read the memory to find the spc pw and the file said that the txt file did not exist. What's left to do? Pull the trigger? Really could use some help.... thanks!
By stock flash do you mean sbf via rsdlite or motofastboot. If you've flashed stock firmware and still have issues I would suspect it's a hardware issue

Its the one named D3.906.SBF by overlayer I used ill try to find the post that has the file. Moto-fastboot I think where would I find the other (it'll be a pain if its hardware....)

Try toggling through Global/CDMA/GSM modes and end on CDMA (if you use Verizon). I sometimes have this issue, though usually after flashing a radio. Also if you SBF, remember to wipe data/cache. If you want it, I can upload the stock 890 radio and you can flash with moto-fastboot. The 890 radio DOES work with 906 system, I switch between the 890 and XT883 radio for CDMA/GSM.
Motofastboot and rsdlite are just 2 different ways of flashing firmware. Rsdlite is more user friendly and automated whereas motofastboot is a command line utility that allows you to flash single partitions instead of the whole device. Ovelayers tool uses motofastboot and a script I believe
