is it true that partitioning sd card results in its damage
if yes how can i prevent it and is there a way by which i can still partition my sd card and prevent any damage to it

Yes, this is due to increased cycle read/write to that your card suffer...
If you use a partition of your sdcard as internal memory, the damage will be less than if you use it as a swap partition, because your swap partition will be used as something like "ram" memory, but of course IT IS NOT AS FAST AS RAM MEMORY! so what is better a small increase in performance or a sdcard 100% serviciable and durable¿?
YOU CHOOSE!
It does reduce the life of your SD card.
If you think the increased memory is worth it, go for it.

RAM 512Mb but you only have aprox 326 Mb for yourself, the rest are used by the OS and System Services.
Internal SD, can come in 8GB models or 16GB models
External SD, is whatever SDHC micro SD card you want to insert into it, supports up to 32GB micro SD cards
the Internal SD is split in 2 GB for System OS Apps, and whatever is left over is yours to use.
the Internal SD is aprox a Class 4 SD card
Amd what about system types on internal sd? What is reason for so slow stock i/o? FS type? LagFix i choosed store data on same chip...

exactly because of that the internal SD is split into 2 active partitions, by having the swap file on another SD card, then it lessen the access time

Ok! But..... CFLagFix-1.70 moves files to internal SD, not external.
It was in internal, and became also internal. So what's the difference?
Ok, maybe another partition, but same storage! May by file system structure, heard about some journals??? or what else??
Hello:
I've getting these low memory warnings everytime i update my apps. i've moved most of my apps to the SD.
My internal memory is 196MB, is this right?
i'm thinking when i flashed cm7, i might have assigned way too much ext memory. if thats the case, how do i re-partition my memory. i need to update my rom to version CM7.1
thanks,
oh yeah, and for some reason, my SD card total space is 3.03GB (but the factory SD card's memory i believe is 1.99GB)
If you're using CM7 why not use DT a2sd or S2E to move apps to the EXT section of the sd card?
If I read your post correctly, you partiton your sd card but you're moving apps to the FAT32 portion of the sd card.
If you use S2E or DT, you can move apps, and dalvik cache to the sd ext portion of the sd card (what these script does is make the phone think the sd-ext is part of your internal storage. This way apps with widgets, passcode can stil lwork like normal.

Yes that is correct
Confirmed here too. 196 on non-rooted stock N1. That's all she has.
But is there any point in moving apps to the sd card? Seeing as how it is on the same disk surely there wouldn't be any difference?

Even though it's the same hard disk, the sd card partition is much larger, avoiding the problem of running out of space.
what chicle_11 said. it basically allows you to install more apps onto your TP.
and apps runs faster on sd card then on internal memory...

But its the same physical memory on the Touchpad, the sd card is just virtually mounted. How would it make a difference? Other than if your internal memory partition is getting low.
The move to SD is more of a legacy feature from older android phones with small internal memory.
I just got a new sandisk ultra 16GB class 10 sd card. Is it actually worth partitioning my SD card for swap and increasing internal storage. I hear that the SD card gets corrupted after about 6 months of use after partitioning.
Thanks

Noway it doesn't affect the sd card...maybe swap does coz the card is always getting accessed...and moreover even swap will reduce life only to an extent that you won't even realise it in your period of use...and mostly all memory cards these days have a full 5year warranty...I have the same card..I've used partition wizard tool and created a 512mb ext4 partition and a 128mb Linux swap....and am using psn swapall cm7 kernel with vo1s rom amazingly smooth!!

Totally worth it
I use stock XWKTS PSN rom with PSN kernel and i have 480mb internal storage and my phone flies

Absolutely. I use link2sd. Wouldn't cope without it.

Thanks guys, guess I'm partitioning the SD card

which method its better, i have a class 10 sd, as for me i dont find difference between psn mod, cronmod and links2sd?
I'm currently using psn swapp all v3, since swap its on internals i think its faster but all other methods work just fine.
Totally worth it!!!!
EXT partition is recommended however SWAP is a bit optional thing, its a much more strain on the card's life.
I use cronmod, its gui free, i like it, does everything by itself in the background, no hassles with setting up link2sd or app2sd.
Yeah absolutely worth it. I wouldnt be able to live without it now.
The ability to install loads of apps is amazing.
You will face an issue with corruption only if the card was of bad quality to begin with.
Does anybody know a way how i can make my SD CARD as internal memory on this tablet ?

Same problem here with small amount of storage. I can't just simply change play path to sd card lol if life was simple

Hey if you didn't figure it out yet it's simple you need to format the sd and an option will show to choose for external or internal storage you can also find an app to partition some of the sd for rom expand but it kills the sd fast.
I would really like to do this also... I can move some apps to sd not all the ones I want to.. I have rooted and tried different apps to do this. I do not get the option to use some of sd as internal after formatting. 32gb model with 64gb sd

Newer tablets no longer allow this because it is a very bad idea. Internal storage is MANY times faster than the SD cards and allowing apps to run from the SD card would make the device very "laggy".
